We stumbled upon this spot while walking to another restaurant we originally planned to visit for dinner. Instead of getting dessert there, we decided to stop here--and I'm glad we did. The coffee flavor was present but a bit subtle. Overall, it was still enjoyable. The strawberry also leaned a bit icy and firm; I would have preferred a smoother, creamier texture. After a hard day of work at the Beautify Chula Vista event, I decided to treat the kids to some well-deserved ice cream, and Sweet Life Ice Cream and Treats was just the spot! This place had always caught my eye, but we hadn't ventured in until now--and I'm so glad we did. The first thing that stood out was the friendly service. The girl working behind the counter was super welcoming and let us know that they serve ice cream from Niederfrank's. No more need to drive all the way to National City--we've got quality, locally-made ice cream right here on Third Ave! The ambiance is fun and perfect for families, especially with young kids like mine (3 and 6 years old). There's a small kid's play area that kept them entertained, and they could even peek over at the neighboring salon and watch people get haircuts, which they found pretty amusing. We tried the pistachio, and the kids went for some refreshing sorbet. The ice cream was rich, creamy, and packed with flavor-- everything you'd expect from Niederfrank's. Generally a nice place when I've visited in the past, but I had a bad experience yesterday (Friday 4/10) with customer service. A young brunette lady told us they were out of every beverage we asked for, including bottled water. But later on we saw her give a guy a bottle of water. And she refused to make coffee when I ordered it, even though coffee is clearly available on the menu and I've had it there in the past. She just said "not today." She didn't say they were out of coffee or that there was a problem with the machine. Just "not today." It seemed like she was being too lazy to make a pot of coffee. I wanted to leave a better review, but the customer service was so bad this time. It really left a sour taste in my mouth. The ambiance and games are a nice touch, and there are some tasty ice cream flavors. But I kind of don't want to return and be helped by her or someone with the same attitude as her. I'm hoping some constructive criticism reaches her and management, because this place could be really sweet if customer service improves. read more

Although the gentleman working behind the counter was nice, I was very disappointed that I drove all the way here and there was little to no ice cream available; most of the tubs were completely empty and apparently they didn't have other tubs in the back. Named "the Sweet life", this monster punched my face with damn-good-yummy-satisfaction. The Cowboy Coffee was better than your average joe. Not burnt, not bad. You can also build your own sandwich. Im not going to post the selections and choices...damn thing is a page long...but the pickings are plentiful. Fries and Salad too! There is outside, enclosed seating, as well as inside seating.
