Only place in town I've seen with the variety of flavored popcorns, both cheesy / powder coated and the caramelized kinds. They offered us free samples to help us decide what to get each time... which is difficult; we like all that we've tried so far. I'm in love with the cherry flavor popcorn, and my girlfriend can't stop getting the honey butter variety. They also have a variety of nice candy in fill-your-own-bag format, and they serve Ugly Mug (very good local roast) coffee and espresso drinks. The only thing I wish they had more of was cafe-style seating, but there is some bar-style seating, and they mentioned that they plan to add something more in place of a corner product display. Bottom line: Great flavored popcorn, nice place to get quality candy, best place in the area for coffee/espresso drinks. read more

After learning to appreciate popcorn, I was happy to hear that Sweet Noshings sold gourmet popcorn! I bought some, and my roommate and I loved it. I only tried the caramel (or vanilla?) flavor, but I look forward to trying more. I haven't had any of their coffee beverages yet, but they are open super early for you to grab a pastry and coffee on the way to work. The candy selection was small, but I think it is because they JUST opened. I'd like to see rarer and/or specialty candy/chocolate in the future. Friendly staff, cute environment. The ice cream sandwich was delicious. Two fresh homemade chocolate chip cookies holding a scoop each of chocolate chip cookie dough and caramel praline pecan ice cream was more than enough for two to share. The spicy cheddar and jalapeño popcorn were also tasty! Return visit- I had the Key Lime Pie ice cream today made in house. The texture was perfect and the flavor was delicious! Too many temptations for my chubby tendencies ;) Sweet Noshings has a huge variety of gummy candies, chocolates, pretzels, jelly beans, flavored popcorns (that change sometimes daily depending on what's low on any given day), fudges, cookies, throwback candies and sodas, and Ugly Mug coffees. They'll allow you to try any of their 20ish popcorn flavors on their wall before committing to a full bag. The candies are sold by weight and there's a ridiculously huge variety considering the generally small public area of the shop. They have Harry Potter reminiscent Butterscotch 'Butter Beer' and it's DELICIOUS if you love butterscotch. Leena is such a sweetheart. Her and the man that are in there the most often really take the time to get to know the people that come in the store. I even swung by during crawfish festival this past Saturday and they were handling the crowd like pros with only three staff on hand! Super impressed. Bear in mind that their pretzel flavors change with the seasons and their popcorn flavors are changed almost daily...the full wall isn't changed, but flavors that run out are replaced by new flavors. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the old school malt shop/candy store vibe that you get as soon as you walk in. You immediately feel a hometown, local comfort wrapped in down home southern roots. This place is a special gem in Overton Square. Make sure you have a little time to be able to explore all they have to offer. I love popcorn and their gourmet popcorn is some of the best. They have your normal flavors you can always depend on like caramel corn and cheddar. But then they have interesting flavors like Pizza and Parmesean Garlic, which are both excellent by the way. You can mix and match different flavors in the same bag too. They have candy that would suit anyone's sweet tooth. My personal favorites are the chocolate covered gummy bears and cheesecake balls. So good! You can also find all sorts of fruity candies and dozens of different jelly beans. They get new candy in all the time too so there's always new things to try. With the candy, you pay by the pound so grab a bag and fill it up! They also have ice cream, coffee and a ton of pre-packaged items you can get. First of all, I have to say I am loving the "new" Overton Square, and stores like this just add to the quirkiness and variety going in there. I stopped by on a whim after getting a massage (great placement!). They have quite the selection ranging from stick candies, bulk candies, chocolate counter with fudges and such and then a popcorn bar. My favorite was the gourmet popcorn by far!! And the fact that you could sample just made the experience a little more fun. I ended up buying the two I sampled: BCR (Bacon, Cheese, Ranch!!) and Salted Chocolate Caramel. I liked the variety of the chocolate counter even though I wasn't too adventurous, um... Chocolate covered potato chips? I can attest that the fudge was quite yummy - again, loved the salted caramel option! Can't wait to go back and take the fam! read more

