The fourth ordered a seafood broiler plate. They have so many sides to choose from and definitely tasty ones! I had the steamed veggies, excellent, and the loaded mashed potatoes, another good choice. I had the steak tips done rare, they were a bit chewy and over marinated but the portion was generous. My husband lived his, done medium, although he's never had steak tips before. I like that nice char on the outside, what it was missing. We had Creme Brulee for dessert, very good! I was able to take my mother out here for Mother's Day and we enjoyed a nice meal together. They were very accommodating and our server was prompt and pleasant. My mother usually gets the Cobb salad-it's her standby and highly rated. This time, she was such a rebel - she went for fajitas instead! She had a choice of chicken, steak, shrimp, or a combo-she went for chicken. The serving was generous and quite good! I went for chicken piccata as I haven't had it in a while. The medallions of chicken breast were tender and flavorful, covered in a slightly lemony piccata sauce. The rice pilaf was good and the spinach was wonderfully wilted-yum! This is a great spot right near the mall and the Danvers Logan Express. It was packed when I walked in, and mostly because of the bowling group I was meeting up with. They're a raucous bunch! Bartender provided me with an iced tea quickly upon request. It looked like everyone's drinks were flowing nicely and food was being served quickly. I definitely will come back to try their food! Great time and service. We had a nice table in the back with friends. The bar area was jam packed and loud as to be expected, but the other dining rooms were less noisy with more space. friend recommended this place to us... we ate in the bar area which is self seated. Lively atmosphere with a good amount of people for a weekday night. We ordered the zucchini sticks, steak fajitas and the sirloin. Good size portions for everything, but the sirloin had more of a hamburger consistency. We really liked the dipping sauces for the zucchini sticks. Ended the night with a Samoa inspired martini and chocolate brownie sundae. My family and I went there for the second time for Easter brunch. The food was just as delicious as it was last year. The staff was phenomenal in the server we had was absolutely wonderful. My husband and I arrived here at 6:30 on a Saturday evening, and it was packed. People were waiting for a table. We were fortunate to nab a booth in the bar area. Our waitress was very nice and efficient. The bartender made me a great Cosmo. I had the fried chicken dinner that came with mashed potatoes and string beans. And my husband had the Southwestern salad topped with grilled chicken. Both meals were delicious and plentiful, and affordable. My drink was $12, and our entree was $17. We will be back. Been here over a dozen times and this is the first bad food experience we had. Order the Quiche, Onion soup and Fish tacos. We were there for lunch. All three were subpar. The Quiche was made with Ricotta or Cottage cheese, not real cheese. Although menu stated cheddar cheese, it was not cheddar cheese. If it was cheddar it was bad cheese. It tasted awful. My wife said it was the worse Quiche she ever had. The Onion soup had no onions, it was essentially just a broth with cheese, pretty disappointing. The fish taco, although had plenty of tacos, it had no flavor. It was just fish put on top of some filling. The taco are good value but had no taste. Considering the number of times we've been here, this experience was not good. Don't know if they had new a chef or a bad day, but it was pretty disappointing. read more

Met friends for dinner on a Friday night. This place gets very busy and doesn't take reservations. There's two distinctly different parts of the restaurant- the room with the bar with lots of tables and a large bar area. It's loud, active and fun but we chose the other- back area which is much quieter and better for conversations. Our server was great- very attentive, responsive and friendly. SSG has a huge menu and also specials. I also appreciated the large draft menu- great selection. The wine menu was also quite varied. Friends split fajitas which were tasty, though not sizzling. The California wrap was tasty but missing avocados. The Sylvan Street Panini- grilled chicken, roasted peppers with mozzarella was fresh and delicious. I went there for the first time with my friend and her father. He got the scallop pie with baked potato and mixed vegetables. He was very satisfied. (At 95 he is sometimes hard to please). My friend and I both got the haddock plate which comes with fries, onion rings and cole slaw. Very good. There was enough left for a 2nd meal. The only minor complaint I have is the tartar sauce was very runny. We had a fantastic server, and I wish I could remember her name. Great meal, good time and great service. read more

As I first walked in the door the place was completely packed . I was very impressed that atmosphere the staff extremely nice . Sat down ordered a pasta and chicken dish a bowl of clam chowder and lobster quesadillas . The lobster quesadillas had absolutely no flavor . The pasta chicken dish was extremely watery not sauce had to order a side of sauce to make it more palatable . And the bull of clam chowder was the size of a cup the kind that you would find in a hospital . Phenomenal customer service, food was very ok! Parking is decent, if it were a packed house, then parking would be difficult. The staff were amazing, I had a server who was very attentive, and would continually checkup on me. I didn't enjoy the food as much as but even when I expressed that, my server tried to ask what they could adjust or change in the moment to help which was amazing, and I've never had someone do that before which is nice! I got the turkey burger which consisted of avocado and egg, the texture was very strange, and I didn't finish it. I also got their garlic mashed potatoes to which I couldn't taste the garlic and they were just very dry, and I also didn't finish it. The highlight was dessert which was a cute little creme brûlée. Everything comes in huge portions something to keep in mind when ordering entrees. The service alone was enough to keep me curious about this space, I will return, and try a different set of food when I do. read more

