Such an absolute gem of a shoppe!! This rivals the best chocolate shoppes in Europe. The chocolate is exquisite and the staff is magnificent and incredibly helpful. The owner is an absolute delight who takes time with her customers to educate them. Who knew there was a a correct way to eat a chocolate covered strawberry!!? This chocolate was first sent to me by a relative. It is not at all local for me. I decided to visit the store when we went to see relatives in Cleveland, Ohio. I don't know what they call them, but the candies that are round with caramel, chocolate covered (I chose the dark chocolate) with pecans and almonds, something like a turtle, are the best ever!! I'm going to be ordering these by mail they're so good. They had some fancy chocolates painted by artists about $4.50 apiece. They're good, Some of the fillings might be a little grainy, but they are absolutely beautiful. They'd be perfect for a tea or wedding or baby shower. Chocolates here are incredibly good. It can seem pricey but these are better than normal ones. Sweet Designs is a locally owned business so I rather go here than go to a grocery dry store and get something cheaper and less quality. Everything here is awesome so far. They have a few samples. Everything in this place is made here. It sure does taste like it. The chocolates aren't stale like how they are in lots of places. A few special chocolates are offered. It has many that are organic. There's many that are also vegan. It's good but not cheap. They're handcrafted here. It's 75 cents for a small piece of the vegan chocolate. The large bags can be about $10 or so. Full disclosure, I was nearby, there was a rare occurrence of an open parking meter in front, and I really wanted a piece of chocolate. And I don't regret it because I think it was the best peanut butter cup I've ever had. The chocolate was thick and luxe and the peanut butter was the perfect creamy consistency. Sweet Designs has an absolutely huge selection of gifts, chocolates by the lb., wines and other chocolatey treats. You can tell the owner takes a lot of pride in her work, from every chocolate rivet to bow tying a bag. I bet Sweet Designs does incredible custom work, which they certainly promote well. Every case was well-stocked, perfectly organized, and intricately arranged. The staff run a tight ship here! I asked several questions about the truffles and they were ready with answers. The chocolate is delicious, and I feel like it's a special treat. I recommend ordering online and doing curbside pickup. Online orders are ready VERY quickly. When I don't know what to get someone for Christmas or their birthday, I buy a box of chocolates from here. Loved by all. How awesome is this place?!?! I lived just down the street for four years and just so happened to stumble in around valentine's day to see what it was about. Of course, considering the upcoming holiday, it was pretty busy, but not bad. All the girls working there were so nice. When I told one of them that was behind the counter that it was my first time stopping in, she got super excited and asked me what I would like to sample. They have SO MANY different things that it was a little overwhelming to choose, so she gave me what was her favorite--some kind of chocolate covered peanut butter thing. So of course it was fabulous. You can get different sized boxes and mix and match different chocolate covered wonderfulness, and they also have boxes already made up that give you a little bit of everything. They make up so many different kinds of..I don't even know what to call them. They have high heel shoes made out of chocolate. Chocolate that looks like lipstick. Stuff with Cleveland on it. This is the best chocolate in town and better than any chocolate you can buy in a grocery store. I grew up in Germany and I am super spoiled when it comes to chocolate having grown up around German, Swiss and Belgian chocolate and pralines. After moving to the US I was very disappointed with the taste of local and national brands and selection. My fiancé runs a business and has utilized this store to make little bars of chocolate for their company. I saw one lying around once and tried it, expecting nothing special from a corporate give away. I just wanted to satisfy a sweet tooth. I was so surprised how good this chocolate is! It is creamy and sweet and melts in your mouth and leaves no weird aftertaste or doesn't taste grainy like Hershey's! It's awesome. The assorted box of little chocolates is awesome, too. Chocolate is very good & that's why I drove from Westlake to Lakewood to buy a few items. My complaint is after having to stand outside to tell the salesperson what I wanted (understandable during this time), she rang up 6 chocolate Thanksgiving favors instead of the 4 that I asked for and received. I love this creative chocolate boutique. The chocolates are perfection, there are so many wonderful creations and the team that works there are so kind. I have been impressed since I started going to the store after having been introduced to their chocolates while at work. I live in Akron but will happily travel to Lakewood because beautiful chocolates of great quality are well worth the drive. Years ago a friend from the West Coast sent me an Easter tin from See's Candies. From that day onward I either purchased candies from See's when I was in Hawaii or from the Internet. I am not much of a candy eater and certainly not one who craves chocolates and a mug of beer, but during holidays or for gifts candy is a customary purchase. With a lowered income such things as shipping costs dissuade my use of once favored Internet sites. My friend Teri who seems to know where to buy everything recommended Sweet Designs when I knew a gift was due for my pharmacist who has been extraordinarily helpful in handling my prescriptions. I took the plunge and gave a one pound box from Sweet Designs. I received lavish praise. To an Easter dinner I brought candies from Sweet Designs and again was appreciated far more than any tin from See's ever brought me. The owner and her staff are delightful. And at Sweet Designs you can find the highest of heels composed completely of decadent European style chocolate, ready for a hard night of clubbing or to feed the inevitable craving brought on by rejection and visions of long-term loneliness. DJ, play my jam! In all honesty, the samples I sampled (a dark chocolate covered potato chip, sea salted caramel and a button of milk) melted in due time and with a tempered slowness. Cheap chocolate disintegrates once touched and stuff too rich with cocoa butter has a fatty mouthfeel. Sweet Designs product is smooth and sweet without being cloying, making for quite the dandy candy. The ladies behind the counter are all too eager to toss you a sample, and I believe the master chocolatier graced us with her a presence, along with a tray of freshly prepped chocolate-drizzled popcorn. Her exasperation and projected sleeplessness let us know the supply works tirelessly to meet demand, and that demand ain't dwindling. Prices are to be expected with truffles running $20-25/lb and dipped goodies a shade less. I stopped here today, while driving in the area. The shop is located on a cozy corner of Lakewood. We parked nearby at a meter and entered the store. My co-worker and I were immediately greeted by the nice young lady behind the counter. We proceeded to browse the shelves. Lots of chocolate gifts, wine and other goodies. The young lady behind the counter offered us a sample of their dark chocolate and tea pairing. The tea was delightful, an apple pear mix. There were also chocolate covered pretzel samples on the counter. There were SO many wonderful offerings in-store, including chocolate party platters, trays of chocolate cups paired with bottled liqueurs, caramel corn, chocolate covered popcorn and the list goes on! I was going to make a really lame pun about being like "a kid in a candy store" when I went here, but I didn't want to stoop to that level...crap. I walked into Sweet Designs to get my mom something for Mother's Day this year. I was thinking, she's kind of easy to please. I'll just pick something simple out and call it a day. Not that easy. I spent a good half an hour staring into the cases at all my options. In the end I settled for some chocolate pretzels. I may have stole one before giving it to my mom. It was awesome.
