Nice airport cafeteria located at the international departure area. Serves coffee and small pastry and sandwiches. They sell snacks and souvenirs. Also a bar area and small sitting area. I had double espresso added sweetener and a lot of half and half. Just what I needed. The cashier was friendly and gave me some ice, so I didn't have to gulp down hot coffee. read more

The food was good. The sausage was cooked perfectly and was thin enough to not be greasy but a bit of a crunch. The service was decent. Took nearly 10 minutes for two early morning orders. I rarely write reviews but the service here was awful. Woman working the cafe this morning was so rude and dismissive. Seemed as if she hated her job. Opened at 7am - I waited to go inside until 7:10 and then gave her time to setup her register (Didn't want to rush her) I asked her questions about the muffins behind the register in the case (they were unlabeled) and she whispered her responses to me so low I could not hear anything she said even though she was less than 1 foot away from me. I've never felt more turned off by customer service. Maybe she shouldn't work in the morning...I just wanted a coffee and muffin. Also latte was bad - it was $12. read more

Sweet Auburn Market is a cafe/convenience store in the International pre-security at ATL. The only other food option here is Starbucks. Pretty miserable experience. The cashier/barista rolled her eyes and sighed when I asked what kind of muffins they had in the unlabelled display that was difficult to look closely at because it was behind the counter. No decaf espresso and no non-dairy milk. The espresso machine wasn't working to steam the milk, so I got my chai latte iced. The blueberry muffin was cakey and plain. The chai latte was like sugar water. I could faintly smell chai but couldn't really taste any. I considered throwing out the chai and going to Starbucks downstairs even though I never throw out food. I ended up finishing it anyway but the fact that I even thought about it means it was not good. I have had way better experiences with the coffee shops post-security in terms of both product and service, so if this one-off experience is indicative, I recommend grabbing something on the other side. read more

I was in the international terminal on a Sunday night around 8:00pm. The store was well stocked with baked goods and packaged snacks for the road. There were about 2 or 3 workers at the register conversing, and when I walked up to check out, I was told they are closed and that I should check out at the restaurant bar. I walked over to the bar to check out, and the bartender was confused. She said the cash register isn't supposed to be closed yet.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ My husband went back around 8:15pm to pick up something we forgot. Ambiance - it reminds me of a bustling market like those in Hong Kong, but it has its differences. Maybe at one point in time, there were more markets and grocery shops inside than the eateries that are in there now. Either way, it's a nice little market with plenty to walk around and try. Coming as a group would behoove you the most as you can try out a lot of different foods that way. With a group of three, we ended up trying tiny snacks and foods from 7 different eateries inside with Arepa Mia being one of them. It is very apparent what is popular and what is not in the market itself. We opted to choose the places that were more popular and we generally didn't find them disappointing. The biggest disappointment was the sambusas I got. It was a vegetarian sambusas and aside from the fact it took a long time to get (fried from frozen), the flavors were too heavy and too strong. Regretably, I wanted to try the pie shop, but we couldn't eat anymore otherwise I imagine myself loving the 'pie's' there. There was a tiny meat empanada (spicy) from one store that surprised us greatly as it was nicely seasoned and the after kick from the spice was near perfect. The Vietnamese place we tried was okay overall. Had spring rolls and Thai tea, which were average in my opinion. In all, not comparable to larger places Ponce City market. However, it's nice to visit during the day time and lunch hour. It was definitely bustling in the two hours we were there for lunch and I can imagine seeing them being busy regularly. Note: the Atlanta resident that we were visiting said the area is sketchy at best so I wouldn't recommend visiting during night time. read more

Absolutely terrible service. The bartender has been on her phone the whole time seated ignoring customers coming up. It took 10 minutes before she noticed me and got up. The port gentleman seated next to me waited 15 minutes for a glass of wine and now is waiting at least 15 minutes while she sits there and eats and looks at her phone. If you're stuck at the international terminal pre-security departures area; Sweet Auburn Market will Hit the spot for A quick late lunch until you are ready to go through security and onto Boarding. The place is fully staffed with friendly bartenders and they have a full bar menu with laptop/phone charging jack plugins at every bar stool seat; now that's convenience! The soup bar had three options from which I picked the large bowl of turkey white bean ($5.99) which was amazing; other options that were equally tempting were the tomatoe bisque and Clam chowder. A hummus plate that came with pita bread, mixed olives and fruit ($7.99) completed the snack stop until I got ready to go through security and onto the flight. This market is a really cool concept! I visited here for the first time on a Sunday so it wasn't super busy, but I definitely want to return on a weekday to see it in full action! There are lots of little shops inside that you can choose food, products, or fresh veggies from! It seems to be a good spot to go for lunch or a snack and get a little shopping in. It's located in historic Auburn Avenue in Atlanta so once you're here there are lots of local gems nearby! read more

I've been flying international a lot lately (and having a ton of family overseas coming into town lately), that I've been here several times now. Once, to have a drink at the bar with a friend who came to see me leave. Bartender was great! Very friendly. Drink was good. Strong. They didn't skimp on the alcohol, that's for sure =) The next time, I bought a "dirty chai" latte and an apple crumb muffin. They warmed it up for me. Latte was pretty good. Called "dirty" because it has a shot of espresso in it. Never had one of those before. Would get it again. The muffin was DELICIOUS. Wolfed that down in about a minute. The perfect snack before a 15 hour flight. The next time I went, I had a favor to ask, and that was to break a $100 for me. The lady there ran around to all 4 (or was it 5?) cash registers in the place to make sure I got what I wanted. Super nice. I was very thankful. And impressed. Great addition to the terminal and hope they are always there to be my last pit stop before leaving the country! read more

