Came in to order my usual matcha shaved iced. I waited 25 minutes. It was suppose to be to go,so I packed it up. Got home and 1/2 of the toppings missing. Lucky I'm not allergic to peanuts. Got vanilla and matcha ice cream, red bean matcha pudding and mango pudding and 3 of the chewy white balls.

A little disappointed with this one I got the custom set where you can choose a base and a minimum of 4 toppings. I got the grass jelly base with matcha pudding, taro Q, yam Q, and also mango ice cream. Each add on was $1.75 so I was not expecting for there to only be 2 pieces of the taro W and yam W!! My total came out to be $14 but the taste of the dessert was good. It is very Asian approved, meaning it was not too sweet. I'm glad I got the mango ice cream with it because that made it sweeter which I liked. The pudding was also soft and delicate but had a more bitter matcha taste than my preference. Overall every thing was good and the grass jelly was superrrr jiggly lol. As for the texture of the yam Q and taro Q, they weren't that good as I've definitely had ones that were chewier before, these ones tasted a bit too soft.

It's great we could find this Taiwanese dessert place in East Vancouver. The restaurant has a decent size that they got some tables and chairs with dividers, so customers can still sit and eat desserts during covid. If you see the menus I posted here, the restaurant has actually got more menus. It means they got so many different beverages and desserts. My husband and I tried their blackball lemon aiyu jelly. It's about $10 a dish. It was affordable. Both of us could share one dish. Of course we could order more ingredients or other dishes. Maybe next time. The restaurant also sells Castellar cheese tarts! I saw customers bought them and carried them on Kingsway. I realized they bought them from Blackball Taiwanese Desserts. I would love to come back and try other beverages and desserts. It has branches in other cities, so it's quite convenient and try their food and beverages at any time. They open till 10pm or 11pm depending on the dates.

Went here 2 days in a row, hubby loved the layonel's that I ordered during the 1st visit. It gets full most of the time, but service is fast & there is an ample space for everyone.

After work, I was so excited to try their new matcha shaved ice, sesame ice cream, boba...3 in 1 dessert but already sold out at 3:30pm. So sad. Instead of that, tried their new drink with matcha jelly and other boba ball. Jelly was silky smooth like tofu and boba was very chewy and stuffy. It's a drink but it stayed in my stomuch for a while. Very interesting experience. My concern and request: there are some hand sanitizers on the tables but tables and chairs were not cleaned/disinfected regularly. There were sticky stains and we wiped them using napkin and hand sanitizer. very disappointing. Please clean regularly. Cafe was not busy at all.

Located in the Union square shopping centre and in the heart of Richmond, you've got a lot of dessert places to compete with like meat fresh, bubble world, mango yummy and alley located all in the same centre. Being their flagship store, they get a lot of people's attention with their cute design characters on their shaved ice and drinks. We decided to order their kyoto shaved ice and kyoto matcha set and at the time we were allowed to eat in so we did. Presentation was appealing and taste wasn't bad but it's a lot of dessert to eat between 2 people so I would just order one next time. Because of the designs they do charge a little bit more and depending on the time, there can be a line up so be prepared. One good thing going for them is that they close late which a lot of other places don't due to the pandemic. The reason I didn't give a higher rating is because I'm a little spoiled as Richmond has so many dessert options to choose from that are amazing however I would come back again and check out another dessert.

I was so excited when I found out that Blackball opened on Kingsway. It's so much closer to home. They are close to Milk & Sugar. I went in yesterday to pick up a dessert and a drink. They were not that busy, just a Fantuan driver waiting. Since the last time I had Blackball was 8 months ago, I had no clue what to order. The girl was very nice and explained to me that I can customize my dessert. I chose grass jelly, taro balls, taro Q, sweet taro, sweet potato balls, and green beans. Yep, I'm a taro lover. I also had the fresh milk with purple rice. Both items came to be $20. I had the large dessert. It's not cheap but I don't mind it since I only have it once every 8 months. Lol I love the dessert with the coffee cream. All the toppings were not that sweet and taro balls were chewy. The drink was average. It's kinda bland but the purple rice was interesting. I will return (hopefully soon) since I want to try their Aiyu Jelly and their hot drinks. The girls were helpful and patient.

Taiwanese dessert cafes have been popping up all over the Vancouver area. The most popular addition has been Blackball Taiwanese Dessert. Naturally, I was curious about what the hype was about so I decided to head over to the Kingsway location of Blackball Taiwanese Dessert. I'm used to bars having Happy Hour but they have Happy hour here too! From 2-5pm Monday to Friday, the Blackball Signature crushed ice, Pearls grass jelly, Agar aiyu jelly, Grass jelly milk tea and Wintermelon lemon tea are up to 50% off! The menu at Blackball is simple. They offer crushed ice, grass jelly, aiyu jelly and tofu topped with an assortment of toppings. The toppings include sweet potato balls, taro balls, red bean, coconut jelly, pearls, aloe vera, mini pearls, fresh taro and fresh sweet potato. You can choose to have a pre-set dessert or you can create your own by adding toppings for $1.50 each. The anni tofu on this dessert was extremely soft and in the cutest dome shape. It came with fresh sweet potato chunks, pearls and red bean. Grayson thought that it was a bit sweet for his liking because of all the syrup. He would have preferred it ore if there wasn't as much brown sugar syrup. The Blackball aiyu jelly dessert came with pearls, coconut jelly, aloe vera, yam balls, and taro balls. The aiyu jelly had a soft texture and had a lemon-y flavour to it. The pearls were chewy, and aloe vera added a nice textural element. In my opinion, the coconut jelly made the dessert far too sweet. I was really looking forward to the yam and taro balls. Unfortunately, they were firm in texture and I wasn't a fan. I prefer the ones from ZenQ.

