Okay, I love mama guzzardi's. I grew up coming here when I was a little girl with my family. My siblings and I are now adults, and we wanted to surprise our mom for mother's day. She loves their food and even told sweet stories about mama guzzardi giving out flowers to mothers on mother's day when she was still with us. We used to eat here at least once a week growing up. I've only been a handful of times since their remodel and the ambiance is definitely different. It's not so much a cute little Italian spot as it feels like a collab with a sports bar. We do miss the walls of old pictures, but also understand growth and wanting to change with the times. We went for mother's day, and it was absolutely beautiful outside. One of their more recent renovations was their front patio, so we decided to indulge. We had a reservation for 1pm, and didn't tell our mom where we were going. We got to the restaurant at 1, and my mom was delighted. We weren't sat until 1:10, but also understand it was mother's day, they were busy. We sat outside and didn't see a server until about 1:25. Again, they were busy we understood. When the server came out, we knew what we wanted because we had plenty of time to look at the menu. We ordered food and drinks. We then didn't see our server with drinks until 1:45. We were very hungry at this point and asked if we could have our bread (we love their bread- it's a staple)! Our server ensured us it was just coming out of the oven and he'd bring it right out. We then didn't see our food until about 2:05 (and no bread was brought in the meantime). Our server wasn't even the one to bring our food out, it was a young girl. She gave us our plates and said "wow, you guys don't have anything out here". We expressed that we'd been here for over an hour, our drinks were empty, we didn't have cheese or crushed red pepper, we never got bread. She apologized and got us all refills and bread. We then see our server come out at around 2:15 and ask if we needed anything. Our food was gone at this point because we were starving and they didn't even bring out the extra sauce until we asked. We literally ate dry pasta because we had waited so long. While he was there, we asked for the check as to not prolong the whole experience even longer. I went in to use the restroom and the once full restaurant was empty, because so many people had come and gone in the time it took us to just get our food. All in all, it was just sad because we love mama guzzardi's. My sister and mom went back the following week and had amazing service from a different young man. He was attentive and they were in and out. It's disappointing that mother's day was the day they decided to drop the ball as we were trying to have a special day with our mom. The food is amazing and we want to support the small business, but we highly advise to never sit on the patio. read more

As I have more recently went to Mama Guzzardi's, i have come to the conclusion that i will not be going here anymore. This was a tough choice to make as my family has been going to this restaurant for decades. The lasagna was absolutely disgusting and the portion size was significantly smaller than usual. She made us feel like we were the cousins they had been waiting family dinner for. We went tonight for dinner after seeing a Tik Tok review and we were sorely disappointed. They weren't super busy but the service wasn't very speedy. She was absolutely pleasant though. They were out of their Wednesday special Chicken Parm before they even opened for the day. Our friend got the Baked Ziti and there was no cheese on it and it was NOT baked. It was cooked and thrown on the plate. My girlfriend got Chicken Alfredo and when it originally came out there was no chicken on it at all. Then when it came back out, the Alfredo sauce was very watery and puddled at the bottom of the plate and barely stayed on the pasta. I got the meatball pizza and it looked great but then I took a bite and it was not good. The meatballs had NO seasoning or flavor AT ALL!!! All 3 of our dishes were incredibly bland and flavorless. The interior of the restaurant was very Italiany and they were playing some classic Italian tunes. We had high hopes after the Tik Tok review and we were absolutely unimpressed. We overheard the table next to us talking about it being their favorite restaurant and we just don't understand why. I'm sorry for the bad review but it was just an awful experience. 1-10. Worst custom service I've ever experienced. They sent the wrong food order via DoorDash. I went to the restaurant to get the right food and they refused to make it right. I have never experienced a restaurant not correcting their mistake so this was a first. We order from here frequently but never again. It's a nice little two-room family restaurant with walls lined with mostly black and white photos of the Guzzardi family going back several generations. Mama opened the restaurant in 1986 with her own recipes and the family has been making her homemade meals for the public ever since. We were seated right away in the back of the second dining room. The menu is pretty sparse but has all the staples of good Italian dining. With nothing over $10, three of us barely spent $35 and had plenty to take home for later. I typically have trouble deciding what I want, battling between something that looks like a familiar love or inviting a new entree to join the party in my tummy. This time I was deciding between the Chip Steak Deluxe and the Fettuccine Alfredo. I enlisted the help of our waitress, Lori. I barely got out the words "chip steak" before she cut me off with a "have that! That's my favorite." Soon to be joining the party in my tummy was a sub sandwich that contained "fresh thin sliced rib Eye steak with our Homemade meat sauce, sauteed green peppers, sauteed onions, sauteed mushrooms, topped with melted cheese." I love a good philly cheesesteak and this seemed to be right up that alley. We enjoyed our salads and some extremely crispy garlic bread (I like mine slightly chewy.) In the midst of some nice dinner conversation, I spotted what looked like a mound of gooey, noodly, meaty cheese on someone else's plate. I wanted that. The Chip Steak I ordered was good, but I had to return the following day to get the Baked Ziti. There was enough cheese on my Ziti to make a cheese covered grilled cheese sandwich jealous. And it was delicious. The Olive Garden may have bottomless salads, but they got nothing on Mama Guzzardi's. Hands down the best Italian food I've ever had the privilege of digesting. read more

Love Mama Guzzardi's! I have been coming here for years, since I was in high school...The red sauce is so flavorful and delicious, and I could drink the salad dressing it is by far my favorite anywhere around! The portions are good for the price, try the chef salad if you are looking for something lighter, it's delicious, also the stuffed shells are probably the best thing on the menu in my opinion! Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the meatballs, I love meatballs with my pasta and the past couple times I got them they were hard as a rock, meatballs should be moist, and easy to cut into with a fork like butter...not hard and packed so tight you can't cut it. This has got to be the worst place to get pasta in Stark County. Not only is the service extremely slow, my dinner was cold, and when the server offered to bring more sauce, that too was cold. We had to ask for bread, and the sweet and sour salad dressing is like water, it's that thin! For those of you used to a sweet and sour salad dressing like Hartville, this is the furthest thing from it. We will not return to this restaurant.
