Kalamata olive and feta scone- yum!
    Michele B.

I finally had the chance to stop in to KB's! It's been on my list for years, just never made it that way at the right time. They post their Saturday specials every week and they always sound amazing, but this one especially lured me in. I stopped in late on a Saturday morning, expecting them to be sold out of some of their goodies. Not at all. The case was still stocked with beautiful pastries and sweets. I was helped immediately, even though there were about 5 people ahead of me. I was instantly swooning over the gorgeous cakes In The window and the charming decor. I honestly did not know they had a seating area, it was so cute! I said TO GO before I noticed the darling dining room. My transaction was swift and the girl was polite. I do wish there was a better parking solution. Lakewood, amirite? The apricot tart was fine Chocolate chip scone good Kalamata and feta scone was awesome ham Quiche was perfection. Crust was top notch and filling was set up expertly. I reheated it gently in the air fryer and this baby was exquisite. The portions were average and prices were competitive. These days, it is a treat to enjoy something local and homemade. It's always worth the cost to have the privilege of supporting a local business. I absolutely will return for more delights. The pastries were delicious and I highly recommend!

We ordered a birthday cake for three friends and sisters, who carry the nickname, "The Cake Committee". We are very critical of cakes and anticipate our yearly cake selection. The decision of where we should purchase a cake is well thought out. This year we chose an almond cake with buttercream frosting from KB. It was amazing. The almond flavor was subtle, yet distinct. The buttercream; perfection. And the cake decoration was beautifully executed. We savored every morsel.

The staff welcomed us as soon as we walked in and were very friendly. This is a small specialty shops with several desserts. The treats were very tasty and looked as good as they tasted.

    Wedding cake

We ordered our wedding cake through KB. We were very pleased with how it turned out. It was four tier with three different flavors. The owner met with us 2-3 times to discuss our cake. Their prices were very reasonable. Honestly this was the best chocolate cake I've probably ever had. We also got lemon crème/vanilla cake and strawberries & crème/vanilla cake, also delicious. But the chocolate cake was the deciding factor. Can't say enough. Would highly recommend!

    Absolutely delicious flavors!

I actually have been a customer for years. My husband and I used them for cupcakes and a small cake for our wedding day back in 2016 and still use them to this day, like this past weekend for my birthday! Why do we keep going back? The amazing flavors, the GF and vegan options, and the wonderful staff that is personal and detail orientated. Highly recommend!!

So I tried multiple products from here for the first time on Valentine's Day. The cake pops were really good and moist and tasted like a better version of a Starbucks cake pop. The macaroons were also very good and came in different colors and shapes which I thought was cute. Unfortunately, we ordered 6 cupcakes and every single one of them was dry :( the frosting was flavorless as well and overall just really disappointing. I could see myself coming back to enjoy some of their other products but not the cupcakes.

This review is only from a customer service perspective. We never got far enough with KB to actually taste their product. Anyone who has seen my reviews knows that customer service is absolutely number one for me and I will never come back to KB after this first experience with 3 different types of contact. My boyfriend and I were planning a 60th surprise birthday party and we wanted to design a cake based off of photos we found online. This was our first attempt at something like this, so we are by no means experts on what's possible or how it's achieved, but we set out to work with an established bakery with beautiful cakes. KB is very close to us so we set out to work with them. Our first contact was in person when we stopped in to talk about the cake. The woman behind the counter immediately took out an order sheet and started writing down what we said we wanted. This was uncomfortable from the start because we were looking for a consultation, not an immediate order. It was clear she did now actually make the cakes, so she couldn't answer a lot of our questions. She did, however, note that our general idea made sense and she told us to email in a detailed description and photos. We were there maybe 10 minutes total. I sent a very detailed email noting everything we wanted and several reference photos. Almost a week had passed and I heard nothing so I called. The woman on the phone sounded very rushed and flustered when I called. I told her I sent an email and hadn't heard back so I wanted to check on the status. The first thing she said was "oh yeah I saw this and there were several answers to what you wanted butwe were so busy with the holidays.. but yea" then she proceeded to talk through my email like you'd talk something out with yourself. She'd say if you want this flavor, you definitely can't do this design. This cake is fondant and no one likes to eat fondant so we don't do fondant. She proceeded to talk through every element of my cake and tell me what wasn't going to work and what they don't do. Incredibly disheartening. Again, I know I'm not an expert, but there are hundreds of photos online of a design just like ours, so we knew it was possible. We moved on to another bakery but well over a week later I received an email in response to my initial lengthy email with references saying "sorry we missed this email". Clearly their organization is off because they didn't realize they already talked to me twice. You'll see in the attached email they are telling me more of what they can't do and rushing me to place an order if I want a cake done. When I sent an email saying we'd decided to go with another bakery because of our experience I got a one word response "perfect!" Just a deplorable customer service experience. We found a wonderful bakery, Michael Angelos in Broadview Heights, that completed our cake exactly how we asked for it. We ended up with a cassata bottom tier cake and a raspberry chocolate mousse top tier cake with fondant, butte and rhinestones. It was stunning. If you want a cake that looks EXACTLY like one already in their albums, I'm sure KB would be fine. They also have a stunning garden room space you can rent. We, however, will never be back.

