I landed in this office by chance but am sticking with them by choice. I recently hurt my back to the point of not being able to walk. When I called Swendsen they were able to make room for me in their schedule the next day. They had me get x-rays before making any adjustments, but were able to do it all within the same day. I am feeling better than I was before throwing my back out. I've reached my visit limit though my insurance, however their adjustment appointments are still affordable, so I will continue to see them for maintenance. I'd recommend them to anyone! read more

This is by far the worst chiropractic AND billing experience that I have endured in the last 10 years receiving chiropractic services. My regular chiropractor was out of town, so I scheduled an appointment over the phone. The receptionist said that my insurance information looked good, and I made an appointment within a 15-20 minute phone call (too long for making an appointment IMO). When I arrived for my appointment, they told me that my primary insurance actually was NOT accepted at Swendsen, though they had accepted it until April 2019. They also required me to get X-Rays prior to being examined.I said that I did not want X-Rays, but they told me that they would not touch my back without first looking at an X-Ray. Because I was in extreme pain and did not see an alternative, I accepted. By this time, I had already been crying in their office for over half an hour. After standing painfully for X-rays to be taken, another receptionist ran through the cost of the appointment with me - again, prior to any help with my back. She told me that the appointment would cost $250 because my insurance would not kick in for the first appointment. I found this unusual and disappointing, but I agreed because I had no alternative. Today, I received another bill for $800, which they did not disclose to me at the time of my appointment, though I asked repeatedly if there would be other charges (they said no). Additionally, when I was adjusted at Swendsen, they charged $39 PER TOUCH on my back, which they also did not disclose when describing the billing. Since being adjusted, I have had new back pains and an increase in my daily pain. I was manipulated and lied to by this chiropractic clinic. They may tell you that their practices are either standard or "better" than other chiropractors, but this is not true. Their treatment of patients is lacking, and their billing is shady and crooked. Please do not support this business. read more