I ordered the yuzu citron float with matcha gelato. It was very good. It is a pricey drink but I got a deal that was 2 for 1 so it was worth it. I enjoyed the coconut meat in the drink. It was very tasty and refreshing. Prob don't even need the gelato. It was delicious withou

This is such a cute place for dessert! My family and I thought the decor is super cute! The shaved ice is yummy and we can't wait to visit again!

I've tried the Blackball location once in Richmond when they first opened but haven't been back again. This time I was lured in by their Kyoto Matcha shaved ice promotion for the summer. It was super satisfying on a hot day and there is grass jelly under the match shaved ice too! I loved the assortment of toppings it came with, especially the mochi and yam QQ. I love black sesame ice cream and this one had great flavour. The googly eyes are actually hard candies in case you were wondering. This store is pretty small compared to the Richmond location though but you can dine in now.

Came to the Kingsway location for the first time and got this brown sugar ice cream/shaved ice dessert. Came with grass jelly, boba pearls, and mochi! Tasted just like the brown sugar bbt. (10.45$)

Vancouver has some of the most updated Taiwanese good eats to satisfy our nostalgia without having to go back home ! This place is one perfect example! This place offers the best grass jelly desserts I ever had ! I wish I live nearby so I can come all the time !

The gentleman (owner?) greeted us and provided us with some suggestions on their best sellers. During our dining experience, he was a little loud with shouting instructions to the kitchen and we did feel a bit rushed to finish our meal and not occupy the table with diners lining up. I ordered the beef noodle soup, and the noodles were prepared well (good texture and not soggy) and the soup had a slight but not overwhelm sour taste from the preserved vegetables. The beef wasn't as tender as it could be, but it wasn't chewy or tough to eat. Prices are reasonable at around $20 after tax and tips. While it wasn't the best or most authentic beef noodle soup I've had, it does hit the spot if I'm craving Taiwanese food downtown or want a hot bowl of noodle soup on a cold day.

I think most people do that so it also gets filled up during the lunch hour rush. The food is ok, nothing special. The price increase makes it even less appealing. I don't know why there is chili in my Taiwanese beef noodle soup. I don't like spicy soup. Lucky I am ok with spice but I wish it is stated in the menu? So if you cannot take spicy food, check with them before ordering. The beef noodle soup is tasty as I do like the addition of pickled vegetables in it, giving a bit of tartness. The beef is tender though the quantity is very little. More noodles than meat ratio. The combo is totally not worth it now that the price has gone up to about $13. If you want rice and noodle for lunch, I think Peaceful Restaurant across the street is a better bet. At least the portion is bigger.

Classic Brown Sugar Ice Bear $16+: definitely very fun and cute, and it's a shareable size. I liked how there was a layer of grass jelly and chewy konjac jelly on the bottom for added texture. The snout is made of ice cream and topped with a pair of Oreo ears. I'd recommend eating it quickly or perhaps getting a separate bowl to mix it. The ice is traditional Taiwanese-styled, so it is coarse and therefore doesn't absorb the syrup as well as bingsoo for example (which is fine/powdery ice). Soft Serve w/ Freeze Dried Fruit 6+: you can also get the soft serve in a cone which is about $1 cheaper, but you can't add toppings to it. I really liked the real freeze-dried fruits, especially the blueberries. There are other fruits available too (eg. Strawberries, raspberry, pistachio etc) which are all addition $2. The blackberries were a bit to big and had lots of seeds, so the texture was a bit too crunchy mixed with the soft ice cream. Dried blueberries were amazing though and jam packed with flavour. Since it's real fruit, some of them may be quite sour (which I actually enjoyed) as it pairs well with the sweetness of the soft serve. Soft Serve w/ Brown Sugar Pearls $6+: brown sugar syrup wasn't too sweet, so I enjoyed this as well. My favourite would still be adding freeze dried blueberries though, as it's more unique and fruity (personal preference) Espresso Meets Grass Jelly & Gelato $8+: pretty strong coffee drink, unlike a lot of bubble tea/dessert places, so I'd only recommend it to regular coffee drinkers (me). The drink is served hot with a scoop of gelato which melts very quickly. LOTS of soft grass jelly - you'll definitely get a mouthful of it every sip. Good amount of sweetness for me.
