I am so sad to be able to back up the other claims that BRB has taken a nosedive since new ownership -- and I've given it many, many second tries in hopes it was just a fluke. The number of items they offer has been reduced by at least 75%. The pastry cases are almost bare and have 3-4 varieties at most. There are no more of the take and bake or deli items or the refrigerated brownies/blondies/goodies. Staple menu items are smaller and unrecognizable. This place used to be a place I was always SO excited and proud to bring out-of-towners. It was my go to for Saturday/Sunday brunch, a place to grab a sweet before going on a roadtrip or heading into work, a place to go and read or work remotely and have a cookie and a coffee, a place to pick up a take and bake if I had a rough day and cooking dinner felt like too much, THE only place I'd go to grab pastries/cakes for all birthdays, anniversaries, dinners, baby showers, celebrations. But it's just not anymore and there's nothing else like it around. It felt like such a warm, community hub, a place to have a little treat and spend quality time with your loved ones or just yourself and it's just something else entirely now. Truly a heartbreaking loss. Petition to start a kickstarter to get the previous owner back? I've been remiss in getting a review in. This has become our go-to bakery for a few years now. Great pastries, cakes and cookies. They have an extensive food menu but we've not tried it. The display cases are filled with beautiful works of edible art! Located in The District there is both seating in the bakery as well as the atrium. With a coffee shop across the atrium, it's the perfect place to go to get a little work done and have coffee and delicious pastry. Highly recommend! read more

As long as we were in the mall and I saw that Button Rock had a direct door from the center seating area into their shop, we felt the need to try them too as we rarely get to Lafayette. This was a place I had heard about for some time and though we had just eaten some of our purchase from our first stop here, we thought we should sample some things to take home. We looked through the plentiful cases and saw many pretty things. So many were labelled "gluten free" we thought the entire bakery was so. Must gluten free baked goods are often too dry for me but my husband picked out an apricot tartar take home and share. I saw some adorable seasonal design marzipan, pumpkins and fall leaves. I love marzipan and since naturally gluten free as a an almond paste product, is naturally moist too. We bought the tart and a fall maple leaf. The marzipan is from a company out of state and a well known specialty company. We ate them at home later in the day and they were as expected. Very sweet but delicious. The crust on the tart( gluten free) was a bit dry for me but not my husband. I ate the marzipan leaf myself as it was a one bite size and my husband is not a fan of marzipan. We also will go back this winter when back in the area and try a brunch meal next. The menu looked promising. read more

Visited my favorite brewery in town today only to find out that I couldn't order the sandwich I was expecting with my drinks. New ownership decided to close at 5pm to save money. While commiserating with my wife over a pint, we witnessed the bartender having to explain to no fewer than eight customers within 15 minutes that the brewery was also caught unaware by the decision. There is such a thing as a local business ecosystem, and these new owners don't get it. Maybe they will learn, but catching everyone off guard is not building trust here. read more

Welp... again it's been a hot minute but I'm back to inform the public that the Breakfast Burrito (w/ Bacon) is still THE BEST IN TOWN and definitely a top contender in the entire Denver metro! The burrito comes with eggs, latke potatoes, cheddar cheese, a choice of protein: veggie, sausage, chorizo, bacon or tempeh chorizo. Plus, a side of red and green salsa to drizzle on your burrito as you eat it. Now, I've still only ever tried the bacon. It's just my cup of protein! I'd imagine any of the proteins would whip up into a killer burrito. Well, previously I was disappointed in the very poor quality of baked goods. Hard to believe, but under new management it is worse. They don't have pies. There was a choice of a few cakes and some cupcakes. In its place you get imported pasta etc and believe it or not ice cream! Minimal breakfast pastries and a sandwich shop. Decided to go for something special for my 2 year olds birthday. I met the cake artist that day and she was able to help me with my design of a beautiful cake. Like some reviews said, it's not the most moist cake I've had but we went for the decor this time. The flavor was good. I think if it were baked fresh, and chocolate flavor for the cake or would be a little more moist. Stumbled upon this while visiting another place in the District. Hadn't even planned on eating a late breakfast at that point. And then...Button Rock appeared. It's cute, fun atmosphere (though not really a fully sit-down place) with very helpful and fun staff to guide our choices. We shared a sausage breakfast burrito. Chock loaded and yummy -- don't see how either of us could have eaten a whole one. And... certainly not because we needed it... we had to have a key-lime pizzelle, and a peanut butter layered cookie bar that was out of this world. Will not be coming back, ever. Hubby bought a gluten free "cake" that was nothing but a pile of frosting and a ball of un-cooked meringue, fluffy egg white. NASTY!! We tossed it. How has such a wonderful staple with an amazing deli turned into mediocrity in a matter of a few weeks? New ownership! And it is not doing anyone any favors. Few things that struck me- no longer "Jewish deli" items on the menu- but "Brooklyn deli" items? This is hilarious to me but not really surprising, ignorance. The quality and taste of food went from a consistent 7 to 10 to a 4/5, tops. Burnt bread with cold meats inside- I can do that!! We also over heard the new owner (his son perhaps?) talking down to one of the staff members- as if she was a child. About cookie tray placement. Ok, enough said... we won't be back. Sorry to the remaining staff. We always enjoyed our time interacting with you all. Yes we have given the new ownership a few tries over the last few weeks- poor food, each time. Too bad. They are wonderful, supportive members of the community and known for being great employers. I really want to like them. But every time I go, something goes wrong. They cook something incorrectly, they leave out parts of my order, they box the wrong thing, etc. I haven't had one visit without some kind of mistake. And they lean slightly expensive, which makes it harder to forgive repeated issues. But I'll keep trying because they really are a great business. read more

