This is a great spot for studying or catching up with friends. The area is spacious, but it definitely fills up with A&M students quickly. It has a very home-y feel, with a lot of comfortable seating, eclectic decorations and furniture, and a bookshelf where you can grab books and buy them if you wish. We drove all the way from Houston to check this place out and were not disappointed. I enjoyed both a blueberry muffin and the turkey avocado sandwich at good prices. Most places I have worked would clean the bathroom once a shift. It looks like they do it once a week. The management should take more pride in their establishment. Easily the best coffee joint in College Station, but that's not exactly saying much. Sweet Eugene's has a trendy, chill vibe that's more reminiscent of Austin than College Station. The place is usually pretty filled and parking out front can be a pain. The staff is young and friendly and the coffee is good, but nothing terribly special. Sweet Eugene's is perfect if you're in college and looking for a place to study or even meet some other coffee lovers. The Nutella crepe on the menu ain't half bad either. read more

My favorite place to study when I was in undergrad. Very close to campus and plenty of comfy seating. I would usually get a muffin and hot cocoa, and loved that they gave you an actual mug! It's more hyped than what you get there are better coffee shops in College Station. I love this place for coffee and crepes but this morning when I ran through the drive-through the guy that was working was very rude and made my friends and I feel very un welcomed. I did not get his name but when going to get your morning coffee you always want someone energetic and bubbly helping you. Where do I start? First of all the place is severely understaff I went on a Saturday morning at 10:00 and did not leave till 12:30! We walked up to the counter and ordered our food 2 donuts, 2 white mochas, and 3 crepes. The employee told us that there would be a 30-45 minute wait on crepes we said that was fine. We walked to a table and sat down. We sat there for 2 hours with no food. We finally went over to check and asked about our food. We told her we had order #11 and we had 3 crepes. She said that she hadn't even heard or seen #11 written down. (This was a different woman) She said she would start making our crepes after she finished the one she was doing. We stood there and waited and saw that in the crepes they don't even use real fruit. They used Strawberry jelly and Nutella. It was awful. It took her like 2 minutes to do each crepe. Which would obliviously not take 2 hours so something definitely went wrong there. I have to say the only thing good here was the coffee. We turned to go back to our table and saw 3 crepes that looked just like ours sitting at a table with #17 with flys all over them. When we asked they said they didn't know who's they were. I would say just go somewhere else for breakfast or eat at your hotel. read more

Pretty much a college station landmark, Sweet Eugene's will meet all your sweet needs! Even as a non-native college stationite, I had heard about the rad reviews about this place from my friends! I came the day after Thanksgiving to study for all the tests I did not study for over the holidays haha and so it was very empty compared to its usual scene! I just ordered a regular coffee, but the staff were super chill and not intimidating or anything and the coffee is the perfect blend! Not too bitter or sour, but just nice regular black coffee! The atmosphere is super poppin and trippy! Like they got all different kinds of rooms to suit all your needs! They have a room, which sorta looks like a library with books all around you and another room with art pieces everywhere! Giant couches and smaller tables and nooks and interesting light fixtures and room decor are scattered everywhere making for a giant eclectic bunch! Parking is super nice and convenient and abundant like all CSTAT locations and there's even lightning at the outdoor patio, which makes for great conversations and not to mention pictures! This place is very cute and eclectic and has a large variety of coffees, donuts, pastries, crepes, and sandwiches. I came here for brunch on Sunday with my friends, but while my friends, even the ones that ordered after me, got their crepes ~30 mins after ordering (they say it normally takes about 30 mins to make...which is exceptionally long if you ask me), mine was still not out an hour after I ordered. We asked about it a couple of times when we noticed that quite a few people who had ordered after me had received their crepes, eaten, and already LEFT. But the 3 servers we talked to all kept telling me that it took time to make the crepes, even though I told them that lots of people behind me in line had gotten their food half and hour prior. They obviously misplaced my order and didn't start making it until close to an hour after I ordered, but they just told me they "don't always make the crepes in the order that people order them". Needless to say I was a little frustrated that I had to eat an hour after my friends were finished with their food. The crepes were okay, however I ordered a crepe that the menu said included "your choice of fruit" and I was expected either fresh or canned peaches, and I got a crepe filled with sugary peach syrup, like the kind you use as an ice cream topping. I feel kind of misled. Despite these things, I really did like the atmosphere so I will be giving this place another try--hopefully they don't mess up my order again! read more

Service is awful. Basically it's disorganized young college hipsters trying to manage a long line of customers. We were made to feel completely uncomfortable several times. We were waiting in line and someone came to ask if they could start something for us. I said we aren't ordering coffee and they preceded to ask what we were ordering. so i told them what we wanted, in response they confusingly shook their head and said wait which I was already doing. If youre going to come and ask at least get the donuts for the 3 year old patiently waiting in your line. Later I asked a question and in response I got again a person confusingly shaking their head and instead of answering my question they said I'm working the window and ran back to the drive through window. Also the donuts are just some brought in from daylight donuts. They are good but skip this place a just go to a normal donut store. I ordered OJ and apple juice expecting them to be fresh squeezed...they were bottled. My husband order the crepe and said it was good but nothing worth dealing with this service for. I ordered gluten free oatmeal and gluten free cookies. The oatmeal was brought to be in a plastic container without a spoon and was gross. The cookies were really the only good thing about the visit. They are delicious gluten free and vegan. They do not make them in the store though. These are the only two gluten free items on the menu. Overall this place isn't the best in town for breakfast. Try The Village in downtown Bryan. It has the same atmosphere with a better menu, alot of gluten free options, and much better customer service. read more

