This place is super cute! I got the croissant french toast and it was filleddddddd with cream cheese. The texture was interesting and different because it was a croissant french toast. I got kind of tired of all the cream cheese at the end though. I ate the last few bites croissant french toast alone with the fruit and took the cream cheese out. The pricing is on the higher end but this place is perfect for brunch dates every once in a while. The staff are friendly and there is parking. read more

Ended up at Sweet Mama's in Stonybrook tonight since it's a Monday and the Northport location isn't open for dinner on Mondays. This was my first time at this one and it did not disappoint! First and foremost, our server was really great. She was very friendly, served us fast, and had a smile on her face the whole time, which I know can be difficult at times as a server myself. I have a huge amount of respect for her and her job well done. The decor in this location is a bit different than the Northport location as well. This one is a more barn-style vibe, which is super cute and fits right in this neighborhood. They also have an ice cream parlor which is decorated with pink and sprinkles, super cute, and a bar that matches the farmhouse vibe. The food was delicious. I had the chicken fried steak, which was well presented. I didn't have an issue with anything on my plate. We also got a "cookie cold brew flight" which was super fun, and all the flavors were very good. Needless to say, I'll be returning to this location as it's closer to me these days than Northport anyways. I was pretty impressed with everything here, especially on a slow Monday night. I'd definitely recommend anyone stop in for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Breakfast at Sweet Mama's is always delicious. We arrived early on a Tuesday so we had our choice of seating and chose a sunny spot next to the window. Everyone in the restaurant, from the hostess to the waitress, was friendly and accommodating. We started off our breakfast with lattes and I chose an iced coffee cake latte off their seasonal menu. It was perfectly sweet and coffee flavored and had a butterscotch sauce over the top. It wasn't overly heavy as a drink, but definitely felt indulgent like a dessert. For breakfast, I was able to create my own omelette which was very tasty, but the eggs were a little more overdone for my liking. It was our first time there and understandably knowing that the wait for this place and nearby do usually take awhile....so be prepared for that. I ordered a patty melt sandwich and upcharged for sweet potato fries. They added thousand island dressing into the sandwich which is a good touch. I enjoyed my sandwich and it hit the spot. My son got the big daddy entree which came with 2 waffles, 2 French toast, 2 eggs, bacon, sausage potatoes. It was certainly a big daddy for sure. Nothing special really about this entree. My wife got the steak and 2 eggs and she enjoyed her meal. All in all, we would give this place a strong 3 stars. read more

I was in the StonyBrook Shopping Center. All morning I had been craving waffles..I checked Yelp & was advised I was near Sweet Mama's. I found it a few steps away. I was seated immediately at a table by a window overlooking the outside walkway. The waitress promptly hooked me up with a flask of coffee & took my order: Belgian Waffle with a side of bacon plus one egg, over light on top. It arrived in a few minutes. The bacon was crisp, and plenty of it. The waffle was just as a waffle should be & the egg was just as ordered. I devoured it all. The bill came... a bit pricey..but what isn't these days. Great atomsphere and service. The salad and pancakes were delicious. They had a lot more to offer as the menu was extensive. (Wish I got a milk shake). For me, the grilled cheese was simply too thick (texas toast) and too burnt out the outside. It's a simple dish, so I was a bit surprised. The saving grace was that I had the fries and onion rings. I went to Sweet Mama's for brunch as it was well known in the Stony Brook area. I ordered the Nutella French Toast and my cousin got the Eggs Benedict (clearly these are our go to brunch items but I'm not a fan of omelettes). The Nutella French Toast was great and was quite filling and heavy so it was nice to have the "lighter fare" of the Eggs Benedict along with it. The potatoes were a little dry but it didn't exactly make or break the meal anyways. The one downside of this place is that the service was incredibly slow and the place itself wasn't super busy at all. I literally had to get up to get the waitress's attention to get the bill. Either way, if I'm ever in the area again I wouldn't be opposed to trying Sweet Mama's again. read more

Few weeks back we tried this place on a lazy Sunday morning for brunch. We were accommodated soon despite there being a waitlist. The ambiance and service was good, we ordered lattes, they were filling and good, the white chocolate brownie mocha a bit too sweet but I personally loved the chocolate hazelnut latte. Next we ordered veggie avocado burger, California Benny and another sandwich. They tasted decent, the breads seemed a bit dry, the fries were just average. Update: Today's visit was wonderful! I had to give the Chicken Fried Steak another try. The gravy texture was perfect, no cut up sausage patties but crumbles and the seasoning was spot on. Eggs were cooked to a perfect medium. My daughters banana pancakes came with 6 pancakes, enough for a 4 year old to have for three days. One consistent issue was the silverware shortage again but the service was great. Glad we decided to give it another visit. The food was slap ya mama good. read more

