Lemon Shrimp, Sauted Organic Sweet Corn, D-Geezy's Mac N Cheesy

Food was absolutely spectacular, and the service was great, the workers were very friendly. The atmosphere was very nice as well, outdoors, but plenty of shade and seating. Even though it is a little out of the way of the riverwalk i'd definitely recommend this spot.

The best salad I've ever had. Please support what might be the freshest spot in San Antonio. Outstanding.

Patio seating

Wow this place is so good! They are so accommodating to dietary restrictions like celiac. Although it seems like most people take their food to go, they have a nice patio area you can sit in if you clean up after yourself. We got the Mac and cheese with chicken on top and the cashiers request and wow was it good! We certainly plan to come back.

Vegan chili and rice okay... raw spices that hadn't been cooked out. Mac and cheese were good. The greens were lacking flavor and spice. The sweet potato cupcake was the best thing we ate. Not to sweet but really moist and tasty. Service? You order at a window and you go back to grab the food when they call your name. Outdoor seating and they ask you to clear your table. I will always tip and don't mind doing so but this is probably hard for many to understand when service is self service on every level. The parking was difficult and it's summer so if you enjoy the heat then sitting out it's fine. I really do try to support local and I love vegetarian food but this was a miss for me. Maybe I went on an off day but there were too many factors involved to make me think about giving it another chance.

I was visiting San Antonio for the day and I needed something quick to eat before heading back to the Buena Vista Theater. A quick search on Yelp led me to Sweet Yams. This Black owned restaurant offers vegetarian and gluten free options so I was sold. I ordered the bbq salmon and brown rice online and within 7 mins, I got the alert that my food was ready. I drove over there and parked in their parking lot (it's limited). There's plenty of seating as you walk in, which is technically a covered patio so there's no AC. I went up to the window and picked up my food. It was a decent serving size for the price point ($16). I do wish they had fresh juices for purchase besides the ones offered in the program. Nevertheless, the food was good but nothing extraordinary.

The food at Sweet Yams is so delicious you will wonder if it's as good for you as advertised! I was so blown away by the flavor, seasoning, and moisture in everything that I went back to read the menu again just to be sure. I am also so happy that they are delivering through Favor so that I can order for lunch while at work. The food came hot and fresh and it was so good that I ordered again for dinner! The delivery service as always was great! If you have not tried this family owned, good for your soul restaurant I suggest you run there now!

Super underrated! Wish it wasn't so hidden so other people can know about it, truly a hidden gem! The food is absolutely amazing and filling! I felt Noo crash after! Even with eating desert! The desert was amazing! Anything here is amazing and the ambiance is soo cute! The service was absolutely amazing!! Truly will be stopping by more often!

I had a health-conscious friend recommend this place back in 2017, so my friend and i tried it and it was some of the best food I'd ever had. I got the gumbo and sweet potato pie, and it left me full in the most nourishing way, the kind of full where you are satiated but not weighed down. It's been almost a decade since I've been to San Antonio and the memory of it has stuck powerfully, from the food to the ambience to the story it all just stuck with me. So today I brought my girlfriend, and I was nervous it wouldn't live up to my memory, but it not only lived up to the memory it exceeded it... Simple, healthy, flavor packed meals that make for an almost emotional flavor experience. This is food that inspires.

Came here on our visit to San Antonio. It was a cute little restaurant with outdoor seating. It felt very home-y. I ordered the blackened chicken with lemon garlic. The ingredients tasted very fresh, but the sauce was a bit salty for my preference. Portions were alright for the price. The outdoor seating can get a bit warm but there was working fans. The only thing that threw me off was they had supplies out for us with a sign asking us to clean the tables ourselves after eating. Only had a spray but nothing to wipe the table with.

