As a college student, this coffee shop has been a staple in my college experience. One of the best things about Sweet Eugene's is its late hours, which makes it an easy first for me if I'm considering leaving home to go study somewhere. The menu is very large, with a ton of fun specialty drinks and food items (their donuts are actually really great), and it's easy to have the option to pick something totally different every time you go. Generally the coffee is not the best, since it leans pretty sweet, but I enjoy if nonetheless. This coffee shop was actually the first time I tried a vanilla latte, so it will probably always have a special place in my heart haha! Sometimes the environment can be a little overwhelming though, because depending on where you're sitting in the restaurant the music can be really loud and you can feel really smushed if your table is in a high traffic area. I've also generally accepted that I will have slow to no WiFi when I'm here, so I usually have to plan my studying accordingly. Overall, I really enjoy Sweet Eugene's when I'm in the mood and looking for a particular experience, but the lack of WiFi and ocasional overwhelming environment give me pause. read more

I have been going to this establishment since the day it first opened on my Birthday in 1994. It is a one of a kind coffee shop.

i really liked it here and appreciate how late they stay open! very cool atmosphere and fun to sit and read for a bit and sip on a drink!

So.. when I came here with friends we came with no expectations and we're overall just excited to try a new place. Well, it didn't turn out as expected. We each ordered sweets and coffee and while most of it was ok, the crepe was so bad that I had to write a review. The crepe took a minimum of at least 30 minutes and close to the 15 minute mark I even had to go up and remind them of my order. I'm pretty sure that they had forgotten about it as a couple other customers got served before I did. So.. when I finally got my crepe it was disappointing to say the least. It was raw and the filling tasted as if it was warmed up vanilla pudding. The apple filling was just thrown in there and overall it definitely wasn't worth a wait of at least 15 minutes. I couldn't even finish it and left it there. I tried to give them the benefit of doubt but it was terribly slow and by no means busy. Safe to say I don't recommend this place and while the vibe does seem cool the quality of product is not worth your time or money. read more

This was my first time visiting Sweet Eugene's and it was a solid experience. Visiting from out of town, I needed a coffee house that was open late so I could work on some assignments and Sweet Eugenes was just what I needed. I sat down in the back on one of the sofas and bunkered down in the books. I got a Ginger Peach tea which was great on a cold night after cheering on the Runners at Kyle Field all day. I did not get a pastry, but I saw many others getting a chocolate/almond cake which looked great. The restrooms were clean and overall the coffee house was a nice place to work. The WiFi is really spotty which made working online hard to do. There are multiple networks named after coffee puns, but you have to find the one which fits best with the spot you're located in which takes some time and effort. read more

My order??? What I recommend??? (well since you asked‍‍ hahaha) #1 iced caramel macchiato. You cannot go wrong. a smooth espresso flavor, blended w/ vanilla syrups & caramel sauce combines themselves to make a tasty coffee treat. #2 iced green tea latte (add vanilla) this drink I recently became obsessed because of sweet eugenes. It's literally just green tea, milk, ice, and vanilla syrup. it's so freaking hard to describe what it tastes like over text, but literally if you were to envision what "tea that's green" tastes like??? it's literally that. ^^^ also also you don't have to add the vanilla syrup, i like it both ways... it just adds a little hint of Heaven. there's a ton of room in there if you want to study but it always seems to be crowded... I have been coming to Sweet Eugenes since high school (I'm in dental school in Dallas currently.) Back in high school, this place wasn't nearly as popular as it is now, and I was able to do group projects here. Now, that would be pretty impossible during the school year because it gets so crowded with TAMU students. It's hard enough to find a single table. When I went to TAMU I never came here during the school year to get any work done because it gets so crowded and loud, full of people having bible studies and other social activities. Once, I saw someone get engaged here, which was just too much for the quiet coffee shop I desired. If you like a quiet, cozy atmosphere this might not be the place for you to get any work done. However, when its holiday season or the summer, I can come here and enjoy the atmosphere and be more relaxed. My high school friends and I come here to catch up when we are all back in town for the holidays- it's our spot. It's comforting.The decor still is the same as it always was. That's why I'm still giving 5 stars. It's popular for a reason. I usually go for a Rice Krispe Treat and a hot chocolate here. The sandwiches are also really good! My favorite coffee shop / study spot in College Station, even 10 years later. Their chai lattes (hot, cold or frozen/blended) are the most delicious chais that I have ever had. I wish there was more caffeine in them, but they are delicious. The cheesecakes and pies are rich and so good, the donuts are fresh and delicious too. The atmosphere is funky and fun, and you can put headphones in and study away. Lots of comfy spots for staying put, or a nice patio out front for when the weather is nice. read more

