If you're buying a used car from them have it checked out by an independent mechanic. My mechanic advised me not to buy the car because of the issues he found which the dealership represented as in good condition, coming from the top third of trade-ins. These people perform the absolute minimum "safety" inspection. The dealership had the wheels off so that the rims could be cleaned up from scrapes. The car would normally have wider tires in the rear but they put them back on with the wider tires on one side instead. Also found staff rude to my wife. Didn't feel like a culture that was respectful of women. We won't be back to this dealership for anything. read more

*sigh* I wanted to give this place a better review, especially after the salesman Tommy even complained about Swickard and how he missed when it was Magic, and how great Magic was. I traded in a 2020 Honda CR-V for a 2017 Prius C. I wanted to downsize my car and save on gas. The car up front seemed great with low miles, but it was missing a key fob, which Tommy conveniently did not tell me about until everything was already signed, so there was no way to negotiate. The rubber around one of the windows is loose as well. During negotiations, we could overhear the other salesmen talking shit about their customers. I was too exhausted to ask more about getting a second key fob, so a few days later I tried to call Tommy. He never gave me a business card nor wrote down his information anywhere, so I could not contact him directly. When I called their general phone number, someone answered and passed me off to a man named "Carlos". Right off the bat he was super aggressive when I told him politely about the key fob. He told me I would "have to take it up with Tommy" and that they don't have to provide a second key fob because it's not certified used. I told him Tommy never told me any of this information until after signing so how would I know? I had tried to reach out to Tommy more than once but got a general voicemail, and never received a call back. They had it & I initially had to pay upfront for my FOB but when I finally get my car there is a $200 fee for the programming of service. Keep in mind my warranty was into my loan so my payment was more. But because it was voided they had to refund the $4500 which I haven't received it all. They screwed me over and they refused for weeks to cover the shop fees. I do not recommend dealing with this dealership. In short, I would avoid them if possible and try Toyota Lake City or Kirkland. They have dealer markup, dealer add-ons that can't be removed, and slimy/dishonest sales tactics. I just left here without my vehicle after reaching an agreement 3 weeks ago. They wouldn't honor the trade in value quoted from their website and made me spend 2 hours in the dealership getting a new quote. That quote came in 15% lower than the bottom range. I was ready to walk and they met me in the middle. They had me come back in two weeks later when the vehicle was about to arrive and tried to drop the trade in value on me another ~10% at the signing table. They glossed past it probably hoping I wouldn't notice. When I called them out they explained the trade in quote they provided was not the appraised value of the car, but the value plus any tax credits. This was never the case. We were comparing prices with Carmax and private selling, so trade in tax credit was never part of the equation. In fact, this value they ended up at was very close to their original lowball offer. I could hear them having the same conversation with an older couple next to me. It's clearly the M.O. to try to pull 10% off your trade in value at the signing table and hope that you either don't notice or are too pregnant with the deal. I wasted three trips and hours I can never get back dealing with these clowns. Save yourself the time and trouble and shop somewhere else. read more

Purchased a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee in February.... Seamless buying process. Very impressed; but I was sold an unsafe vehicle. Test drive went fine, highway 99, backroads, didn't notice an issue. After buying the Jeep and on I5 I had a significant pulsating in the front end and when braking the pulsating got worse. Turns out the brakes were shot and I ended up paying $1400 for calipers, pads and rotors. Pads were almost to metal and the rotors were warped and could not be turned. Apparently the Jeep was inspected; but it's obvious somebody didn't do their job. I told the dealership and honestly didn't ask for anything as I was told straight up I purchased the vehicle " as is ." I think a customer can't expect a perfect vehicle when it's used; but unsafe is unacceptable. I accept it was " as is " and count my blessings nothing happened on the way home. What really got me is that this vehicle was for my 16 yo daughter. I don't know if there was dishonesty; but there was negligence and when it comes to safety, there is NO excuse. So in summary, be careful with this dealership, and even though you shouldn't need to, take any potential used vehicle purchase to a mechanic for an inspection. I was at this dealership not too long ago, as walked into the front door there was an Asian gentleman sitting at a desk on the left looking pretty bored, granted it was late in the day. I was inquiring about the bz4x, After he let me test drove a used model, I told him I have an interest of trading in my Chevy Bolt EUV. He made a comment how the Bz4 is bigger, but have no interest of my car, in fact, he told me to take it across the street to see what they would give me for it. That is the worst customer service ever! As if Toyota is way too good for Chevy to be in there a lot. I end up buying a Bz4 from the dealer today, the salesman said that Is unheard of that dealership would turn away your business. I have come to Magic Toyota over the years both for my cars and with my parents for their cars when they had Toyotas. Most