We went to the Swiss Chalet on 853 Milner Ave. in Scarborough Ontario, Canada on June 10th about 2:30. We have been to that restaurant several times before. The food and the service has been good in the past. However, this time it was a terrible experience. It took a while for anyone to greet us. So, we waited. We were greeted by a miserable woman who essentially pointed to a booth for us to take. This woman waited on us. She was the most miserable waitress I've ever had. Never smiled. It certainly seemed like she did not like her job. She had an attitude. I felt we were not welcome there. She did not take drink orders right away. We waited. I asked what draft beer they had. I felt like I was intruding on he for asking a question. She reluctantly rattled of the list. She never smiled. I ordered roast beef. I received a plate that was three quarters filled with French fries, a bread roll, small slab of butter, a small mound of roast beef and a separate dish with vegetables. The French fries were not fresh and reheated. The bread roll was hard as a rock and there was not enough butter for the roll. The small portion of roast beef did not taste like roast beef. It tasted horrible. I counted three carrot slices and a small piece of broccoli and cauliflower. The vegetables were reheated. The carrots tasted like mush. The meal was essentially garbage, not fit for a dog. The disgusting waitress got a tip but if it were up to me, she would have received nothing for a tip. That was a miserable lunch. That waitress and whoever prepared the food should be fired. read more

This is the location to avoid - long wait times for your order - take out or dine-in. When I asked the surly person behind the counter how much longer, I got this reply, "we're short staffed." 3400 Danforth Avenue (Danforth Road and Danforth) is a hidden gem. Great service from Annie who seems to be a fixture there and understands the meaning of customer service. Food arrived hot, fresh and enjoyed the experience. Will be returning again. read more

The food wasn't the best part of my dinner, it was the Waiter named Amit K. His generosity and attention to your needs was amazing. Having the care to take care of our order and bringing me extra sauce and drink without asking was amazing. The food is decent as the fries were overcooked and I have a lot of bits and pieces, but I was very impressed with Amit's attitude and service. He is an acceptional waiter. The worse dinning experience i have had in years. We had a reservation for 16, when we arrived for our meal we were treated with inderference and told curtly "you'll just have to wait. Boy did we have to wait. Our reservation was for 1pm. (we had looked it for 1pm 2 weeks proir.) After a 30+ min wait we finaly were herded into a very cold room full of dry wall dust and busy work crew on the other side of a flimsy dry wall barrier. You could not heard your self fhink. If took the lone waiter almost 20 minutes to take our orders and another 20 munites to get our meals. I felt like our party was a big inconvience to the staff. Avoid this place like the plague. There is a very good Swiss Chalet at Danforth & Danforth only a few minutes away. Their service is very much beter. The food was pretty good but the racket was unbearable. One of the slowest locations I've ever been to. I've come to this place three times as it is right across from the go station which I take to head to school, however each time I've been it has been progressively worse and worse. The first time I came here I went to the take out side as I had 15-20 minutes before my go train came and I managed to be given my food 5 minutes before my go train comes (but if you count crossing the crosswalk, I really got there 2 minutes before) The next time thinking I had a good 30-45 mins before my go train came, I decided to dine in (thinking maybe it'd be faster) boy was I wrong the server did not come to us at all until 10 minutes after we were seated and then after we ordered took almost another 15-20 mins for all our food to come, I missed my go train to school that day. The chicken was also extremely dry and heavily FRIED (it is oven roasted chicken no?) Today however I decided I had to do take out as there was no way I could miss my go train, boy was I wrong. I ordered a hamburger thinking it'd be fastest, not only did the take out lady take forever to bring out my food she also forgot the previous persons food leading her to bring out my food 1 MINUTE before the go train came. I absolutely missed it thanks to her slowness. There needs to either be more staff at hand or a better system to be serving customers at a normal speed. read more

