The service I received from Legacy was outstanding! I have had ongoing issues with my Rinnai tankless hot water heater for over 5 1/2 years in my new home. I have had regular maintenance, cleaning, flushing, even including having a Controller installed on this fairly new unit, but I continued to have hot water problems. One time I had no hot water for eight days in a row. This past Tuesday I had guests; there was no hot water for showers, nor to wash dishes. I called Legacy Air and spoke with Leslie who was extremely helpful; plumber Alex Church came out soon after my call. Alex spent two hours troubleshooting the problem; he determined that when the unit was installed, the factory set program was never changed. He reprogrammed the factory default and disconnected the controller which I never needed. Alex did not charge me for this fantastic help, and he called me two days later to make sure that everything was working correctly. EDITED REVIEW: changing from 1 Star to 4.5 Stars (if there 1/2 Stars) :) While I had a negative experience 1 time out of roughly 3 years of service with this company, I realized no one is perfect, they made a mistake, and they made GOOD on it by having the GM contact me to work on a solution. We DID! I would recommend them and am keeping my maintenance agreement with them going forward. If you have an older unit that has outlived it's time, parting out fixes can buy you time, but eventually I know I will need a new system. Hope this helps if you are reading! read more

We were in Home Depot and saw a table at checkout promoting a $4 Heating and A/C tune-up special (normally $29), with a six-month no breakdown guarantee. At that price, how can you lose? Well, we found that out pretty quickly. After a little issue with scheduling (we booked for a weekend but they rescheduled for a weekday), the Legacy technician arrived, looked at our old furnace, and said he wasn't really familiar with the electronic filter, but everything seemed OK, no required maintenance or upgrades at this time. Two months later, the furnace was working sporadically, so we called back because of the "guarantee." The same technician came out, didn't fix anything, and said we could reset a switch and/or clean a sensor ourselves if it happened again. And, we were charged an appointment fee. After digging up the Home Depot flyers (see pics), we called back to say the visit should've been free based on the promotion. That started a series of calls with various people over a week saying they weren't familiar with the details of the promotion and they'd have to call us back. We even went back to Home Depot to speak to the salesperson (best attitude and customer service of all the people we talked to), and finally got a call back from a manager, who did issue a refund, but only after saying it like he was doing us a favor. Terrible experience overall. Absolutely not calling them for any future service or replacement needs. Two stars instead of one only because some of the people we talked to were nice, just not really helpful. read more

Initial insulation was amazing but when it came to following up on their maintenance plan, they flat on their face would not recommend this company. Lots of promises no follow up. We had a great experience with Brandon. We reserved a time from 8am-10am and he arrived no later than 8:30 which was perfect! They also called/texted updates with the time. Brandon was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. He gave us tips on how to maintain and what needed to be replaced or fixed asap in our heating system. Called to schedule for someone to take inspect an electrical outlet that is not working from Legacy Air, Plumbing and Electrical. Unsure about the service for HVAC & plumbing, but the electrical dept sucks. They scheduled the time frame from noon to 5pm. Received the notification of the appt (although the text they sent had weird numbering. That should've been a sign of incompetency). By 5pm, they never showed. Called dispatch and they informed me the technician went home. REALLY? No one bothered to contact me to notify of this cancellation? What a waste of time. Terrible way of conducting business. I will not be supporting a company that has no regards to their customers time. Disappointing. read more

I started the process of getting a quote from legacy. Their automated system told me that somebody would be able to come the next day. A minute later, they emailed me that they have no electricians working in the Reno area. How can they tell me that they're going to give me an appointment for a quote inspection and then tell me that they suddenly don't have anybody working in Reno? This is really a bad way to run a business and doing a service to people who try and get them to do what they advertise they will do. I totally do not recommend this company. read more

