The service is superb! On my first visit, I was impressed with the cashier's friendly and knowledgeable service. She was patient as I indecisively mulled over my cupcake selection. I was buying them as gifts. The flavor variety will impress you and it's a great place to stop for gluten free treats! I wish they had a gluten free Strawberry Champagne cupcake. Good gluten free is hard to find, so I'd definitely spend extra on it. As for packaging, most cupcake boutiques and cafes have fancy packaging like a pastel box with a clear window to see the cupcake. Some extra packaging options would be great. I can only eat one of their pops. Caloric intake aside, those are some really rich desserts. These cake pops are dense like frozen cookie dough, but they're much sweeter. I ordered a half dozen for a dinner party at a girlfriends house. When we opened the box we assumed these cute little marketing miracles were just going to be tasters. Well, after splitting two pops I think we sufficiently saturated and impaired every possible sweetness receptor we had. I couldn't imagine giving these things to children, poor things might suffer a heart attack. We couldn't finish the rest so we saved them for her partner. I dont recall the names of different pops I picked up but I remember we both enjoyed the seasonal Egg Nog pop. I will note that the owner contacted me via email and was really nice and explained her take on my complaints. Really, my thing was it was too sweet and expensive for what it was. I went to sweet cheats after stumbling upon it looking for a place for lunch during my lunch break one day. I looked it up on yelp and everyone, for the most part, raved about this place. I was curious to try it, but was quite expected to be underwhelmed since I've found that when there's a lot of hype the product doesn't live up to it. I drive up to the shop and walk in to see a display case full of some of the most delicious looking cupcakes and desserts I've ever laid eyes on. After asking the associate there what was what I finally decided to get the bourbon butterscotch cupcake with a southern seduction cruffle. All I have to say is...WOW!!!! I have never tasted a cupcake so moist and full of flavor. The cruffle is just as moist and delectable! I've gone back a few times since then and have been telling everyone about this place. The service here is also fantastic. The people have so much patience as they wait for you to place your order and ask which flavors are which and what they are made of. They will also warm your cupcake up for you as well if needed since the case is refrigerated. These cupcakes are okay. My better half and I stopped in on a Saturday and ordered 2 cupcakes, a hot chocolate and got a cake pop free with check in. Service was slow, but very friendly. The hot chocolate was almost entirely milk, no chocolate flavor. The cake pop was reported to be enjoyable, though I didn't try it. The cupcakes....we ordered one red velvet and one crunchy monkey. The cake in both cupcakes was very good. It was moist, flavorful and cooked perfectly. The icing, on the other hand, was not. First, I'll say buttercream probably should not be served chilled. It makes the texture almost unpalatable. Second, none of the flavors were particularly developed. Additionally, the decoration leaves something to be desired as well - though I'm not the type of person to ever get hung up on this type of thing, it seems odd that the piping skills would be so off at a cupcake shop. We likely won't return, but I wouldn't discourage anyone from trying it for themselves. Did I just really pay $4 for a cupcake and not feel bad about it? I did. There is no way I could turn down a chocolate champagne cupcake. The only part I actually felt bad about was eating such a pretty cupcake. Thankfully by the time I got it home I had accidentally melted the frosting a little so it was an ugly duckling. So so so good. It's a super chocolatey cake with white chocolate chips, topped with raspberry champagne buttercream. It is to die for. The cake is delicious, and the frosting was perfect. Not too sweet, and it actually tasted like champagne and raspberry. There's no gritty feeling from sugar, and the flavoring is stronger than the butter. Awesome. Sweet Cheats has partnered up with Tank Goodness, a cookie delivery company, so now they sell cookies and brownies. They are building a bigger space right next door to the current location after getting all the funds they needed through Kickstarter. I also got a Guinness brownie with a Sweetwater 420 caramel ganache for my boyfriend. It's topped with pretzels, and it was fantastic