I was finalizing wedding plans and realized that I needed a gluten free cake for several relatives that would be at our reception. I researched bakeries and found Kim and Jake's Cakes through a friend who loved them. I made a frantic call and they were truly wonderful!! Their presentation leaves much to be desired. We bought two dozen cupcakes (about $80) for a baby shower and are seriously underwhelmed with the result. Not only is the frosting lumped on in unattractive swirls, but they didn't bother to cover the greasy cake wrappers they were baked in. We are doing a lot of last-minute modifications to make them presentable. Disappointed. read more

I found Kim and Jake's online. I ordered the Chocolatey Chocolate cake for my daughter's birthday (20th). In addition to being beautifully decorated, it was absolutely delicious. Horribly ran establishment, stopped in to purchase a cake and an employee working was parked taking up three spots in front of the shop. All I said was "nice parking," and the employee started yelling about how they were taking these things to a charity event, so they can do what they want. All to find out it's the owner. Can't believe someone would run a business in that format. Can't imagine they'll have much success with that sort of customer service! read more

Had my first experience with this wonderful little bakery today! With Mardi Gras coming up on Tuesday, I decided to have a little party to celebrate and desperately needed a king cake at the last minute. Not only did they fill my order for a king cake in less than 48 hours, but they had it ready exactly when I needed it, nearly down to the minute! I have NEVER had a king cake (complete with baby inside) this delicious and the best part? It was gluten free! I was so happy I got to share this little tradition with many friends of mine here in Colorado who had never heard of king cake. I got the brown sugar ginger cake this weekend for our wedding and it was delicious! The cake was soft and fluffy, great flavor and not too sweet. It was so different from the "standard wedding cake". Everyone loved it and no one could believe it was gluten free. The service was so easy which is great when planning a wedding. read more

The best part about my wedding (except my wife, of course) was the cake. We had three different varieties, and the guests raved about all three. We love Kim and Jake's pastries, and so it was a no brainer that we asked them to make our wedding cake. We ordered a small two-tier wedding cake and 4 dozen cupcakes for our summer wedding. The cake was absolutely delicious and beautiful. Kimber did a great job coordinating all of the efforts, and the decoration with the live flowers looked incredible. My friend used to work here, and I love supporting local businesses. I've tried their GF stuff before, but never straight from the shop. What a disappointment. I bought two cake tops AKA "picnic cakes." They were awful, tasted like they had been frozen for two months and then set out on the counter. I haven't been GF for that long, but usually when I walk into a bakery I want something that was made that day. I know for a fact from my friend, they freeze their goods and then put them out, but seriously make it so it doesn't taste like a FREEZER. Gross! read more

Delicious! For our wedding we ordered a beautiful two-tiered cake with chocolate and vanilla tiers, and we also ordered the macchiato cake on the side. I was so impressed by the gorgeous presentation - delivered, set up, even flowers beautifully placed. I've had Kim and Jake's cakes before and knew they would be delicious, but all of the guests raved about them and could not believe they were gluten-free. The macchiato cake was the biggest hit! The Macchiato, which consists of two layers of espresso chocolate cake and espresso butter cream & fresh whipped cream, was pretty good. The cake by itself was a little awkward. I couldn't quite pin point what was odd about the taste, but it was definitely a little bit off. You could definitely feel the espresso granules as you're eating it, which I liked. The butter cream was nice. It almost had an amaretto flavor to it. So, when you pair the icing with the cake, it tastes good as the butter cream masks the oddities of the cake. The thin layer of fresh whipped cream on top was also a nice touch. The staff is very friendly. Hope to stop by again to try some other items. read more

We get Kim and Jake cakes for our monthly birthday night celebrations here at Frasier Meadows. After tasting their gluten free pumpkin spice cake, which was delicious, I ordered a chocolate cake for a good friend's 80th birthday party. It was DELICIOUS - so moist. All the guests delighted in such a fine finish to our pot luck dinner. We had some left over and had it the next night - guess what? It was still moist and a wonderful treat the second time around. Kim & Jake's is the best gluten-free cake bakery in Boulder. They get 5 stars for their exceptional customer service (when that other place failed us), but 4 1/2 on their chocolate. If you are GF, you should know that they have GF cupcakes every Friday! For my daughter's 14th birthday last year, they made the most amazing strawberry cupcakes we've ever had (that's a lot of cupcakes). They were beautiful, light, and incredibly flavorful. Ordering them again this year. If you are a fan of coconut, the GF coconut cake is other-wordly. read more

We get Kim and Jake's cakes for every birthday in our family. Last night we had chocolate on chocolate for our son's birthday. AMAZING! The cake was so moist and delicious! It appealed to the kids and the grown ups which is great as kids sometimes don't like the richer flavors and grown ups don't like the processed frosting - making the cake pretty much perfect. I ordered a Valentine's Day cake for my wife and Kim recommended a Vino cake with cream cheese frosting. I searched out their bakery based on positive comments on this website. Bottom line, the cake plus inscription was a huge hit with my wife and her work group...they absolutely loved it down to the last morsel. Delicious alone does not describe the rave reviews I received later. Walmart sells sheet cake for $10.00, but not for the love of my life (38 years). Kim and Jakes Cakes are the best of the best. Absolutely fantastic! Easy to work with and delicious results! We ordered our wedding cake from them and some cupcakes. They were able to deliver as well which made things much easier for us on our wedding day. If we hadn't told our guests that the cake was gluten free they never would have known. We had the carrot cake with almond frosting and it was sooo good! We all wished for more tummy room so that we could eat more. We would highly recommend them for special events or just because. I saw the cookies as I was checking out my groceries at Safeway. Good grief another GF cookie... Hm they look good from the package so I bought them. What the heck, I thought. Sat down in the afternoon with a cup of coffee and had one and then another . OMG I could have eaten the entire box! That is bad... I'm not gluten free, but I still love Kim and Jakes. I started buying cupcakes here when they still had the not gluten free variety, and I was a little upset when they stopped selling those, but honestly their gluten free cupcakes are still better than most normal ones, which is not an easy feat! The staff is always helpful and friendly, and samples are always readily available. I really wish they would label the items in their small display case so I didn't have to ask every time, and it seems like the cupcakes have gotten a little smaller over time, but I still always leave happy! read more
