Service: Very Nice!! The wait staff were so nice and helped us with our order. It was nice to hear what their favorite food was and what people tend to get! They were attentive and came by often to take away empty plates to keep our table clear. Food: Bang Bang Chicken Salad- CRUNCH!! It has a wonderful tangy and slight spice to the dressing while the whole dish was full crisp vegetables. The addition of crispy onion/garlic added a different crunch texture to the cabbage. Bo Luc Lac- Flavorful. I really enjoyed the Bo Luc Lac (translation: Shaky Beef). The stir fry of the beef and onions were really nice. I wish that it wasn't sitting its own juice/sauce because it took away the sear of the beef. Pho Combo- Standard. It is the known dish when you talk about Vietnamese food and it was good. Was in town for a family Christmas gathering. Came with a party of 9 adults and 2 kids on a Saturday mid afternoon and was quickly seated. My wife and I both ordered the Pho Combo and Pho Tai. Ambiance: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Attentive, prompt, and fast service. The staff are really friendly, efficient and great at their job! Food: 4/5 Pho was solid though some of my party for the chicken breast which unfortunately was overcooked. It did scratch the itch for pho especially on the cold winter day! Price: I'm uncertain about typical prices in Long Island as I'm more accustomed to NC prices. It's slightly higher for NC prices but is probably reasonable for Long Island standards. Sup is one of the ONLY good Asian cuisine near Stony Brook University. They have an amazing lunch deal every weekday from opening till 3pm that includes a drink, appetizer, and main (pho or rice) for $17. Their drinks are okay as they tasted watered down however the apps and pho are delicious! I would recommend getting the summer rolls which always taste fresh. For an appetizer we had Vietnamese Sunmer Rolls. They were very fresh and yummy! The peanut sauce that accompanied them for dipping was very good as well. For our entrees I had Pho Ga which was a chicken broth with grilled chicken and noodles. My boyfriend had Pho Sizzle which was a beef broth topped with grilled ribeye steak and noodles. Both were so good and flavorful. Service and ambiance were great. We agreed that we would come back and we are adding this to our rotation of places we go to. We were looking for a nice spot to eat before dropping off family at Stony Brook. I was so excited when I saw a Pho restaurant! Food: 5/5 I really enjoyed the bowls of pho we ordered and their rib special. It was a great dish to split with few people while they had their own dishes to dig into. My favorite dish was that special because it felt the cost for the dish was great value. They gave a significant amount of meat some lettuce and picked radish for texture. Very tasty! Service: 5/5 The waiter was very nice and great at recommending item on the menu. Like they recommended a tea we could try and it was delicious. They were also great at explaining the menu to my friends new to pho. Also, since some of friends had the dietary restrictions, they were super accommodating and get a suggesting alternatives. They're filled with umami flavor, with a crispy exterior and the juiciest meat. That set things off to a great start to our dinner. I'd skip the spring rolls, unless you're craving them intensely. The pho was delicious, with a deep soup flavor, like they make it in-house. The spicy basil fried rice was presented in a pineapple, which I thought was pretty cute but not very functional. When it was 6:30 and we haven't arrived at our 6:30 reservation, they called us saying they'll give up our seats if we didn't make it any sooner. We then arrived in 3 minutes and they said they didn't give up our seats, but we had to wait another 20 min to be seated. So they didn't prepare for us like at all because they kept running around saying they had a reservation for 7:30 for 10 people. Why are you preparing so early for them and couldn't even hold a 5 people table bruh. Why say you prepared (or didn't give up our seats) when you clearly did? Also, we went to celebrate a friend's BIRTHDAY. We handed over a nicely boxed birthday cake and asked them to put it in the fridge. The person who took it TOPPLED THE CAKE OVER THE COUNTER and it ONLY remained undamaged because my friend CAUGHT IT in time. Then, after the long wait, we finally got seated. The server then said they'll provide us with water, which never came. We took 10 minutes to pick out the food, and by then, the water didn't come. The water only ca when we reminded the waiter TWICE! Also, the food took another 30 minutes to come. While serving the food, the waiter also mixed up our orders (pho king as pho nam). Like what if we had a allergy towards a specific food? Next, after the food, we asked them to bring the cake out. For some weird reason, they took the cake out, took off the wrapper, and put the candles on without asking us first? Okay, maybe they do it for all costumers, fine, but whoever took off the wrapper did it in such a bad way, at least 5 parts of the whipped cream on the cake came off with the wrapper. IDK about that person, but when I took the wrapper off my birthday cake (because in the restaurant I went to, the workers allowed me my own moment to put on the candles and unwrap the cake), it resembled the original so much. For my poor friend, so many spots of whipped cream came off because the server didn't handle it with care. Imagined someone ruined your birthday because they didn't bother to take 3 extra seconds to carefully unwrap the wrapper. Afterwards, we talked to the manager because we were upset about the cake, and he kept on insisting it was our fault because we didn't specify. LIKE WHAT? We're the costumer, you guys are responsible for serving! Shouldn't you ask what