How can I pass something everyday of my life and never go. A place that has a steaming cup of coffee sign in the window. A place with the word SWEET in it. Would I venture out to go to Sweet Tooth if I didn't live in East Cambridge. NO. Will I go here again since I live right near it. Yes. Sweet Touch is an excellent breakfast/brunch/lunch joint. Place your order at the cash register Go sit down. The counter chick will bring you your food. Coffee is decent. I had the tomato and cheese omelette and English Muffin. Expect typical diner food: Eggs, bacon, sausage, sandwiches, pancakes, frenchtoast...... Portion sizes are HUGE. Prices aren't cheap, but don't take my word for it. My cheap is the $1 menu at McDonald's. It is nice to know I have discovered a small breakfast food joint right up the street from me. I feel like I am in an old school diner.... you can see the cook behind the counter cracking the eggs and slapping the bacon on the grill. Sometimes brunch can be cluttered with fancy non-breakfast dishes or ornate titles on otherwise simple dishes. Sweet Touch offers exactly what you are looking for... a cheap simple brunch: eggs, bacon, sausage, homefries, toast, pancakes, omelets, b-fast sandwiches, and coffee. This is a counter-order kind of place, so don't expect table service. It's also quite small inside, so get there early on the weekend to secure yourself a booth. The ambiance is as simple as the dishes they make, and the service is pretty friendly. It took quite a long time for our food to be ready, but from what I hear, it's usually must faster. Though I've never had their breakfast, I've enjoyed lunch here more times than I can count. The restaurant is small and quickly becomes packed during the lunch rush, so it can be hard to grab a table. There's no waiter service. You order, grab the first table you can, and then pick up your food at the counter. After your meal, you're expected to clean up your table for the next person. Great sandwiches and subs (love their meatball sub) and they make excellent french fries - very fresh, crispy, and have little fried bits clinging to them. Yum! This was my last breakfast meal before heading back home. It's a really cute small cafe on the corner street. Lots of people came here and ordered their breakfast. I ordered the poached eggs with bacon, home fries, and toast. Such a simple breakfast but so flavorful here. Everything is made to order and is fresh. It seems like it's not a lot of food from the picture but I couldn't even finish it. It was very filling. Coffee is very good too. Couldn't decide between a 2, 3, or 4... Went with a 4 and here's why: I ordered a veggie roll up, and expected interesting vegetables (roasted peppers or something like that), but the wrap included lettuce, a couple of cucumbers, a little tomato, shredded carrots, and Greek dressing. The ingredients were not evenly distributed along the wrap. The wrap also includes cheese but the hostess forgot to mention the have cheddar. :( That sounds like a two-star description, but wait- it gets better! The vegetables were very fresh and crunchy. So even though the wrap wasn't what I expected, it was still really good. The wrap was not drowning in dressing. There was just the right amount to have the extra flavor in each bite, but keep the vegetables crunchy. When I ordered a wrap, the hostess offered white or wheat without my having to request whole wheat. I came into the restaurant in a hurry and in a really bad mood. I was a bit annoyed about not getting cheddar and only having "rabbit food" in the wrap. However, as I walked down the sidewalk towards the museum of science, I had a chance to enjoy the crisp, fresh vegetables and realize, it isn't their fault Boston is still covered in several feed of snow mid-March. Before I give them a low rating, I need to come back when I am not predisposed to being displeased. My evaluation was, I got something tasty (however more appropriate for summer than winter). Had I not been in a frustrated hurry, I probably could have inspected the menu, asked questions, and ultimately got something I wanted more than a lettuce wrap. Finding a healthy option was easy, especially since the hostess volunteered the whole wheat option for the wrap. However, I need to go back to see if it meets my criteria of "healthy options being just as attractive as the unhealthy options." Sweet Touch Cafe is really close to the museum of science, so I expect I will be back and can update this post accordingly. read more

This is a terrific terrific terrific local breakfast spot. The prices, for this part of the city, can't be beat. You can get a reasonably-sized breakfast for nine dollars, or an extremely good muffin for much less. I can't stress how good the blueberry muffin is at this place. I make sure to get one whenever I go. Be sure to ask for it warmed & with butter. Quick service, and overall a great atmosphere. Only downside is they close fairly early, but the quality of food more than makes up for that. read more

