My regular nail tech was on vacation, and I really needed a gel manicure and pedicure ASAP. After reviewing Yelp, and the great reviews and photos of Sweet Nails Spa, I decided to make an appointment here. This salon is located in a little strip mall in Raleigh, off of Ten Ten Road. I walked in and informed the man at the counter that I had an appointment. He told me to pick a color from the wall and I was promptly seated. This salon is eerily quiet. There were TVs that were on, but the sound was off. I thought that was strange. A young man was my pedicure technician and an older woman began removing the gel polish from my hands. I was offered something to drink but I declined. I thought it was cool that they offered wine as one of the drink selections though. I chose the basic pedicure and basic gel manicure services. My pedicure technician used tiny pumice sponges to remove the dead skin from my feet and heels. They were so tiny, it was hard for him to grip them. I noticed other technicians were using these tiny sponges too. Once all of the gel was removed from my hands, the woman took over my pedicure. All that was left was the polish. I was surprised that she didn't use a base coat; she just started applying the color, and then a topcoat at the end. Then it was time for my manicure. It was super basic; the woman barely removed my dead cuticles, she started applying polish right away. Once the polish dried, she rubbed a little lotion on my hands and gave me some sugar scrub to wash my hands with. These basic services cost me $64!! SAY WHAAAT?!? That doesn't even include the tip!! I was really bummed. My feet barely felt like I had a pedicure; they are still very rough, and my hands look terrible (see attached pic). I give this experience 2.5 stars. I won't be back. read more

Found my new nail salon! Finally. I've been looking for a spot for a few months now, but there's always some kind of issue with places...whether it's a place that is too busy and never has availability, no masks being worn, or just not the right vibe. This place is not that! Whenever I call they can take me same day, within a 30 minute window or even less, masks worn by employees and patrons, cool relaxed vibe, decent prices (comparable with the area). I tried a new service today called a Jelly pedi. It was different but I enjoyed it. Instead of water they place a product in the water that turns to jelly. You squish your toes around in it for about 5 minutes or so. Afterward you get your usual nail primp and pamper time. I chose a basic white painted nail. Selected gel (an additional $15) to last me a good while. However, when it's time for my next pedi (and mani) definitely will make my appointment at Sweet Nails. Ps: even the restroom was clean!! I was extremely disappointed with Sweet Nails. I tried to walk in on a Tuesday but they were quite busy, so I made an appointment for a Wednesday afternoon at 2. No big deal. Luckily on Wednesday they were not too busy and saw to me right away. My service was a full gel set with tips, which is a relatively expensive service and the cost here is slightly higher than other salons I've been to, but is still within reason. My issues began when they did absolutely NO cuticle care before starting the gel. For a $60+ service I expect that my cuticles will be trimmed at the very least. I wasn't expecting a manicure, but without pushing back the cuticles your manicure is worthless in about a week. Second problem arose when the gel was applied. It was done FAR too thick (5mm at the tip and 8+ mm thick in the center based on my measurements when I got home). When I brought up the issue with the nail tech his response was "If I make them thinner they will fall off", which seemed wild to me as I've been getting gel fills for about 8 years now and have NEVER had them applied like that. But I decided that he was the professional and just to trust him, maybe they would last longer! (They did not) Third problem came with the actual painting of the nail. I asked if they were equipped to do a pink and white ombré, which is achieved using pink and while gel. I was told yes of course but when it came time they attempted to do all pink gel and then paint on a white tip to get the ombré look. It looked terrible but at this point I was so tired of the interaction (and knowing the couldn't fix it to what I truly wanted) just accepted it, paid, and moved on. My nails looked decent for about a week before they were too grown out around the cuticles, and they had begun to lift around the sides causing my hair to constantly get caught underneath. (Generally I can go 3-4 weeks before this happens). Thank goodness I found another salon who actually knew what they were doing AND charged about $15 less (before tip). In good news Sweet nails was doing a good job with Covid regulations, so I felt comfortable in that way at least. Otherwise I would definitely suggest looking elsewhere. read more

This is the most wonderful and comfortable nail salon in the 919 area. I have received the same service (mani and pedi) in Durham, Cary, Garner, and Raleigh at some of the most expensive places! But this spa steals the show! I called close to closing time and I was still serviced. In fact the family stayed almost 45 minutes past closing and took their time to provide the beat customer service I have ever experienced out of all the establishments I have reviewed. Let me get to the point: 1. Clean 2. Relaxing 3. Sleek (Flat screen tv, nail bar with purse or bag hooks, decor) 4. Polite, patient and accommodating staff 5. Complimentary drinks (wine, soda, water) 6. Brand new pedicure massage chairs 7. Foot tub liners 8. Gel polish that does not chip at all, and the regular polish match (my true mani/pedi people know how important that is, and they have it so organized!) 9. Family run business, they work so well together I will not waste my time or money anywhere else! Also my service has lasted 20 days so far and not one chip in my polish!!!!! read more

One of the best pedicures I've ever had (and my friend who went with agreed)! Granted it was long (about 2 hours) but they were so meticulous and did a phenomenal job. I was a little nervous to go because it's not the best shopping center, but do not judge a book by its cover with this place! They offer you drinks, don't pressure you to get a better (more costly) deal, have plenty of color options, and are very clean. I can't wait to go back next week to get a manicure. I have never been to a salon where there has been this much attention to detail. They take their time and do amazing work. Also, by far the sweetest people you will ever meet. I absolutely love this place this is the only place I will go to get a pedicure. Trina and Mimi are amazing. I've gotten my nails done here and Trina did a very exceptional job. However the prices for a full set were very pricey, when I can go somewhere else for it to be $15 cheaper. After I tip I end up paying $70-75 for a basic full set nothing added . Worst pedicure I've ever had. A young man was my technician and I'm convinced he's never had formal training. It had been almost 4 months since my last pedicure so my feet and toenails definitely needed some care. The cuticles were barely pushed back and trimmed, my toes nails were barely cut and my feet don't even look like they were scrubbed with a pumice stone. Ten days ago, I paid $35 (plus a $7 tip) for a manicure with gel polish. The polish started to peel and pop up from the nail bed. I returned to the salon today and the owner dismissed my concern (in front of several other customers) by saying in a loud voice, "Your nails grow. It's not my problem." Since I think a gel manicure should last longer than this, I asked the manicurist to remove the polish, which she did...for a $10 charge. I really thought that I had found the perfect nail salon; I have been back three times and my daughter came with me one time. I will not be returning. For $42.00, I can paint my own nails every ten days for probably a year. More importantly, I was embarrassed by the owner's response to my concern. I would have preferred not to discuss my complaint in front of the other workers and their clients, but I was not afforded this opportunity. read more
