I'm so disappointed with the new menu. The old menu had more salad options and specifically, more vegetarian options. The new menu seems very chicken/bacon forward. There is no more tofu. The Tiki Thai and the Greek roots were my go-to lunch options. There is still a make your own option but there are fewer toppings now and it's more expensive to try to cobble together a good salad. The food is alright, but the customer service SUCKS! It's awful. It was my first time visiting a sweet leaf and I will not be back. I had questions and the ladies preparing my food were not answering them. They were snappy with me and tried to rush me through the line. Then started talking in another language and rolled there eyes at me. So disrespectful. It's also very expensive, two salads were $26.00. For that price we should have been in love with our salads, but that was not the case. My fiancée's salad was very bland. He even ordered one of the more popular ones. I work in the area and was very excited for a make-your-own salad place to open. Sweet Leaf doesn't disappoint, and has many other fresh menu offerings that I'm excited to try. The Healthy Start breakfast sandwich is also delicious and filling. Although the prices are a little high, the amount of salad and sandwich you get is pretty generous. So I've been here three times and while I've always enjoyed my food -- I get a make your own salad -- the service is the worst!! So bad that I will not return. One of the ladies making my food always rolls her eyes at me when I ask for a modification or substitution. And twice she has messed up my order and when I correct her, she rolls her eyes and does not fix it. My first Yelp review is for a salad. Depressing. Got a Cobb with wilted browning lettuce, sliced turkey and ham (which is not weird for a sandwich, but odd in a salad), brown avocado, and a side of bread that was just a stale slice from a loaf of regular wheat bread. Adding the ham and turkey was an additional $4.00. So after tax it was a $12 medium-sized terrible salad. Didn't end up eating any of it (don't worry, it's in the fridge for the bf because he eats everything). Just a strange experience. Sweetleaf has a number of interesting combinations on their menu, though I'll confess that when I stop by I'm much more likely to make my own combination. And, despite the guidelines listed for custom salads, I've never had trouble having the servers substitute my "crunch" for another veggie. Servers seem also to be quite willing to use any dressing combination (eg plain vinegar), and all salads come with a slice of bread, a pickle, or both. read more

After a fairly intense workout, I was craving an Italian Store sub, but managed to get myself under control and opted for a salad at Sweet Leaf. The options are endless and the staff is super friendly. My salad was fresh and yummy, but HUGE! I would love to see an option for a smaller salad, as the regular size is two meals for me. And of course, it's pricey so half the salad/half the price would be a huge plus :) Also, I'm not sure if I was just missing something, but I think some clear direction for ordering would be helpful (what items/where to order first, etc). It was a bit confusing and I was thankful to be there before the lunch rush. Sweet Leaf is a fantastic, locally owned salad and sandwich shop. The menu has great options and there are plenty of options for making your own custom salad or sandwich, too. When in the Commonwealth, I frequently stop here for a San Remo or Santa Fe salad, my two favorites. The portions are large so you won't leave hungry, and I like that my salad isn't swimming in dressing (although you could probably request that if that's how you roll). The ingredients are always fresh, the staff is always friendly, and the interior is well-designed and clean. I highly recommend visiting if you're in the area and want a healthy and fresh meal. read more

I usually love Sweet Leaf - healthy alternative to many fast food places in the Court House area. My only complaint is that they move the line so quickly that it does set them up for mistakes. A few screw ups in a relatively short amount of time. Today I ordered a California Cobb salad -no bacon. I don't eat mammals. They heaped on Bacon. I told them again, no bacon so she just started picking the bacon out while glaring at me. Not only was she picking out the bacon but also picking out part of the avocado, egg, cheese crumble... In the end - I got my salad, but still with bacon bits in it and 1/2 the other good stuff. Terrible customer service today. And I went near 2 PM, not peak "in the weeds" time frame. Not the usual but just so you know, if you're vegetarian they may not happily oblige. *UPDATE* - I have been back many times and no more snafus. A fluke happens to us all so I now give it 5 stars! Their salads are fresh, interesting, and huge. I like this a lot more than Chop't. The back room is a really great atmosphere for studying/working from home. It's cozy. I've always received great service and love that everything is so fresh. I think they need to work on their branding. You can't tell from the outside that this place is clean and delicious. LOVE Sweet Leaf!! I work in the Courthouse neighborhood and visit SL at least once a week. As I have to follow a gluten-free diet, this place is very accommodating and makes lunch easy, fun and delicious. The salad bar is awesome and the lettuce wraps are good, too. Good wholesome locally grown food. We ate breakfast and sat in the dining room. Interesting decor and pleasant staff. Only thing is the breakfast sandwich only consists of sandwiches. The staff offered me another alternative of using a Kale leave to wrap the eggs/Swiss/mushroom and it sounded great. Didn't realize though just how "peppery" kale leaves are and I ended up taking out the filling after the first half and eating it with my fingers. Another location of my favorite cafe in Arlington. Sweetleaf is one of the few nicer restaurants/cafes that have opened in the Courthouse Area. This particular location has a very quaint back room lounge area where you can relax alone or comfortably with a group of friends. The decor is different but along the same lines as the other locations. Usually a salad doesn't fill me up but these things will. Plenty of leafy greens and options. Best salad bar line-up I've had. They mix all the options you want in a large metal mixing bowl as you point to different greens, cheeses, dressings, and other interesting fixings. I love the fact that I can get a pretty OK salad really close to the office but, it's disappointing that it's from Sweat Leaf at the point. When it's nice I'll walk further to Seeetgreen instead. Why? Well, because Sweet Leaf is petty terrible. They staff are kind of not very interested in providing any customer service. I've had mistakes after mistakes after mistakes and they don't take the extra step to please the customer. Over the last couple of months I've seen their portion sizes dwindle. This is really my biggest concern. What was a once full "filled to the top" to-go salad bowl now struggles to be 75% full. This goes for both salads and their grain bowls(which are even skimpier). They don't like to sub proteins out on their signature salads and asking for extra ingredients is a challenge for them. If it wasn't the healthiest option around on some days, I wouldn't frequent this location. read more

I have eaten here a few times for breakfast and lunch. There is never a line and the servers are always quick to assist you. For lunch, I got a bowl that consisted of rice, falafal, vegetables, and sauces. The Mediterranean flavors went together very well. The rice was a bit crunchy, but it made for good left overs. Their Mediterranean toast for breakfast is essentially just an improved avocado toast that is incredible. The ingredients taste fresh and all the flavors go together very well. Best lunch option in Court House by a long shot! Great ingredients and their salads are some of the best I've had. I really like how when you order a protein in your salad/sandwich they actually take a whole chicken breast (or etc.) and chop it before your eyes.
