This review is way long overdue. As a cupcake enthusiast I love this place. I've never been to the shop, but they are a vendor at the hospital I work at and always bring some sweet cheer to my day! What I love about these cupcakes are the insane number of flavors they have from Strawberry to Keyline, to Cotton Candy and Tiramisu (my fave) just to name a few. Each of these beauties capture the flavors well. I love how velvety smooth the icing is and how soft their cupcakes are (even though I've had the cupcake since Wednesday in the fridge...still good!!). Daniel, let me explain how gravity works. If "someone " had knocked over the pillar on the bottom tier AFTER the cupcakes were set up, the cake on the upper two tiers would have fallen and ruined the cake at the bottom as well. The frosting would have been ruined, and there would have been cake everywhere. There would have been no cake for us to cut at all. Furthermore, why wouldn't "someone" just put the support back if it wasn't altogether missing. Your version has so many holes. The only possibility at the cups being there without all of the cake getting ruined is that you put them there, and you're calling me dishonest. This business is very confusing. Their website doesn't work, so I called multiple times to get a quote on some cakes, but no one answered. I eventually left a message. Then I got a call back from a different number and a guy just said, "hello, you called me?" And I had no idea what he was referencing. Never identified himself as being from the bakery. Their prices seemed fair but I ended up going with a different baker that seemed more trustworthy since this is a work purchase. They soured my hubby's special day! Worst experience EVER! And they ruined my husbands birthday surprise! Extremely disappointed with the lack of professionalism and customer service at this establishment. Using a Groupon for one dozen cupcakes, I called the day before to preorder per the fine print. I also asked what time they closed they stated 6 PM. I am writing this after my third visit. This is without question, the absolute best cupcake store/bakery in St Pete! On each visit, I was greeted by a young man who goes by Scott. Scott was a pleasure from beginning to end. Always had a genuine smile.on his face and extremely polite (which has become the exception and not the rule nowadays. I believe my husband and I have now worked our way through at least 25% of their cupcakes and have.never been disappointed and in fact, have been nothing short of 100% pleased! I encourage everyone to to try them out. If you only buy one, eat it in your car. That will surely save you the drive back when you decide to buy a dozen! When I went in there was no one until I yelled "hello?" I came because I saw there was a free cupcake coupon on Yelp but when I asked about the lady said "I have no idea how that got there". She ended up giving us free cupcakes anyways. The cupcake was red velvet, it had a lot of frosting on it. The frosting had droplets of water on it so we didn't really eat it but the cake part was amazing. Can't really complain because it was free!!! read more

