First off, my burger was AMAZING!!!! Also, the Mac salad was fire. My husband's chicken Philly was underwhelming though. He was disappointed, which was unfortunate. Service was okay, the cashiers were very polite, but no one bussed the tables, so they were all sticky, still had trash on them, and the cashiers seemed very confused as to what their jobs entailed when they were speaking loudly about what they're supposed to do. Walk in and it's clean but simple. Read it by three very friendly young guys behind the counter. I couldn't find what I wanted on the menu so I asked them to make me a grilled cheese. It would come with any other sides so I went with the french fries. Absolutely killer grilled cheese sandwich. Grilled cheese can be really bland or it can be something worth eating. This was definitely worth eating! And the fries? Flavorful, crispy perfect haven't had fries this good in a long time. On top of that, it was super fast. My daughter had the chicken salad and it came with four pieces slices of chicken so it's an entire chicken breast sliced up so you don't have to fight with it. Everything was fresh. Wow! I stepped out and tried this burrito and was not disappointed. Quantity was generous, ate the other half for dinner. Meat was moist and plentiful and just enough potatoes to know they were there but not a filler in lieu of the protein. Mild Chile Verde was so good I asked for more. Service was friendly and prompt. Absolutely the worst experience. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with mac salad on 2/21/24. Food was foul, so bad not even the stray cats would touch it. The "burger" had no bacon, EVERYTHING was dry, no sauce, patty was way over cooked and the "cheese" was unreconizeable. The mac salad was just as dry as the burger. Not sure what or how you can mess up a simple order that badly but, they did. When I called the female that answered was even worse than the food, extremely rude. Everything was smothered in a sweet sauce. The brisket was NOT. More like some kind of stringy beef that was very tough . The order came with one rib that looked boiled. The beans looked like canned refried that had been doctored with mustard to taste like ..... Got the coleslaw, broccoli and beans. Broccoli was ok. Sauted with hint of garlic. Slaw was standard commercial with dried cranberries added. The bread was very meh.. Balloon white roll of the take and bake from a grocery store that was grilled with the overuse of butter or margarine. Never asked how spicy I wanted the BBQ sauce. Guess new staff isn't easy. Wait time for food was slower than usual for an unpacked house. Ordered a chorizo skillet with sourdough toast and a breakfast sandwich for my other party. The ham in the breakfast sandwich was burnt black and they still served it. My sourdough toast wasn't only toast but one side was char. Guess which side was presented? The unburned side was facing up. The chorizo was minuscule. But more dry scrambled egg that wasn't scrambled well. Cheese on the skillet was also dry and didn't want to melt over the eggs. And the home fries had no more than four pieces of onion and bell peppers in it. When Bill Kercher used to be on the line none of that would have slipped through to customers. I love this restaurant. The food is really good. And the staff is always really nice. Also, the sweet tea is to die for (which makes sense). Their salads are reallt good too and huge. My only complaint is that the last time I came in, I got a Cobb Salad. The chicken tasted like it had been cooked on the grill right after French toast and hadn't been cleaned all the way. It was very sweet and tasted of cinnamon. Had to pick the chicken off. Otherwise the salad was still pretty good and I had never had an issue before that. Potato salad was salty and gross the baked beans have a overpowering mustard flavor and the garlic bread is the frozen kind you buy from the dollar tree. The pulled pork was the worst protein on the plate had the strongest "refrigerator " flavor plus the fries were soggy. I had a good experience here today. Kind service, very little wait time, reasonable pricing, and the food was tasty. It's not their specialty, but they can accommodate vegans and people who can't eat cow milk products (dairy sensitivity/allergy and lactose intolerance). I got the veggie burrito which was large and very filling even with 2 ingredients removed, definitely a proper meal in its own right. I made 3 special requests on my order and the staff did the subtractions and addition perfectly, a good indication this place will help you out whether you're defending your dietary sensitivities or playing to your tastes, or both. The salsa was inexplicably weird. It's hard to explain, but it neither smelled nor tasted like I expect salsa to, reminding me more of a tomato relish. It wasn't bad, just definitely not typical in flavor so expect that if you want salsa. Smell it before you put it on your food and decide if you're into it or not. There was no extra charge for it. My dad enjoyed his pulled pork and eggs but thought it odd he was only given one slice of toast when most restaurants give two. Their rye bread is very good and they give you plenty of jelly, but only one slice of toasted bread. True to the name, Sweet Tea Express has 3 kinds of tea. It's $2.49 for a pretty big cup with free refills. I got sweet tea and holy moley was it ever SWEET. Sweetest sweet tea I've ever had, to the point it mostly tasted like getting punched in the tongue with sugar. I love me some sugar but it was a bit much even for me. Met my husband for a quick lunch today. My 10 year old and I shared the pulled pork fries and my husband got their tri tip sandwich with fries. We also ordered a small Mac salad just to try it. My daughter and I both recommend the pulled pork fries. The fries were crispy and season well with a huge pile of delicious, tender, melt in your mouth pulled pork and meaty cheese on top. The bbq sauce used on the fries had a little spicy kick to it. We enjoy spicy food so the kick was welcomed. The Mac salad, one of the best I have ever had. Creamy and refreshing. My husband's tri tip sandwich was also very delicious, a bun filled with tender tri tip, mushrooms and melted cheese all tied together with a creamy sauce. The service was outstanding! Super thinly sliced with no smoke or fat flavor you would come to expect from a brisket it is also over-sauced eliminating any chance for the beef flavor to shine through. When I received the brisket sandwich my first thought was roast beef deli meat smothered in BBQ sauce. Did I get all dry flat meat sliced thin and covered in sauce to hide toughness and lack of flavor? I saw nothing resembling the fatty point in any part of my sandwich. I have tried a lot of brisket and this one just doesn't resemble anything close to the legit places I have been. It is priced at $18/lb which is in the range you would expect for slow smoked brisket cooked for 8-12Hrs then rested and sliced thick - again the product here does not resemble this at all.
