The people that worked there were all really nice but absolutely will never be returning. I got a full set and showed the exact picture of what I wanted (was not complex at all. - pictures below). They didn't look bad just not even close what I asked for. About a week later I started realizing they were lifting - soon after all of them fell off. Without even picking at them they so easily fell off 1.5 weeks after getting them. As for my pedicure - 80% of it had chipped two weeks after getting it. Two weeks is a long time for polish - but from my experience I have never had polish on my toes that chipped so much so fast. read more

I really like the online appointment booking. The owner seemed friendly. I booked for a dip powder but asked for tips as an add on which they obliged. When they began, several other techs just stood over my hands watching and talking about me, refusing to acknowledge my existence or that I was slightly uncomfortable by it- they may have been training but again, nothing was said about it to me. The tech ended up cutting my finger causing it to bleed, then she touched the open wound with her bare, unwashed hand! SO unsanitary. She didn't apologize or anything. The requested almond shape of the nails are crooked and some lumps that were not smoothed out on the thumbs. Overall it was an unpleasant experience and I probably should have said something while I was there. I'm sanitizing my wound in hopes it doesn't become infected. read more

As ya'll know, there is a nail salon on every block in the city. I usually stick to the one close to my apartment, however, yesterday I passed by this one, and I saw the sign outside ( Free Manicure with Pedicure). I went inside, and inquired, how long the wait-time will be? I was told not more than 10 minuets! So, I said to myself, " listen to Nike and Just do it." I was sold! So this is what happened inside the salon: 1) I sat on the chair, and my feet were soaked in the water bath for 30 odd minutes- if not more- before someone, came from outside, and got started on my feet. The average time for the mani/pedi is 40 minutes, yesterday mine took longer than 90 minutes! 2) I have to admit, I didn't like that a male was doing my nails. Can call me me old-fashioned. I wasn't asked if it is fine with me, I wasn't even informed. He just showed-up and started working on my feet. I was uncomfortable. I wasn't sure if it was because I'm ticklish, or because I was raised in a different country, with different culture. Either-or, I sure did not appreciate it and I thought it was inconsiderate. If my feet were not in the water for too long, I would have left already. 3) One lady was talking on the speaker-phone, while she was doing another customer's nails. Acceptable? I don't think so. Professional? Hell no. 4) There was 7 chairs and only 3 working ladies, and the man who showed up later. 5) They were counting their tips in front of the customers. It was rude, I thought. My feelings about this nail salon are mixed, so 3 stars. Somethings they do well, great pedicure and lots of massages through out but everything else was lackluster. I came here with a Groupon for a gel mani and regular pedi. I had no troubles using the Groupon but you have to make an appointment in advance, even for non-Groupon patrons. While I was there, a woman walked in and wanted a massage. She got turned away for whatever reason and looked rather upset. One other lady was asked to wait 20 minutes for a walk in pedicure. Regardless, I must say, I got a GREAT pedicure. The massage chairs were new, easy to control, and had great pressure. My neck and back felt good! My feet felt even better! They do not scrub your feet very hard here but the massage was definitely thorough. I got both my calf and the bottoms of my feet massaged. The massage was like 15 minutes long with the latter 5 minutes being with a hot stone. Loved it! I felt thoroughly relaxed. Other pedicures I've gotten in the past, the massage was only like 5 minutes long where they mostly just pinch my calves. I would love to know what the Spa pedicure involves because the regular seemed pretty "spa" to me already compared to pedis elsewhere. Price tag for the spa pedi seems steep though. On the other hand, my gel manicure experience following the pedicure was less than satisfying. The technicians did not seem to speak English very well and I had to explain the design I wanted multiple times. All the Asian technicians talked to me in this weird coy/giggly manner. I also did not like that they talked and giggled with each other in Korean. I've heard horror stories of nail technicians bad mouthing their patrons in a different language knowing they don't understand. Maybe this was not the case here but it made me uncomfortable to hear constant laughter and not know if they were making fun of me or not. My technician did a good job on my right hand and seemed to got impatient and did a crappier job on the other.The polish was not smooth on the left hand. As a result, the polish on my left hand started peeling off after just a week! I kept getting fabric (usually shirt I'm wearing) snagged on the chipped polish so I ended up just peeling it off, finger by finger. Yeah I know this is bad for my nails. It didn't help that the technician FILED the bed/surface of my nails before applying polish, instead of just the tips to shape them. I did not like that and thought it did more damage to my nails. I've never had this done before and did not know what she was trying to do. Maybe it helps the gel polish stick better. Polish on every single finger was chipped/peeled off by the end of 2.5 weeks. My cuticles look neat but my nail bed looks really bad now. Only good part about the manicure was I received a good 1 minute hand massage before getting my nails painted and a 3 minute neck and shoulder massage while the polish was drying. I like that they have a sink here and ask you to wash your hands after getting your cuticles cut and before painting, instead of just dipping your nails in a bowl of water. However, the machines used to bake the polish for the gel manicures were not wiped down after each use and looked really groady. I question their sanitation. Overall, I do recommend the pedicure for the awesome massage experience but skip the manicures. I would NOT pay full price for the shoddy results. read more