The cupcakes are moist, frosting flavors are good and they have a good variety to chose from. I was just disappointed because we had a dozen different cupcakes and not one had a filling. I ordered a custom cake for my little ones first birthday, and it turned out fantastic! My husband drew up n elaborate sketch that would have been costly in fondant, but they worked with me to get me a cake in my price range. It turned out way better than I could have ever imagined! I'm not a fan of cake, but it tasted great! The cake lovers said it was so moist and flavorful. The manager was also polite and professional, which is always good. My story here is a bit unique... In May 2014, a close friend of mine was traveling to her hometown near the Saint Petersburg area. Since her birthday was approaching, I thought to surprise her with cupcakes - delivered to her home after she got in. Via Yelp, I came across this place. At the time, there were a variety of reviews (not sure where they all went now?) and after looking over their website, I thought to give it a try. I was able to select the flavors (so many flavors!) and also specify the address of where the cupcakes were to be delivered. As it accepted the Wesley Chapel, Florida address and my order had gone through, I presumed the request was A-OK... Though I was wrong... As I wanted to ensure the cupcakes would get delivered, I called the next day to confirm the order. The woman picking up the phone was kind though she relayed there had been an error on their site and hence no delivery of the cupcakes was possible. I even offered to pay extra to cover any delivery cost. ((Note, this is a very good friend of mine therefore I truly wanted to surprise her!)) I would have picked up the cupcakes myself - though with me being across the country in California, that was not possible. Anyhow again the woman apologized as they were somewhat short-staffed and Wesley Chapel was "far" - hence, the delivery was impossible. Oh well; I'm an understanding person and accepted her words. Then, nicely inquired re: a refund as the charge had gone through on my credit card. Hmmm not sure how they charged me when I ended up getting no cupcakes / service from this experience... She stated she was unable to issue a refund back onto my card though would mail a check to me via postal mail. Sounded a bit odd though I said okay. Weeks later, I got the check... But when I attempted to deposit it into my account, it BOUNCED - as the account had been closed, and my bank charged me $6 for the bounced check! What the heck... In October 2014, I initiated this review so as to share the above story. And in December 2014, I was contacted by the owner... He apologized for the mishap and offered to refund the amount that was owed to me - including the $6 that was charged to me by my bank. Very kind of him & sweet. At this point, I truly appreciate the owner taking the step to make the correction. I'm re-rating this review though I am unable to give five stars - as I have not consumed their sweets. Very disappointed and if I could give them zero stars I would. I bought a Groupon for my daughter's birthday cake. The Groupon stated to call to order the cake and give 48 hr notice. When I called, he seemed ready to take my order till I told him I had a Groupon. Then, he said I needed to come into the store to order the cake. When I balked at that, he said someone would call me back. After I waited 3 1/2 hrs, I called them back. He stated they were too busy to make the cake and I should have given them.a week's notice. My friend just brought home some cupcakes for his birthday. He ordered the chocolate cupcake with German chocolate cream, coconut flakes and toffee (?) filling. I only tried one cupcake but thought it was really good. The flavors were really rich. My favorite was the filling. The cupcake itself it is pretty heavy and a decent size. I gave them two because the butter cream frosting - what little of it there was - was good. Otherwise, I would not go back. The "regular" cupcakes are smaller than a Hostess cupcake and kept way behind the counter in a cooler, so you can't see what you're ordering. They have very few flavors. If you want the size cupcake you'd get at Publix bakery, you have to order them at least 48 hours in advance. No place to sit for a snack with tea or anything. I wish I could give Sweet no stars. I was with my best friend each time she met with Daniel to discuss her wedding cake (and mine for my wedding a month later). For the tasting he had us taste test cupcakes that were good. However the day of the event the cake looked nothing like either of the plans and her base layer had no filling. His cupcakes do not translate into cake form at all. On top of botching the taste and design of the cake I also watched when Daniel made the delivery. He pressed a broach into the frosting causing the frosting to pull up and smear all over the back of the broach. There was nothing to be done at that point that would have resulted in anything but stress for my friend so I did not say anything. After the experience with my friend's cake I no longer had any confidence in Sweet's ability to create my wedding cake. My fiance and I met with Daniel to ask for a refund on our $180 deposit factually stating our worries. Daniel suddenly turned from the smiling person who so eagerly accepted our money into someone with the maturity level of a middle school child that got caught doing something wrong. He lied about there being anything wrong with my friend's cake and claimed that we must have pushed the broach in. He began to raise his voice, cutting us off at any attempt to ask a question, and generally behaved in the most embarrassing manner repeating over and over "It's my money now, I don't have to give you anything." Fortunately my suspicions about Daniel not writing things down and having a terrible memory were correct. I asked a friend to go in with my info and attempt to change my order to cupcakes so no more money would be wasted at Sweet. Luckily Daniel did not remember a thing and switched the order to $180 worth of cupcakes. However this also bring up the concern that someone could go in a change an order with no more information than a name and a date. read more

Bear with me while I write a story that is going to sound beyond awful. So I made my order for an event on the 1 of November, exactly a week before the event and even called them the next day to confirm, which someone gladly did saying that they had received the order the night before. Fast forward to the actual day of the event, the cupcakes were supposed to arrive at 11:45 am, but did not and no one called me so at noon, I called them, concerned and asked where the cupcakes were as people had already started coming to the event. When I called, the man sounded mentally displaced and did not really give me a specific reason as to why the cupcakes were not there on time. I think, he said that they had forgotten or something. I asked them if sending someone to pick it up would help fasten the process and the guy gladly agreed. My mother left to pick the cupcake up and ended up going to the wrong address which gave them about 20-30 minutes of extra time by the time she got back to the right location of the store. Close to 1 pm, my mother arrives with the cupcakes and says that the guy asked her if she could wait and she replied saying that the event ends close to 2 and that she couldn't. She also told me that they were basically dumping random cupcakes. After my event came to an end I called the guy (the manager I think) and asked him how they were planning to make up for the damages and he replied saying that, he would refund me with the delivery fee, ($10) which by the way was never delivered. Note that there has been no sense of apology or whatsoever from his side and both of us agreed that I would call him back again at the end of the day. Too tired from the event, I called them back the next day and this is when things got really ugly and discriminatory. I began the conversation by asking him the same question, "have you thought about how you..are going to compensate" I got the same, "we will refund your $10 fee back" to ultimately him telling me that "This is not India, this is America." I have never met this guy (the order was made online) before in my life, and here he is describing my ethnicity/nationally and the funniest part is I am not even from India and I have no idea why he said that, nobody has ever said that to me before. I was shocked and also the guy was having a meltdown on the other end, where I had to ask him to calm down (ironical since I am the one supposed to mad pissed) he said he was going to hang on me, and did so vehemently. I called him again and no one answered. At that point, I had immediately decided to let go off it and did not care to be compensated, knowing how ruthless and unprofessional the man sounded. However, my parents, classmates, and friends, angry and shocked, did not think so and said that the store should give me at least half of the money back. Know that at this point, it is not even about the money, it is about getting this stuck up arrogant person to get to understand that they made a mistake and to acknowledge. Isn't that what entrepreneurs or humans do? Moving on, fast forward to the day my dad called him and went down, guess what happened? He refunded $50 and know that, it was my family who suggested that it was a good idea to send a man down to the store. My dad also said that, the guy never truly apologized. I don't know what his problem is. I have been to hundreds of cities around the world and my my, have I never met someone so arrogant, a bully, so ignorant like him. I attempted to teach my high school business students a lesson in supporting small local businesses by ordering the cake for our induction ceremony from Sweet. I picked the wrong business to support. The cake was dry with only a thin layer of filling in the middle. So thin that those eating the cake thought it was simply a vanilla cake. I specifically ordered the design on top to be made of fondant and was instead given a cake with a poor quality edible print. It also took calling 20 plus times over the course of a week to get a copy of my receipt to submit to the school for reimbursement. read more