I have been going here for years. I was skeptical about chiropractic help with my body pain for years, but when I dislocated 3 ribs this clinic was there to help! Every visit is always quick and easy, and the staff are always inviting and friendly! My mom recommended me to Swendsen and she loves it here as well. Super thankful for what this clinic has done for my family's health and I would 110% recommend this clinic to anyone. They are also very knowledgeable about chiropractic and how it will help you specifically. They first take X-rays of your spine for every new patient and then create a plan for how to adjust your body specifically. They can point out exact areas that need adjustment and inform you on how they're going to fix the area, and how long it will take you to see better performance results. I first saw the doctors on July 11. Actually I could barely walk into their clinic, my pain level was 95 out of 100. I couldn't even walk up any stairs. When I got to the office they saw my pain, and immediately got me back, took X-Rays and did their evaluation, and then they treated me. With one adjustment my pain level went down to 25, and I actually walked out of their. I have been doing so much better ever since. The BEST chiropractor ever!!! Ive seen several other chiropractors but Dr. Justin takes the cake! I'm a very difficult person to adjust and Dr. Justin had no problem in doing so. He knew exactly where I was out of alignment before I ever said anything to him and he personalizes my care just for me. He actually told me that my other chiro was adjusting me too much - since I've been treating with Dr. Justin I am no longer hyper-mobile. He has taught me so much about fitness and staying healthy as well. I've lost 43 lbs thanks to his fitness help! I went to the ER on a Sunday in August, 2017. After some testing they told me that I slipped my L5 disc and had a previously healed compression fracture at my T12. I couldn't walk, stand or stretch my leg straight. I was in an immense amount of pain so the doctors recommended I start seeing a chiropractor. I went to Swendsen on a recommendation. I have never been to a chiropractor before so I did not know what to expect. I easily made my first appointment with some very helpful and knowledgeable staff. I arrived for my first appointment that same week. There was plenty of parking and the office was easy to find. I walked in and checked in easily. They took my insurance no problem and the entire staff was amazing. They explained the process every step of the way from why I needed x-rays to what the results showed to their plan to make me better. From the first visit I started feeling better and more like myself. I worked with both of the brothers and they both were amazing! I can not say enough good things about the staff, the office, the results and the help over the next few weeks. They don't just work on you, they explain what part they are working on and why. Just a few weeks ago I had lower back, neck and hip pain that effected every part of my day. Routine tasks were overshadowed with terrible discomfort. I am a desk worker and have been for the past 34 years. All of that time, coupled with less than ideal posture, PC work, etc. resulted in severe neck issues and a problem with my hip. I began seeing both Doctors Tuttle and Bergstrom and found immediate relief in the neck. I stayed with the prescribed plan to stabilize the neck and work on my hip. I am SO glad that I did! I'm super happy that I chose to come here to try & get some pain releif for my low back pain. My low back & hip started hurting this last year. I'm 35 & healthy normally & assumed in time the pain would just go away not knowing why it even started hurting in the first place. However, not the case. 6months later I was in so much pain constantly. Icing at night, trying heat, no releif. So I Went to my PCP & of course no answers. My dr. Recommended physical therapy. I asked to see a chiropractor also thinking between the 3 of them, I might get some answers & some releif Long story short, Dr. Swendsen office was my next stop. They took lots of x-rays, thoroughly reviewed them with me, & started treatment same day. When I left this office on my first visit, my pain went from an 8-9 down to a 2 immediately. I seriously never expected this to help so much & so fast. I've only had 3 visits so far & I'm feeling like my normal self able to function fully in hardly any pain most of the time. I'm so impressed & happy. It's just AMAZING!! I'm confident as I continue my treatment plan, I will just continue to improve. I'm so thankful. I'm a busy mom & need to stay healthy. These doctors are taking good care of me, so I can continue taking care of my family. Stay away from this place if you're going to be paying out of pocket (without insurance)!! I made an appointment about 2 months ago for an adjustment because I've been having crippling migraines and thought a chiropractor might help. I get to the desk that morning 30 minutes before my appointment to fill out the paperwork, and I explain to the receptionist what's going on and how I'll be paying. She tells me that this appointment would be upwards of $400 for xrays and adjustment. I gulped and said okay, this must be what other people do for their chiropractors too!! I begin to fill out the paperwork and have to leave because I didn't think my card would go through. I explain again to the receptionist and tell her thank you no thank you. She insists on seeing my out-of-State insurance card, and frowns and goes, "I don't know what this is. Do you know what this is?" Looks at me and then looks at the other receptionist. Making me feel very embarrassed at my blue cross/blue shield insurance and how it wouldn't cover my chiropractor. I just snatch it back from her and reschedule my appointment, only to cancel it when they call to confirm. You guys need more understanding front desk people. read more

I have a 10 month old and I've been going to them since he was an infant. He's always with me and they are so understanding and sweet. When I came in the first time, I could barely move my neck to look at people because it was so sore and I hadn't seen a chiropractor in years. Even after the first adjustment I felt better, but now after months of going to them I feel amazing in comparison to how I felt before going. They are very professional and thorough. Because I have a baby and a full time job it's hard for me to get in on a regular schedule, and they never pressure me or make me feel bad for coming in very sporadically. I just had my first appointment this morning with this office. I tried them out after looking at reviews on Yelp. I had been going to another doctor, and I wanted a second opinion. My first appointment was very lengthy, but they are extremely thorough! I first talked with their assistant for about 15-20 minutes. She took time to tell me what to expect, and educated me a bit on chiropractic treatment, and the effects of not being in line. I then met with Dr. J for an exam. He measured my flexibility, and measured the muscles in my back. After that, Dr. Swendsen came in to talk to me about what was going to happen with my treatment. I then went in for many X rays. After all of that, I met again with Dr. Swendsen for a minor adjustment. The equipment they have makes the adjustment very comfortable, and gentle. The office seems very up to date with the best equipment, and also modern technology as far as swiping a patient card to check in for your appointment. The office was clean and professional. From the first call I had made to try and set up an appointment, the staff was beyond genuinely friendly, and knowledgeable. They did not rush through any phone calls, and wanted me to be very informed. This was also consistent with everyone in the office. I had spoken with 5 different employees while I was there, and they were all friendly and courteous. My first appointment took 2 hours, but I am told that the follow ups should be really quick once they have a treatment plan, and can go over the x rays. After my first appointment, I already felt immediate relief, unlike the outcomes from the last doctor I saw. I would highly recommend this office. read more