She's personable and so kind and she works her ass off. I noticed a bad review on here from a person and I don't know if this woman has some mental issues or what but there's no way Lauren is any of those things she wrote! I'd bet my life on it! My husband and I have been ordering from Sylvan Street Grille for a while now. Sometimes we order two times per week. I am a cancer patient and some days I'm too tired to cook. We've had our food delivered or we do pick up. However lately, far too many times when we get our order home, some items that we've ordered and paid for have not been included in the package. And sometimes when we order my favorite, the quiche of the day, they've run out of it by the afternoon. We really love the food at Sylvan Street Grille, but this has happened too often to overlook. My husband works two shifts to pick up the slack for me not being able to work since I was diagnosed with leukemia, T cell lymphoma and multiple myeloma. He's exhausted and hungry and this is inexcusable and happens fat to often. I've spoken with the front desk people and a manager and they always say, we'll have to speak to the people in the kitchen. Mistakes do happen, but not this often. As much as we like the food here, we won't be ordering from Sylvan Street Grille again. read more

Stopped here on the way running errands, having seen how crowded the parking lot can get. The French Onion soup is awesome, the clam chowder is good but wasn't outstanding. The chicken wings were meaty and hot, though not as tasty or crispy. The stuffed potato skins were great and a lot. Service was good and fast and attentive. Love the SSG! It's a regular spot for my friends and I and we always sit at the bar. The bartenders are great and they make sure everyone has what they need. I went to the drag show the other night and it was by far, my best experience at Sylvan. The other music nights outside are fun but this was the BEST and every person there seemed to love it. I wish this happened more often but so glad I didn't miss it. *** also, saw a bad review about a bartender named Lauren. As a regular customer who sees Lauren often, I don't think I have ever seen her be rude, unpleasant or even negative to anyone. I arrived early but was seated while I waited for my boyfriend. I was seated inside next to the patio with a wonderful view of the waterfall. Our waitress Mel was very attentive while I waited and even offered to bring some delicious bread and oil while I waited. I was only going to have one, but before I knew it the plate was empty! Mel immediately offered to bring more (which I had her put on the other side of the table). One of the drinks had Aperol which I had never heard of. When I asked Mel about the flavor, she asked the other waitstaff. When they didn't know, she went to the bartender who gave her a taste. She came back saying it had a bitter finish, but should be fine in the fruity drink I was thinking of ordering. It was delicious! My boyfriend arrived and he ordered the oriental salad and I had the seafood broil with rice pilaf and an upgrade to the asparagus. Everything was delicious, but I am super picky about seafood and it didn't taste as fresh as it could have been. Overall, a great place to go with reasonable prices. We absolutely love Sylvan Street Grille (being Danvers locals, you have to don't you?). Whenever we are stuck on where to go out, Sylvan Street seems to be our go-to. They have an extensive menu ranging from your typical bar bites and apps to more 'fancy' sit-down dinner dishes. Lots of options for vegetarians, and lots of good drinks too! My personal favorites include their potat-choes, the veggie wrap, and any of their salads. You really can't go wrong here. Their service is always great, and they have ample parking and space to sit inside. It is a great place to watch a game and eat some snacks, or bring the whole family for dinner. The Sylvan Street Grille has a nice location but they seem entirely unable to cook food well, there's always an element of poor workmanship. For example, I went with a guest recently and ordered the fried chicken dinner. The entire plate was cold. It was a lot of effort to get the waitress to heat it up. The gravy was just floured water, really bad. The green beans were so undercooked, they were almost raw. The cold mashed potatoes were water logged and tasteless, not to mention saturated with potato skins. The fried chicken lacked any seasoning and the fried batter was soft and moist, the opposite of what it's supposed to be, so the entire meal was very poorly prepared. Lastly, I ordered a martini. It came out NOT COLD, also the opposite of how it's supposed to be. I don't think I'll be going back. read more

After a few minutes, our drinks and appetizers arrived, so we ordered our main dishes. The appetizers were hot and tasty. Everyone received their food except for one person. The waitress returned and apologized for forgetting to put in their order. She promptly submitted it, and the dish came out fairly quickly.
