Beautiful and demure feminine decor meets New England afternoon tea vibes. I was invited here by a friend and thought I knew exactly what kind of experience this would be, but I underestimated how I would be transported from the hustle and bustle of city life I am used to to feeling like royalty and a "lady of means". The dainty bites and authentic tea offerings were surprisingly filling and made it easy to have a lively and engaging conversation while still enjoying each morsel. My friend and I also met other patrons who were sitting close enough to join in on some banter, but we still had enough space to feel like we had moments of privacy. I definitely felt like I was in an episode of Bridgerton or Guilded Age. We even celebrated my birthday with a candle lit macaron. So much fun!

Cute and charming little spot to enjoy an afternoon tea with those whose company you value :) Came here on a weekend morning with my mom and sisters and had a lovely time. Decided to dress up a bit and found we were not alone in the sentiment, which was fun. The ambiance at Sweet Marie's is top notch, though take note it's a small space and can feel a bit cramped - especially with all the delicate china place settings. Perhaps avoid very high heels if you plan on boozing . I like that they provided an Afternoon Tea timeline so you knew exactly what to expect. The tea selection however, was not up to snuff. With only 4 varieties (English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Chai, Decaf English Breakfast) I was quite disappointed. You expect tea to be their specialty. Flavors were good, but we did find the service was a bit slow. There were a few instances where we had no beverages at the table and given the timed seating, felt that diminished the value. Thankfully their price point isn't super high. I will say, the food was quite yummy and had a good variety of savories and sweets. On the whole, I'd come back as it was a nice way to spend a bit of the afternoon

A cute experience in Wickford! Make a reservation! Went on a Saturday afternoon and were sat quickly. Tea was tea! Sandwiches, scones, and sweets were all very yummy! Scones weren't dry and crumbling which was nice. The space is a little loud but we weren't really bothered by it. Would recommend for a special occasion, girls date, birthday! Put on a cute dress & go have a tea date!!

    The setting when I arrived.

The experience was from beginning to end. From being seated promptly, to refills of the pots of tea, to the delicious food, it was a very special place to catch up with a friend. There was never a rush to leave, and honestly if I didn't know there was a seating after our reservations could have lingered all afternoon. There are many tables close to one another but I never felt crowded. I can't wait to return.

We had such a lovely time.

A spectacular place for a wedding shower. Well done! Food was delicious. Thank you. The ladies working the event were lovely.

Amazing experience. My friend and I went to celebrate our birthdays and our tea tray came with a candle on a candy.! The way they have it set up where the service is scheduled for everybody at the same time but then they're very attentive to your needs as well. Tea service was just wonderful. And such a lovely place inside. Highly recommend it for a special occasion or just to treat yourself.

I've been to all tea places back home in my area so I'm a tea frequenter & very familiar with how services go. First my friends & I wanted to try this spot particularly for the cute gorgeous cottage location we saw on their website. Unfortunately by the time of our appointment, we were very disappointed to find Sweet Marie's was no longer in a cottage! Instead it's now set in a posh space with bopping loud music. Very jarring & not an afternoon tea ambience. I have to say tea services in the area run different from metro areas. There's only 1 set tea service you get. Given that, I've NEVER experienced a tea place where they charge extra....to select most teas!! It's afternoon TEA, & you nickel & dime people on the star of the show? Also nickel/dimed on the condiments which you can see are so small proportions. Also the tea: one of the most flavorless teas ever drank for the small selection of "complementary" (ridiculous) teas which is standard English Black. I got decaffeinated & that was even more tasteless. So then to have to pay extra for other tea types?? I wasn't impressed. The food: while aesthetics are nice, having 2 of the 4 "tea sandwiches" be tiny small round bites basically, left more to be desired. The food was decent except the chicken salad sandwich where the chicken was over-dry & thus rubbery. And overall the sandwich lacked flavors/seasonings. For a place not in a major city area, the price point was high especially for the overall food quality which was ok & decent at best, and the portions were small. Would expect higher quality at that price especially with all the add-ons they charge you for. This place is trying way too hard to be hip. I asked for a butter knife & was told there are none?? Again never experienced this before lol Instead I was told they only have these long awkward wooden spatulas that are awfully annoying to use & dropped down several times due to their shape, very non-functional. We tried another tea place that was traditional & it was superb. So there are nice options out in that region, you don't have to settle.