That being said, I've been meaning to write this one for awhile and now is the time; frankly it's a long overdue review. When we moved from Georgia to Puyallup I left behind and amazing Chiro and staff who felt like family; I was afraid I wouldn't find that here. Luck of the draw, I landed here at Swendsen and I am so thrilled that I did. The day I came in, Tonya got me set up right away with X-rays, this was just coming in as a walk in to see if they had openings. The doctors here are phenomenal, you work with all of them so in a way you get three different types of care, but it is all consistently great. The office staff is absolutely amazing and they go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and less stressed about any situation. All of the staff are absolute sweethearts and it will break my heart when I have to leave. This office bends over backward to see that you are healthy and happy and that you feel at home. Swendsen Chiropractic is such an awesome office. The staff is knowledgeable and the Chiropractors are awesome. If you have never been to a chiropractor you need to try Swendsen Chiropractic. I've been going to them for a few years now. If I wake up in pain I go in and get my adjustment and feel better sometimes it takes a few times before I'm back to where I was before, but I always walk out feeling better than when I went in. I was in severe pain for weeks prior to finally giving in to chiropractic care. My lower back and hips were so messed up that I had reduced mobility and extreme pain if I stood or sat for longer than 15 minutes. Dr Justin took care of me right away. He collected x-rays and did my very first adjustment and I've been hooked ever since. It's been over a month and I feel back to my normal self. Dr Justin has given me effective stretches & ice/heat treatment instructions that have greatly helped my condition. The most surprising part of his care that I did not receive from my previous chiropractor was his attention to stretching my muscles while I'm in the office and really working out deep hard knots to help relax my body after adjustments. Dr Justin has amazing bedside manner to boot and I could chat with him about anything. He has never rushed me through my appointment and he is attentive to what needs to be done. Was pleased with the service my first couple visits was there because of my pregnancy pain. Then I got rear-ended and they didn't want to see me as a pregnancy patient and wanted me to go under my insurance for the rear-ended accident but nothing was even filed under the accident since it was so minor and less than 5 mph in a parking lot. Tonya cut all communications with me even though she knew I was eight months pregnant and really need to be adjusted she stopped responding to all my emails. She didn't seem to care about servicing me as a patient anymore since I didn't go through my health care insurance she was more concerned about their side of the business instead of patient care. I was extremely disappointed. I finally was in so much pain that I called the billing coordinator their inch since I didn't file anything for the car accident she said to come in as a pregnancy patient and let me come in for a visit but when I got there they were still debating whether they could take me as a patient or not. They didn't seem concerned about my health or any pain I was experiencing now being nine months pregnant. I have since now switched chiropractic offices to get more supportive care post pregnancy since I have excruciating sciatic pain which could've been prevented if the staff at Swendsen would have continued my care when I requested. I blame them for not caring for a patient needs over insurance. I will not recommend anyone to go to this office. Was very disappointed. This pain could've been prevented if it wasn't for the misleading information from staff. It seemed like Tonya just wanted me to disappear as a patient and didn't care to get back to me even though she knew how much I wanted to be adjusted and how uncomfortable I was. Wish I went to a different chiropractic clinic when she first stopped communication with me because at this point I can't even get up from the floor without assistant. read more

Dr. Bergstrom is an exceptional chiropractor who is extremely knowledgeable and great with my whole family! I have gotten relief from chronic neck and back pain, and I have seen a huge difference in my kids after each adjustment, especially in growth. I met Dr Justin Bergstrom at the office i work out now, I had the pleasure and opportunity to getting to know him as a chiropractor and a friend. He does excellent work as a chiropractor he cares about you getting better and makes u feel 100% not only is he a good chiropractor he is very friendly and out going and makes you fell welcomed. At first i was scared to get adjusted do to another Chiropractic doctor that messed me up pretty bad but Dr Justin took the time to talk to me about it and was very slow w the process with me when he first adjusted me.
