Was looking for donuts and this place was highly rated. The donuts are ok, they're on the dry and bland side. The large apple fritter looked appealing but was mediocre. The glazed donut tasted stale and the glaze was melted/soaked into the donut, very unappetizing. We gave them a 2nd try a few weeks later and they were still stale/dry. The donuts are decent but they really aren't that great, they're nothing special. The prices are way too high for what you get. They're Meijer quality donuts for WAY more. The only bonus above Meijer is there's more variety, but that doesn't make up for the price. I think people only love this place because they feel like they're supposed to love it. read more

This is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so solves a problem if you need coffee and a pick me up sugary treat at an odd time. The national recognition these donuts is well deserved. There is a huge selection of freshly made delights to those from. The place had an army of what looked like high school students hopping to get their jobs done at 6:45 am Sunday morning. Consistency seems to be the biggest problem Sweetwater's has. Often times, we'll stop for a donut after visiting the chiropractor--sometimes thedonuts are fresh and delicious! A true 5* donut. Other times, we go in and get a stale, flat hard donut. A true 1* donut. Shelves should be checked regularly. Donuts are only fresh for so long and then they become flat and greasy rather than delicious. I know Covid has made staffing difficult, but this is something that should be a priority--producing and serving quality donuts. read more

I see someone gave this amazing DONUT shop a 3 star review because their COFFEE wasn't up to their Starbucks standards. Imagine hurting a small town stores rep over something as silly as that. The service was great. Walked in and was greeted helped right away. I hate being around people( because they do idiotic things like leave 3 star reviews because coffee at a donut shop) so I didn't go and overly inspect the store, but it looked nice and clean from what I could see. But truly, these donuts are amazing. I bought 3 because I can normally easily handle that. These things are HUGE! 3 monstrous donuts for less than 5 bucks. Not your run of the mill donut shop. Many employees all eagerly awaiting to help us. The blueberry muffins had just come fresh out of the oven. The fritters are quite literally the size of your head. The donut selection is huge and very affordable for how big/how many ingredients they contain. I was very disappointed in their coffee selection. They had black coffee & a cappuccino. I ordered the cappuccino only to find out it came out of a machine like a gas station cappuccino. They have syrups and creamers to make your own flavored drinks but it's all self service. Old school donut shop minus the full service ...and good donuts. back in the day there were lots of places where you could pull up a seat at the counter and get a donut-n-coffee. Most of those shops have disappeared and been replaced by corporate chains that make their donuts in distribution centers. From the outside Sweetwater Donut Mill looked to be a welcome blast from the past. Alas, it did not quite measure up. They had an impressive array of donuts in a big glass case behind the register - and that's where you have to place your order. That was a little disappointing. They don't wait on you at the counter - you have to collect your order at the register and then go sit . As for the donut quality - I got one with some kind of Irish Creme mint topping which I burped up for the next 4 hours. And the Apple Crumb donut I got was stale. So...uh...not good. They do seem to have a healthy crowd of regulars so its possible I just picked badly. But ultimately I didn't find it to be any more worthwhile than the aforementioned chain places. read more

Idk if it was an off day or bc we came in the evening but I was not impressed. I thought the fritter I had at the Battle Creek location was the best I've ever had but these were just as big but fewer nooks and crannies and less crispy outside like we like. Cake donuts were dry. Wouldn't get them again. The apple crumb was very tasty and I would still stop in the area for the raspberry fritter but I wouldn't make a special trip for how they were yesterday. read more

I used to love this donut shop and don't get me wrong they're still really good (the yeast donuts), but my usual favorite 'the Homer Simpson' has had some poor changes made to it. The last several times I've had it, and this is spread out over maybe 6 months, the glaze has been completely different. What used to be nice yummy thick glazed icing has been changed to a really thin dark pink glaze that looks watered down. It's so thin it crumbles and cracks off the top of the donut as you try to hold it or pick it up. Really poor decision to change that as it was a signature donut & I hope they fix it. read more

In the words of Homer Simpson, mmmmmm....donuts.  No matter which location you go to, Sweetwater doughnuts is the right choice when in Kalamazoo and it would be a tragity to miss out.  Both locations are great so just go the whichever is closest. I love their limited time doughnuts and basically any doughnut involving peanut butter.  On my last visit (October 20th) they had cereal inspired Boo-berry doughnuts which were amazing.  The first doughnut I ever got at Sweetwater was a reese cake doughnut with a peanut butter whip and pieces of reese on top. Over the years they have made various different reese doughnuts and I always enjoyed them all.  I will definitely continue coming to Sweetwater. read more

These donuts are pretty legit. There is a great variety of flavors and styles (traditional, cake, holes, specialty), and everything we tried was delicious. The donuts are probably close to a 5/5, but the atmosphere is a 2 or 3 (dated decor and paint). If some attention went into the interior, this place could be a serious destination. Donut worry, I will leave this review. I mean how many places can you say are open 24 hours and are donut places? Whether you are getting a donut in the morning before school or work, in the afternoon for lunch or 4am after a fun Friday or Saturday night. This is the place to go. I love the Chocolate Glaze Ring. I love the yeast donuts the best! I am slowly moving away from cake donuts in general, and I am finding more and more types of yeast donuts at Sweetwaters. I feel in love with Sweetwater's at the Donut and Beer fest and now that I live in Kalamazoo. I like to make my way there from time to time. The only negative thing about the yeast donuts is sometimes the jelly-filled or frosting filled ones make the bottom soggy because of the thinness between the filling and the bottom layer of the donut. It is mainly on where they fill the donuts and the bottom layer. It is not the worst thing but it can be if you are getting 6 to share for later. It can lead to being soggy. Overall: I give this place 4 stars and will be back for sure. Because I love donuts and Sweetwaters. read more

Cool flavors include a plethora of candy bar tastes - Carmello (Nomz), Reese's (Double Nomz), Mounds, Snickers and more. My personal favorite of my trip was the Grasshopper - mint frosting drizzled with chocolate on a chocolate cake donut. One donut is 94 cents...a dozen is $7.89.