I didn't realize Sweet Marie's had moved to a different location since my last visit, which was probably two years ago. Personally, I preferred the cottage ambiance--it captured the essence of afternoon tea beautifully. However, the new location is still lovely, offering a more elegant yet modern vibe. Having afternoon tea there was a nice experience, but if you've had a traditional British afternoon tea before, the food choices and pricing here might not seem worth it. Interestingly, all three of my friends felt the same way; they found the food lacking in flavor and the portions too small for the price. While it's nice to try occasionally, I'm not sure I would return anytime soon. Also, the staff seemed a bit rushed while serving us, frequently checking in despite the fact that we were the only table there around 1:30 PM, even though we had a reservation for noon. This created an atmosphere that felt less relaxed and not quite authentic for an afternoon tea experience.

We visited on a gray and rainy day and it made the experience inside the cottage even cozier. This is a traditional high tea and it's a perfect place to visit for special occasions or just to sit and catch up with a friend. We loved the stone walls, the open beams and mismatched china - it all added to the ambiance. The food was delicious - each variety of sandwich offered was tasty as well as the sweet and savory delicious scones. The sweet treats on top of the tower were a complete surprise - full of flavor and delicately balanced. We had a great time and I hope to return soon. One things to be aware of the tea cottage sits directly behind a building that is located on a main street. There is an inconspicuous gravel 'driveway' you have to turn on to in order to locate the cottage, we missed it the first time because our GPS made it look like we should be turning down a road when we should have been looking for a narrow driveway.

Visited sweet Mari's tea cottage today. As always service was very good. New location is beautifully decorated. We had breakfast tea and Earl Grey tea and enjoyed the teared treats, too much to eat in one sitting, so fun to go home with a goodie bag. Great spot for a simple catch up with old friends or celebrate a birthday or milestone. Worth a visit while visiting Wickford Village.

Absolutely amazing tea experience I highly recommend you make reservations and bring your friends family or just yourself and enjoy a delicious meal with amazing tea. Lindsay provided amazing service in an extremely relaxing and just comfortable atmosphere and there was a nice breeze since I sat next to the window. I was so full after everything and I didn't even finish everything on the plates. I can't wait to go back and take my kids because they love having the whole high tea experience. I can't stress just how amazing the whole experience was from beginning to end parking can get a little finicky and I can see it getting worse in the summer so make sure you plan ahead and leave enough time to find a good parking spot. Amazing ladies while I was there, and we shared other restaurants and just other great stories about other tea experiences. And the pictures do not do the food Justice everything was just amazing and if you have a sensitivity to food like I do, please make sure you address it when you're making your reservation.

Loved my first experience at an afternoon tea at Sweet Marie's!! My friends and I have always wanted to try an afternoon tea. It was all our first time and we finally got to go on my bachelorette trip! It was the perfect activity to do with girlfriends and we all really enjoyed it. The place is much smaller than I imagined but was so cute and cozy. We loved all the little sandwiches, scones and desserts along with the early grey and chai tea! The service was also great and it was truly a lovely experience! We all can't wait for our next afternoon tea because of our great first experience here! I can't recommend it enough!

Yesterday, we took our respite at Sweet Marie's Tea Cottage in Wickford Village (part of North Kingstown, Rhode Island) as part of a 2-day birthday celebration. This shabby-chic cottage, tucked away behind a hedgerow on a rustic side road, was a delight. Named after the proprietor's grandmother, seatings are by reservation only. Of the 4 tables during our seating, 3 were celebrating birthdays, including me! Everything was delicious and we even had a lovely conversation with the ladies at the table next to us about knitting and my clothes. It was a full on grannycore experience. We were informed that the cottage will be moving down the street soon, but the cozy atmosphere will remain. I can't wait to return!