Gluten-free disaster! As a gluten free dairy free person, I'm always looking for a special cake for my birthday that I can actually eat. I happen to love Marble Cake. So when I found this place on line I had high expectations. Boy did they disappoint. When I went to pick up the cake the owner or manager was there. The cake was in the freezer. I should have just left because I've always been told by bakers you can't freeze a gluten-free cake. So I asked the guy what was in it and he said they used Palm Oil. Reason number two to run, most healthy cooks stay away from that toxic oil. But against my better judgment, I left with the cake. My wife, two kids and I had the cake last night. The icing had a chemical taste to it. (I've never seen anyone put icing on a marble cake), but it was probably to hide the marble cake inside which tasted like cardboard. It was lumpy, and hard, which might be why other bakers don't freeze gluten-free cakes. It was one of the worst cakes (for $55 by the way) that we've ever had. So my wife contacted the owner and we got him on the phone. He will say we were rude to him, and he is right, because we were so disappointed by how lousy his product was. He also offered nothing to make us happy or try to earn our business again. So while we probably should have been nicer on our end, he should have owned up to the possibility that his product was bad, instead, he made it seem like we were the first customers to not like his creation. That is certainly an interesting way to run a business, good luck with that. To salvage some dignity we'll throw out the cake and just eat the box. For sure it will be healthier, and it will likely taste better than that cake. read more

I have to say i am very disappointed in my brief experience with this business. I first became familiar with Sweet! as I work in the hospital setting, and a few of their cupcakes are available there. From what ate, they are delicious. Very moist, the icing and flavors are nice. Thus, I decided to give them a try. First I have to say, if you have multiple sites, including your own website, stating that you are open for business, then that is what I expect when I call or drive by. Not the case. I put in an order on their site, as prompted by their phone message. I have to say the website makes it very easy to order the cupcakes, getting them is a different story. After putting in my order, and receiving a confirmation, I then waited, and hoped someone would contact me. Not the case at all. I then drove by, and they were not open, although their hours of operation state otherwise. I left voicemail, and sent an email, with concerns if I was going to receive my cupcakes. Honestly, if you are going to allow folks to place orders online, for in store pick up, or however, I suggest the option for your customers to pay when they come to pick up. Otherwise, this really gives a strong impression that you are just taking peoples money because I have yet to have heard from anyone from Sweet! which is incredibly disappointing. The other reviews that gives low stars based on customer experience, it's disappointing when you have to agree because you are dealing with similar experiences. I plan to follow up on Monday, and if I am still not able to get through, I will have to contact my bank to cancel the transaction. It is very sad to have these circumstances occur, especially because I've had their cupcakes before, and have really enjoyed them. Customer services is equally crucial, and it's sad this company does not values the importance of this. Update: I am pleased to say that I received a phone call today (the next day), and appreciated being given a reasonable explanation, as well as complimentary cupcakes. The owner, or I assume owner was polite, and met my expectations for having not been available yesterday. His follow up call, and gesture to refund my purchase after the mix up is how you bounce back on customer service. Thank you Sweets! read more

I called the listed number numerous times throughout the day to request a refund only to reach a voicemail box not accepting messages. I purchased an on-line deal for one dozen cupcakes. I found out when I ordered that I wasn't able to choose the flavors. My husband wanted strawberry and I was told on the phone that it wasn't one of the choices.