too. I knew that someone who doesn't like caramel would be perfectly okay with a caramel made out of 420. I tried a couple of their brownies, and the salted caramel blondie is amazing, as is the peanut butter bacon brownie. Sweet Cheats also makes cake pops in all their cupcake flavors. They call them cruffles though, and they're $2 a pop so a cupcake to me is the better bang for your buck. Tank Goodness will do delivery now of everything Sweet Cheats has to offer in addition to their brownies and cookies, and Sweet Cheats will be shipping everything around the country. I called Shirley, the owner, and she agreed to meet with me to discuss the logistics of my party. I was pleasantly surprised with the location and appearance of Sweet Cheats. It is located directly across from Cabbagetown Park (which has a trail, swings, and a jungle gym for kids), and is nestled into what could be a house. At the tasting, Shirley and her staff were more than accommodating. She was even willing to make a tea flavored cake-pop (cruffle) for my party, which wasn't necessary after all. Anyhow, let's get down to the flavors: Red Velvet: This is not your typical red velvet. Usually I'm not a fan of this flavor because the cream cheese icing tends to be bitter and the cake itself can resemble the taste of chocolate or can be dry. Not so with sweet cheats. The cake is sweet and moist, and the icing is perfect, and never has that grainy texture of some of the cream cheese icings I have had before. (These were the first to go at my party) Crème Brulee: YUM! This is the vanilla flavor featured at SC, and it is unbelievable! The flavors are so genuine and rich, yet it's not too sweet. The closest flavor comparison I can give is buttermilk pancakes. Luscious Lemon: Not bitter, not sweet, but just right. This cake-pop was tangy and delicious. Perfect for if you don't want a sugar blast, but still want a treat. Heath Bar Cheesecake: One of the other guest favorites. This dessert is so rich. The mixture of toffee and cheesecake is genius, and is a must-buy at SC. Key Lime: My personal favorite. This cupcake is everything that is good about America. It is sweet, tangy (never bitter, like most key lime pies), and perfectly moist. I believe this is a limited edition flavor, but after trying the cake pop and cupcake, I hope Shirley makes this a permanent flavor. Please don't waste your time and money going to these generic cupcakeries in Atlanta. Sweet Cheats is the real deal. The cake part of the two cupcakes was pretty similar. The overwhelming amount of overly sweet icing was what differentiated the two cupcake flavors. Sadly, the icing didn't really taste fresh. Was headed to the suburbs yesterday to hang out w/ family & friends for an Easter Sunday BBQ. I had a bottle in the car, but figured I could bring dessert cause selfishly my sweet tooth kicked in. Next thing I know I am on Kirkwood headed to Sweet Cheats. Although it was after 5pm and they had closed @ 4pm. The owner ( Shirley ) was very pleasant and awesome nonetheless.And did not make me feel rushed or hurried although I understand wanting to enjoy the rest of your sunday. She helped me pick 4 cupcakes and a 4 matching " cruffles " ( bite sized cupcakes rolled up in chocolate in a stick ) She has now moved into an amazing bigger space right across from the park complete w/ coffee bar. Very much a neighborhood type spot, fully supported by the community which I can definitely appreciate. These cupcakes are big ( enough for 2 to share ) moist & super flavorful they hit the spot and were the star of the BBQ dessert table. Much to by surprise ( NOT ) several people also brought homemade cupcakes to the BBQ but not a single 1 was eaten as everybody was clamoring around my Sweet Cheats cupcakes, and was upset that there weren't more !! Oh my! The petit fours should be called petit mores, because my goodness they were so delicious, I just wanted more, more, more. My friend bought some petit fours from Sweet Cheats for a Mad Hatter tea party we threw my roomie this weekend and let me tell you these petit fours would even make the Mad Hatter go even more crazy! We were visiting Atlanta after our trip to Asheville, NC. We are from CA and live in NV, so we know good cupcakes. We walked in and it was such a cute, quaint place! The guy working was very friendly and proud of their baked goods. We purchased the red velvet and salted caramel cupcakes. We waited a few hours to eat them since we weren't hungry at that point. Even with our long wait, the cupcake held up the harsh conditions of the airport! The red velvet, unfortunately, was not cream cheese frosted.
