Broken plastic found in Berry Haze smoothie

Be CAREFUL what you order from here. I ordered a berry haze smoothie and found several pieces of hard plastic in my berry haze smoothie AFTER I had already drank from it. My toddler almost drank some but thankfully I found the plastic before he did or else he would have been injured. I called sweet leaf immediately and the lady on the phone could barely understand me and ofcourse they had no manager on site. Several days later after basically chasing them down, I was able to speak to a manager who couldn't tell me how plastic could've got into my smoothie and simply offered me a replacement meal. I also spoke to their district manager who was unapologetic, SMUG and RUDE about the whole incident. He then accused me of being "mean" to their staff over the phone after finding and ingesting plastic in my smoothie. What mother would not be upset? I almost fed my 13 month old toddler this smoothie. Please beware of this place. I note this isn't the first time I had an issue with the berry haze smoothie. A previous time I ordered it there was a strange bitterness in there, but I didn't bother reporting it. However finding plastic in my smoothie was something I couldn't ignore. There is clearly a systemic issue here and possible lack of oversight.

    Chimichurri bowl

Alright...I've walked by Sweet Leaf for 2 years and never thought to go in. My friend told me she heard that it was good, so we decided to try it for dinner and I am impressed! Great prices and great food. We both got the Chimichurri Grain Bowl and WOW. It was $14 for steak medallions, turmeric rice, avocado, roasted corn, tomato, cilantro, organic baby spinach, lime squeeze and chimichurri. There was a lot of steak and the avocado and little pieces of corn took this bowl to the next level. This would have been $25 anywhere else and it wouldn't have tasted as good. I can't believe I've been sleeping on this place! If I had to compare it to another place, I would say its like a mix of sweetgreen and cava, but healthier and with more options because they also have sandwiches, bowls and salads. This location has outdoor seating.

There's certainly no shortage of fast casual salad, sandwich, and smoothie spots in the DMV, but Sweet Leaf still somehow manages to stand out as one of the best. It's ingredients are consistently fresh and high quality, without a single blemish to be seen. They have a great variety of toppings and protein choices, including roasted veggies, falafel, and tofu for my vegetarian friends. I'm extra particular, so I usually opt to build my own, but their pre-selected menu options are also delicious -- it's hard to turn down their falafel tzatziki bowl! If salads or grain bowls aren't your jam, you can always opt for something a little more handheld -- they have great sandwiches and smoothies (I can't say enough great things about their Berry Blanco or Very Verde). If you swing by for breakfast, you can grab their take on a harvest bowl or an extra fancy avocado toast. What really sets Sweet Leaf apart is it's consistency, high quality, fast and friendly service, and wide selection. If you're looking for a casual spot for a quick bite, definitely give Sweet Leaf a try!

    Sunrise Burrito

Good service, solid breakfast burritos, and nice atmosphere inside. I stopped by on a weekday morning as the bagel shop nearby seemed to be pretty full. I decided to get the sunrise burrito, and it was quite flavorful. Not too large of a portion, but also worth the price in my opinion.

$8 for avocado toast with barely any avocado--just a few thin slices. Wild upcharge for what's basically a slice of bread for lunch.

Today was my first day entering this local in over 2 years and still the same. It was nice seeing some of the same old faces working here, staff always have been super friendly and sweet. From personal experience, this is hands down one of the best locations. The line is worth the wait.

Stumbled upon this cute little place while staying in the area! Loved how it offers lots of customizable veggie/healthy options. You can create your own salad, grain bowl, or sandwich, add other protein or extra veggies, then top it off with a house-made dressing. They also have other preset bowls/sandwiches as well as smoothies. Not only do they have a good variety of vegetables to pick from, but also have a wide selection of cooked veggies and toppings for you add to your bowl such as grilled corn, roasted zucchini, roasted red peppers, tomatoes, tortilla chips, croutons, etc. Want to give a shoutout to their pesto vinaigrette cause it was SO bomb!! Loved how it was super basil-y and not too sour. They were also very generous with their steak pieces. Appreciate how they keep sustainability in mind and utilize compostable bowls and utensils. The store itself was pretty spacious with good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Staff were nice and patient with me being indecisive hahaha. If you're looking for a chill place with healthy options, I'd definitely recommend Sweet Leaf!

I think sweet leaf cafe might be my new favorite fast casual place. I ordered a craft your own salad with roasted veggies and it was so tasty and fresh. Would highly recommend for a quick, fresh and healthy meal. I ordered on the website and my salad was ready for pick up as soon as I got there.

    Delicious smoothies!

