We specifically asked for a deep cleaning this weekend. Two housekeepers came and were supposedly done in a little over two hours. They did not dust AT ALL, did not clean the baseboards, and ignored the cobwebs. They seemed in a rush to leave. Kitchen and bathrooms, however were great. I have had a few different teams over the years and, while they have slightly different techniques, they are always efficient and thorough. They are respectful of any requests. For example, I don't allow chlorine bleach for health reasons and provide an alternative product. Currently, I have a team of two lovely ladies who complete their job at my 4bed, 3bath, 2-story home in about 2-2.5 hours. Not happy with my experience. I called and spoke with a young girl on the phone phone asking for a 0700-0900 cleaning for my tiny 500 sq ft studio apt. I was told she would would get back to me, a few days later I got a text in the evening saying they could come the next morning but they didn't identify themselves on the text message and never said "this is sylvias". I had been texting so many people I didn't know they were actually coming and had my address. Fine no big deal they came and said i could have a discount $95.00 instead of $130.00. Two ladies cleaned for about 1 hour and 20 mins. I stuck around and tidied up while they were cleaning. They did a mediocre job. Still hair and dirt on floors. Baseboards still dirty. I paid $100 for a mediocre job of my tiny place. They texted me next day, asking how my service was... i said i wasn't happy with the floors and never heard back. read more

I don't get how this biz gets less then 5 stars... Maybe I am getting lucky every time but I been using their services for over a year or even longer and LOVE them.... Yes I had couple issues scheduling or rescheduling but it happens as they dealing with other clients that might cancel or run behind...so it messes with their schedule...not necessary their fault. But I swear it's the best money spent!!! They text me and let me know about specials and it's so worth it! Usually it's two lady's coming with ALL the equipment so you don't have to supply NOTHING! And they stay for about 1 1/2-2hrs. I have a 2 bedroom 2 bath and I come home to a spotless house!!!! Every inch is CLEAN!! Nothing has ever been broken or taken like what some reviews suggest... My experience here was very mixed. The first time Sylvia sent her girls they did an absolutely awesome job! Best, ever. Really fabulous and I appreciated it a lot! However, she sent two girls and one did all of the work. The other one, broke a shell in the bathroom (a special one, and when I walked in she had my toothbrush upside down on the floor, luckily I caught that and tossed it) but overall, really, as a team, they did a great job with a very messy house. A really great job, I would recommend them for a one shot deal! I wanted to make it a regular thing and have them come every other week, but each time, different girls came. so it was different each time. I really would have liked the same two girls as a regular time. especially because I can only be here weekends. (also I had put aside some designer stuff for one of the girls) I paid the first girls a lot for tips because they did a great job but then I felt I had to continue paying that amount for a tip when it was a regular visit and it wasn't quite as good or the same people. I don't like having different people move through the house. Sylvia is really nice but was not good with constructive criticism, one time, the girls mopped the floor and it smelled disgusting! all they needed to do was go over it with a fresh smelling mop, and they did and it was completely fine - but they seemed insulted. It was not an insult, anyone could have done that! The house was sparkling clean, so I had no complaints. Overall, I think they do an excellent job but there are some communication problems (they just didn't show up one time) and there is not the consistency I desperately need with my schedule. read more

I decided to book with them and try them out. I was concerned how well they would do the job because our place was a mess and my boyfriend and I really left the bathroom and kitchen pretty dirty. I am 9 months pregnant and I could not keep the bathroom clean due to the chemicals in the cleaning products.. So the bathroom had built up soap scum and grime. It was filthy. The ladies estimated 3 hours to clean our apartment which was fine because I knew it was hard work.. They were pretty confident that they would leave the place spotless. Dang, I had the same experience as Amy T. below - they quoted me at $195 for 4 hours/3 cleaners (by phone AND email), then asked for $335 for 4 1/2 hours, after the job was done. I ended up paying them $300 as I was going to tip them anyway (and I threw in another 20 for the women), but not happy about this. They need little direction, occasionally I have specific tasks for them which they accomplish along with