I can only start with: Oh wow. This cafe is huge and definitely has a character of its own. First walking in, I see slushie machines behind the counter mixing and chilling Butterfinger, vanilla, and chocolate smoothies. Farther down the counter is a display case with cute little donuts, muffins, and other pastries. A little farther down is the cashier with the menu, the drink machines out back, and more pastries (cakes, kolaches, muffins, quiches). On the left is the rest of the cafe. It extends into three open rooms with tables and chairs strewn about. There's this huge, antique coffee mill called the Behemoth or something like that. On the restroom doors, instead of W and M to designate gender, they have a picture of Audrey Hepburn and a picture of James Bond (I think)! Cute! There are couches along walls. There are enclaves with dimmer lighting and bookshelves to make it feel like something from...the pirate ride at Disneyland! The atmosphere is really mind-blowing here. I loved the paintings on the walls. Whoever the artist is, she is wonderful. About $200 for the two that I liked, "Fairy" and a dancer one in the bathroom. I want to buy it and bring it home somehow...(Sorry no picture. I figured I'd be infringing on copyright if I took a picture). The apple cinnamon muffin here was...absolutely ungodly amazing. I have never eaten a muffin with quite such chewy fluffy soft pillowy texture as this one. The apple muffin. Get it. Like, no joke. If you are in College Station, drag your butt here and get this. It's only $1.80 or close to that, and probably good to eat in two portions. The blueberry scone is delicious as well. Huge and filling, about $1.90. Again, warning, FILLING. Great to have a good scone place around here, just too bad it's so freakin' far away from the apartment and that the buses don't run on weekends. Sweet Eugene's also has breakfast, lunch, and dessert crepes. Not too bad pricing either ($4 for simple, $7 for lunch). I want to come here and try a sweet and a savory crepe some time. Basically, if you're in College Station, don't leave without going here. They even have a variety of java smoothies, fruit smoothies, and typical cafe drinks, which you can all order through their drive-through window! Oh, and two free wi-fi networks, both of which don't need a complicated password like in Berkeley! This place is awesome!!! read more

Great people own and work there. The pastries are good and the atmosphere is relaxing. Lots of students. I'm sure the coffee is great, but I'm a Chai tea girl. The Chai is a powder and not great. But you will enjoy the rest of this coffee shop. I'm not sure what happened, but the donuts took a nose dive. The chocolate frosted donut was Way Over sweet. The extra sugar glaze then the chocolate. NOT good. The Apple fritter had NO apples. The dough was undercooked & I think it was microwaved before it was handed to me. I paid over $4 for two items I threw out. Disappointed. read more

While I wouldn't call this place a coffee shop specifically, they do have coke decent coffee. (That's assuming you're one of those people who like milk/sugar in their cup). If you're not sure what to grab, I would definitely get the Sweet Eugene's Cappuccino. It's a normal cappuccino with a hint of brown sugar and cinnamon. Although they said that's the only stuff they put into their coffee, I felt like it had a hint of maple syrup too? Probs just the flavor. Anyways, they do make a decent cappuccino you should definitely try while you're here. I did notice that there were tons of tables - definitely a great place to study or catch up with friends. I came here on a Sunday afternoon with my sister for brunch. It was pretty busy inside and the tables are pretty close to being 6 ft apart. It's very cute inside and looks like it would be a great place to study. I got the Graceful Eggs It crepe and the Mayan Mocha to drink. The Graceful Eggs it was a little dry and could have used some sauce or something to make it easier to eat. The Mayan Mocha wasn't as spicy as I was expecting it. The next day I tried the Butterscotch Mocha which was really delicious. My sister also tried the Red Velvet Mocha with almondmilk and it tasted really watered down. Overall atmosphere inside of Eugene's is great, it's just a massive coffee shop that has a ton of nooks to study in. The coffee, food, and breakfast items they have a phenomenal as well cause they are all made freshly in house. The staff is all great too! They're all college students but nonetheless they keep Eugene's running seamlessly, and honestly it kind of makes me want to work here (contact me owner ). Only suggestions I really have to Eugene's is to maybe increase the shop size even more to the space that just opened up for lease next door to them. Additionally I would maybe ask them to invest in a mesh network based wifi solution instead of the numerous access points they have set up. Wifi can be slow or non responsive but as a customer I would say just reconnect to another one of the access points. Also considering the size of the shop the vibrating pucks that shops like Olive Garden uses would work great here. read more

I know it looks like I spit dip in this cup, as would be common in these parts, however I didn't--this is the remains of an iced coffee served to me. I watched the maybe-18-year-old polish off one container of iced coffee, go to the back for another, then continue filling the same cup. Did I mention the first iced coffee served to me included cream, which I didn't order. I also had two jalapeño sausage kolaches which were cold, despite an attempt to warm them in a microwave, served to me in a to go bag that I ate from on location, and about 90% bread. Large size of their Mayan Mocha (mocha with cinnamon) at $4.11 and a large'ish apple fritter $2.50 made for a quick breakfast in insanely funky & eclectic surroundings. The decor looked like it was designed by an A.D.D. art & history double major at Texas A&M just down the street who'd had a double shot of Eugene's delightful caffeination.
