I needed him to sign off on a utility rebate and he never got back pretty much costing me over $500. When I tried on my own to replace my dining room halogen lightbulb and dimmer switch and saw smoke coming out of the lamp, I thought OK, it's time to call in a professional. Excellent service all around! Seth was prompt in responding to my inquiry/request for service to replace a light fixture. I reached out to 5 electricians to compare pricing and availability and he was the only one to raise a potential concern given the old age of our building. But what is most striking is his honesty and integrity. Last week I had inquired about getting my garage fitted for an EV quick charger. I have an older home and figured it may be costly. But I realized that I had a dryer outlet in the garage and asked him if that could be outfitted with a quick charger. After some questions he realized that I already had a receptacle for a quick charger and that I could just buy one without having him come in for an installation. I was happy with that, but even if he knew I did not need to hire him, he actually passed by the house just to make sure the proper wiring was installed, without charging me. Forced to write a review because the service was, well non existent. They came over to our office to give us an estimate for lighting and told us to email them with the type of lighting we wanted. That was 2 weeks ago. Since then I've emailed three times, called them multiple times with no response to my emails or phone-calls. What's the point of coming all the way to give an estimate if you're not willing to actually complete the job. I have nothing but nice things to say about Switched Electric. I will be using their services and recommending them to anyone looking for an electrician in my area. Today I called them up because I was having issues with my lights flickering on and off. I suspected the issue was because of the dimmers that were installed before we moved in. I called Switched Electric and they offered me service the next business day. I had to work the next day so I asked if they had anything for the same day I was calling. The friendly people of Switched Electric went out of their way to make my small problem a high priority and got someone out in just a few hours. Awesome! The licensed electrician came out and let me know that my problem was that I was using florescent bulbs with non florescent dimmers. Additionally I had one outlet with a dimmer that was getting very hot. He let me know that the wattage was too high for dimmer and that I should consider replacing the bulbs to a lower wattage or up the dimmer capacity. He suggested I try the inexpensive way of replacing the bulbs first and he'd get me a quote on the replacement just in case we decided to go with option two. I started at my wallet when he let me know that the services he provided today were free! He was there to provide me with a quote and the extra information was a courtesy. I'm not sure about everyone else, but I tend to find that any information/help always costs something. The technician was more concerned with providing me with excellent service then trying to squeeze a quick buck. To me, this is SOOOOO refreshing. I'm likely going to replace the dimmer with the higher wattage one and this is the company I'm going to use to do it. Seth was great! We called him out to our home to see how much it would be to put an electrical outlet on the outside of our home. He said he could come the next day and even called saying he could come earlier than our appointment time. He spent a good amount of time at our house explaining where the best place would be to put it, and even gave us some good recommendations on security cameras to install on the outside of our home. He said due to a flat tire earlier that morning he couldn't do it same day but would come the next day. Sure enough, he showed up at our scheduled time and had it out it within an hour. Seth and his crew recently did a service upgrade on my home, from 30 amp to 100 amp service and that included removing the old one fuse outside box, to a new multi panel breaker box. The price was reasonable as in comparison to a couple of other contractors I'd had give me estimates for the same job. Seth arrived on the arranged date with the required permitts and contact with PG&E had already been arranged. Seth came to my house to move to electric plugs over about 3 ft. One of the plugs was for a dryer which he told me he needed to buy a new cord and install a 4 plug instead of the current 3 plug. The new cord he put in was too short and was stretched out hanging mid air. I told him the cord was too short and he stated he would swap it out after his vacation as he was leaving for a week. I told him that was fine. while he was gone I text him to let him know I had a oven plug I needed installed also so I wanted to let him know so he could plan to do both on the same day. He did not respond back which was fine as I knew he was on vacation. I expected to hear from him when he got back . last l spoke to him it was August 26th. It is now Sept 23rd. I have text his work number twice, emailed him twice, left 2 phone messages and text his personal number. no response on any of them. I made it clear if he didn't have time to please let me know either way. still no response. I now have to pay another electrician to buy a new cord and install it after I already paid Seth $700.00. He was very professional and nice but his lack of response is very disappointing and unprofessional. I would have recommended him highly but anyone that can't take a few seconds to respond back and doesn't keep his word about coming back and fixing something he's been paid for isn't worth it. I always try to treat others how I would expect to be treated and I always hope others would go the same but unfortunately that is not the case with Switched Electric. read more
