We invited my family to come up and visit Sweet Peas for dinner & check out the live band we had a group of 10 and we all very much enjoyed our visit here. Most of us got the grilled chicken very good, my husband got the whole catfish very good, my mother got the Paw Paw Special I tried some so good I would go back just for that and my brother got the hamburger steak nothing was left on his plate it was served with grilled onions & brown gravy he also tried the chocolate pie very good. The only complaint I have well there's two actually the sweet tea wasn't very good & the sides were cold if you want a hot potato order the baked potato the mashed are probably instant and have been sitting awhile next time I will get a side salad & bake potato but the grilled chicken was freshly grilled & very flavorful. The band was very pleasant not to loud & played songs most of us knew. The staff was friendly and very pleasant. Sweet peas table will definitely be a family favorite for future gatherings read more

This has quickly become a lunch-break favorite for me. I first heard about this place from a friend of mine who's lived around here for some time now, and one day realized it was right by where I worked. I came here for their lunch special to go and got the chicken-fried steak, cream corn, mac and cheese, and hush puppies. All of this was less than $10 including tax. All of their food was good and plentiful, and stayed true to good southern cookin'. I came here a week later with the girlfriend during lunch hour and enjoyed excellent food (although I would opt to switch out their mac and cheese next time) and excellent service. They have friendly service, cozy ambiance, good food, hearty portions, and good prices. What more could you possibly want? Strongly recommended! read more

We eat here occasionally. We have always had great food and service. Our last time was one exception. Our food took forever and I don't think mine was cooked enuf. It will not keep me from going back again though. I think it was a one time thing. They do not have a kid's veggie plate which is surprising in a place like this. Not as good as it was in the past. Both of our glasses had a variety of chips at the top of the glass, one plate had a chip on it as well. The grilled chicken was half the size it was in the past and overly seasoned, way to much salt. I loved the food at the older place and the prices were excellent. Had been wanting to try this place for sometime so I went one day on my way thru Olive Branch. Extremely dissatisfied! Service was not good, server didn't bring me a refill until I was ready to leave, I will say that my food came out very quick but did not care for it. Went there for dinner last night wanting some good southern food. Typical old fashioned southern diner. They also had live music, country, which added this ambience. Staff is very friendly, family atmosphere. The fried green tomatoes very excellent and should not be missed, if available. I had the Chicken Fried Steak, which was certainly good but nothing outstanding. The same goes for the mashed potatoes and fried okra. My husband wanted the whole catfish but unfortunately they were already out of it. So he tried several sides and the peas were excellent. The cornbread was a different style then what I am used to, which was interesting, but unfortunately it didn't have much flavor. My husband and I shared the Coconut pie, which was very different too. We were at the new location this weekend and were very impressed. After being seated, our usual server Cheryl immediately greeted us. She is always very sweet and friendly. The food was a little slow coming out but considering they were packed it was good. My only problem was the food isn't really hot. Warm, but not hot. They even have some new menu items. We tried the boom boom shrimp which I never really considered 'southern food' but it was good. I ordered the pork cutlett with brown gravy and hubby got the hamburger steak. He said his was very juicy and tasteful and my cutlet was amazing! Veggies were also very tasty. My mac & cheese was to die for! Hubby loved the greens! If your idea of a great meal is fried country cooking, then you will love it. If you want something healthy don't go here. There are fried potato sticks on the iceberg salad. The potato soup was made w velveeta cheese and inedible. However, my son's hamburger was great- good meat, and freshly made. My husband's fried chicken strips and hush puppies were good too. But, I really wanted fresh and healthy vegetables- most items on the veggie plate were fried so I chose soup and salad and was sadly disappointed. I so wish I could give this place 10 stars! We ate here a few nights ago, and it taught me a huge lesson in judging a book by it's cover. Yes, when you drive up, it appears to be located in an abandoned Fred's Friendly Dollar strip mall, and yes, when you walked in it slightly resembles a nursing home mess hall, but the smell of the food when you open the door is like "hey, grandma is cooking something yummy!" The staff was super friendly. We ordered a ton of food for our family of 7. The hush puppies are phenomenal. My husband had the hamburger steak. It was huge! I ordered the grilled pasta alfredo. Again, the portion size was gigantic. Our 5 kids ordered off the kids menu, and a couple of our children are picky eaters. Not here! Absolutely everything is hand made. The okra are breaded there. You can absolutely taste the difference. Our waitress was so friendly, and my kids even commented on how nice she was to us. We are new to the area, and wanted more tonight, but sadly they are closed on Monday. There's always tomorrow! If you don't try this place, you are missing out. read more