I've loved KB since they opened. The shop owners are local and their customer service and product are amazing. Went in today for macarons and they were stunning! Not a single flavor was less than phenomenal. While you might flinch at the cost for their bakery, it is worth every penny. If you get a chance to grab a coffee and sit for a spell in the green house, do so!

Our first time trying KB confections and we were very pleased! We ordered a cake for my boyfriends moms birthday online and it turned out spectacular! It was a plain vanilla cake and we opted for the "flower" design. It was absolutely delicious and so glad we picked to get it from here. Will definitely be getting more celebratory cakes in the future.

Purchased a two tier cake for my daughters 21st birthday, the cake looked amazing, I wasn't sure about the decor of the cake but the baker nailed it and on top of that it was so delicious. This was my second cake purchase and won't be my last! Thanks Sherease N.

Cinnamon Roll and two chocolate-dipped peanut butter brownies. I can't remember the whole name. Yum!

Let me start by saying, I'm a bit of a cake fiend. I love making cake. I love watching other people make cake. And, most of all, I love eating cake (and other pastries). KB Confections Bake Shoppe off Detroit in Lakewood is definitely the place to go to satisfy your bakery cravings. The first time I came to the shop was right before closing on a Thursday. They already sold most of the goodies, but I managed to pick up a chocolate-dipped macaroon ($1.75) and an apricot bar ($2.50 or $2.75, can't remember), before also picking up a conversation with the owners. These people, who purport to be fourth-generation Lakewoodites, are the most amicable, job-loving bakers I've met in Ohio thus far. All of the goods are baked in the back, and they even offer a full service coffee bar and a line of original roast blends. They even let me try a sample on the house, which I later went back and bought a bag of ($10). The macaroon was delightfully toasty, with the perfect amount of almost-crunch and chocolate-to-cookie ratio. The apricot bar was well-portioned, with a buttery, crumbly base, a layer of creamy goodness, topped off with a slathering of apricot jam. A huge selling point for me is that these aren't overly sweet. A lot of bakeries add more sugar than needs to be there in order to mask other unsavory aspects of their designs. But KBCBS goodies are a delight, plain and simple. Enough sugar to satisfy a cake gourmand without throwing a diabetic into shock. My next visit, I brought a few more people with me. We ordered the chocolate-dipped pretzels ($1.00 for two), an M&M minis cookie (around $2.25), banana pudding ($4.00 for around a pint), a coconut bar (around $2.25 or $2.50) and a peanut butter dog treat (free). The owner remembered my name, and one of his daughter's, who help run the place (his wife is the K, and he's the B, in KB Confections), gave us samples of the banana pudding, which sealed the deal. Whipped layers of cream and pudding envelope banana chunks and generous portions of wafer cookies. The coconut bar, one of my new favorite desserts, featured a thin, marzipan-like strawberry shell wrapped around two layers of white cake and a smear of frosting - it's big enough to split for an after-meal snack, but I ate the whole thing. The place itself is well manicured, and an attached greenhouse is being renovated to offer more in-house seating. They offer water for dogs outside, and free treats inside (my dog loved it). And their coffee bar has some original finds, none of which I can remember right now, sadly. I haven't tried any of their cakes, which are currently sold whole, although the owner said she may consider by-the-slice purchases at a later date. They also offer cupcakes, muffins, brownies, strudels and more. If you're in Lakewood and need a smile, this is the place to find it.
