Wife and I went in near closing time at the location near Blackbird on West Main in Medford. The apparent manager took our orders and was very helpful in selecting, advising what was and wasn't available, etc. We decided to have a brisket platter for my wife, and I had a patty melt. Both meals were large portions, The sides were more than ample on the platter and the biscuits were huge. We noted others were served on paperware and plastic ware. We were pleasantly surprised when the manager delivered my wife's platter on a china plate with metal silverware. He commented that he though that a better choice with the larger meals. My sandwich came in a basket, heaping with sweet potato fries. The food was all good. The brisket had good smoke flavor, and we got sauce on the side and so we enjoyed the flavor of the meat. The patty melt was good, well grilled, and my only complaint there was the obviously lower grade patty, machine made, which lacked any juiciness in the meat itself. A good hand pressed 80/20 patty would have made this 100% better in quality. Ketchup helped moisten the sandwich. The attention from the staff was very good, checking at reasonable intervals to see if we had needs. I definitely would return to this location. There is a nice outside patio if the weather (hot or cold) permits which is a good choice for enjoying your meal. read more

I expected a lot more from this place. We had their brisket and jalapeño burger, But the only descent part about the meal was the fries. Even their fries were over cooked. I was only able to take a few bites of the burger and the brisket was nothing but chewy fat. A woman asked how it was and when we told her, she just wrote us off. The food was amazing.. but they added extra sides to my door dash order and charged me for it.... I will not order from them again which sux because the food was amazing.. when I called the lady that answered the phone said it wasn't their problem that I was charged for extra food I did not order... Let me start by saying that this isn't the best tasting bbq I've ever had, but it was good. The best part of this little restaurant is the service. Maybe the takeout is better if you phone order and show up when it's done? Family and I came here last Saturday for breakfast... Only three other tables being served and two already had their food. Daughter got her breakfast first...a full 5 minutes before they brought out my wife's biscuits and gravy.... Then we sat and I watched them eat for a full 5 minutes more until my breakfast arrived... Pancakes! How hard are those? The quality of the food was terrible... Pancakes were rubbery and chewy, bacon was burned, not crisp, burned like charcoal... Sausages were undercooked and Luke warm (pink in the middle). Wife's biscuits were stale. Food server never checked on us and never gave explanation of issues with food arriving late and separately. This is simple: Sweet Tea Express is everything I want. It's the small town feel on a super busy street. I feel like when I walk in the door I'm transported to a little hole in the wall, middle of no where, mom and pop place. So my daughter recommended sweet tea so we order a classic hamburger with sweet potatoe fries. I had the pick three meats meal and I picked ribs,pulled chicken and the pulled pork with beans and slaw and garlic toast. I got my husband the tri tip meal. All three came to $48.00 and some change. We came to pick up our order and it was sitting on the counter right in front by the register. I asked the young man why my order was just sitting there and he said he just put it out there. So I take my food to the car and have my daughter open up the containers. All the meals looked like they were skimpy especially for what I paid. The food was in fact not hot. Not even close. I get home the food wasn't bad at all. In fact I highly recommend the ribs and beans. The reason I only gave three stars is because I was lied to. He told me he just made our meals and here they were cold with cold condiments in with food. I paid good money for cold food. do not eat their avocado, it was pure rubber. i couldn't even bite it. when i asked what was wrong with it and to get my money back the women had severe attitude and told me it comes frozen pre-packaged from merlin? i was so confused as i doubt merlin grows avocados. it was really confusing and grossed me out. the attitude was horrible. i was turned off by the whole situation. read more

This place is great! The guys are friendly & easy to strike up a convo with. My daughter & I had never ate here before so we decided to try the Sweet Tea Burger. So good! They've got these thinly sliced onions soaked in sweet tea, then battered & fried & they pile those on top of this HUGE burger. We chose to share & the amount of food, even shared, was too much for us to finish. They sell one size drink there, humongous! They also let us sample their baked beans too, my daughter ate them...and she won't eat beans...they were that good. Looking forward to trying something new next time. read more

Great BBQ and hamburgers. They have several different types of tea as well. Friendly people and they have a little indoor seating area. The prices are a little high but the quality is very good. Saw this advertised on tv so I went online to check out the menu and see where it was. Menu was just the type of food we love. We are new to Medford, so we thought we'd check this out for dinner. So glad we did. Although a small place with just limited seating, it wasn't busy. Staff was very friendly and our food came fast. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich and a brisket sandwich, both with fries on the side. BOTH were delicious! Prices were appropriate and reasonable for the food we got. What happened to this place? It used to be one of my favorite places to eat. There's a smell in there now that makes me question the cleanliness of the kitchen. I had my first experience at Sweet Tea Express. On a positive note the portions were large and the staff very nice. I ordered the brisket platter. It comes with a biscuit and beans and one other side, so I tried the sweet tea onion strings. The brisket was shaved paper thin and had no flavor. I didn't order a sandwich, so I was expecting nice slices of meaty brisket. If is wasn't for the sauce it would have absolutely no flavor. No BBQ char, no smoke, nothing. Not even a speck of salt or seasoning of any kind. My husbands pulled pork was a bit better, but not much. Needless to say my BBQ craving has not been satisfied. It's a little hole in the wall building, but as soon as we walked in, we were greeted and handed menus. My wife ordered a cheeseburger and I ordered my free pulled pork. The sandwiches were huge. Ummm, ewwww. Picked it up and first thing we smell what my husband explained, old man with rotten feet, mixed with hospital cafeteria. We ordered the 3 meat meal for 4. Brisket, pulled pork, ribs. Sides were mac and cheese paste, coleslaw, and beans. After getting home and unveiling... wow, kitchen smelled like dog diahrea NO JOKE. We've eaten lunch there, turkey sandwich only but never tried bbq. So giving it a chance ( because we paid 70 dollars) dipped the plastic forks in to try a tiny bite of each. Hoping smell isnt taste. Hubby tried brisket... spit in garbage immediately. Fatty beyond fatty and after putting my nose close, definately rotten. Pulled pork... not too sure. Tangy vinegar weird mush. Ribs.. we r not going there, after looking before trying we looked up a few reviews heard people got sick. Sooo, those go the dogs. ( if they will even eat them. But, dogs like rotten stuff). Beans... just taste like pure mustard, thats it. And the coleslaw, well. Fruit? Cranberry central. More cranberry than slaw! Ok, the mac and cheese. I mean cheese paste? One loaf of starch paste. I was looking forward to a nicely smoked brisket plate for lunch and had heard so much about this place. The brisket is cut and then put on a grill and plastered with catsup and some sort of very sweet BBQ sauce and reheated. It was horrible. Didn't even taste like brisket. What on earth is wrong with just cutting it off the slab and serving it? Why do you have to put all kinds of greasy stuff on it and ruin the flavor by grilling it on a fry grill? Cole slaw was so sweet it could substitute for desert. For me, unedible. read more

I had the sweet tea burger and someone else had the philly steak burger. I ate all of mine, my grandma took half of hers home and I don't think anyone else finished theres just because the serving size was big. cant wait to go back and try the breakfast. This place is a favorite of mine. The other location by the airport is great too. You can text them your order and they'll have it ready when you get there. I've seen some of what people said about the owner. It's true he closed with no notice, but good grief people the economy was sucky. You paint with too broad a brush if you can't see that the man is trying. Speaking just of his business now, the place can't be beat for the quality, service, and price.