I've been going to this Swiss Chalet for the past 20 years since it's just a few block away from my house. Today, I spent $75 for 4 orders of Bacon Cheese Burger with fries. ($16.49 each, it used to be $13.99). We always order burgers from Swiss Chalet because we prefer them over Harveys. Today, we were extremely disappointed! First, It was missing the condiments on the sides (lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions) I went back to get them and they apologized. However, when we got home, you would expect to have proper slices/pieces of bacon on your burger since we paid the extra but what we got was chopped up bacon. It looked liked they had only cooked 2 slices of bacon then chopped it into pieces and divided onto the 4 burgers. For the many times we had ordered Bacon Cheese Burgers here, it was always prepared with a full slice or 2 of bacon on each burger. But today, it literally was only a few pieces chopped up. We paid extra for bacon and they should follow the request properly because we paid for it. The cook had NO SHAME AT ALL to prepare the pricey burgers like that!! For spending $75, you expect QUALITY!!!!! I bet if this situation had happened to that COOK, he/she would be so angry! Learn to Honour Quality!! I should have gone to Wendy's or 5Guys instead. I generally like Swiss Chalet in most locations because you know what you are getting and it is pretty consistent. I especially like this location because I have always had good meals (of course I must confess I am addicted to the quarter chicken and seldom try other items). The service is good and the food is tasty. The takeout is fast and consistently good too! I have good memories of this location back when I took the Go Train. I would be tired and hungry and this location is across the street from the Go Train. It was convenient. So this location is near and dear to my heart..... oh! That reminds me, I should also write a positive review from the O'Connor location! They have been great too! PS. Kudos to their young staff member who patiently dealt with a unhappy customer. He constantly complained while waiting for his takeout. She and the other staff replaced his order to ensure it was hot and were very diplomatic despite his poor behaviour. They managed him quickly thus making it easier for the other customers who were waiting for their orders. Bravo! read more

Swiss Chalet quality is not good any more. I had their food this in evening. Chicken leg was raw and rice was hard like rubber. Pathetic experience was, I could see the blood on the leg. I have enclosed a picture of that with my post. Please share this post. Everybody has right to know what kind of food they are providing us, which could make food poisoning. read more

I am disappointed! We are from out of town and wanted to try a Canadian chain! We both ordered wraps which were kind of bland and dry. Not horrible just not great. Our waiter was friendly but basically disappeared after we got our food and didn't come back until we were long ready for the check. Probably would not recommend or be back. read more

Would expect the presentation to be a bit better. I order the chicken parm Sammy with Caesar salad and plate didn't seem full. Would expect more salad to fill the plate more. But main disappointment was the chicken. The actually breaded chicken was not warm at all when I took my first bite. The cheese on top was a bit warm but I assume that was because they put it under the broiler to melt, however, the actual chicken was not warm whatsoever. My boyfriend also got the chicken parm Sammy with fries and he too also said his chicken was not warm whatsoever. Very disappointed and will not eat at Swiss chalet. Ordered 3 times from this location, and let me tell u I will never get my craving of swiss from here again. First time I ordered a quarter chicken meal and wings, they forgot my utensils and vaggie sticks, witch woundnt have been a problem if I wasnt just moving into my new place that day. Second time was on my birthday I got a poutine&wings, let me tell you it was horribly put together my gravey opend up in the bag, their was cheese on only one side of my poutine and they then again forgot my vaggie sticks.. didn't help that the driver was a half hour late because he said "the cops pulled him over "witch made my food cold the last time I ordered again poutine and wings... yet no vaggie sticks and gravy this time... if your looking to satisfie your craving for Swiss, please save yourself the headache oder from another location, it doesn't help that the phone operator who took my oders didn't speak English all 3 times I had to tell then to repeat then self. read more

Service started out okay and at least the beer was cold. Table was probably wiped down quickly but wasn't clean enough that you wanted your cutlery to touch it. Brought my salad before the cutlery. Chicken (white meat for $1.80 extra) was missing 1/2 the skin (I called the waiter over and pointed it out), chalet sauce was, at best, 2/3rds full which wasn't nearly enough with mostly skinless chicken; server didn't come back until after the meal was finished (too late to buy more sauce). Wasn't particularly busy at the time and the service got worse & worse as time passed. Unlikely that I'll return. read more

We had great service with a wonderful waitress tonight named Anita, she was checking up on us regularity asking for refills and if there was anything we needed. The place was pretty busy and she was tending to everyone very well. My food tasted amazing, I got the chicken pesto penne which I get everytime and this time it was probably the best, chicken was done great and everything was perfect temperature when it arrived.
