50 cent boneless wings on Wednesday (their homemade ranch is awesome!)
    Camie T.

Such a cool unique spot connected to a gas station. The staff is always very friendly and the food is delicious! We love coming for their 50 cent wing night on Wednesday, they also serve $1 Busch lights on Wednesday too! Love this spot

The food and service were less than satisfactory. We should have just grabbed snacks from the gas station next door.

Some friends ordered drinks while we waited for the last member of our group for a while, but once we all had sat down and ordered entrees, she treated us better. Staff was knowledgeable about gluten allergy and dairy needs, which helped me a lot! There were several options I could have on the dinner menu and I ended up having a burger (no fries--no dedicated fryer) and a salad with chickpeas. Both were excellent! The atmosphere is interesting. It gets busy in there and it's a pretty open space, so can be kind of loud. But you can watch the kitchen a bit from certain tables and there's a large fireplace on one wall. If I'm in the area again, I'd definitely enjoy another dinner here!

Stopped here for a break and lunch while passing through Indiana. The Farmhouse Restaurant menu…read moresaid they offer a "quick & casual lunch" and well, they weren't lying about the casual part... We ordered two lunches, both the 1/2 grilled cheese and soup. One with tomato soup and the other with chili. We also ordered the *special* $5 egg salad sandwich. The grilled cheese came out as some cheese microwaved between a soft burger bun. Really disappointing and crappy. The chili and soup were okay. The egg salad sandwich was very basic and lacking flavor, served on classic white bread. It was also a weird dining setup, it felt like we were eating in a giant and deserted beer hall. Total transparency: we both expected more from one of the nation's largest dairy farms. We also thought the food would be a little cleaner, like a farm-to-table experience and less processed, but it tasted like food we could get at a gas station. My husband was disappointed with the ice cream selection at the milk bar, he was hoping for more of a variety other than the basic strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, etc. We also needed to get DEF for our truck from the Fair Oaks BP and my husband called it "highway robbery" for the cost we paid. He said it was 2 or 3 times what he normally pays. In summary, a total tourist trap with crappy lunch food. I also didn't know about their animal abuse case from 2019 until after we left. And the allegations about neglect and improper slaughter in 2023. Gross and sad.

It looked like reservations are highly recommended if you're planning to dine in. The ambience was elegant, calm, and intimate, and the service was hard-working, cheerful, and accommodating. Our large group ordered a variety of drinks, and not a single person was disappointed. I can personally vouch for the espresso martini and the Fashioned in Apple; both perfectly suited my tastes. For dessert, a friend ordered the chocolate mousse while I chose the Yule Log. The presentation was gorgeous and delicate, and of course, they were delicious. Now I just need to come back to try the food. The prices might sting a bit, but I have a feeling my taste buds will convince me it's worth it.

A quick tip: definitely call ahead for a reservation. The dining area is small but cozy, offering a really intimate vibe. The cocktails were fantastic, and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. The food? Outstanding. You can tell the owner knows a thing or two about authentic flavors--probably from time spent traveling and living abroad. I really appreciated how true the dishes stayed to their roots. The semi-open kitchen was also a great touch--it shows they're confident in their craft and proud of what they're serving. I'm not usually big on desserts, but wow. Honestly, they might be more known for their desserts than the entrees, but both were amazing. What really pulls it all together is the service--attentive, thoughtful, and full of personality. That's what makes this place special.

Mr. Benny's calls itself a "steak and lobster house" - and it is. Unlike places that throw lobster…read morein their menu or in their name, the lobster at Mr. Benny's was outstanding. My wife had the lobster and filet mignon (medium) - the filet could be cut with a fork. The lobster tail was fresh, cooked perfectly, and outstanding. My Delmonico - a cut that you don't see too often, so I ordered it thinking they must really specialize in it - was over done (I ordered medium rare, it came out medium) and a little tough. Mr. Benny's is an "old school" place - and while restaurants like to claim that quaint charm, it could use some updating. What it really means is they don't want to spend money removing the million faux crystal lights, mirrors, and brass-everything, and change out the dingy carpet. It feels trapped in time, but not the right time; like desperately in need of fresh paint and new carpet 1987, not 1967 when it opened. Hence the 4 stars instead of 5. Notably, this place is in MOKENA. It would stand on its own and do well in downtown Chicago, and you will not find a better steakhouse in the southwest suburbs. Not Jack Gibbons Gardens, Cut 158 in Joliet is its equal but much nicer inside (albeit pricier), it's similar to Al's in Joliet, and better than Primal Cut in Tinley. I have been several times and plan to return (next time I'll get the lobster too!)