recently I brought my Toyota Corolla, who I named Lepton, here on the 24th of June 2020 for an oil change and inspection. The service/employees were friendly and didn't try to push anything superfluous. My car was purring smoothly when I came back to pick it up about an hour later. I found waiting by exploring nearby Scriber Lake Park a good way to pass the time. One of the things I like about the Vehicle Inspection Report is that parts to be replaced/addressed are given a time frame to address. I have a couple of things that were classified as requiring immediate attention and a few things requiring future attention. This is very useful when thinking of what parts need addressing and my personal finances/budgeting. At car pick-up and payment time each of the parts requiring attention I was talked through. Terrible experience! Went to sell my car. I am not much of a complainer, but very frustrating experience. Day 1 - 3:30pm arrive on the dealership to sell my tesla. After waiting for 30 min a manager came and said we are very busy but we will definitely buy your car, how much are you asking for? Gave the price and he mentioned that would call on the following day to get the papers signed. Day 2 - No one called Day 3 - went back there, he was no available asked to come back following day Day 4 - went back there, another manager said they had enough teslas and wouldn't be buy in another one. I passed 2 deals because their offer was technically the best. But that was no offer end of day. Very frustrating Just get a better customer service, I don't know the rest. Do not buy a used car from Swickard. I took my 18 year old son to buy his first car at Swickard. This was a celebratory trip for his upcoming college experience. However, the experience was terrible and turned out how to be a lesson in how to stand up for yourself in the face of terrible service and a high-pressure sales pitch. I've bought many cars in my life, from individuals and from dealerships, and I've never experience anything like what I experienced at Swickard. My son had done his research on cars, so we knew exactly what car he wanted at Swickard. We took it for a test drive. All of that was fine. We went back in to buy the car. I had cash and was willing to pay the listed price, no financing needed. I wanted to get out of there quickly, so I wasn't interested in negotiating. The price was in the ballpark. However, it took us hours to work through all the paperwork. My son was listed on our insurance, but the insurance company hadn't yet sent us an updated card. Instead, I had them send email proof of insurance that I could share to Swickard. The sales manager wouldn't accept anything other than a printed card with my son's name of it, and this caused a lot of unnecessary back and forth between us and some sales executive in the back who we never saw. We were there for hours and it was utterly exhausting. On top of that, the sales manager, who said he was new, gave us a very high-pressure sales pitch on buying an extended contract for car maintenance. It was on the order of thousands of dollars above the sales price of ~$15k. The whole process left me and my son feeling very uncomfortable. Honestly, if my son didn't have his heart set on that car, I would have left - the experience was that bad. In any case, I thought, "well, this is a teaching moment to show my son how to stand your ground in these situations." Still, I expected better from this dealership. I worked with Mazda dealerships for most of my purchases in the past, and they never treated me this way. Part of the reason why I went to a dealership to buy a used car was to have peace of mind about the state of the car. The car clearly had regular maintenance per the records they showed to us, and I trusted the dealership to do a thorough inspection to ensure the car was in good shape as they state they do on their website. "Toyota uses a 160-Point Quality Assurance Inspection to make sure we deal in only the best pre-owned vehicles. Once we make sure they deserve the Certified Used Vehicle badge, we back them with a 12-month/12,000-mile limited comprehensive warranty, a 7-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, and one year of roadside assistance." However, that did not turn out to be a valid assumption buying a car from Swickard. Just a few days after purchasing the car, the car lost power on a highway while my son was driving it. He pulled over to the side and called me. We managed to get it started again, but it was scary for him. We took it to a nearby mechanic and they said that the spark plugs and coils were clearly in need of replacement. The cost? Over $1k. Wow. About a month later, the alternator failed and now the car is in the shop having that replaced. The dealership, who still owed us the license plates for the car, called a day or so after that. They had forgotten to have us sign some paperwork while we were there and asked us to drive over an hour to come back to sign it. We asked them to send it Fedex to us with a return packet. They didn't. Instead, a week or so later they called again with the same request, and then said they were going to send their sales person all the way out to us to have us sign it in person. We asked to elevate to the sales manager and said "please just send it Fedex" which they finally did. We also told this person about the $1k repair we had to make on the car a week after buying it, and he said "send me the bill and I'll see what I can do to make this right." We sent the bill but they never did anything. Eventually, they sent us the license plate for the back of the car, but failed to send us the front license plate. We're still trying to get it, but honestly, I've lost all hope that this place will come through on any promise they make. This is the most disorganized dealership I've ever experienced. Couple that with the high-pressure sales pitch and false promise for fully inspecting