Sweet Eugene's is an okay place to get work done, but ONLY if you do not need to use the internet. The internet connection is AWFUL! You would think that a coffee shop that has a ton of students at all hours of the day would have better wi-fi. The food and drinks are yummy, but I have stopped going because I can never connect to the internet. My classmates also have experienced the same frustration. Please fix the internet! Pros: *A wide variety of coffee, drinks, and food. The food ranges from treats (e.g., donuts, cookies, crepes) to meals (try the panini!) *The coffee is good, but not great. However, there's a lot of variety and seasonal drinks. There's something for everyone. *There's a lot of space and a variety of seating. There are comfy couches, stools and bars, and a lot of tables and chairs. *There's also a unique style and art to the decor. While it's not really important to me, if you're into that kind of stuff, it's worth mentioning. *The customer service is very good-- in fact, the best in the BCS area in my experience. The baristas are polite even when it is incredibly busy! *FREE wi-fi. No need for a password Cons - Most of the cons are only true during peak hours. Generally, you may want to avoid this place during 7-10 when school is in session. *It can be incredibly busy. While there is a lot of space for sitting, there's not a lot of space for walking. If you go during a peak time, you'll end up walking all over people and their stuff to find a place to sit. Similarly, people will be walking and bumping in to you to try and find a place to sit. *The bathroom (at least the men's) is not well taken care of during peak hours. There are a number of times when they were out of toilet paper, drying towels, and soap! Sometimes it can be kind of dirty too.The saving grace is that if you mention it to the baristas, they usually take care of it. *Similarly, the tables are not cleaned and cleared during peak hours. I guess there's not enough staff. I sometimes have to throw away other people's coffee and put up their plates. *The wi-fi can become incredibly slow and UNUSABLE during peak hours. In response, they have added more ports which has helped alleviate the problem. Still, even with additional ports, the wi-fi is TERRIBLE during peak hours. If you NEED wi-fi, you might want to steer clear of this place during high traffic times. *There are not a lot of outlets. Again, if you need a plug during high traffic times, you might have an issue. in short: This place is my go-to place for studying and hanging out. However, I usually try to get their early to secure a spot and an outlet. I also usually try to get any work that requires the internet done before I go. While the peak hours has it's problems, the coffee, food, and customer service generally makes for a positive experience. read more

Definitely will not be back. Five people, five drinks, all of which were not only disgusting, they weren't even remotely close to being on point. Two iced white mochas, very much like a glass of lightly browned milk. Strawberry smoothie, which want a smoothie, but crushed ice and strawberries, and sugar. (Sadly, this was the best of the bunch.) An Oreo java shake, almost black in the cup, very bland and off tasting. And, an iced white chocolate truffle, so sweet it practically have you an instant headache. Very lax staff, willing to TRY and help, to no avail. Very dirty, old furniture. Looks like they picked it up at a nearby dumpster. I think most of the patrons didn't even have a drink, just using the Wi-Fi. When we pulled up, a girl was leaving her almost full drink on the ground in the parking lot. Should've taken it as a sign. Don't make the mistake of coming here. It's not vintage, it's vile. When you open the door to Sweet Eugene's, the crisp smell of fresh coffee warms from the inside out, making one feel comfortable. Many people call it "hipster" but, I think of it as a "unique" coffee shop, which is perfect for me. When I imagine the best coffee shop, Sweet Eugene's pops into my head and I imagine myself in a comfy chair sipping my favorite latte. This coffee shop is perfect for making new friends and conducive to studying. This coffee shop is located in College Station, which is perfect because every college student needs their coffee for their all nighters. A student can be comfortable while studying or cramming vocabulary words for Econ. The environment is cluttered with lounge chairs, couches and tables. It's a good place to study, but be careful with the all nighters, it is so comfortable, you may just fall asleep. Every coffee shop has merchandise, but Sweet Eugene's is outstanding. Unique art is displayed on the walls throughout the 3-4 room shop making it feel like home yet serving another purpose; display for purchase. As the barista prepares your coffee or latte, the art can distract you from the wait. Imagining the random piece of art in your own living room is the marketing strategy of the owner. Something that I think is interesting is that they keep magazines in a vintage refrigerator. It's just random; who would put their magazines in a refrigerator? A bonus to the shop is that there is a small table with "gift shop" items. The t-shirts are hilarious. I have a t- shirt with "Eugene is my homeboy" printed on the front. Another t-shirt is printed with "I get some every morning" with a man holding a coffee cup while winking. They have other items like large coffee cups and on the go coffee cups. I have tried a couple of drinks from the shop. My favorite is the Snickers Latte. It's like a Snickers bar in a cup of coffee. Who would think of that combination? It's delicious. It may be a little too sweet for some people, but for people with a sweet tooth, this drink is for you. They have a good range of different types of coffee. I have never had a problem for waiting too long for a cup of coffee. If you like to have a snack with your coffee, there is a variety of types of food at the shop. From bagels to pastries, Sweet Eugene's has got you covered. I am not one to like a coffee shop that is a chain and throws your 5 dollar coffee at your face. If you want to just pop in and get a cup of coffee, then I suggest going to Starbucks. The originality of Sweet Eugene's deserves the extra attention. The shop should get praised and awarded for its pure genius of creation. Within their walls, that is where good heart to heart conversations are created. It may surprise you who you meet at coffee shops. That's what I like about Sweet Eugene's; when I go to get a cup of coffee, I just want to sit a while because I am comfortable in the warm cozy lounge chair. All that is missing is pajamas and fuzzy slippers. Many people may say I have high expectations for a coffee shop, but I have to feel safe and comfortable and actually enjoy my cup of coffee.