Awesome place! Very clean and doesn't stink of nail salon chemicals! Excellent service- good options for pedicures but no hard upsale. Massage chairs were new and worked well. Got extra massage and she did a wonderful job- very relaxing. Huge color selection. Offer gel and regular mani and pedi. Able to sit at the drying bar and since I only had my sneakers with me, she wrapped put fast/hard dry stuff on my toenails and wrapped them so they wouldn't get ruined. They have WiFi available. Tip in cash, but able to pay with card. I'm from out of town and pretty much get my nails done in every city I visit, and this place was one of the best. Easy to drop in on a Saturday morning or Friday afternoon. Clean, good service, accommodating. If I lived here, this would be my regular place. read more

Could not be happier with this! After my first Groupon, this has become my mainstay nail salon. The gel manicures last for so long, and are perfectly executed every time, no matter who is doing them. They also have a points rewards system for returning customers and are really friendly. Most definitely recommend! It was an amazing experience- I did the Groupon, was able to book the same afternoon, and they had no problem adding on the French to the Groupon for just 5 bucks. I recommend Jenny to do your acrylic nails (full set) and any designs. She is the best and she takes her time! If you are ever unsatisfied with the services, she is willing to fix for you until it's done right. If I lived in Philly, I would quickly become a regular here. 14 USD for manicure and 30 USD for gel. The atmosphere is on point! Relaxing, quiet, and quick service. The color selection is pretty extensive too. The nail technicians shape and color with such an attention to detail it's inspiring. I've never had a technician start over without prompting from the customer... But here they hold themselves to a really high standard of work. Along with the manicure they also give you a short massage on the arms as well as on your shoulders and back as your nails dry. It's amazing! I didn't give a full five stars because I only had one service done. Additionally, their advertised wifi does not work. Bottom line if you want a quality manicure definitely consider symphony! I rarely get my nails done and rarely write reviews, but this place was so lovely I wish I'd found it sooner! You walk in and they all give a warm welcome. I got a gel mani and pedi. The pedi was lovely- massage chair and they give a sweet lower leg and foot massage. Gel mani was great too, and she gave a hand and shoulder rub. I think they deserve more stars on yelp. Definitely pay with cash, they have an atm if you need. Overall it was $60 and I gave a $15 tip. The pedicure was ok; clipped nails, filed, clipped cuticles, loofah callouses, paint, top coat, dried under fan. My feet are calloused so it's hard to find people to do a thorough job on my feet. I went to Symphony Nails with a friend to take advantage of a Groupon offer for a gel manicure and spa pedicure. From the second I walked in, I was rushed by one of the employees when picking a nail polish color. The pedicure was fine, the woman who did it was very attentive and checked to make sure I was content with water temperature, if I wanted a chair massage, etc. Issues arose when it was time for my gel manicure. As all nail technicians do, the woman asked me if I wanted my nails cut or just filed, to which I responded "Just filed." However, she insisted that my nails were uneven and she proceeded to cut them, to which I reluctantly nodded my head. I definitely understand/agree that they were a bit uneven, but at essentially every other nail place I've been to, they agree with whatever you decide. So, I ended up with shorter nails than I was expecting. Additionally, my technician's technique itself was okay but not great. From the beginning of her service, I could see that her strokes were a bit uneven and spotty in some places. On top of that, I chose a light yellow polish color, and upon seeing her apply the first coat, I asked her for advice on whether or not my nails would still be essentially see-through after the two coats. She wasn't very helpful or encouraging, and seemed a bit annoyed. However, she did end up doing 3 coats to ensure that the color was opaque enough, which I very much appreciate. Finally, my friend and I received back massages from our respective technicians while our manicures were drying. The offer was nice, but the massages were a bit rough. Not necessarily painful, but just rough/a bit aggressive. All in all, I'm happy to have done the Groupon deal and to have received a discount on a gel manicure and spa pedicure, but I'm not sure if I'll be returning to Symphony Nails. read more

