This establishment is a joke. I ordered a grilled cheese with a side of hair I guess! Once I have already ate that said grilled cheese I saw the hair and almost gagged. Now that being said I'm an understanding person. So I gave them a second chance. Waited another 30 minutes for one of their track star employees to get me another grilled cheese, but they were sprinting too fast and ignored me. A joke. I was in the neighborhood and noticed the new Swenson's. I hadn't had a meal at a Swensons in a good 10 years, so I decided to give it a try. The Green Road Swensons is prettier than the usual restaurant but it is still the same format - strictly drive-in. There's no inside place to eat. You simply pull into a parking space, turn your lights on, and wait for an employee to come out to take your order. The thing is, that assumption is that you are familiar with the restaurant and its offerings. If you don't park right up against the building, you will either have to strain your eyes or go to the website to see the menu. The menu is simple, old-fashioned diner fare, with their "Galley Boy" burger the star. They also have both grilled and fried chicken sandwiches and a chicken strips dinner. There's a lot of home-y fare amongst their sandwiches, including sloppy joe's, fried bologna, egg salad, BLTs, and the like. Also different varieties of things they call "crispy extras", including fried zucchini and fried mushrooms, a few different variations on potatoes, and onion rings. There's soup and chili, too. The first time I tried them, admittedly a while ago, I wasn't very impressed, so I was hoping for a better experience this time around. I decided to take a different route and try one of the non-burger sandwiches and settled on the pulled pork, along with onion rings. It arrived hot and tasty, but waaaaay to much salt. It tasted terrific for the first few bites, but after that, the salty taste became overwhelming and I couldn't finish it. The onion rings, and the other hand, were perfect, hot, crispy, golden brown, with sweet and tender onions. If you like onion rings, you will love these. The service was very good- fast, efficient and friendly. My only wish there is that they still brought your food out on a tray (am I dating myself here? lol!), as it would be nice to have a place other than the car seat to put your bag, in case of spills. So this is a recommendation with some reservations. I will give it another try myself and update if things are any different. read more

The best Swenson's I've been to in every aspect. Brian our server was amazing and the food presentation was way better than the usual still addictively delicious mess. I would have loved to have written a good review here, but considering I waited for 30 minutes with no service, I left before ordering. It was only later on that I learned you had to have your lights on for someone to come take your order. At the Willoughby store, 'Lights on for Service' appears on the sides of the building, but not on the front of the building ( where I was parked). Call me dumb, but being my first time eating at a Swensons, I was not aware that you had to have your lights on to have your order taken. Anyone looking at the front of the building can attest you cannot see that phrase anywhere. I know it seems silly to say, but I drove 30 minutes to get a meal that I ultimately passed on, because it was assumed by the building's architects that everyone in America knows to put their lights on when they want to order there. Sorry, but I guess we dummies who don't know that, don't deserve service or an explanation. Thankfully, 5 Guys doesn't need an explanation to get service. Hopefully this helps at least one hungry person sitting in the parking lot who is being ignored. read more

waited almost 20 minutes for the wrong order to be delivered to our vehicle. sat right up front and watched our order being delivered to wrong car, they had it for a few minutes called waiter back to car and gave bag back. He took it inside and they dumped it out of bag on counter like garbage. picked through it put it back in bag and brought it out to us after we sat there and watched this. My husband said this was delivered to wrong car they said they remade it and he gave it back to waiter and said he wanted his money back since they made us pay for it ahead of time. We won't go back. My husband and I were excited to try this place when they built one in our area. Went for dinner tonight and the food was terrible. It was so bad we didn't even finish our meal. The fries are awful! Mushy and low quality. The two sauces were disgusting. Tartar and bbq yuck. Who's bad idea was that. Bun was stale. Milkshake was way too sweet. Service was sad. You sit in your car and they bring the food to you in a greasy bag. No tray or anything a real carhop would have. Never again. I haven't been to a Swenson's since I was a kid and today I stopped in. All of my great childhood memories were crushed. The food was horrible! My fries seemed like they were reheated and were still only lukewarm. My burger looked like someone stepped on it and crushed it and also tasted like it was reheated or microwaved. The only good thing about my visit was the server Yvette. She was out to me quickly and was very kind and friendly! Wish the people making the food were as professional as she was! one of my boyfriend and mine's favorite spots to eat! the food is always very good and hot when it's brought out to us. the service is normally quick depending on what day and time you go (usually longer on the weekends evenings/nights which is understandable). the staff is always friendly and helpful too! i definitely recommend giving it a try if you haven't already. read more
