    Chocolate & French Toast Biscotti
    Smrithi S.

Walking around Kingston after dinner we walked by Island Cool Ice Cream and decided to get ice cream. It's a small, cute store. I got French Toast Biscotti, and my husband got Chocolate. We loved both the ice cream's we got.

i got the pog sorbet and orange creamsicle flavored which paired really well together. the pog flavor literally tasted exactly like the drink, just frozen. the orange flavor was super nostalgic cause it reminded me of the plastic cups they used to sell with the wooden spoons. overall no complaints and i really enjoyed the flavors i tried.

They have a good variety of interesting flavors and quite a few seasonal flavors of ice cream as well. There's a good selection of desserts apart from ice creams that were really nice too! We tried the molten cake which was delicious! And the espresso with ice cream. Both, very nice! The place is clean and has indoor seating with a couple of tables. Service was courteous and good too

Cute ice cream shop in town. I was happy to see that they have gelato which is my fav. The gelatos here hit the spot and satisfied my craving. Very refreshing on that warm day.

After lunch across the street we had a hankering for ice cream but the cantaloupe sorbet was a sweet surprise! It was not overly sweet and had nice chunks of fresh cantaloupe. Also got a scoop of strawberry ice cream too! So yummy and worth going on your way to and from the Edmonds-Kingston ferry!

Delicious! Always a staple for post meal dessert, located right in downtown Kingston with a bit of seating outside. Love the seasonal flavors too!

Awesome little ice cream shop with very helpful and polite staff. AMAZING flavors!!! Loved the chocolate peanut butter moreo the best. They even do milkshakes with espresso shots!

Oh darn the summer ferry backup Kingston to Edmonds....Mora Ice Cream ! (8/27/17)
    Marie B.

There are three Mora Ice Creamery locations in Poulsbo, Winslow, and Kingston. The ferry lines were the typical summer variety with long waits. Oh darn stuck in lane whatever on this hot late summer afternoon in Kingston for an hour, twist my arm and walk up the street to Mora (8/27/17). Doesn't take much convincing! Yes, get it in a cup and grab plenty of napkins. My two scoops of dark chocolate and gianduja ($7.09) was an oozing challenge atop my car trunk. Rich, delicious, and gone while roasting in the sun. Next time, I'll stick with one scoop since two is plentiful and overindulgent.

    Yummy!!

I love them! Too many options and I had most of them! They were super patient and helped me sort it out the 10 top flavours for me! Hahaha I went out with half scoop of everything :D Even my dog :) Fortunately I was the only one in line. Other customers were enjoying while ferry line. Sorbets were my favourites! Lemon, lemon bar, pineapple, strawberry, mojito, banana, all of them were great for these summer days!

So delicious!!!! We had a little family outing on the Edmonds-Kingston ferry and came across this sweet place! It was a short walk from the ferry and right in front of the pizza place where we enjoyed our lunch. So it's location was perfect. It is a pretty small space, so be careful if you are heading in with a big stroller (like we did). There is one regular table (seats 4) and window/bar seating (also seats 4). Luckily the rush came after we were seated, so we were able to enjoy our ice cream without having to wait for a seat. There is extra seating outside as well, but it is starting to get chilly (not too chilly for ice cream of course lol) so that seating area is only for the brave. The ice cream itself is very delicious! Very thick and creamy! I enjoyed the cheesecake brownies flavor and I can't wait to come back for another scoop. My kids all enjoyed their flavors as well and even Hubby was happy. The price was a little up there, but well worth it. It just might be a place you treat yourself to every now and then instead of every day. If you are ever in the area and have a sweet tooth, you really need to come and try this place out!

This ice cream shop gets rave reviews by so many people. It's about two blocks from my house so it's very easily accessible. I'm not a big fan of sweets so I haven't been there but a few times. As ice cream shops go it's okay. Pretty much like every other quality ice cream that I've ever had. And when I say quality I mean it doesn't taste like ice milk or some such thing like that. They have a nice flavor board full of options that sound pretty good. A couple of good-sizes of cups and cones to choose. But, no matter what you choose, it's all expensive in my opinion. It is awesome to see crowds of people on a hot day in my town enjoying this local ice cream shop. The crowds come from the ferry and because of the little bit of touristy stuff that happens around here.

Molten lava cake. This was in a to go box. Still pretty yum!

