She took our limited space and mapped out a plan that was perfect and incorporated everything we needed and wanted. When we were unsure about something, she'd make suggestions and help us reach a decision. She contacted us when she got to her office and we had a Zoom meeting where we reviewed a lot of details of the plan. That was a few hour process and we were exhausted when we got done but that same day we received from her a complete plan incorporating all the hardscape, landscaping, and plants, as well as a materials list. We were amazed! Her pricing is very reasonable and we felt we got much more value than what she charged. What's more, some of our design needed to change over the next few months as we were implementing the plan and Kim quickly responded to all of our questions and challenges with great suggestions. I met with a few different contractors, and after meeting Jose and his team, I went with Simancas Landscaping and was very happy with the decision. I actually created the plan myself for the backyard, and reviewed it with Jose and it came out exactly as I had hoped! I did all the landscaping myself, but I am sure that his team could've also done that as well. We also decided to pave over our concrete California Room to make everything cohesive, and the finished product came out better than expected. K&D's proposal was the most expensive, but it included a landscape architect and project management. We had also seen other projects they had completed and believed their reputation justified the higher cost. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet those expectations. The project was originally estimated to take approximately 2 1/2 months but ultimately took about 9 months to complete. Because of the issues we experienced during the project, we filed a complaint with the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) and participated in their mediation process. Through CSLB mediation, we reached a settlement with K&D for more than $20,000.