Awesome breakfast!!! I heard a lot of people in my area like Sweet Mama's more than Maureen's kitchen, so I had to check it out! To me, they are two totally different experiences. Sweet Mama's is a bit larger, has completely different menu options and also has a full bar! They're also open much later and serve breakfast, lunch and dinner! (Breakfast is available all day!) They also have nightly specials and accept credit cards. As you walk in, the dining area is to the right and the ice cream parlor is to the left. Really cool concept! It's located in an area that has a ton of shops, restaurants and events! My husband and I both had the Avocado toast, which was served with turkey bacon and 2 eggs any style. It was plated with healthy greens and balsamic. I couldn't resist having something a little sweet so I ordered one pancake with chocolate chips and peanut butter chips. So delicious!!! We sat in the bar area called "Grandpas Shed", nice touch! Our waiter/bartender was attentive and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back!! read more

OMG! The best! Seriously! So great. I called up a couple weeks in advance for a reservation for the day after my wedding across the street at the Three Village Inn and was told by "Rob" the manager he would pencil me in for my party of possibly 12 or more. I went to the restaurant the day before my wedding just to confirm and show them I was committed to attending a Saturday morning brunch after the wedding. Sure enough the hostess said we were reserved. Fast forward to the morning after the wedding we nervously went over to meet our guests and afraid we would have to wait a little bit. But instead it was absolutely perfect! We were warmly welcomed and escorted to the back room I believe it was called grandpas shed. The room was secluded from the rest of the restaurant and had its own bathroom which the rest of the restaurant can use. The room also had its own entrance. Staff were all so kinds and attentive. Everyone really enjoyed there meals and our overall experience was a 10/10! Highly recommended. Thank you to all staff working there! read more

We took the trip out to try this place since there was a big hype on social media. Definitely not worth the drive. The restaurant itself is super cute, but the service was awful. They had no wait staff tending to the high tops in the bar area? The poor bartender was working the bar and waiting on all of the tables in the bar area. Three Stars. Two stars because I want desperately for this restaurant to do well, and one star for my experience today. Be patient for a minute while I explain. Anyone with history in this area remembers "The Brook House". It was a fixture in this spot for decades. I remember it from back in the 70's when it was half the size. I lived that place. Sometimes I would just go in and have an egg cream at the counter. It was well run by a woman who obviously knew how to run a restaurant. Eventually she retired and a new restaurant took over. I ate there once. Enough said. Now Sweet Mama's is here. On this rainy Sunday we took our youngest grandkids here for breakfast. First we check in with a hostess. No offer of wait time, and frankly this young girl looked very unhappy. Not one smile. We are seated and order coffee, lemonade, and chocolate milk. Chocolate milk comes in a sealed container. No cup? Next, waiter doesn't know the menu or what's in certain meals. Move on. It's pretty crowded but I see a number of servers just standing in a corridor talking and blocking people and servers trying to move. Back to our waiter. When asked a question, he answers "yeah". Sorry I prefer proper English like "Yes". Meals finally come. Pancakes are hard and cold. I had their "Spanika" Benedict. Comes with sautéed spinach which was burnt. I couldn't finish. Third meal eggs were cold. Last meal, waffle with bananas and Nutella was very sloppy. Ended up with everyone getting Nutella in hands clothes etc. In spite of this big mess today, I will be back for another try. That's how bad I want this to be a go to breakfast place for me. Please fix the errors. Maybe a little better training for the staff, and those who are there to fill time and get a pay check should move on or be told to move on. Just a side note. The Stony Brook Post Office is in this center. It's an historical building. There's an Eagle attached to the front and back in the day the eagle would flap its wings every hour on the hour. Once again, another change from The Brook House but hopefully its for the best. Walking into Sweet Mama's. I have neighborhood history with this space. When both my sons were toddlers, they ran around Saturday mornings asking for ice cream and candy. I'm glad they kept the ice cream side. As for the actual restaurant, this is where Sweet Mama's shines. I've been to the Northport location, it was very good but the new Stony Brook space is more large and in charge. It's a more comfortable space. All that sounds great, all I want is a local spot to have breakfast Saturday morning. Sweet sweet mamma, man.. she makes a mi-T-fine breakfast. This is my gold standard test, two eggs over easy with corned beef hash. The first thing I asked, do you make the corned beef fresh? Oh yes, its freshly made. One please with rye toast. My order comes to me and man its bangin'. Perfectly cooked eggs and lots of Corned Beef Hash. The hash is fresh and cooked perfectly with a few crispy bits like mom would make. The Sweet Mama hash is a little smoother than most hashes, some folks like a few corned beef chucks, I'm don't care either way. I just don't want it out of a can. This breakfast served to me today makes me the adopted son. There is one thing Sweet Mama's has that stands out from the rest, a bar with taps. I poked my head in the bar Saturday morning and I see a few of the owners in a power huddle. They wave me over and we all start talking. A bunch of nice guys and their bar-restaurant in Stony Brook village looks like a spot I can relax and have a beer. Sweet Mama's, I welcome you to Stony Brook village. I had heard a lot about the Sweet Mama's in Northport and was excited to hear they were opening one in Stony Brook. I had seen people walking around with ice cream cones and wondered where they had gotten them from. Later on I came to find that Sweet Mama's has an ice cream shoppe attached to its main dining room. When we arrived, the hostess said that the wait would be twenty minutes. She quickly then said that the wait would be five minutes and we were shortly whisked away. We ordered immediately: granola encrusted French toast, a blueberry waffle, and black tea. Our food came out as fast as were seated. It was almost scary fast. Nonetheless, we were happy with what was in front of us. I liked that they gave us a pot of hot water to pour from. Both dishes were very good along with the maple syrup that accompanied them. I was wondering how Sweet Mama's would fare with being only a couple of yards away from Crazy Bean's. After eating there, I realized that there is room for both of them. I could definitely see myself coming here throughout the year and am glad to add a new brunch spot to my list. read more