When we visited we ordered the afternoon tea which came with some delicious scones, finger sandwiches and sweets. If you book ahead of time you can pick your plate (gluten free options are available). Our party ordered a variety of teas and each was served to us in our own unique pot and tea cup. The setting was lovely, the space is small and elegantly cozy. This is a great place to bring your girlfriends for a laid back afternoon and some treats. The inside vibe is so welcoming, chairs are incredibly comfy, the overall aesthetic is fun & super cute. One thing that stood out to me the most is that there are different types of tea menus- Afternoon Tea is the more traditional sampler style where you get a little bit of everything, you are even able to pick your 3 sandwiches that you want to try. This also comes with scones, mini pastries & your choice of tea. The Luncheonette I believe is a full size sandwich with soup/salad. There's also a mini version of the Afternoon Tea. We had a group of 4 and chose the Afternoon Tea. Everything tasted so delicious and always makes me want to go home and recreate it all. The cucumber sandwich was so thinly sliced and had such a yummy spread paired with it. I also picked the egg salad & smoked gouda with apple. They had the most creative sandwiches by far. The score were also really good, one had some sort of (strawberry?) glaze on it and paired with some magical cream that tasted like whipped cream & jam. The mini pastries were so delicious and the chocolate tarte with raspberry was the start of the show. They also had mini macaroons & little cookies.

Unfortunately, the $65 prix-fixe dining experience was a major disappointment. To dine at the Tea House, you're required to purchase admission to Marble House (around $25), which made the experience feel unnecessarily expensive. Adding to that frustration, a credit card processing fee was added to the bill without any clear disclosure until it was time to pay. There was also an upcharge for one of the entrées that was not clearly disclosed on the menu, making the pricing feel less transparent than it should have been. The service was excellent, and I have no complaints about the staff. The problem was the food. The sandwiches, scones, and deviled eggs all tasted as though they had been prepared well in advance and lacked flavor. The hummus served with the endive was especially disappointing; it was watery and unappetizing. A different accompaniment would be a significant improvement. As for the entrées, the salmon was decent, but the short rib was surprisingly bland and underseasoned. Given the total cost of the experience, I expected food that matched the beauty and prestige of the venue. To make matters worse, there were numerous flies and bees hovering around our table and food throughout the meal, which further detracted from the experience. While the location, atmosphere, and service were wonderful, the quality of the meal and the lack of pricing transparency simply did not justify the price.

The Bohlin is an impressive location and I was glad to experience an event there. Was not at all impressed with the service, ever, especially for a special event venue catering largely to weddings where service is everything. To be clear, it was a brunch buffet, not a sit down meal. That said, it was Mother's Day. Tables were set beautifully. Server brought us water, nothing else. If we wanted a cocktail, we had to stand at the bar and get it ourselves. Coffee after lunch? Ditto. Brunches have multiple courses. We should have been given clean cutlery in exchange for the removal of a plate instead of being forced to lay dirty cutlery on a clean ivory tablecloth and then reuse them, again and again. That part was a total turnoff and not encouraging for anyone considering it as a future event venue. The food offering was varied and generally a success. The bacon was delicious and good quality. The frittata bites were a good and elegant option to the usual chafing dish full of scrambled eggs. Kudos to the chef for the beef sirloin although at $95 a head, one might have expected a carving station over sliced beef steaks piled into a chafing dish that just dried out the beef over time. The accompanying horseradish cream was quite good. Everyone seemed to really love the raw bar and raclette station. The desserts were well curated , not just slabs of sweets on the table. The pasta dishes? Meh. The cacio e pepe was nothing more than a runny version of the mac and cheese from the kids table with some pancetta or proscuitto specks in it. Fairly tasteless. Location was wonderful but at that likely price point for a private event, I thought the experience was mediocre. Looking forward to going back to Castle Hill instead.

I ordered the Egyptian Organic Chamomile tea which arrived promptly after ordering. BUT, then the tea I ordered steeped for another 20 minutes because I was never given a tea cup to drink out of! It wasn't until I told the organizer of our party to ask the staff to remove my order from the bill because I couldn't drink it - that a cup and saucer magically appeared. The pastries given were just fine. The black currant pastry had yogurt in it and was frozen? It didn't taste good. But, all the other pastries were decent and the plain scones with butter and clotted cream and jam were the best. The owner brought her golden retriever in the tea room. It roamed around and greeted customers at their tables. I love dogs so I thought this was comforting. But also, we were eating food and there was a dog in the eatery. Does this mean I can bring my dog there too? It was a confusing experience and the dog was adorable but there can't be a dog roaming around a tea room that is promoting a "proper" and "posh" experience. It just doesn't make sense. Unless the dog is wearing a suit and sits on a dog throne in a designated area in the tea room.

I was told that they usually serve "Starbucks" style where you go to the counter and they give you a cup of tea to go ( even if the whole point is not to go to Starbucks but have lovely afternoon with my mother) The only way you get served is if you get the pot of tea.
