    Southern BLT
    Matt P.

I stopped by with two friends after work around 4 PM for an early dinner. We were able to get a table immediately due to beating the evening rush. The restaurant was massive, with two separate dining areas and multiple bars. It seems like the kind of place you could stop by after work and sit at the bar to have a drink and grab dinner solo. I ordered the southern BLT which was a fried green tomato, bacon, fresh arugula, and aioli on toasted sourdough bread, served with shoestring fries. The BLT was light, despite having a thick, fried slice of green tomato. I wish there had been a bit more aioli. My friends enjoyed their pulled pork sammie and Texas cheesesteak bomb sandwich. The real winner of the entire table were the Italian egg rolls that we got as an appetizer: mortadella, capicola, prosciutto, fontina cheese, vinegar peppers, EVOO, and balsamic reduction. I would order these every time at Sam Walker's. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and would return.

This is a good addition to Vinnin Square. Since it's new, it's very popular. Staff is friendly, but service was awful. We had a visibly disabled person with us and they still tried to seat us in the back. Our server was friendly, but after she took our order, she disappeared. It took almost 40 minutes for food to arrive. We had to check with management. Even after all that time, my order still came out incorrect. They remade my chicken sandwich, but it was pretty bland. The Mac and cheese needed more cheese sauce. My folks enjoyed their grilled cheese. The food was lukewarm, so it had obviously been sitting. Cocktail list was underwhelming. I understand this place just opened, but I'd not return.

sam walker's american tavern is a new restaurant & bar in common square, part of their large remodel. i was in the area, and decided to give it a try, and i'm glad i did! i try to get into restaurants when they are new before the quality doesn't stand to the test of time, in general. this i sat at the bar and came in for the steak tips, but a woman next to me had ordered their cajun chicken pasta which i was also eye-ing on the menu. she said it was really good, and the bartender, timmy, said he gets it almost every day & it's good for leftovers too. the cajun chicken pasta was really delicious, packed with a ton of flavor, even though it doesn't look like it from the ingredients on the menu. i think it could use a little more veggies, maybe some peppers or something, but it was the perfect amount of spicy, not too much or too little. there were a few tiny pieces of sausage but not much. i was told the chicken was blackened but i didn't find that to be the case. i added parmesan cheese because it didn't have a ton of cheese flavor. overall, i still really liked it, just thought it could use a few tweaks. i ordered a sorry ms. jackson cocktail since i loved all the ingredients, and it was very good. timmy is a great bartender & attentive. cajun chicken pasta 8.2/10 sorry ms. jackson 10/10 overall, i'm surprised to give a tavern such a high rating, but i can't deny that the drinks and food were delicious. it is very big inside, very packed and very loud. i will return, and i'd recommend you check it out if you're in the area. ambiance: 4.7/5 drinks: 5/5 food: 4.1/5 service: 4.7/5 sam walker's american tavern: 4.6/5

Excellent place to stop for lunch. It was busy on a Sunday afternoon but we made a reservation so got seated right away. We never made it past the appetizers and wound up sharing a couple apps which were all delicious. My favorite was the guacamole. Service was friendly and attentive, we were impressed with how quickly the food came out. Loved the special St. Patrick's Day menu.

Great Drinks, really good brunch menu and solid food. Parking can be a bit of an issue. Fairly loud inside. Definitely make a reservation.

Tried this new restaurant today and it was good. They were on a brunch menu, and everything we got was delish. The place is big with 2 bar areas. We scheduled a reservation, service was good a little slow but that might be due to being new, yet gave us time to relax and chat. We ordered the Italian egg rolls, they were amazing, highly recommend!! Entree orders were hot chicken sandwich, buffalo chicken pizza, Nashville chicken and waffles (spicy HOT) but so good, and harvest salad with added chicken. Nice portions on all the meals. Will definitely be back.

We just went in and dropped a worthy $80 on lunch - 2 tequila mules, a special of buffalo bites (if u are lucky and these are on special again - order them!). Chicken kabob sandwich - juicy, perfectly grilled chicken and my husband got the mouth-watering pastrami sandwich. We packed half of it up for dinner tonight. I only gave 4 stars due to the lousy, noisy, raunchy bar flies. They couldn't care less about other customers as they were shouting and cussing away. Having a conversation with my husband was impossible. The bartender, who was 5 stars in her service to us, attempted to remind these people to stop yelling. I understand being a local, as I am one, and it makes me want to keep my favorite places in business. However, disruptive and rude bar flies should be shut out ff earlier and asked to leave or at the very least pipe down. Ultimately, I highly recommend anyone local or out of town to try The Tin Whistle for the food and service. Maybe try one of the tall comfy wooden booths would make for a better atmosphere.

However, I must say, I was very pleasantly surprised with everything we had. The National Dish of Denmark (stegt flæsk) was incredible, the dumplings were jam packed with meat, and the Chinese Churros hit the spot. We came in about 50 minutes before closing and stayed long after, but the service was fantastic the whole time. We were thanked by the owner for coming in and were told that staying late was expected and well welcomed. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and the music was a lot of fun. The restaurant faces the shore, so expect lovely views, especially around the golden hour. Overall, this place is an absolute gem. Nothing felt gimmicky, everything was thoughtfully prepared. The ambiance is outstanding. Walking in, it felt like one of the better spots I've dined in Boston proper or New York. The space has real character. Our server Lou was exceptional. First-timers at a tapas-style restaurant, and he made sure we understood the portions, guided us through choices we weren't sure about, and kept us from over-ordering. That level of attentiveness makes a difference. The food was outstanding. The broccoli alone (yes, broccoli) was a standout. The ahi tuna and rice cake were equally impressive. My martini was perfectly executed. The owner came by, introduced himself, and actually spent time with each table. That kind of engagement from ownership tells you everything about the place's standards. I'm already planning my return to work through the rest of the menu. Whether it's a full dinner or just drinks and a snack, Njord Haven is worth the trip.

The host welcomed me right away while attending other guests. I waited for my table for about 15 minutes. Not too bad being that the place was packed! In the summertime they have an outside patio area which helps with the capacity of people. So I get seated. Looked at the menu which was nicely done. I ordered a tequila sunrise to get the day going (don't judge me! ) after about 5 minutes my drink was brought to me. With such great service I thought I was gonna be ok for an amazing brunch... I wasn't! ‍ I ordered the Boston Omelette (steak tips, onions, mushrooms, peppers, and cheese). The dish came with home fries and toast. I declined the toast because I always ordered a side of pancakes with banana, strawberries, and blueberries! Even though the place was packed. The kitchen was pumping out the orders! The food came within 10 minutes. The presentation looked delicious. But after the first bite of my omelette, I knew we had an issue. The steak (or lack there of!) had not seasoning or flavor to it. Nor did the home fries! Very basic! I had to put a lot of salt and pepper to try and enjoy either item... I didn't even finish the dish. I moved onto the pancakes because they looked delicious. Whomp whomp! Another let down! The only good thing about the meal was then tequila sunrise drink! Would've expected more from this place flavor wise!