Ordering online from Sweet Leaf requires an account set up, which requires a verification code that for some reason wasn't transmitting today (tried for 45 minutes). I called and Deeana was super helpful with a complicated order of salads, sandwiches, smoothies, etc. The order was ready when we arrived, is accurate, and Deeana was cheerful and an absolute pleasure. She welcomed everyone who walked in while we were there - so nice to meet such a positive person! Food is fresh and full of flavor. The salad dressings really stood out. We will definitely be back!

Great fresh food! Super good! Great smoothies and salad. Enjoy the walk around area and shop.

The Italian Store has so many Italian subs to choose from, but I went with the Milano, their most popular sub. The combination of the sweet and spicy peppers really made this sandwich stand out. There was just the right balance of flavors, and I can definitely see why it's one of their most popular choices. A heads-up when ordering: They typically have several sandwiches pre-made and ready to go, but if you want something made fresh to order, you'll need to order by phone or online. At least at the Lyon Village location, you can't order a made-to-order sandwich directly at the counter. So if you have your heart set on a freshly made sub, plan ahead! Of course, no Italian sub is complete without chips. They carry Route 11, a Virginia-based chip company, and they had several varieties available: lightly salted, dill pickle, Chesapeake Crab, Mama Zuma's Revenge, and salt & pepper. I went with the lightly salted, which was the perfect pairing with my Milano. Unfortunately, the Lyon Village location doesn't have fresh gelato, so I had to settle for the pre-packaged variety. I went with the caramel gelato, and it was delicious! It wasn't overly sweet, which I appreciated, although it was a little on the expensive side. The store was pretty busy when I stopped in, with several people inside and a few others enjoying the outdoor tables. They also sell pizza by the slice, or you can order a whole pizza to take home. I saw several people leaving with whole pizzas, so clearly I need to add that to my next visit. Between the Milano, Route 11 chips, and caramel gelato, this was a fantastic first experience. Definitely coming back -- next time, I'm trying the pizza!

Well seasoned with a good crunch. The steak and cheese for me was a mixed bag...I saw my food coming and was dumbfounded by how big the bread was, and I didn't see any meat popping out. Pulled the sandwich open and saw what little meat I got. For $12.95, I feel a little ripped off. Especially when places like The Broiler and George's Steak and Things offer similar prices with an astoundingly higher meat in the meat to bread ratio. What little of the meat was available was delicious. I wish I had gotten a sub-$13 worth, not barely $7.65. Not sure I could come back. With how much I paid, it felt like a diminished return. It only took a quick 10 minutes to receive our entire order, which was 3 burgers, a crispy fried chicken sandwich, loaded fries, and 2 milkshakes! The smashburgers are made with 100% halal beef and they come out HOT with perfectly crispy edges on the patties and a juicy center. We ordered 3 burgers and each of them stood out in their own way. You can get a single, double, or triple patty burger and add whatever toppings to it too. The jalapeño burger was the star of the show, it had a such a nice and spicy kick to it. I wasn't expecting much but this burger had HEAT! Another favorite was the Juicy Lucy. It was packed with grilled onions and the patty was stuffed with cheddar cheese. A super messy and cheesy option that was definitely worth every bite! I liked that Jon's Joint offered other options too such as loaded fries and fried chicken sandwiches. What I found unique is that for the loaded fries, you can get it with falafel and make it spicy! This time, they had run out of the falafel so I am excited to try it next time. The first thing that caught my attention was a family photo displayed on the cashier counter. That detail alone set the tone and gave the place a sense of authenticity that you don't often see. I also noticed they sell Nongshim shrimp crackers in a few different flavors, along with other snacks, which added to the casual, neighborhood feel. This was my first visit, and I ordered the Banh Mi sandwich. I'd rate it a 6 out of 10. The sandwich had a generous amount of bread almost too much while the beef portion was very minimal. The vegetables, on the other hand, were plentiful and made up most of the sandwich, which I didn't mind. Flavor-wise, it was solid. The sandwich wasn't warm, but that didn't bother me much, and overall it had enough seasoning and freshness to be enjoyable. One downside was the way the sandwich was assembled the meat sat at the bottom, which caused the bread to get soggy, so I ended up eating it upside down. Not ideal, but manageable. The restaurant has a few booths available for dine-in around five from what I could tell so there is limited seating if you choose to eat there. The food itself honestly felt more like something you'd get from a food truck rather than a traditional sit-down restaurant. That said, the signage does emphasize "street food," so in that context, it makes sense. This feels like a quick-eats type of place rather than a destination dining experience. Overall, it's a straightforward, casual spot with clear roots in Vietnamese street food culture. I'd consider coming back, but I'd likely try something different next time.
