Wow! I think I just died and went to heaven! Cake Affection is a perfect place for any sweet tooth! The brown sugar/cinnamon "pop tarts" were fantastic! We have two different cupcakes for later but if they are even half as good we are in for a real treat. The family that owns it are amazing and are putting out products that are made with real love. The service is incredible and friendly. Everything in the shop from T-shirts to grass fed meats from the family farm are all laid out for the casual shopper and also shows the amazing quality they put into everything they sell. This is a place, we will be visiting a lot in the future. We ordered my husband's birthday cake from them and it was ok, not delicious the frosting was a bit like crisco.. if you're old enough to remember that taste. The chocolate middle was very good. Again, the prices are crazy and they want to up charge for everything. Which is ok, if you're having a special event and you're gonna do it right I don't mind paying for it but what really upset me is they didn't have any candles.. When we went to pick up the birthday cake they said they were out of candles. How do you then run to a store with a Cake in your car search searching for candles right before an event I think a store like that should have candles for their customers. My wife found this bakery and we took a shot. Photos on website looked nice, had some decent reviews. She wanted the drip cake for her bday, this cake is $110 plus tax. I have to say, I hit some red flags just on the website. These cakes do not seem at all customizable. When I ordered the cake, I called and left a VM, and emailed to see if we can get an extra filling. I never heard from them so I figured it was not going to happen, even though I would have been happy to pay extra. The cake looked nice. The downfall is when we cut into it. As you can see, they gave me an apple core of the filling. You would basically get none on your piece but for the very tip. The whole cake was frosting. I'm a little miffed that I payed over $110 for the cake and got a thimble of filling. The cake was very meh. My wife was a bit disappointed on her bday. I won't be coming back here. read more

We ordered six cupcakes, homemade organic cotton candy and a brownie. Everything was so beyond fresh, it was insane. The brownie tasted as if it was baked an hour before I purchased it. This has been the one place everyone has been telling me to go to for YEARS now. What kept me so long was not knowing where the place is and how to get there, but, as fate would have it, one of my favorite dessert shops closed, and thus began my perilous quest (and if you drive around the Tampa Bay area, you'll know that's no exaggeration, going ANYWHERE around here is a perilous quest) to search for this shop. I also just so happened to learn how to use the GPS on my smartphone I've had for two years, so off i went. The drive really isnt that bad once you get the hang of it. The shop is rather conspicuous, so i found it tight away. I love how they have a huge assortment of cupcakes and a rotating menu of different flavors per month. The very first cupcake i zoned in on was the egg nog cupcake. I was blown away by the flavor as it captured the flavor of egg nog perfectly in both the cake AND the icing. The cake itself is very soft and the icing is smooth and velvety--not at all too sweet! They also sell french style macarons, a treat i have not had in years, and i enjoyed the delightful crisp outside and chewy inside filled with a velvety cream. These too come in many flavors and went WONDERFULLY with my cupcake! I came back for another visit to get my hands on their strawberry champagne cupcake for their January special and I am now SOLD to this place as a regular stop for a sweet fix! read more

First time here! Tasted these cupcakes at the Yelper party and decided to add them to my list of places to try. I went on a weekend day the place was not busy at all. They had plenty of all the cupcakes on display available so I felt like I hit the jackpot. They pride themselves on the unique icing they use which a French version of buttercream and much lighter than our traditional version. I kept them cool with the AC all the way back to Tampa and dove in when I got home. First impression, they tasted exactly like I remembered. Very light almost like there is no butter lol. Don't get me wrong, the flavor was very good but as a true southerner I find it hard to stray away from down home butter-laden buttercream frosting. The red velvet and the lemon one have cream cheese frosting. Honestly I just didn't vibe with the red velvet but the lemon meringue was in the top 5 of cupcakes that I've ever had! My boyfriend moved into a house right next to Cake Affection, so driving by it every day was TORTURE until I finally convinced him to go in! The shop is quaint and clean. Only one table, if I recall correctly, but a beautiful set up inside. There is a chalkboard with the full menu and prices, but ask for what special flavors they baked for the day. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, especially when I couldn't decide what flavor I wanted! Cake Affection serves cupcakes, cheesecakes, cake AND cheesecake pops, key lime pie, French macarons, marshmallow treats, cupcakes in a jar, and they also serve coffee drinks. The cupcakes are displayed gorgeously on the counter with descriptions next to them. They are all first-come, first-served, and flavors are done for the day if they sell out. We decided to split a 4-box between cupcakes and cheesecakes. I chose the mint dark chocolate cupcake. They advise you to eat the cupcakes at room temperature, but I liked mine chilled. The frosting is light and fluffy, not heavy and overpowering the cake. The cake itself is moist and flavorful. You can tell a lot of love and care goes into baking the cupcakes (and all the desserts really). The cheesecakes really knock it out of the park though. They're incredibly tasty: the base is moist, the top layer is smooth and firm, and I basically had to fight my boyfriend for the last crumbs. They are described as "New York style" cheesecakes, and you can get a choice of flavored drizzle on top. We got 1 plain cheesecake and 1 raspberry drizzle on top... Very flavorful but not too sweet. I absolutely LOVED it!! The desserts are boxed in a lovely blue box with string. Their presentation makes their desserts a great gift idea (if you want to share). I've been here twice and I'm officially hooked. The cupcakes are fresh and made to perfection. Where do I begin? The variety of cupcakes is very interesting. There is a Maple Bacon (couldn't eat it myself), Twisted Sister (chocolate and caramel), Death by Chocolate, Kentucky Bourbon, coconut flavored, etc. Every day, the menu changes. I do not understand how you can turn down a birthday party special order because you're "too busy" and "it has to be over $400". Ok fine. You want to establish yourself as a higher end bakery. That's fine. Just giving some feedback. Your frosting is delicious, but your cakes are all missing something. I guess no one would notice because you can douse the cakes in that wonderful frosting. Oh, and if you are such a high end bakery refusing to do orders that are not over $400, why do you give out boxes with hand stamped logos instead of special made logo boxes? I hope you do not get to enjoy success with that kind of attitude. This was a poor choice of words for a potential customer that loves bakeries. What a treat it was to come home on my birthday to a Tiffany-blue box of beautiful cupcakes from Cake Affection. So delicately were they decorated that it would have been a shame not to photograph them. I was able to muster enough self-control to snap a pic before jumping in. Choosing which to eat first was difficult. I love coconut so my eyes immediately went to the white-flaked island dream. Then there was the beautiful simplicity of the cinnamon-dusted dollop atop the apple cinnamon. Though who could resist the snazzy s'mores cake, with a chuck of chocolate towering over a sprinkled arc of graham cracker crumbs? But that lemon - it had sprinkles and a decorative flower!
