First the good things about our stay: The bed was VERY comfortable & huge. The air conditioning was strong, and the hot water was HOT. Price point was also fair. The sign of the dog pooping and peeing outside our room cracked me up. Otherwise, pretty run down. Problematic toilet. Smoky smelling. Didn't feel shower was adequate. The continental breakfast that's getting raves from others was lacking. The OJ was rancid, tasted like it had vodka in it & then I realized it was just fermented. ABSOLUTELY disgusting, I booked a hotel room for my son and his friend for a few days to go skiing and when went to the room it was 90 degrees and when I went to go turn down the heat it was set to 60 and it clearly wasn't working. When I went back down the office they offered me a new room,and I took it and when I came into the new room it was indubitably unsanitary the light was already on and both beds were messed up asking as the pillows like they were laying and sleeping in them. Do not stay here. The place is gross. Cute outside but step in your room and you will find a musty stained old carpet. You will not have cell service unless you walk outside. Kind of surprised at the reviews here. Let me try and break it down for you. Been here a handful of time and... True: Gentleman at check in isn't the most warm fellow but isn't out of line or rude. True: The place is not a 5 star hotel but the rooms are clean, beds and linens are clean and the bathroom is clean. True: Breakfast is not a 5 star buffet but is definitely decent (eggs, waffles, sausages, fruits, cereals, toast, bagels). Considering its free, I'm surprised at the complaints. Putting it simply, the rooms are in need of an upgrade but are well worth the price you're paying (especially in the N. Conway area.) If you want luxury, there are plenty of $500 a night places in the area. If you want a decent room, with a decent meal and one that's owned by a local and not a chain, it definitely has the charm and can fit your needs. read more

My room smelled even worse, I couldn't breathe through my nose it was so bad. After opening the windows, it did improve slightly. This rating is based on the type of hotel you are staying at. If you are staying here you are looking for an inexpensive stay in the North Conway area but don't want to sleep at a motor inn. This is that place. Great price. Check. Pet friendly for the dogs. Check. Free breakfast in the morning. Check. Now here are the pitfalls. The breakfast isn't going to be top quality especially with covid hitting. Your looking at bagels and danishes. Some cereal and some juice. But it's free and with kids quick and easy. Your not going to have Marriott quality furniture or crown molding. You may have a bad paint job or a patched up backward tile here or there or even sharpie on the tub to show you where the gauge has to be to make the run a shower but it all does the job. Cheap safe night stay in an expensive area. Also the back road it sits on is a great morning walk. 2.5 miles one way safe shaded and quiet with a bunch of other walkers or runners. We have been staying here at this innn the past few weeks for work related matters. we are currently here now. The first time we stayed was great we stayed in a jacuzzi tub room with a king bed, fireplace and impressive mountain view. the rooms are always so clean and nice. I give housekeeping so much gratitude you are doing a great job!! However, the inn keepers the older woman and I believe her husband Gio, are not exactly warm friendly helpful or inviting. They are a bit arrogant and neglectful and today was the worst day of it all. our third time back here and there was a snowstorm. there is a plow truck right out front in the parking lot but this morning we were not able to get to work because the parking lot was not plowed until about 12pm. most all businesses should be plowed for liability and safety issues. we almost lost our jobs today because of the laziness of the inn keepers. the housekeeping and young man who did eventually clear a path with the plow for us you are all amazing and I thank you so much. the older woman and Gio should not be runnlung this inn. Gio also insinuated that we could not afford the jacuzzi room the last time we visited and refused to tell me the difference in price therefore we decided not to give them our money towards that room. Their loss, guess they didn't want our money and guess they don't care enough to want us to come back here. also we noticed there are some drug users here and sketchy people. beware do nothing your children or families here!!! read more

We decided last minute book the room with a hot tub in it and it was lovely, not very updated more of a cabin style but the bed was very comfortable. The hot tub was great, along with the fireplace both only a couple feet away from the bed. It's very close to many local attractions and we got plenty of towels, good for the price! read more