general house cleaning. We even hired a team to pack up a small residence for us. This cleaning company is a total joke. Booked them twice and both time when the cleaning ladies came in the first thing they did was to complain about how messy the house was. Why would I book a cleaning service if the home is perfectly tidy and clean already? The second time I booked them was three days before I left for a month-long trip. Right before I left home I realized the kitchen started to smell. Opened the dishwasher and found that they have left all of my dirty dishes in the dishwasher without ever turning it on and I had to spend hour cleaning to get rid of the smell. Also hid some dirty dishes in the storage compartment beneath the oven. If you don't have time to clean simply tell me and I'd be happy to pay for more time. If I didn't check before leaving for the trip my house would have been infested with god knows what. Contacted customer service regarding the situation and no refund of any kind was issued. I have used Sylvia's cleaning crew and I will highly recommend them to everyone for three reasons. First reason being, I was putting my house on the market & Sylvia's cleaning crew agreed to come as per my convenience at short notice when the original crew canceled on me at the last minute. They did a great job cleaning a dusty house after renovation. Secondly, we found a mirror damaged during the cleaning process. I sent a picture to them and they readily agreed to pay for the replacement of the broken mirror, no questions asked! Third and most importantly, the $95 they credited me through Venmo for the mirror replacement ended up in the wrong person's account!! Sylvia's customer service was so great... they worked on this issue for a whole month, made multiple calls to Venmo and kept me informed about the progress until they made sure Venmo sent us the amount! I was pleasantly surprised how diligently well they handled this! I totally will use them again and will highly recommend Sylvia's crew for your house/ office cleaning services for an immaculate job and for their awesome work ethic that is rare to find these days! Sylvia's staff is awesome! They have been doing an excellent job cleaning, being on time and never an issue until this week. Our crew was trying to clean our window (I didn't even know that they would do that) the screen was stuck and while trying get it free, the window cracked. The crew immediately notified me and even sent a photo. Within minutes the admin staff was communicating with me and getting ready to have a company replace it. In no time, a crew responded, removed the window and a short time later returned with a new pane. The whole thing was a non-event. Sylvia's took care of everything. I just tried this service for the first time. If you hire them for 2 hours, the price is $99 as advertised, but what they don't tell you is there is a $15 driving fee added on. And the first visit has to be paid in cash. The 2 women who came over didn't really speak English, which was frustrating. They couldn't seem to understand that I didn't want the whole house cleaned. I was in the kitchen with the team leader going over the list I'd written of what I wanted cleaned in the kitchen. She kept interrupting me, and asked over and over if I wanted the bathroom cleaned. I left a step stool from the garage in the kitchen for them to wipe the top of the fridge. Not only did they not wipe the top of the fridge, but they simply folded up the step stool and slid it next to the fridge. They put things away in the wrong place, which isn't a big deal, but I wondered why they didn't ask me where things go. They used spray on my wood furniture without asking me if I wanted them to. Then, several areas weren't wiped, so the spray was dripping and half-dried that I had to wipe down myself later. They couldn't understand that you can't put soap on stone floors. They were finished with 20 mins to go, put all of their belongings outside the door, and yelled to me that they were done. That was very unprofessional and rude, both to finish early and to yell up the stairs. They should have asked me what other jobs I had for them for the final 20 mins. Then, I saw that they had taken a scrub brush from my kitchen. After 2 calls and 2 days later, the man in the office said he'd take $5 off my next visit. We'll see if that happens and if I want to use this company again. Note: It is now a week later and I am finding more things missing from my kitchen. read more