In the past 10 days I was in this place twice, to pick-up / drop-off somebody. I've been there before and service is definitely not their strong suit, but recently it's become the WORST service. I don't remember their names, but in general they first they will not acknowledge you until you make them. They will walk right by you, get themselves water in front of you and just act like you are not there. Unless chitchatting and not looking at you once and being rude if they are "forced to do their job" to get you something to eat / drink, is a required skill in this job, then they do a terrible job and should not be in the service industry. Pretty sure they spit in your food, based on they way they treat a customer. One even complained about her job in front of us, not acknowledging us at all, then proceeded to chitchat with the other rudest person ever. After we approached one of them, she talked to the other person, which then continued to yell at us from the other side of the bar, because obviously walking a few steps was to far. Unfortunately it's the only freaking place to get a drink, if you are waiting for somebody or just want to grab a drink after a long flight and before heading to the car. Absolutely unacceptable and I will try to avoid them, if possible. Suggestion for the management: Get rid of 95% of your "staff". Unless you don't care about your reputation like your employees. read more

I typically review places based on a combination of convenience, service, accommodations, etc. However, the service here was so bad, it completely ruined the experience. First, let me say that my husband and I were at the end of our honeymoon, and because he is a soldier, I was putting him on a plane for a foreign country and I wouldn't be seeing him for a while. We had 45 minutes left before his flight, and I desperately needed a drink. We stopped in Sweet Auburn Market, and attempted to order a screwdriver. The bartender, Kalee, didn't know what that was. So I asked for a Long Island. She asked if that was vodka with sweet tea. When I tried to explain how to make a Long Island, she said that she had "syrup", but didn't know what simple syrup was. So then I asked for a margarita. Nothing. I even said, "just put some tequila in a glass with some margarita mix. Piece of cake." She smiled and nodded, and proceeded to pick up her cell phone and make a call. 14 minutes into this process, this girl is laughing and joking with someone on her cell phone, and she is burning precious time that I have to say goodbye to my husband. Then I see her pick up some lemons, and she seems to be taking instruction from the person on the phone. She starts squeezing lemons into a shaker. At this point, my husband starts looking around in a funny way. I asked what he was looking at/for? He said, completely seriously, that he was looking for television cameras. He thought that we were on the tv show where you get money if you don't lose your s*%@ on someone after 30 minutes. In all honesty, I began to look around, too. I failed to mention that Kalee's "Team Leader, Keishawn, was present and accounted for during this entire episode. I politely called him over, thinking that he might be able to remedy the situation. With Kalee still on the telephone, I asked Keishawn if he might be able to help Kalee out, as she seemed to need some training. He asked what I wanted to drink, and I went down the list of the previous three selections. He had no knowledge of the three mentioned drinks. I then asked him what he knew how to make. No lie, his response was, "most regular mixed drinks." I look around again for cameras. I now have around 20 minutes before my husband boards his flight, and I am trying desperately not to lose my temper. I look at him in desperation and said, "please just pour some crown into a glass and fill the rest up with coke." I receive my drink, and they walked off laughing. Thinking the episode was over, I brush it off and begin to sip my drink. I sit my credit card on the edge of the bar, hoping that Kalee will simply swipe my card, give me a receipt to sign, and let us be on our way. Instead, she wanders around the bar, gets on her phone, and began restocking drinks, all the while walking directly past us and ignoring us completely. I told my husband that if she didn't acknowledge us or take our payment after 10 minutes of my card sitting on the edge of the counter, I was going to leave. There were security cameras on us, and we could prove the whole situation. Being the gentleman that he is, he waits 5 or 6 minutes and I hear him begin saying, excuse me, ma'am?" "Ma'am?" It takes us 2 or 3 minutes and probably calling her - at a distance of maybe 15 feet - 10 or 12 times in order to get her attention. We ask to check out and she rudely walks over halfway from the register at the other side of the bar and informs me that my 4th choice drink cost me $11. My husband squeezes my hand as he sees my teeth clench. You couldn't get me out of there fast enough. This is the first time I haven't tipped someone in almost 15 years. read more

Apparently I am not the only that has had a bad experience with Raquel at this location. Raquel is the perfect embodiment of a highly disgruntled employee who takes out her employment woes on customers. No sooner had we sat down did she come over and throw napkins down on the table and asked what we were ordering. We were taken aback by her attitude and demeanor. She then walked away and went to the bar where a group of men came in and she proceeded to serve them while we waited and waited for our drinks. She eventually poured our drinks and placed them on the bar counter. We were seated at a table by the windows, so we were wondering whether she wanted us to get up and our drinks. She eventually brought them over after she had catered to everyone in the place. Well she proceeded to slam our drinks down on the table and spilled some of the drinks on the table. Raquel is not a good fit for this location (and it being the only place to have a drink before going through security, basically sucks) I was dropping a friend off and we were trying to hang out before her flight. A couple of the pastries looked so tempting the first time I checked out the new Sweet Auburn Market at the new international terminal that I made it a point to try some when I went there for a couple of recent morning flights to Canada. My flights were a bit early, so I was there before 7:00 a.m., and I'm thinking I got yesterday's goods, not the same day's. Once it was the cinnamon roll and the other time it was a pecan sticky bun. And of course airport food prices are outrageous in general, and $8 for a coffee and a pastry just doesn't seem like a good value to me. read more