This is our second stay this summer. We came up in July and fell in love with the Chalets and surrounding water attractions. The owner Sanjay is wonderful as well as his awesome staff. Jay at the front desk is very attentive and helpful. We have a large deck that overlooks the beautiful White Mountains. The breakfast is great with waffles, eggs and sausage. The pool is so warm and there are lots of umbrellas around the deck for shade while the pool itself is in full sun. It is a great way to spend the evening after a day on the river. We went to the Swiss Chalet Village Inn for a quick weekend getaway. We chose this hotel because it was one of the only places that not have a 2 night minimum. We arrived early and asked if we could check in early. The woman said that was fine but our room would not be ready until 3:00. We said that we understood and that we would come back. She gave my the check in paperwork and my address was incorrect. She complained about the booking websites and printed out the paperwork. We came back at 3:00. We were given our room key but told that our room was not ready. The female owner said " I do not know how long it will be as she has not given me a report". At 3:15 we informed the staff that we were still waiting, she gave us the key to a second room that was not ready. At 3:45 we went back to the front desk and we spoke with the male owner. He said " I can not make her faster, I will go help her in a minute". I asked for a refund because we wanted to leave and he said " I am not the owner". I asked to speak to the owner and he said " I am the owner, I can not give you your money back." At this point, I was so angry. he finally gave us the key to yet another room. Pros: Clean rooms, comfortable bed, decent view, Cons: Bad customer service, no regard for the customer's time, remote for TV didn't work. read more

2.5 stars....This place is cheap and in the vicinity of North Conway and Attitash (15 min) or Wildcat (30 min). The staff were friendly, and the room was clean. The 2 stars means "I've had better" and I'm sure you have too (I've also had much worse). The decor is definitely dated and yes, the TV is a joke, but who's going up there to watch TV? Then again, I was there during the blizzard so I left the bar early and went back to the room. I was able to watch a movie on Netflix through my laptop and the free wireless was fast enough to play it in HD. Perhaps it's worth noting that the heated pool is not open in the winter. The nicer hotels in the area get at least $250 a night. I paid $79/nt. I would stay here again for that alone. read more

The room smelled like feet, the carpet was filthy, the front door wouldn't close properly, bathroom cabinet had missing door handles, two towels had someone else's hair. The game room and weight room was a single dirty room with a broken treadmill and rusty washer/dryer, an old pool table, holes in the ceiling and a single broken video game. There were 3 welfare families living at hotel all of whom had numerous children all over the pool, up early making a rucous. read more

This is our second year staying here for a last summer event with the kids at Storyland. We paid a bit extra for the deluxe room that has 2 queens and a pullout. Very worth it. I do not know how other rooms compare, but I would say the value of the deluxe is excellent. There is a balcony with a sweet mountain view and a large room. In addition there is a heated pool that is small but adequate and a hot tub that is nice but also a bit aged. Overall a good value, friendly staff and good location for a Storyland visit. This place is adorable. My significant other and I came here this summer for a short weekend trip. We had driven past a few weeks earlier - spotted this cute Swiss themed establishment - and knew we had to come back again. We decided on late August and arrived as the sun was setting. The front desk staff was amazing and provided a quick check in. Our room was cute and comfortable. We were relaxing at the bon fire near the pool, watching the sun go down, when my man got down on one knee and proposed to me! It was the perfect moment in the perfect place. We were only planning on staying here one night but after that - we pushed it to two. We've decided this is *our spot* to celebrate our anniversary and definitely plan to come back next summer. This is our second stay here without a resv. Staggered in road weary (first time here with children) this will now probably be the only place for us to stay in the valley. Good price, clean room and right on the main rd though it is setback far enough to feel woodsy. Well - it started with the front desk girl taking about 10 minutes to come to the desk to check us in, then when the owner (I assume) called to see where she was, she yelled at him on the phone in front of us and told us he was cheap and had them doing multiple jobs. That certainly set the tone and though we were unimpressed with her unprofessionalism - it did open us up to how cheap this place was run. For the price we paid ($150/night) we felt like the quality was closer to being at a Motel 6. It is a cute-looking place. And, though I saw stains on the mattress protectors, the sheets seemed clean. (Other than the one dead bug we found in it.) But - it was all very cheap. We had a handtowel with a hole in it. Outdated fixtures. HORRIBLE breakfast with what tasted like fake eggs discs and undercooked home fries. Clementines were not ripe either. There are some other breakfast options, nothing to write home about. Our towels were replaced with damp towels. Hooks missing from the bathroom door, etc. Random signs with directions on the wall instead of neatly in a manual... The fireplace in the room was nice and it warmed the room. We got the room with the hot tub - and it's placed next to the big window where people walk by! No privacy! And since they don't have clear curtains it was either block the sun or get no privacy. Not happy about that at all. I like daylight! The hot tub was uncomfortable. Though it does fit two people, there is only one actual spot in it that is comfortable to lay down - so the other person is left in an uncomfortable position. I prefer to sit in a hot tub anyway, so double whammy. My husband used it ONCE and I only used it twice - it just kinda sucked and was very disappointing. Waste of extra money and moving the day of our trip to get this room. WE COULD HEAR LATE INTO THE NIGHT THE ROOM ABOVE US BANGING AROUND AND HEAR THEIR HOTTUB RUNNING. We came back to rest after a day out, and returned to roofers working directly overhead with roof scraps in front of our door - WHY did they book this building when they had work being done? Couldn't nap through that! Phone didn't work, found someone else's hairclip in the drawer, left a nearly empty tissue box for us instead of a new one... Overall unimpressed and won't return. read more