Delicious! Super creamy and pretty big portions. Just have a small and a large. The small is about three scoops! Would definitely recommend. Large selections of flavors and the they don't skimp on the good stuff. If you get cookies and cream, huge pieces of Oreo. In the caramel ice cream huge swirls of delicious caramel. Went to Sweet Mama's after a great visit to LI Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame's Billy Joel Exhibit. Definitely recommend it to all Joel fans Love Sweet Mama's- the service was friendly and the food was great. My husband had the Little Mama which was comprised of eggs, pancakes, home fries, the best crispy bacon ever and toast. All was done perfectly! I had the West Coast Tuna Melt but made it a Turkey melt. It was delicious - tomatoes, avocados, Turkey and cheddar on amazing multigrain toast. Added Russian dressing - yum! Waitress said might add to menu. lol The strawberry mimosa was perfect. Only sad part - no room for delicious ice cream from Maine. The staff is so welcoming and nice! My first time at Sweet Mama's was for dinner. I thought it would be better to skip the crowds. I was right, it's less crowded during dinner service but the service was atrocious, go figure. To tell you the truth, I'm glad it wasn't crowded because waiting hours to eat at this place for breakfast is something I'd NEVER do, especially after having an overall boring and disappointing experience. Located in Stony Brook Village Center, I dread trying places here because parking always seems to be an issue. Fortunately, because I came at around 6:30pm, most of the stores had already closed and parking was a breeze. The restaurant has both a front & back entrance. From the boring decor to the boring experience, I was disappointed to say the least. The Prices were high, I feel like I didn't get the bang for my buck. As for the portions, yes they were decently sized but all lacked uniqueness to me. ***For dessert my table decided on getting milk shakes. THEY CHARGED A PARLOR FEE! So annoying. I thought it was a little nervy to do if you ask me. What, because they had to go into the ice cream section of the restaurant, that may I remind you is completely ATTACHED to the eatery, it's okay to charge extra??... I don't think so.*** The Service was subpar at best. There were plenty of times my table went without refills and our server didn't check up on us for quite some time. I had asked for sour cream for the loaded fries and never received it. I asked for extra gravy on my chicken fried steak which didn't come until I had to ask for a second time (after waiting minutes for the server to come out of the back to check on us). I get it if a place is busy, but there were literally 3 tables occupied INCLUDING MINE in the whole building! ***Can I just talk about the fact that it took soooooo long for the food to come out! Like a ridiculous amount of time for it being so empty. I was so confused by it. And don't even get me started on the "Milk Shakes with a fee". They took at least 20 minutes to come out.*** As for the Food... it was all just edible. I never once thought, wow this place is innovative and fun. I've had breakfast food all over, Sweet Mamas was nothing special, sorry I said it. I will be reviewing what I tried: -Loaded "Messy" Fries: Which again was supposed to come with sour cream and never did. They tasted like basic store bought frozen French fries, I highly doubt they were made in house. On top they sprinkled basic cheddar cheese & bacon bits... that was it! Definitely wasn't worth $10. 2.5 out of 5 stars -Onion Rings: After receiving my other app and almost finishing it, I asked if the onion rings were almost done. I think the server forgot about them which is why he ran back into the kitchen and didn't come out with them for what felt like over 10 minutes. Again I highly doubt these were made in house. They were incredibly mushy on the inside, yuck. So standard, and they didn't even come with a house made dipping sauce. How boring can this place get?!? 2 out of 5 stars -Country Fried Steak: Its supposed to come with steak, 2 biscuits, 2 eggs any way & grits. Here's the kicker. We all ordered and then we waited , we waited , we waited some more, then we waited some more, then finally our server comes to the table (around 40 minutes after I ordered) only to tell me that they don't serve grits during dinner WTF!!! He offered me mashed potatoes instead, no other options apparently so I took them. The country fried steak was tasty but got to be too much towards the end. It was too rich. The gravy on top was tasty (and the extra gravy I had to wait minutes for was also good). The eggs were basic, they didn't season them AT ALL. The biscuits were boring. The mashed potatoes tasted microwaved. Overall blah meal. 2.5 out of 5 stars The milk shakes were also boring and definitely not worth the wait or the parlor fee! Overall I was super disappointed with Sweet Mamas in Stony Brook. I'm glad I went late because if I got that service and received that food in the morning after waiting hours to get in, I would have been furious.