We needed a brand new system. We knew it was coming our home is in South Reno off of Mt Rose Hwy still had the original system it lasted 30 years!! So, about 2 weeks ago we had a hot day around 80 degrees went to turn on the AC and the fan was not coming on and not blowing cold air. We finally decided to get quoted for a new HVAC. We got quotes 2 years ago and the pricing was way too high around 23k-28k. Thankfully we waited pricing has dropped a little and we were able to get a good deal under 18k. So we signed on the dotted line. The install went flawless with the team here in Reno. They were wonderful, nice, answered any and all of our questions. Everything has been working flawlessly. After I call them, they transfer me to someone who tells me they schedule me for the las vegas (????) area, and that their electrical guy quit weeks ago lol I wish I was making this up. Lets just begin with the constant UPSELL. I had them do a hot water heater for me a year ago and they gave me a great price and did a good job. I called them last week to have them give me an estimate to replace a toilet supply line. What happened to the good ol' days of having a plumber come out, fix the issue and be done? No, its "we are sending out an estimator"... oh and its $99 for a QUOTE!!! the guy spends 30 minutes, under my house etc and then proceeds to try and sell my a package to have my entire house repiped, water filtration etc. I did not call you for that. I called for a toilet water supply line replacement. at which time i said I dont want new pipes. He then tells me they will call to schedule for MOnday. Mind you, i have 1 toilet in a multi person home. Not ideal. by end of the same day, NO CALL. So i call and im put on hold and told the scheduler Samantha will call me to schedule. Its Tuesday... still no call to schedule. I guess my toilet supply line project is just not $$$ enough for them and they cant be bothered to fix the issue. Thankfully, i have a firefighter neighbor that did it for FREE for me. This company is a joke. Unless you are spending big money, guess they dont want your business. My AC went out on Tuesday. Legacy gave me an appointment for the next day at 6:00 pm. Justin came out and I can't recommend him enough! He was so polite, patient, personable and professional! He explained everything to me me above and beyond. He diagnosed the bad capacitor within minutes and was able to replace it and get my AC running immediately. I signed up for the maintenance program which is a wonderful peace of mind for me that I will always have my AC and heater running smoothly. We were quoted $6600 for an assumed full days work. The job took no longer than one hour and we were not discounted any money. The quote included time, labor and the cost of replacement equipment. We didn't receive a full day of labor. At the very least we should have been credited that. We have a membership with Legacy that I am no longer interested in maintaining. We had a toilet wax ring that was discovered to be dripping by an HVAC tech who was Installing a new HVAC system for us. I called the Carson City Hoffman Plumbing office on a Friday morning as I had previously used them and was satisfied with their good work and fair pricing. I was told by the Hoffman Plumbing tech that came out to the house on that Friday afternoon that 7 months prior Legacy had purchased Hoffman Plumbing and the previous owner of Hoffman Plumbing was no longer with the company. When I booked the appointment for the tech I was told on the phone that there would be a $99 inspection fee that would be part of the total cost of the job if I elected to have the work done. The technician from Hoffman/Legacy was very professional. It took him a total of 30 minutes to replace the leaking wax ring on the base of the toilet after I showed him the video that the HVAC tech had taken while in the crawlspace of the drip. For the total 30 minutes that it took to remove the toilet, change the wax ring and reinstall the toilet I was charged $532. Needless to say for a 30 minute job being charged $532 I will never be using Hoffman/Legacy again or referring any of my friends to them. I live 20 minutes away from the Carson City office that I called for the installation. $532 for 30 minutes work installing a part with a retail cost of $5-$10 during normal business hours ??? read more

Techs nice with professional appearance. However, preventative maintenance resulted in me not having heat all wknd as insulation was moved around and a "part" was not making contact. I waited a full Saturday with no show, after 4 calls. Tech returned, fixed it, then left the filter in a state that created a LOUD rattle, indicating something was wrong (never had this issues in 6 yrs with my filters). The worst part is that the day of the no-show, the company was NEXT DOOR finishing an install, and though I said hello and that I was eager to see them, they LEFT, driving Minden to Reno, and never returned. POOR SCHEDULING. My water heater maintenance resulted in a leak, which can happen after draining the tank, but I was told there was no sediment, so it shouldn't have happened. Personal repair cost of $200 to fix what Legacy did, and a total at-home wait time of one full day plus an hour, as well as a full weekend using space heaters (at my cost) due to no-show. Our furnace went out unexpectedly. The condensation pan also over-flowed and flooded our living room by dripping through the ceiling for hours while we were not home. We called a couple of local HVAC companies, and couldn't get an appointment until the next day. Legacy showed up within an hour. We had a new furnace installed within 2 days. Almost charged me $3000 for a leak inspection and refrigerant top up with dye. Couldn't explain the ridiculous fixed price. Had another company come out and turned out all that was wrong was a capacitor that needed replacement. Even if my refrigerant needed a top up...$2600 for that service is robbery. Signed up for a "HVAC tune up" at Home Depot. Had a 2-4pm window on a specific day. No one called, no one showed up. I contacted their dispatch person at 3:55. On hold for 20 min waiting. Called back on another line. The dispatcher hung up on my original call to take my new call, not knowing it was me. He then called the technician and said he was in Gardnerville and would be coming out. I asked why I didn't get a call in advance to say he wasn't coming on time. Dispatcher agreed & said he understood. I cancelled the entire job. If they can't get the simplest thing right then what will happen if it's 2 am and my furnace goes out. I contacted Legacy for a bid on cleaning lint out my entire dryer. That's all. This was told to the person who answered my request and said no problem. TJ came out and rather than looking at my dryer, he "zoomed in" at my heating and a/c units. Legacy was running a special of $39 so i asked him to go ahead and to service my HVAC system. He was very thorough and educated me in AC/Heating equipment and showed me areas that will be of concern. While he was going thru the equipment he mentioned and brought me a flyer of a yearly 'membership' where they service the equipment & give discounts. In the end I told him I couldn't commit at this time. I felt TJ knew his 'stuff' and would hire him if he worked elsewhere. I wish at the time of my initial contact, the 'operator' should have told me that they do not service dryers and only work on HVAC systems. Please keep that in mind if you decide to contact them for clothes dryer service. When the time comes, I will definitely contact a different company and kudos to TJ but not Legacy. read more