This place meets all the criteria. Their pasta dishes and salads are fantastic as well. It's the only place we go for pizza. So why the 3 stars? The service. No one there seems to be in charge. If there is an issue, the employees just pass the buck. Tonight, the heating system was blowing cold air conditioning. Not only us, but several of the patrons there were noticeably cold. We were not the only ones that relocated to a table that wasn't in the direct path of the mini split units. It was 51degrees outside on a cloudy wet day, no reason for the AC to be running. When we asked to have the heat turned up we were told that the owner was the only one that knows how to operate the units. We overheard another staff member tell a customer that they weren't allowed to touch it. Either way, both responses are unacceptable. This is just one example. We have been seated next to a bussing area, dirty glassware literally being stacked next to my wife while seated at the bar. Slow table service is the norm as well. Tables are often missing the necessary silverware, food delivered without plates. Easy stuff to clean up if there was good management. But alas. The beverages (or lack thereof). They have a few beers on tap. Some wine. 40 feet of shelving at the bar and about 8 bottles sitting on them, just the few they need to make their signature cocktails. Nothing else. We actually like to avoid alcohol these days. But here that means we are having ice tea or soda. I ask about N/A beer and they offer Ginger beer. Really? Pretty sad considering all the fine N/A options out there today. It seems this place is riding solely on the reputation of the owner, who teaches at the NW pizza academy (or something like that) and won a prestigious award in Rome. Nice accolades to be sure. But they don't translate well to operating a restaurant and it shows. If you are looking for possibly the best pizza you've had in a long while, or maybe ever, by all means stop by and enjoy. But if you are looking for a quality experience dining out that doesn't disappoint you may want to move on to another spot.

Although there could have been a little more chicken, all the flavors were well-balanced and worked beautifully together. I especially enjoyed the addition of feta. The crust had an amazing sourdough flavor. I love that they use such an old sourdough starter and follow a five-day process--it really shows in the taste and texture. The pizza is also a great size and could easily feed four hungry people, or up to six people with smaller appetites. I visited on a Saturday and waited about 30 minutes for my takeout order, but that was understandable since the pizzas are made to order. The cashier was very friendly while taking my order. My boyfriend and I had our dog with us, so we brought the pizza to a nearby park with a gazebo and table, where we enjoyed a beautiful water view. The restaurant is conveniently located near the entrance to the Kingston ferry. It's no surprise that the chef has received awards for his pizza. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to return specifically for trying his other pizzas!

Steve got a chicken sandwich that was good. I got a hamburger with kimchi. It was excellent but I forgot the name of the burger. I saw a pork sandwich option on the menu that had kimchi but that wasn't the same thing... so just read the menu carefully if what I had sounds good. There are lots of options to pick from so take your time. We also split an order of French Fries which were great! For our sweet tooth we got an Amaretto Milkshake and it was excellent! We really enjoyed this one! It was non-alcoholic and we got this particular one because this was a flavor one doesn't usually associate with milkshake options. We are so glad that we got to try it! The Grub Hut is very, very popular or at least it was when we were there and there was a small line to place our order, very little room to sit and the wait time to get our food was about 25 minutes. We didn't think that was too bad and we thought it was "johnny on the spot" timing at work to tell us that at the time that the order was placed. And I suppose they have it down to an art and need to give out times like this as this restaurant is right by the ferry terminal and Kingston so I imagine a lot of people who are using the ferry need that kind of information to plan accordingly with their meals and arrival/departure times with the ferry.

Take the humble grain bowl using Ukrainian buckwheat "Kasha" with fermented vegetables. With the expert "curing" of the vegetables evident by taste, and glazed with a lovely nutty sauce, it is both simple, and yet profound. Similarly a recent soup of tomatillo and zuchini, cut by black beans, corn, and tortilla strips both tasted familiarly Mexican, but also stretched the palate and feel healthy like all traditional foods. Menu standards like the fermented "kimchi waffle fries", are fun to eat, but each week she introduces exciting and ecclectic plates - once "rabbit" was on the menu. This is exceptional food, but not in the rarefied, experimental way of expensive haute cuisines, rather they draw on deep cultural food traditions. The range of flavors is much more sophisticated and pleasing to my palate than anything else I have tasted across Kitsap county. The sauer kraut chocolate cake? wow. The fermented hot sauces? Delicious. The gyro plate with smoked beet baba-ganoush, and the adjika (Georgian savory herb) sauerkraut layered with tzatziki is a virtual Berlin nightclub party in the mouth. You can pair the food with exquisite house fermented kvass or kombuchas. I highly recommend the "linden blossom" one which is a traditional Ukrainian taste. The chef's sure hand embraces cooking techniques and spice combinations from not only the well-known Asian, Indian, Mexican and Mediterranean spectrum, but also extends to the more unusual such as The Republic of Georgia --one of the world's oldest wine producers and known for its incredible cuisine and food culture at the cross roads of central Asia and eastern Europe. My only sadness is their limited opening hours from Wednesday to Saturday and only until 7:00 pm. This food truck is worth traveling the ferry to Kingston from the east Puget Sound.

This place is very heavy on the legumes of all kinds, and on pickled and fermented goods. It's really their "thing". This ranges from the more typical (pickled veggies, kombucha, kimchi) to the really odd (sauerkraut chocolate cake, and such). There were Eastern European dishes, which was cool. Others were Mediterranean. So, a bit all over the place. If you are not a fan of pickled and fermented things, I'd suggest that you pass, because there's nothing on the menu for you!