I really like this place. It's an awesome place to grab brunch. My friend and I have wandered in here all times in the morning/early afternoon, and even after "breakfast" hours are over, you can always get a breakfast sandwich - which is mighty tasty. The place is a little tight, but people mill in and out, and you can almost always find a seat/booth, whatever you like. The people here are really nice, the food has been consistently good. I have actually liked what I've eaten here so much, I've branched out and ordered something new each time, which I hardly EVER do. I'm really starting to stack up on four star reviews. On one hand this is a positive, as it means I've been to places that are generally pretty good. On the other hand, though - I wonder if I'm being too soft from time to time. I digress, however. Sweet Touch Cafe deserves the four. The service at Sweet Touch is saccharine, and really makes an early morning visit nice. The employees that deal with customers (most notably the lady at the registers), are of good cheer and seemingly always smiling. At a breakfast place, when people are groggy and still wiping sleep from their eyes, a little good cheer goes a long way. Food is good. The omelette I got was loaded with the good stuff, which seems a rarity nowadays. When I say loaded, I mean loaded. This thing probably weighed 6 lbs, and I couldn't finish it. That said, it wasn't the best omelette I've ever had, overall - but it was VERY well done and quite obviously taken seriously. Sweet Touch also throws a curveball upon entry. From the outside it looks basic and somewhat dull. Inside, though - it's got an aesthetic blend somewhere between a typical take out place and a breakfast cafe. This isn't a mistake, seeing as though those are the two meals which they cater to. It's warm and inviting but it's extremely simple, so while it won't blow anyone away, it won't fail at it's aim, which is to stuff it's patrons. The only other close Breakfast options to Sweet Touch are either down in Inman Square or on First street, so it's got the gap between the two pretty held down. From the service to the food, it does it's job well. It's a more than worthy breakfast joint, and one I'm sure I'll hit up whenever I'm in the area. read more

This place is AWESOME for brunch! My boyfriend and I used to live down the street from this little cafe and we were in there literally every weekend for brunch or to grab a quick egg sandwich. And its very clean! The cafe is run by a very nice family--which you will see EVERY time you go. The wife works the counter and the husband is always in the kitchen. And they will remember your order every time, if you're someone like me who eats the same thing every time : ) You order and pay for your food at the counter and the lady will bring it over to you when its ready! This stuff is the best hangover medicine in the world. READ: Greasy, salty, oversized, solid food. For a breakfast place, I'm not super attached. "World's best ingredients" reads their packaging, but that's a lie. In hindsight, non-hungover, and perhaps less cranky, this food isn't really that good. Hangover medicine rarely is. Looking at these other reviews, I think I should have gotten something different. I got a regular scrambled egg breakfast with bacon, homefries and an english muffin. Homefries were the best thing in the meal, soft and crumbly with just a hint of slightly spicy seasoning. I did also notice for one order of bacon there was A LOT of it. I'm talking 5 or 6 full pieces of bacon. It was cooked crispy and just a little chewy the way I like, so that was appreciated. Scrambled eggs were runny, which I did not appreciate. I rubbernecked someone else's breakfast of french toast and eggs and that looked really good, and I had a bite of a sausage omelette, which seemed a cut above. Huge portions and prices were cheaper than most of the places around that wasn't fast food. Food tasted great. We found this place because we were staying at the hotel a block away and walked past it exploring the neighborhood we were staying in. Only reason for the 4 star is, you order at the counter, you pick up your own food from the counter which we didn't know, as you are ordering your food the guy takes a tip jar and places it front of you. I have only been here in a rush for their breakfast sandwiches so I don't know how it goes for a sit down breakfast /lunch, but friends have said it is good. I have gotten the sausage egg and cheese on an everything bagel. Its really good. Something about it, I think maybe the bagel is different in a good way. The bagels are soft and flavorful. Watched them whip up my eggs fresh of course, and they give a generous sausage patty. The service was quick. If I lived closer I'd probably be fatter. read more