and ensuring the car was in top shape, I would never recommend anyone buying a used car from this dealership. After cooling down for a day, I went through the service paperwork they provided me, and they didn't even perform one of the 3 items I requested - rotating the tires! The paperwork just says that they "set the air pressures" - which I already monitor - but they skipped my request for rotation. Not the first time, but definitely the last for me. Once they took over to call the service department you are routed to some poor guy in a call center that can't even answer the basic question of 1) cost of the service 2) how long the service will take 3) details of service being provided. . Returned it to have it rectified; they had it for a month "fixing it" but when I picked it up they had used some sort of toxic cleaning chemical, and the mold smell was still there. I took my 2023 corolla in for an oil change. I had to park my van there overnight, so I have a car to get back home after dropping of the corolla. I did not want to wait around for a shuttle as that can take up to two or more hours of my time. I got permission from the service advisor Sam to park in the front of the building. The next following morning when I went to get my van the sales manager posted a note my only window "NO OVERNIGHT PARKING VEHICLE WILL BE TOWED." As I was getting into my van a second later, he came out harping on me and lecturing to me about not parking there. I told him I got Sam permission to do so. He did not even listen to what I said to him and he kept babbling on and rising his voice at me. All he had to tell me was please park in the front not by the sales parking lot. I would have moved to purchase a car today, but this Toyota dealer had terrible customer service. the salesman Tie(probably not spelling this right) knew nothing about the car he was trying to sell, and did not take the time to ask me about my needs. wasted about 3 hours that could have easily been avoided if he had just taken the time to talk to me like a normal human being. Ipointed to the coolant reservoir to ask what it was and tie said he did not know, he never pops the hoods on cars and only takes them in if they make noise. I was hoping to trade in my car and they took my keys to "value the trade in" and then they never gave my keys back. I asked tie multiple times for my keys and eventually had to get the manager to get my keys back. the first offer they gave me was trash, and when I told tie what my needs were he left for 20 minutes, and then returned with the same fucking offer. the hardest part of this was sitting there waiting for so long and seeing other people have normal conversations with their sales reps. this place could be alright if you dealt with someone respectful, just be careful giving them your keys because they might not give them back. read more

Having checked in other dealerships for the desired RAV4 Prime, I thought I would wait until more stock arrived in our area, since I could not even get a test drive in one. However, on returning from a month-long trip, I sought out the Swickard web page and immediately found exactly what I was seeking. A few hours later, the hook was set and we talked purchase with salesman John, who was very competent. Yes, the Monroney sticker was missing from the car (leading me to believe that it had been transferred from another dealer - and I was right!). But the initial details of the sticker were accurate, and I merely questioned the Dealer Installed Option. It was a long list of mostly promised services and protections for just under $6,000. I did negotiate a minor discount, thinking that the scarcity and high demand for RAV4s put me in a more difficult bargaining position. Nevertheless, I expected that these Dealer Options would be noted in the purchase papers. They were not - and several request since have not resulted in anyone at Swickard providing that information. When I picked up the car a week later, the Toyota Vehicle Delivery Checklist was unsigned, the battery was only half charged, we were given only one key fob, and the service contact was never made. Just as well - I will never let Swickard service touch my car. Just look at the reports from unhappy customers on this forum! I downloaded a similar Monroney for another RAV4 on their lot (they sometimes get torn if affixed to a window like mine was, but they always should be in the new car). On the plus side, John the sales rep did offer to help me understand some of the new media features and options during the first week of ownership. read more

My wife took her car in recently for a detailing. When she picked it up, the detailing looked OK but there were noticeable scratch marks on the top of the driver's side door. The counter guy said they jimmied the lock (!) because the door had accidently been locked and they couldn't locate the guy who had the keys at that moment. They comped the detailing and said a manager would be in touch. Never heard back from a manager and still have a significantly damaged car (see pictures). As is clear from the pictures, a free detailing does NOT cover the extent of the damage. Extremely unhappy with the customer service here, will not be returning for any reason. read more