My wife and I were frequent monthly customers until one day in March when we discovered $500 had been stolen from our house. Granted, we did not have a video to prove that the crew took the money. But we did not have anybody come over to the house between the cleaning date and the date we discovered the money was missing. And we did not spend the money during that time. The money was tucked away in an envelope within one of the compartments in a buffet table, and not out in the open. Whoever took it may have found it while dusting the buffet table. You really find out how professional or unprofessional someone is when an issue arises and see how they handle the issue. We spoke multiple times with Sylvia in a civil manner, but she would not accept that her people could have stolen the money. Instead, she kept turning the table on us, saying we were the ones mistaken. She promised to investigate the crew, but never really did. At one point, she said she would split the difference and offer us $250 as a sign of good faith. To quote: "It's just money." When we followed up a few days later, that promise disappeared. We have since filed a police report and are working with a detective. I would caution anyone from using Sylvia's cleaning service. read more

Sylvia's UN-professional cleaning service. Why didn't I listen to the others on here?! I was trying out a few places to get a regular schedule going with the company I liked. It's not this one.... I called Gigi and scheduled two girls and three hours from 8-11am. That's $135 total. Made sure my morning was organized and planned out for a fully functional work day, which i made sure they understood was crucial. They ran super late - no apologies, and a very wrong update, what lead to 30 mins late became one hour and 15 mins late. By 9:15am, three girls show up and I'm now expected to pay for three girls! No customer service, no professional communication, no concerns. I feel robbed of my time, my morning and my money. This was all done via text because she would not pick up the phone to talk to me. I'm in the customer service field, I know what it takes to make a customer happy when you're at fault. There were plenty of opportunities to redeem her company and win me back but she was adamant I paid for the three I didn't ask for with no concern for my feelings, my circumstance, repeat business OR referrals! We were referred by a friend when searching for a cleaning service for the first time. I never thought I needed help cleaning but was having a lot of out-of-town guests over for the first time and wanted the place spotless. I don't think of myself as a messy person and my husband and I cleaned the house pretty regularly, but I was absolutely amazed by how the clean the house was after they were done! We'd spend entire weekend cleaning and it was never got as clean as when they came. We've now been using Sylvia's services for over a year and wouldn't dream of having anyone else. I'm always so happy after they come because the house looks amazing and smells so clean. They really have an attention to detail that I appreciate greatly. Some people have voiced in their reviews that they are annoyed by the texting -- if you don't like texting, here's an idea - call them! You'll likely get their voicemail, but someone will call you back pretty quickly. Also, if you wanted them to clean something that they missed? Hey, guess what? Just ask them to do it next time and they will (crazy, I know)! Also, regarding the sometimes being late -- though I'm sure they do their best, they can't always anticipate how long the previous house/apt is going to take or there could have been traffic (this is LA, afterall), so maybe they're a little late so deal with it or call them. I have only great things to say about Sylvia's. I called them this very morning as I did several other cleaning services in the Los Angeles area. I will not name names but I was quoted exorbitant amounts for my not-at-all large studio apartment. I wasn't too familiar with the average amount for maid services in LA but something told me that anything over $140 was absolutely ridiculous. Not only was Sylvia's extremely affordable (they are currently advertising a 2 hour/ 2 people summer cleaning special for $90) but I was shocked when I was told there was a good chance I could get my apartment cleaned the same day - as in, today! Not at all what I expected as a few other companies were telling me tomorrow at the earliest (which I did not mind and totally understood). The two ladies that arrived, Ruby and Iuon, were very sweet and got right to work. I was able to do my own work on my computer as they effortlessly moved from space to space leaving everything in their path spotless. They finished cleaning in an hour and a half which made my final bill even less than the originally quoted $90 (which I was told ahead of time could very well be a possibility since my apartment is not that large). I was pleasantly surprised and that only confirmed I will be using Sylvia's services in the future. I am expecting company this weekend and thanks to Sylvia's I can focus on making sure everything else is taken care of since my apartment is already spic-and-span. Give this company a try! My friend told me about Sylvias and has been using them for years. They were able to send a crew over SAME DAY who did an AMAZING job. They're efficient, hard working and trustworthy.