Went recently for a manicure. Got my cuticle ripped off on not one, but TWO fingers. They both still sting and might be infected. Terrible service, this is the result of them being a in a hurry to make as much money as possible as quickly as possible without caring about the quality of the service. I was very disappointed with how they didn't sanitize their cuticle pushers and cutters prior to using on me. They just used rubbing alcohol and cotton pads to disinfect. You're supposed to sterilize them for more than a second. read more

This is 100% the best nail appointment I've had. I came in right when they opened so it wasn't busy at all. They were really friendly and welcoming. The nail salon is clean and has a great color selection. All of their nail polishes are quality. I only came in for a quick pedicure. I paid a few bucks extra to get the callus on my feet removed. Usually when I have this done it's a super long process. The girls at Symphony used this really cool filing spinny device thing that totally removed it ALL within seconds. I can't say I've had that done before. The pedicure itself was so relaxing and she did a great job with the massage part. She even used hot stones. When my toes were drying, she gave me a complementary back massage. It was wonderful! Not sure if it's just cause I was the only customer or if they do this sort of thing all the time. I almost never write reviews even if the service or outcome is bad. This place is horrible. Please do not go here! The woman who did my nails was so unpleasant and aggressive. I don't have sensitive hands but the way this woman was handling my hands and nails after gluing a fake nail on was ridiculous! She just glued a fake nail on and was using the file and buffer so aggressive. My finger nail beds are hurting so bad. I got my nails done at 2pm and since then my fingers have been aching and hurting. It's not 4:18 am in the morning and they are aching so bad with pain. Not only that but I this is what I asked for. I've been to a bunch of places around Philly and I can honestly say this was the worst experience I ever had. The woman was rude and aggressive. You would think that getting your nails done would be a pampering and relaxing experience. NOPE. The gel polish looks so uneven and actually gross. Not sure how a full set is $50 alone but then if you add gel, it adds an additional $25 just for gel polish. So all together I paid $75. It is also already lifting at the top of two nails. The acrylic is sooo thick and the shape isn't what I asked for either. Do not go here. It looks nice. But this is the worst salon experience I ever had. And I'm up in the middle of the night with pain. Uneven coat of polish. Two nails lifting already. Feeling like I wasted $75. Maybe if you don't get your nails done often you would be okay with this experience but as someone who does, take your money elsewhere. It has been 6 days and they are already chipping. 3 of those I stayed at a hotel, so I had absolutely no cleaning, cooking, or anything else that could cause early chip. Overall the service was really good- very friendly, good massages, seemed to take their time. My nails looked great when they were done. But to have gel nails chip so soon is a deal breaker. If it wasn't for that I would have rated them much higher. I can only imagine something in the application process did not go through correctly. I might get a regular manicure here, but I don't think I would risk opting for the more expensive gel after my experience. Also- they don't have a lot of gel colors.
