As part of that school's safety training, they threw him in the water wearing street clothes. He was doing ok for about 30 seconds but then panicked and started to sink so one of the teachers had to jump in and pull him out. (It was partially my fault since I mistakenly had him wear long pants that absorbed water). Anyhow, he freaked out and got very scared. We continued to go to that school for several more weeks but he stagnated with his training and the teacher became frustrated and tried to push him too hard so he had a melt down. Fast forward two years, I started taking him to the Hall Swim Academy west LA location about 2 months ago and he started trying again to learn how to swim with Anna. Anna is extremely kind and patient with kids. She demonstrates what she wants him to do and corrects mistakes in his floating and swim strokes and has him repeat as necessary. She is able to recognize how much to push and when to give him more space and repeats instructions as necessary. He loves going to swim class with Anna and is motivated to learn so he can swim with his friends at summer camp. Yesterday, he had two major breakthroughs. He spent most of the class in the pool without wearing goggles which he previously refused to do. Then, on his own, he decided he wanted to try the swim test. So, he put on street clothes over his swim suit, jumped in the water, floated on his back for 20 seconds and then easily swam to the side of the pool and climbed out on his own. He was so proud of himself for overcoming his fear and is now looking forward to his next class with Anna. I am very grateful to Anna for her kindness, professionalism, excellent teaching skills and being such a good motivator. Thank you!!

Bailey is playful and fun, but also direct in guiding my opinionated four year old so that she can be water safe. Under her instruction she was able to learn how to swim across the pool by herself unsupported. With her new found confidence she now eagerly practices diving for gems and starfishes when we go to the pool as a family. A big change from where she began this summer - completely unwilling to go swimming without support from her puddle jumper!

For us, this has been epitomized by our time with K&K Swimming. We began weekly swim lessons for our one-year-old twins months ago, and it's been one of the best decisions we've made for their early development. Coach Kai and Coach Kevin are nothing short of outstanding. They've demonstrated exceptional professionalism, a profound understanding of teaching swimming to young kids, and, most importantly, the ability to make our children feel utterly comfortable and safe in the pool. Their service extends beyond just providing swimming lessons. They customize their teaching techniques to cater to our twins' unique temperaments and growth stages, which shows how much they invest in understanding their students. These aren't just swimming lessons but rather a journey of self-discovery and confidence-building for our children. Another remarkable aspect of K&K Swimming is the convenience they provide. The fact that they come to our house for the lessons is a game-changer. No need for rushing or worrying about commute times, traffic, or the twins' comfort on long drives. They bring all the necessary equipment, maintain excellent hygiene standards, and have always been punctual and respectful of our space. In every lesson, the joy on our twins' faces is evident. Whether it's their first tentative paddle or the increasingly confident splashes, each week brings a new milestone, thanks to the patient and effective coaching by Kai and Kevin. Lastly, the personal rapport that Kai and Kevin have built with our family is invaluable. They're more than just swimming coaches to us now. They've become friends and trusted guides in our parenting journey, always eager to share their wealth of knowledge about children's swimming and overall development. In conclusion, K&K Swimming offers more than just a service; they provide an experience that fosters learning, confidence, and joy in the children they teach, while offering peace of mind to the parents. They are the epitome of excellence in their field, and we wholeheartedly recommend their services to anyone looking to introduce their child to swimming. We look forward to continuing our weekly sessions and seeing our little ones blossom under their guidance. Thank you, K&K Swimming, for making these precious years even more special.

What became clear very quickly is that these are young instructors with little to no experience working with children and a limited understanding of how to handle common situations that arise in a pool setting. In one instance, as a "safety exercise" the coach had my 9-year-old daughter to swim with her eyes covered with the swim cap. After my daughter became visibly upset, cried, and explained that she felt anxious and her heart was racing, the coach continued to push the exercise. I asked the coach to let it go for the time being and she agreed, but minutes later told my daughter that she would have to do it next time regardless of how she felt. Anyone working with children, especially in a swimming environment, should have at least basic training in recognizing and responding appropriately to anxiety. The coach's approach showed a lack of understanding, empathy, and judgment. This experience was unacceptable. I would not recommend spending your money here. The school appears to invest very little in properly training and preparing its instructors to work with children.