It's more like 3.5 stars, but it's a nice local place and great for what it is, a traditional diner/cafe with decent food (and large portions). The prices are good for what you get, but don't go expecting a beautiful atmosphere and unique or edgy dishes. I've heard that they have really great blueberry muffins, but there were only cornbread left when I went. Apparently it's a cop hangout and this was verified when I walked in and three cops walked in behind me and started to loudly greet their brethren who were sitting and enjoying a good ol' fashioned diner breakfast. Yum! I ventured in here for the first time a few weeks ago when I wanted to try something new for breakfast. I've returned several times since then. I've found the food to be remarkably good, solid fare, and very reasonable prices. It's almost diner-style food - large portions of decent food for a great price. It's not gourmet, but it's definitely satisfying. The staff here are really friendly, too. I saw a lot of regulars coming in and the staff knew 'the usual.' It's got a real neighborhood feel. I think I ordered the wrong thing here. The buffalo chicken roll up sandwich (who calls it that, btw?!!) was OK at best. The portion was a great size for $6,, but I could barely eat it because it was so poorly made. That being said, the spicy fries are amazing and breakfast looked SO good. This place serves the best waffles. We came here this morning for breakfast and the place was packed with all the tables taken. Besides waffles, we also had the mushroom and cheese omelette which was also very good. Served with a side of well toasted wholemeal bread which was well buttered. Coffee here is a little like Dunkin Donuts' (we drink it for the caffeine not the taste) but we didn't come here for the coffee. The service at the counter was efficient and friendly. I was recently here for lunch. I was here more often back in 2014 and 2015, so yes, I've been here more than several times and back again. They have did some remodeling while I was away. New menu by some TV's and granite tables and new chairs. Food is still just as good. I do miss the lunch combo they used to have for a wrap with fries. I usually get the steak tip wrap and spicy fries. Today, I order from the lunch combo with Steak and cheese and..you know it...spicy fries. It is not all that spicy, just good amount of cajun (I think) seasoning. The sub roll was soft and not chewy or stale like some. wish there was more cheese, but still good. The takeout was so full it barely closed, but they package it nicely in a paper bag. Still hot when I got to the office which is 10mins away. They have good breakfast as well that is served all day. This place was just what my family and I were looking for. Large menu, large portions and REALLY good food! We came for lunch when we arrived in Cambridge (we were staying at the Hampton Inn, right around the corner). Since I started working in the area almost 7 years ago I've been picking up my lunch at Sweet Touch about once a week, and I have never been disappointed in anything I've ordered. Great sandwiches and salads, LOVE the quesadillas, and the staff is always friendly. Today, though, I had an especially delicious steak tip salad that deserves a Yelp 5-star review. The salad veggies were incredibly fresh and crispy, and the steak tips were perfect and plentiful. Breakfast. Some say it's the most important meal of the day. While I'm not sure if the staff at Sweet Touch agrees with that age old saying, they sure as heck know how to prepare the first meal of the day. I myself usually settle with an egg sandwich on an everything bagel and a coffee. However, they also dish up a great pancake as well as a pretty diesel omelet. Not only is Sweet Touch kind to the stomach, but to the wallet as well. An egg sandwich will only run you about 3 or 4 dollars. A bargain for the struggling artist type like myself. The service here is always great, kind, and patient, even during the 1pm rush of lunch goers. They are seemingly always in good spirits, greet you with a smile, and are willing to give that extra effort to make your meal that much more enjoyable. OBSESSED! I live right around the corner and we always go on Saturday mornings in our PJs! You get so much food for breakfast for like $6. I've tried the egg and cheese sandwich on a croissant with a huge side of homefries and it is delicious. I've also gotten eggs, and a belgian waffel with whipped cream and strawberries on top. Everything is served on a big plate and there are plenty of tables to sit at. They make your food fast and give you a lot. The coffee is really good too. They have huge muffins and a good selection of bagels. I mostly do breakfast but I've tried lunch too. I got a philly cheese steak sub and it was HUGE! Again, you get a lot for your money. The service is great here. Rita is always working and she even greets me by my name and remembers how I like my iced coffee, and starts making it as soon as she sees me come in! I walk by Sweet Touch to get to the T on my way to work every morning, and I find it hard to not get a coffee before jumping on the train. I love Sweet Touch on a weekend morning after a great night. The food is really good and always hits the spot. Not gourmet by any means, but great food. I have loved all the items I have tried on the menu. cons: not open on Sunday, they gave me a hard time about ordering lunch on the weekend ( said it was only a weekday thing) but i have seen people order off the lunch menu, they give you a very small amount of home fries. read more

Sweet Touch has great food and service! I am a fan of their corned beef hash breakfast special. Their home fries has great seasoning and they have great combo specials. My only complaint is that their pancakes aren't very fluffy and can be a bit dry due to their thinness. read more