The staff was very nice and let us try samples of two different ice creams before we decided which to order. There was a really good selection of candies to choose from and a cool feature was a little basket on the side of the candy shelves to hold the lids of the candy jars. The store was very well lit and spacious. They had a nice bar area set up with stools that you could sit at and eat. This cute little shop offers about every candy you can imagine. But be careful: most is priced by the pound, which can get out of hand really quickly! My favorite is the dark chocolate covered sea salt caramels. They're savory and sweet, a perfect combo for my salt-loving tastebuds. They also brew tasty coffee and have some gelato and ice cream to choose from, too. I've yet to have any ice cream, but I've been eyeing the pretzel cones...I've gotta try that. I've found the service is weirdly hit-or-miss. Sometimes I get a warm welcome from the staff, other times I get the cold shoulder. No one has ever been outright rude, just indifferent. But it's a great place to stop for a little sweet treat after a big Overton Square meal, so I'll be back. read more

A visit to Sweet Noshings is my favorite place to treat myself after work or completing a project. This place is great and you smell the aroma of chocolate and coffee as soon as you open the door. I'm a super big fan of the praline pecans-thanks for always being willing to order more for me. They have everything from jelly beans, fudge, lollipops, licorice, old fashioned candy, sour straws, and every chocolate covered concoction you can imagine. Chocolate treats relax and de-stress me after a stressful day or situation and Sweet Noshings delivers. Today I purchased chocolate covered cherries, strawberries, cranberries, blueberries, orange peel, and cayenne pepper. I also got a few yogurt covered treats-I can pretend these were my healthy options :). They also have over 20 flavors of popcorn, ice cream, and gourmet coffee drinks. Very cool. The store has a nice mix of gourmet-type candy with nostalgic-type candy, along with coffee (Ugly Mug) and snacks. But the best part is the homemade popcorn counter. That's what I'll be heading back for real soon. I want to try each flavor at least once before I settle on a favorite. From the second we entered, my two-year old went crazy. Candy, cake, flavored popcorn -- he couldn't contain himself. My wife kind of went crazy too. She loved the peanut-butter cake thing (not sure what it's called, but the owner -- who was incredibly friendly -- said it sells out quick). Nostalgia city! Like a kid in a candy shop doesn't even cut it. So many old, familiar treats, cool treats & even a couple odd ones. The 2 that stick out are the bacon soda & the buffalo wing soda (bought those, but haven't tried them yet & got Cheerwine that I grew up with in Charlotte). They were sold out of the peanut butter & jelly soda. I like savory snacks over sweet usually so I also purchased some of the flavored popcorns. I just visited the store and loved the atmosphere and enjoyed the chocolate Pecans and Almonds. The honey butter popcorn which I learned was no sugar but a healthier organic corn which was very delicious than the Honey Butter I tasted before. I really loved the "butterscotch beer" which wasn't an alcoholic beverage but was an incredible drink that I never tasted before and if I wanted to could drink several of them without getting drunk. It's a candy, fudge, popcorn, and ice cream shop -- how could it possibly be bad?? In all honest though, you can't go wrong with anything from here. I'm a huge fan of sour gummy candies and they have a wide assortment that is always fresh. I also love the fact that it's set up like a traditional candy shop -- jars of all sorts of hard candies, gummy candies, jelly beans, chocolates, etc. to choose from to your heart's extent. There was a young lady who was working there who rolled her eyes at me every time I asked w question and refused to answer. I spoke with the owner and pointed out the behavior that young lady was still exhibiting. The manager acknowledged the disrespect of the service from the employee and stated she would talk with her. I REALLY, REALLY wanted to like this place, but, I found the service to be very stand-offish and bordering on rude. While they have a cute store, and some cool stuff, honestly, a lot of similar inventory can be found at Target, but you want to support local business, right? Right. But, when asking any questions, the only help we received was a "point" in the general direction of the merchandise in question. The elite attitude was plainly just uncalled for and not even slightly impressive, if it was meant to seem exclusive, sorry, I missed that nuance. I went there with friends who were visiting from Nashville with their four-year-old son, who is very well behaved. (I wondered later if the attitude was because of a child, but, a candy store that doesn't like kids... surely not?) I found myself apologizing for their behavior to my friends and assuring them that things in the new Overton Square were actually not like that. (No one from Memphis likes to have to defend Memphis, especially to folks from Nashville). I've lived and worked in Midtown for 25 years and I won't be back. Get over yourself, Sweetie. Not a fan of candy, but always go back for the popcorn. The freshness is always a hit or miss. But overall a nice shop. The main problem is Leena. She is one of the owners I guess? She's incredibly rude and standoffish. Both to adults and children. I always tell myself service will be better when I pop in every couple of months, but she is always there lurking behind the counter with her blank stare. You work at a candy shop!