Save your money and go somewhere else. I'm only giving it 2 stars because of the location. The staff was very rude to us the entire time. The coffee absolutely sucks! The drain in the shower didn't drain well at all, and we found bugs in the bathroom. Having a hot tub in the room is nice, but we couldn't figure out how to lower the temperature. Even when turned off, the hot tub and gas fireplace emit a ton of heat, so you'll need the air conditioner on while you're in there (which is noisy.) The phone didn't work, so you'll need to bring a cell phone with you. The wifi works good sometimes and sometimes it doesn't, it all depends on the time of day and what device you have. I have an iPhone and my fiancé a Samsung Galaxy, and iPhones tend to work better on their wifi for some reason. I have no idea why. Bottom line? Don't stay here if you're looking for a place that's comfortable and has friendly staff. The breakfast options were decent, but nothing is labeled so beware if you have food allergies. read more

The good: the bed was comfortable, the price was low, the location was close to ski resorts and hiking trails. The bad: pretty much everything else. So much about this place felt cheap. Some of the outlets in our room didn't work, the bathroom door didn't lock properly, the do not disturb sign inexplicably did not fit the outside door handle, the shampoo was the worst that I've ever used and didn't clean properly, and they advertise a game room and gym, but it's really just one coin operated pool table and two exercise machines. Despite the cheapness of everything else, they had the money to install cameras all over the property and it felt like we were constantly being watched. Breakfast was okay, but not great. They didn't put out much hot food, so it would run out before all of the guests could get some. One time, the staff offered to make us another sausage, but ended up overcooking it to the point where it was rock hard and inedible. The eggs that they served tasted artificial and gross. The waffle machine produced dry, tasteless waffles. The staff were also weirdly protective of their waffle machine and hovered over us uncomfortably the one time that we used it. Speaking of the staff, it made me uncomfortable that the staff would always greet and thank my boyfriend when we visited the front office together, but would often ignore me. The list of complaints goes on. It snowed on one of the days that we stayed here, and the parking lot wasn't plowed until the next day. We were unable to drive out of the parking lot that evening because it was unplowed and unsalted. The heater was loud and it was impossible for us to sleep with it on, so we slept with no heat even though it was below freezing outside. The walls were very thin, so we could very clearly hear our neighbors getting frisky in their room. The more I think about our experience here, the more upset I get. Your money is definitely better spent elsewhere. read more

We booked online, checked in, walked into our room, and immediately walked back to the office to check out and ask for our money back. The smell of the room was nauseating, the air was so thick with the odor of sharp mildew we could still smell it on our clothes an hour later. The screens on the windows were hanging off the tracks, and the little pane of glass set in the wooden door was smashed in and their remedy was to tape some of the broken shards together then tape it back to the door. We were first offered a different unit and then a room upgrade, however for us we had seen enough, we just wanted our money back. This is my first review. I honestly spent a lot of time debating on whether or not to leave something negative seeing how our money was refunded, but I hope that by leaving this I will be saving someone the stress and aggravation of scrambling to find and book a room, effectively losing an entire night of precious vacation time. read more

The room my father and I stayed in featured two neat and totally clean double beds. Our heater did have a little buzz but I found it lulled me right into a deep sleep. Bathroom was also neat and clean, plenty of towels and even a little heat light in there. Tv was big and had a bunch of channels. Staff was nice and friendly each time we had interactions. Though the continental breakfast didn't feature a Zagat rating, I found it to be pretty standard. Their fruity pebbles had marshmallows so I don't know what else anyone could ask for?! The jacuzzi was great, very comfortable for two people. The jacuzzi was placed in front of a large window overlooking the mountains. The windows open for fresh air and to cool you down while you're in the jacuzzi, which was really nice. The room was dated and needs updating/new decor but was clean and the bed was so comfortable! The owner is very nice and eager to help. Breakfast was a large spread that included assorted cereal, toast, bagels, yogurt cups, hand fruit, sausage patties, egg patties, juice, coffee and make your own waffle. All in all it was worth the $200 for the night spent here in the White Mountains. read more