GAME CHANGER! When…read moreI visit San Antonio Plantaqueria is an absolute must. I'm taken aback every time I walk into to this wonderfully positioned taqueria in downtown steps from the River Walk. The smells, the feels, the sounds- it'll set your senses on fire. It's ambience is nothing short of walking the streets of Mexico and stumbling across the best local food find there is- it's your lucky day. It doesn't end there, because I have yet to discuss the flavors that this place dishes out. If you can imagine that other taquerias in town as as good as mamma's cooking, Plantaqueria is grandma's cooking saying, " I taught them everything they know." The counter service, decor and neon lights transport you to a pueblo that you probably have no business being in but were fortunate enough to get lost in. I feel that the people working to advance this visionary concept are in love with what they do because you get that experience with every bite of fresh, homemade goodness, weather you dine in or take/order out. Dude, fresh corn and flour tortillas, C'mon, man!! And speaking of vision, the owner, Sofia, who looks like she would get IDd at a bar has created something truly unique and incredibly delicious. Plantaqueria has revolutionized modern, classical Mexican street cuisine. It's open 7am-7pm so you can literally have this all day and you might wish you did. Y'all need to get you some, and don't thank me, thank the purveyors of this Alamo City gem. P.s. I've brought my mom in to eat this stuff and she totally agrees!

(It had Just Egg but I think other things added with it. It felt that it was softer and lighter than if it was only Just Egg) and pico de gallo on handmade flour tortilla. We were surprised by how much we enjoyed it. Their two self-serve complementary salsas were also fun and creamy. Concha- Delicious and we liked the top of it. Maybe one of our favorite conchas. Elote hot cake - Came out really hot and was delicious. These are only available on weekends. I was tempted to get more but we had lots more food targets on the schedule. Torta with Asada was pretty good too. But the other items excited me more I think. The person at the front also gave us some samples of other taco fillings to try: the fillings of the La Ranchera: Potatoes and pico de gallo in salsa ranchera and also grilled nopales. My husband who is usually not as crazy as me about nopales liked them here. They have mole on the weekends but it's not housemade from scratch. They use premade mole and add some more things to it so we skipped that one. My general rating system: 1 star: I would stay away 2 stars: Has some good things about it but I generally don't recommend. 3 stars: Pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to go back but a decent place 4 stars: Great place. I would go back. 5 stars: I highly recommend stopping whatever you are doing and making plans to try it out! An Evie favorite!

At first it did take me a moment to find the place as the building itself doesn't say the restaurant name (written on a chalk board) but thankfully found it and came at a time when it wasnt crowded. Inside definitely doesn't give restaurant vibes. It gives more of a home vibe and has alot of board games and crayons/paints you can do. Also they have a game console in the back which is pretty cool if you like playing Mario cart. It did seem a bit dark inside as not much lights were on but once sun came out was able to see. The guy that took our order was very nice and helped us understand some of the items on the menu. He even gave us a discount for being first time customers which I appreciated. It take take some time to get our food but when we did it was all fresh and hot. We had ordered a few tacos. My brother had the phish tacos and they were actually pretty good. It almost tasted like real fish and definitely would consider getting the next time I visit. They also have us some salsa which was also delicious and tasted great with all our tacos. I did like the potato and egg I had too. It did throw me off when I tasted it with corn tortilla but it was still good. I prefer potato and egg over the bean and cheese but that's just my preference. I did order the pozole soup with jack fruit and tasted pretty good. It looked really pretty and alot of good stuff in the soup. I do feel it needed some more lime or something else but it was good regardless. Overall it was a better experience than I expected and my family even said they would consider coming back here. Can be pricy depending what you order but worth a try at least once. Another good vegan restaurant.

I'm not vegan or vegetarian, and usually I leave places like this wishing I had just ordered a burger somewhere else. But this place completely flipped that expectation on its head. First off, the menu is surprisingly comforting. It's not trying to be overly fancy or obscure--it's familiar food, just done plant-based. With friendly service and a warm smile serving up delicious food. What really stood out is that nothing felt like a compromise. A lot of vegan spots lean heavily on the idea that you'll enjoy it because it's vegan. Here, it just tastes good--period. Even the sides, like the mac and cheese and mashed potatoes, had that rich, satisfying quality you'd expect from traditional comfort food. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, not preachy or intimidating. Whether you're fully plant-based or just someone curious (or skeptical, like I was), it feels like a place where you can relax and just enjoy your meal without overthinking it. By the time I left, I wasn't thinking "that was good for vegan food"--I was just thinking "that was really good food." And honestly, that's probably the highest compliment I can give. I'd go back without hesitation, and not just when I'm trying to eat "healthier."