Went in 6/29/21 for a pre buy inspection and was notified by the advisor that I had an issue with my front cv axle. I drive a Scion FR-S which is rear wheel drive. This raised a concern for me due to the fact that my car does not have front cv axles so I questioned the advisor "my car does not have front cv axles" he responded with a smirk on his face "well then how are the wheels supposed to spin?" I told him that "the front wheels are on a steering knuckle and ride on the spindle" the advisor stepped away and came back to me and apologized that he was incorrect. We went through the inspection and a lot of information was incorrect. I called and spoke to the potential buyer and he decided not to purchase the car but after explaining what they deemed "wrong" he is still considering the purchase. I wish the advisors could have a better understanding of the vehicles and what components they have. This is the second and last time I will be taking any of my vehicles to this dealership. The first time I had a recall done on my frs. They got it done in a timely manner but had a check engine light come on within 3 miles of the recall. Took it back to the shop and they found that the vvti solenoid had silicone in the oil passage. I was quoted a ridiculous amount and again, questioned their judgement. I told them that they were the only shop to ever do any internal engine work on my vehicle. The only way contaminates could enter the oil system is when they reseal the engine. Thankfully I was in the right and they covered the bill but if people don't know much about cars they could be spending money on things that are not actually failed. Had a horrible experience here. I showed up after work, and to me, they appeared visibly annoyed that it was late, they told me It had been a busy day and that I could do my business anytime. When I told them I had driven in and would like to buy a car they sent me to talk to someone at their used car lot at a nearby location, I was not in the market for a used car by the way but they said that was where a guy would help me. Once there the guy told me there was no one available to help me for a vert long time. I told him that I knew it was not his fault but that the guy at the other location has sent me on a wild goose chase. At that point the man I was talking to became what I would consider outright hostile. He was, in my opinion; belligerent, deceitful, and insulting as he went about what I thought was a clear attempt to be rid of me. Then I believe he very clearly implied to me that I was rudely expecting him to kick someone else out to help me which I neither wanted nor ever implied in any way. It is my strong personal belief, that this location uses manipulation and deception in their sales. It is my opinion that there is little they will not do to influence a clientele whom they do not value. If anyone asked me my opinion, I would recommend they do their business anywhere else. read more

I am only giving 2 stars because our salesman was outstanding. The finance department on the other hand, completely ruined any positive first impression he may have left. We purchased a truck here recently and upon signing all of the finance paperwork the gentleman realized he made a mistake and financed more than he was supposed to. We were given the option of a refund in that amount or lower payment. We asked for a refund which we were promised upon delivery of the plates. Mistakes happen, no biggie. Fast forward, our plates still aren't in and the temp plates expired so my husband went to get new ones when he was informed that somehow (I have NO idea how) the truck wasn't even registered in our names. This is not some sketchy little car dealership on 99. This is a major dealership. I do not understand how this happened. A couple weeks later I pick up the plates. Forgot the check so my husband called them up and was informed that they apparently overpaid the company that financed our trade in. I would be lying if I said I wasn't frustrated at this point. I ended up calling the dealership and talked to a Neil I believe... said he would look into it and give me a call. It's been 2 weeks now, no call. About an hour passed and the same gentleman approached me to tell me that my vehicle was almost done. He then told me that my cabin air filter in the passenger seat side was missing, completely. He said that he's never seen the cabin air filter missing completely before. And would I like to replace it today? I told the gentleman to give me a second as I would call my husband. I called my husband to see if that we have an extra one in our garage. I declined the offer but received a call back from my husband immediately to see what the cost of the filter was. I went to the garage area and found my car and the same gentleman at the computer. I asked him the cost for the filter and he said it will cost $46. I said never mind then he proceeded to tell me he would put it in for free. I was at first confused at the word "free" and he repeated that he would put it in for free several times very intensely. After being told several times of no cost, I asked him a clarifying question. No cost for labor AND filter? But of course, I would still have to pay for the filter. I declined his offer, paid for my oil change and drove home. My husband ordered a cabin air filter for our vehicle and it arrived a couple of days later. After receiving the air filter, my husband called me over to our garage. He said there was an air filter already in and that it was relatively clean and would not need replacing. Couple of days passed after this and I couldn't shake off the feeling of being deceived and "almost scammed" feeling. It felt that the gentleman was trying to make a few dollars off of me because I, as a female customer, would not know but take the word of the person working at the dealership. If I didn't call my husband, I would have trusted his word and paid the $46.00 for the new air filter. We have been a paying customer for years and I feel that deserves at least an honest interaction between your company and I. And I still can't shake off the "dirty" feeling I get when I think about my experience there. I was going to write a 1 star yelp review but saw your comments and email so decided to email you first. Also I left a message on Sat for one of the service managers to call me and no one has yet. I felt that this was something that needed to be looked into by a supervisor. Also, I am hoping this is not a normal practice in any of the departments in your company. Otherwise, I will not continue to do business with your company in the future. read more