Let's start off by saying looks can be deceiving. My friend and I were looking to stay in NH for a night and hit up the shops in North Conway the next morning. We found Swiss Chalets had a room vacant and quickly grabbed it, (no other hotel in the area had vacancies or we would have gladly stayed there). I put my credit card info through Expedia to quickly reserve the room. Upon arrival, after three hours of driving and it now being close to 9pm, we walk into the lobby of the front desk building and a woman is sprawled out on the couch watching tv. Not very professional. We check in with her, she takes my credit card info again and gives us the key to our room. We already had an odd vibe but, we were tired and brushed it under the rug. We went down to the building our room is located in and we couldn't get the key to go into either of the locks. We tried every which way and the key wouldn't go in. We thought maybe we had the wrong key until my friend body slammed the door and it pushed open with resistance. The room was not only outdated but the vibe just seemed off. We didn't feel comfortable already walking through down to the bathroom and balcony to check everything out. The heat lamp is an eerie red color and the bathroom light above the sink flickers. Reminded me of a horror movie honestly. The handle of the balcony door was broken and barely locked, the toilet didn't flush, and the front door didn't lock. We now felt completely unsafe. Two girls alone in a room that doesn't lock.. We decided to grab food and try to find a new place to stay. We didn't want to say anything until we managed to find a new hotel. We managed to book a vacant room at a ski resort hotel down the street. We returned to the Swiss to grab our backpacks and complain that we wanted our money back. We walked into the original scene of the woman lounged out on the couch. We explained our situation and that the room felt unsafe and various items that were broken, along with what was viewed and listed on the Inn's site was not what we walked in on. She said we needed to book another room, but all the rooms were full.. didn't seem to make sense. We told her we found a new place and because we booked just a few hours prior to arriving, and we were in the room for less than ten minutes total, we would like our money back because we were unsatisfied and displeased. She put up a fight and was extremely rude saying she wouldn't return our money. After a grueling duel with this woman, we were refunded our $130 (pretty expensive for one night at a terrible place). I received an email from Expedia the next day to rate my stay to which I rated it one star. Someone at the Swiss responded "Because you reserve some where else to get free money." In conclusion, the staff lacked professionalism, sympathy, empathy, cleanliness, hospitality services and customer services skills. The room was dated, broken, gross, and felt unsafe. The outside of the buildings are very cutely decorated (as you can see in the photos). The setup makes it feel more like a motel than a hotel as there are several buildings surrounded by parking lots. The room was very neat. The fixtures, furniture and decorations were well-kept and did not show signs of wear. We had a room with two double beds. It came with a refrigerator and had a usable balcony which was nice to just sit back and chill with my 2-year-old daughter. The shades when completely drawn do not make the room very dark. This was not a problem for us but if you are one of those sleepers that need it pitch black just be aware that you won't get that (especially with the long summer nights). Overall, this is a solidly decent motel and I was prepared to give it three or four stars. However, there was one egregious mistake that means I will never stay at this place again. Our door did not lock well. You could not deadbolt the door from the outside because the deadbolt lock was physically damaged. Even worse, it was very difficult to close the door in a way that the other lock would latch. I spent a full five minutes trying (and finally succeeding) in getting the door to lock before leaving for the day. When we came back to our room after a day out, I pushed the door and it just flew right open! Apparently, when they had cleaned the room, they did not lock the door. I see that another Yelper complained about this very issue back in Nov 2016 -- over half a year ago -- and they did not fix it. Even though this motel has several good qualities, I feel it's my duty to give it 1 star because no traveller should stay in a motel that does not make efforts to provide a basic level of safety and security. read more

We booked this hotel for the first time this year. I'm a very picky person because I have such high maintenance for everything. I typically would stay at a Hilton or something but there was none around and basically in my price range so I settled for Swiss Chalet. First thing, I wanted a pool. They opened their pool every morning around 9 AM til 8 PM. It was nice and it was great to have a table and lounger around to put our stuff on. We also had picnic benches and we cooked out and had dinner a few nights there. We stayed for 3 nights for Father's day weekend of 2016. Our room was nice. We had a King sized bed suite. The bathroom was always stocked and full of clean towels. And boy, we used a lot of towels because my family loved the pool and we went to Echo Lake as well. The staff was very attentive in supplying us lots of clean towels. The room DID NOT smell like other hotels I've been at in The White Mountains area. I actually liked it. The sheets were clean on the bed and they supplied us with new bed sheets every morning. The AC also worked great because it was during June when we went! I did like the continental breakfast. It was just a nice start to the morning and we didn't have to go out for breakfast. The only problem we had was we wished there was more trees and maybe the bathroom needed some updating. We also went in the game room and that place was falling apart. It needed some face lift there as well as the bathroom better WIFI. We couldn't use internet as much because our room was far away from the modem. read more
