I visited Switchback Brewing in Burlington Vermont. They were founded in 2002 by Bill Cherry, who wanted to create beers that were unexpected, great-tasting, and relatable. Switchback's beers are carbonated during fermentation by the yeast itself, and the brewery uses specially designed fermenters to capture the last 24 hours of CO2 produced. After aging, the beers are moved to kegs or bottles without being filtered, which Switchback says results in a fresher, fuller, and more natural flavor. I actually had a beer from their offshoot / side project brand, Askew, and a mainstay from the brewery. Rime & Reason: A Cold IPA with the crispness of a lager but the nice freshness of a Hazy IPA that was hopped with Alora hops. Nice notes of bright fruits like apricot and peach. Extra Pale Ale (XPA): A Pale Ale that leans into the hops due to the usage of lots of whole cone hops of Centennial, Chinook, and Cascade. Nice and bitter, good crispness, and the hops are well expressive of the traditional American hops you expect. The malt bill isn't too heavy, but does provide some balance to the hop bitterness. _____

Had a flight to try out their brews. Brew was good. Some tasted pretty ordinary but I liked the classic switchback ale. We came here on a weekend but I imagine it's busier in the evenings.

Veggie burger, brisket burger, collared greens which aren't

I had a great veggie burger and my husband had a brisket burger. He also got collared greens which aren't always easy to find. He raved about both and the addition of IPAs which he hasn't had from Switchback before.

Caesar salad, wings and Cabot mac & cheese!

Relaxed environment with very friendly and attentive staff! The food is delicious and we had the cocktails which were equally delicious! Prices are very reasonable and they do half price wings on Thursdays!

It's a good brewery. Doesn't really have a unique feel but does hit the modern for a modern local brewery. The OG Switchback Ale is very good.

    espresso MT and switchback

Switchback brew is always a must stop at when we are visiting Vermont! Their beers are so good and their food is delicious. The servers and bartenders were really friendly and helpful with menu questions. This was our first time at the newly renovated building and it's so nice!! We can't wait to come back.

Good place. Tiny food menu. But the beer is good and the people are cool. Plus, Vermont. Recommend.

    Do you sell growlers?

Thanks for the question, Bill! We do not offer growlers, but we do have bottles & cans of pretty much everything we have on draught with a few exceptions. Hope to see you in the Tap Room soon!

Overall WAY overpriced for the quantity/quality ratio!! The Malbec was GREAT and passion fruit margarita (B+\A-) but needs more alcohol for the price. C'mon!! The folks working here are helpful and friendly and LOVE the overall vibe (chill, friendly, welcoming, dog friendly, tree shaded). Music volume on the outside patio is better this visit. 1 star deduction for lack of value

A sister restaurant to Foam Brewers!…read more We spent a weekend in Burlington, VT visiting breweries, wine bars, a comedy show, eating, shopping and it was wonderful. Deep City was a recommendation for brunch from a local. It is the sister restaurant to Foam Brewers (right next door). When we walked in there was a small wait but not bad. We headed over to the brewery to grab coffee and to check it out. It is definitely a cool spot. They have a huge selection of beer, a small wine program (who knew) and small bites. Unfortunately they did not have TVs or else we would've come back to watch the football game but we did purchase some beer before heading back over for brunch at Deep City. The menu here is a little more Mexican-forward think Huevos Rancheros, but there was still plenty of items that looked appealing. We split the banana bread with maple walnut cream cheese (to die for) to share as an app which was fresh and delicious. I also ordered a fruit cup which was also good. We then shared their Huevos Verdes which is similar to Huevos Rancheros except it came with a tomatillo salsa. It was good but very sloppy to eat. Overall it was a great experience, and service was phenomenal. A great brunch place while visiting Burlington VT.
