    Cioppenio

Would have given this place three stars if it wasn't so expensive. For 150 bucks for 2 people, I expect better quality. The food wasn't bad. It was passable. The Cioppino was pretty good actually. But I could get it anywhere. My wife ordered the sea bass special. It was billed as coming with a peach bourbon sauce. There was no sauce. And the blackened coating had little flavor. No hits of peach or bourbon but for the 3 peach slices. The side of veg was the medley you buy in bulk from Sam's club to steam on weeknights. None of it was the gourmet quality you expect at that price. The service was flawless. No complaints there. The atmosphere was blah. It smelled kind of moldy with no windows or airflow in the area where we were seated. It was well lit and the tables were white cloth covered and freshly made. Bottom line: you can get far better for this price. You can even get far better for half the price in this area.

Always a good meal and often a GREAT one! Leave room for dessert and don't be afraid to eat at the bar...it's a good crowd.

Their extensive menu offered many tempting choices, but we were especially delighted to find one of our favorites--broasted chicken, which has become increasingly difficult to find in restaurants we vist across the country. We shared the broasted chicken dinner with broasted roast potatoes and cole slaw, and absolutely loved every bite. Both the chicken and potatoes were perfectly cooked--crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and bursting with flavor. We also enjoyed the delicious meatball and sausage, which were equally satisfying. Our server and the manager were welcoming, friendly, and professional, adding to the warm atmosphere and making our visit even more enjoyable. My husband loved the majestic bear on site, too! We were also impressed to learn that Pizza Oven/Papa Bear's has been family-owned since 1956 and continues to make everything from scratch. We learned that they do a lot of catering, including for the Pro Football of Fame. Even better, we discovered that they have nine Pizza Oven locations throughout the region, making it easy to enjoy their specialties no matter where you happen to be in Ohio. Although we would have loved to bring back some of the tempting deli items and prepared foods from the adjacent Pizza Oven, our hotel refrigerator simply wasn't large enough. That's just one more reason to return! We are already looking forward to another visit so we can sample additional menu favorites at Papa Bear's and take advantage of the wonderful offerings next door as well. Whenever you're near Canton, Ohio, Papa Bear's Italian Restaurant is definitely worth a stop. Highly recommended!

She loves their food and even told sweet stories about mama guzzardi giving out flowers to mothers on mother's day when she was still with us. We used to eat here at least once a week growing up. I've only been a handful of times since their remodel and the ambiance is definitely different. It's not so much a cute little Italian spot as it feels like a collab with a sports bar. We do miss the walls of old pictures, but also understand growth and wanting to change with the times. We went for mother's day, and it was absolutely beautiful outside. One of their more recent renovations was their front patio, so we decided to indulge. We had a reservation for 1pm, and didn't tell our mom where we were going. We got to the restaurant at 1, and my mom was delighted. We weren't sat until 1:10, but also understand it was mother's day, they were busy. We sat outside and didn't see a server until about 1:25. Again, they were busy we understood. When the server came out, we knew what we wanted because we had plenty of time to look at the menu. We ordered food and drinks. We then didn't see our server with drinks until 1:45. We were very hungry at this point and asked if we could have our bread (we love their bread- it's a staple)! Our server ensured us it was just coming out of the oven and he'd bring it right out. We then didn't see our food until about 2:05 (and no bread was brought in the meantime). Our server wasn't even the one to bring our food out, it was a young girl. She gave us our plates and said "wow, you guys don't have anything out here". We expressed that we'd been here for over an hour, our drinks were empty, we didn't have cheese or crushed red pepper, we never got bread. She apologized and got us all refills and bread. We then see our server come out at around 2:15 and ask if we needed anything. Our food was gone at this point because we were starving and they didn't even bring out the extra sauce until we asked. We literally ate dry pasta because we had waited so long. While he was there, we asked for the check as to not prolong the whole experience even longer. I went in to use the restroom and the once full restaurant was empty, because so many people had come and gone in the time it took us to just get our food. All in all, it was just sad because we love mama guzzardi's. My sister and mom went back the following week and had amazing service from a different young man. He was attentive and they were in and out. It's disappointing that mother's day was the day they decided to drop the ball as we were trying to have a special day with our mom. The food is amazing and we want to support the small business, but we highly advise to never sit on the patio.

We arrived five minutes early but were promptly seated. Our sever was adequate but not real personable. After being seated we were moved to another table but that is fine. Our food arrived within fifteen minutes which is quick in my opinion. I ordered Eggplant Parmesan with Penne pasta. We started with bread and dipping oil. The bread was soft and not made in house and the oil was good. The eggplant was crispy, warm and good although a little soggy in the middle. The pasta was warm at best and there was some dried sauce on top. The pasta was done but needed more sauce. All in all it was just okay. My wife ordered Boston Scrod and said it was as cold and had some seasoning on it. She added it did not have a lot of taste. The pasta that she ordered with the Scrod was cold. The other couple we were with received a sausage Stromboli which was not the original version they ordered. The restaurant just opened so they may be working out their processes, I don't know.

We ended up just coming in the next day to try it, and I'm glad we did. First off, all our food was great and was presented well. I love paying for great food and this place is worth every dollar we spent. Came out fast, hot and delicious. We got the Stuffed Mushrooms, Garden Salad, Pesto gnocchi ( omg ) and my partner got the Drizz (?) My Gnocchi was wonderful, I'm also a sucker for Pesto and Gnocchi, I would get again. The stuffed mushrooms were fantastic, never had them with Sausage before. I liked the house made Italian dressing so much I asked for some to take home and they humored me. I went to Costco later and picked up everything to make a salad just for this dressing. He liked his sandwich, he normally does not like coleslaw but he said it worked and liked it a lot. Our waitress ( sorry I didn't get your name ) was like a ninja. She had multiple tables and I didn't feel like she neglected us. The service is fast and accurate. The place is small, but I like how lowkey and cozy it is. My partner is pretty tall and he said he didn't feel uncomfortable and liked how quiet it was. Honestly this place is great and everyone should give it a try, we're already planning our next visit. This place put the other Italian places around it to shame in every category. We did notice when we got home on the receipt we were charged 10.50 for side salads, they should have been $3.00 each per the menu when added with a meal, so we were over charged $4.50.