It was a dream for anyone who's gluten intolerant. My sister ordered a GF cream puff, GF sugar cookie, GF cosmic brownie, GF cookie dough! All are so so so good! I ordered the chocolate confection (happens to be GF). It was a chocolate lovers dream. Sooo good and rich. I loved this bakery and their staff! Cute atmosphere as well. The service here is great. Everyone is friendly. I had the gravilox bagel sandwivch on an everything bagel. It was amazing. Plenty of lox and capers. Thay have a great patio area outside. I recently discovered Button Rock on Yelp and was pulled in by all of the good reviews. I was craving a lunch sandwich and they seemed to have some interesting options. I'm a sucker for a Turkey Rueben and the Turkey Rachel delivered in that category. The Turkey had a nice smoky flavor and was offset by the creaminess of the slaw and dressing. I don't think I've ever had Emmenthal cheese before and it was a nice alternative to Swiss and gave the sandwich some good flavor. The rye bread took the sandwich to another level. It was flavorful, but not overpowering like some rye can be and it was so perfectly crispy and buttery. It hit the spot for sure. The mama Lori was also good and had some nice meat variety. The ingredients all tasted very fresh. The bakery has so many options that all looked super tasty. I snagged a sugar cookie for my husband and he loved it. The prices are a bit steep with sandwiches running around $15, but the food is really good and I'm ok paying that if the ingredients are fresh and delicious which they are. I'm looking forward to trying a bunch more things and will update :) read more

I've been to this place a few times and while the food is pretty good it takes forever to get it. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese sandwich and it took almost 40 mins. You have 3 cooks in the back and one guy at a bodega could have it knocked out in 10 mins for half the price. This happened to me previously with a lox and bagel. I don't think it's worth the 14 dollars when you can get the same thing maybe even better at any made to order sandwich place. read more

As a longtime fan of Button Rock, I am immensely saddened to write this review. I knew that new ownership would mean changes. Unfortunately, those new decisions have come at the cost of taste, quality, and value. The fries, breads, and even the deli meats have been replaced by cheaper, generic products. But the prices haven't gone down. And while I understand that money must be spent to expand the seating area, the question remains - who would want to sit there and eat this food? read more

We were going to grab a snack at the little mini mall where this bakery restaurant resides, and decided to check them out instead. We are glad we did. They started 10 years ago in Lyons and are now in Lafayette. It reminds me of an old deli bakery, with an open kitchen behind the counter so you can watch the action. It's clean and new looking. They offer a lot of unique Jewish and Italian sandwiches. I had a meatball sandwich that was delicious with fresh meatballs and a slightly spicy marinara. I also tried a snickerdoodle which was not too soft and not too chewy, just right. Took home a peanut butter bliss bar which was light and tasty, not too rich. Their cakes on display are impressive. I tasted the gluten free cannoli and it was delicious. It had chocolate layer on inside probably to prevent sogginess, then the ricotta filling followed by chocolate chips on ends. Used to be an amazing staple of the community with the best sushi in town. But now it's under new ownership, and the new owners have systematically destroyed everything that made it special. Now it's just a generic, overpriced bakery that takes forever to make anything. No idea how the food is anymore because they've removed the sushi, the grab n' go shelf, and the ready bake items that were awesome for an easy dinner. I imagine a lot of their other stuff hasn't changed, but I usually don't bother with that. With half the counters closed and removals of shelves and coolers, it just looks depressing in there. The new owners have also started to destroy the relationships they used to have with other businesses, including one of my favorite breweries who was totally blindsighted by their decision to close early and save a few bucks. They've cleaned house in terms of staff as well, with many long-time employees having disappeared (unclear who's choice it was). Generally speaking, this is a business on its way out. Very sad to see, but hopefully whoever moves into the space next will be better. read more

The cake that Button Rock made for my niece's wedding was incredible. Not the traditional white cake, but rather a mountain scene, on all three layers. The bottom layer included an icing sculpture of my niece's dog popping out of the cake along with an original campfire scene on the second layer. The wedding guests raved about the vanilla cake with raspberry filling... yummy beyond belief. I worked with these great bakers long distance and they truly care about delivering a great cake! read more

Stopped by to see if they had gluten free cakes available. They did! They had a number of flavors in the freezer, already decorated. Defrosted as instructed and it was super tasty and super moist. It's a cute place and looks like they make all sorts of baked goods. I ended up purchasing 4 cupcakes, 4 sugar cookies, and 4 cake bites. I was kinda afraid that all the baked goods may be too sweet. I was wrong! All of them were so delicious!!! I tasted all of them and they are worth the money. They all were not overly sweet at all; even the cupcake icings. I was really surprised and impressed.