we want to do with the cake?????? Do you serve us any food without asking us what we want??????? We only told you to put it in the fridge and take it out. When did we say, take it out, unwrap it, and stick the candles on it however you would want????? ^I attached an original pic of the cake and what the cake eventually looked like. it was in detrimental condition and nobody apologized for it until after we brought it up. Only the waiter came and said sorry. The manager didn't even apologize and prob thought we were karens or something. The restaurant does provide a free dessert for birthdays, and the first waiter said we could pick whatever dessert, but the waiter who then took the order didn't even let us finish our sentence before giving us two tiny scoops of ice cream. When we got the receipt, we saw that they charged us a gratuity fee. We had 5 people, and gratuity fees usually apply for at least 6 people. Even if it's a birthday, they messed every thing up so badly, I couldn't believe they bothered. AND WORST OF ALL, THEY CHARGED US WRONG! We ordered 3 pho nam and 2 pho king. They charged us 2 pho nam and 3 pho king. Unfortunately, we only realized it after we got back. Even though the difference is $1, it's still scary to believe how a restaurant can make so many mistakes in one day. I really hope they take the time to train works on 1) how to recognize the dishes that they're serving, 2) how to ask costumers on what they would like before doing still without permission (aka whatever happened to the cake), and 3) to be extra careful always. read more

Sup has never let me down when it comes to deciding on a last minute dinner spot. The food is downright delicious and the service is excellent. Servers are attentive without being overbearing and the place is beautifully decorated with hanging flower garlands and Vietnamese-themed paintings and framed posters. We took a gamble on Valentines's Day and popped in without a reservation. The host was definitely extra busy and doing his best to field phone calls and walk ins at the same time, so he took our name and estimated a 40 minute wait...busy restaurant night and my fault for not calling ahead. After waiting (less than the 40 minutes), we were sat and greeted immediately with a warm hand towel and request for drink orders. The service couldn't have been better, which is sometimes atypical for this holiday and very much appreciated. The food came out relatively quickly but we had plenty of time with apps before mains came and even though the hostess stand was still jam packed, it wasn't chaotic at all. Spring rolls and summer rolls are both consistently great and a must-order for my crowd. Spicy basil shrimp rice is gorgeous and comes as a heaping portion piled into a hollowed pineapple and it's usually enough for lunch the next day. I never go there without getting the Bang Bang Chicken Salad - probably my favorite thing on the menu, and the steamed beer clams are so perfect for a winter night. They come out sizzling in a flavorful broth with some chilies for kick and crusty bread to dip. I've gotten this before and this time around the clams were ridiculously tiny in comparison so I'll probably wait until the warmer weather to go for that again - but the taste was on point either way! A sleek and absolutely chic restaurant! Inside has a dimly lit modern decor that is also extended through its takeout packaging. Every container is emblazoned with the Sup logo. Even the insulated takeout bag is cute (and reusable if you don't tear through the staples!) For lunch, I ordered the Chicken Larb bowl and a lightly sweetened Thai iced tea. The thai tea was phenomenal (even with less sugar). Still had that classic earthy taste. The larb itself, very flavorful. A pleasant heat and mint flavor that wasn't too overpowering. It went well with the rice and greenery that was offered. For the price, I will admit, I do wish there was a bit more. But in this economy, there are plenty of things that I wish were cheaper... It is the second time my family and I have come here. My son works in the area so whenever we're meeting for lunch we come here! We always greeted very quickly by somebody's very friendly and both time we've come we sat in window booth . I checked in on Yelp and we got a delicious coffee. I got the rib app because I was not that hungry and the taste was so delicious and the meat just fell off the bone. The sauce was so rich and delicious. My daughter got the shrimp fried rice and it was served in half a pineapple with an egg on top. It looked and tasted delicious! My son and I both had a little bit of the rice because it was a generous serving and we all loved it. My son got the soup which he thoroughly enjoys. I also had one of their delicious iced tea, which had a flower in it, and the flavor was so good and thirst quenching. The broth lacked a lot of flavor, portion was minimal and again, for the price and hype around this place, was pretty disappointed. They have homemade "pho" noodles which were just no longer pho noodles anymore (to their credit, they do warn of this). But this is a college town and the students keep this place in business. As soon as I got a closer look at it, I realized that there was a dead bug WRAPPED in the lettuce, like it was picked out of the ground without even seeing water. Add some of their hoison sauce to give it just another touch-up. Main course- we got the spicy shrimp rice, and I got pho (bu?) Vien with meatballs. Both were very tasty and in large portions. The pho broth was something special. My chopstick skills were definitely challenged though. Dessert- Banana coconut cake and the coconut sorbet. Both were delightful with fresh flavors and not overally sweetened. The cream cheese frosting was creamy but lighter than what you'd expect, so it blended very well into the moist cake.
