I am big on customer service and quality nail sets, hence why I went to Nu Bella Nails for the second time. This last time I was there, I was barely acknowledge and despite me being on time for my appointment someone else was serviced before me. It wasn't until I asked "how long will it take" before Noodle said something. When it was time for me to pay, I was told a different price than what was given on Instagram. So after paying the ATM fee, the wife told me my total was $15 more than what I'd already taken out. She quickly explained the breakdown of prices without making much sense. And her explanation for why I was being charged extra was because she didn't know I was getting a design. Which is confusing because I dm'd them a message of how I wanted my nails. To be clear, I have NO issue paying for quality, but the lack of communication was poor. But it's fine, they have their clientele, I'm sure they could care less based on the treatment I received. I won't be returning so that's not my concern, my concern is that paying/new customers receive the treatment they deserve read more

Wish I could give zero stars. Horrible!!!!! No other way to put. I got a pedi which was ok and an overlay and that was the worst decision. Very unprofessional, dismissive and quite rude. I voiced my complaints the entire process and when the tech was done I told her I didn't like them as I had done the entire process. I was told I could wait until they were done with all of the other clients waiting or pay full price and come back the next day. My polish is thick, bulky and lumpy and my nails are not fully polished. I also have acrylic dust cured in my gel polish. The salon and all of the equipment is raggedy. I should have walked out after sitting down and feeling the whole pedicure chair shake when a client walked by. I have never had such a negative experience in a nail salon. read more

This place was amazing ....the first year or two it was open. Tbh it's not what it used to be. The owners are a young hip couple who are cool but they are too busy flaunting their wealth instead of investing more in the business. They lack stable staff. It makes you wonder is it the revolving door of unreliable people or are the owners the problem? They are overpriced but I understand nothing is cheap. The one time I went to get my eyebrows done one of the owners made sure to point out the flaws in my eyebrows so I couldn't ask for a refund. I felt completely insulted. As if I was trying to scam them. I understand because they are in a very ghetto area with ghetto clientele but seriously. Get it together! read more

So lets talk atmosphere: Clean atmosphere, small location, keep in mind that this location is in the hood. Lets talk Customer Service: When I walked in, I immediately let the girl that greeted me know ( I don't know her name, I BELIEVE ITS LU-ANNE she has a demeanor of a manager.. had on glasses with full face of makeup that day) I had an appt already, she asked me what I needed done today? I let her know that I was really interested in "Chrome Nails" REFILL. She made me aware that Andrew would be taking care of me. I sat down everything so far seemed "A -OKAY" so I thought... Andrew starts to refill my nails, everything goes fine. As soon as he begins the process of Gel and chrome powder on my left hand the thumb would NOT take on AT ALL. He filed MY NAILS NOT once, NOT twice , BUT THREE times and there is where my patience began to ran out. Andrew reached out to the GIRL that I speak of in the beginning and asks her for help. She TELLS ME that I, I, I am not placing my hand correctly INSIDE of the gel machine. I politely make her aware that her associate, PEER is somewhere along the line making some type of mistake. I make her aware that THIS IS HIS 3RD time attempting to DO my nails. She takes a LONG , DEEP sigh, and tells him in they're ( Language ) that she will take on from where he has left off. Once she was done with the client SHE HAD, I sat in her chair. She ATTEMPTS TO DO THE SAME EXACT THING AS ANDREW. FAIL!!! She looks at me and says "I dont know what is happening, the gel keeps coming off". I just continue to sit there and stare at her filing my nails over and over. My patience at this point is through the roof! I tell her "please just put all diamonds in the thumb that is CAUSING issues, she says okay if thats what you want" I GOT SO FURIOUS due to the lack of OWNERSHIP! I politely say " MAM its not what I WANT, at this point I HAVE NO CHOICE. YOU cant fulfill WHAT I CAME HERE FOR". She stood quiet and said the same thing over and over " I just don't know what is going on". She had a very "I JUST DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH THIS ATTITUDE" At the end of it all, I walked out with chrome nails on 9 fingers and had no choice but to get some diamonds all over my thumb, which AS A CUSTOMER I would assume I would not be charged for ,due to the nail shops negligence of knowing how to properly do what they advertise on INSTAGRAM "CHROME NAILS". I was charged for a full thumb of DIAMONDS that I did NOT want in the first place. I was a pretty upset customer!! Moral to my story: Do not go to this place FOR CHROME... This was my very 1st time here. Before I arrived they requested picture of what I had in mind. The nail technician (Noodle) was well aware. Not only did he arrive an hour late but, I didn't even get the design I wanted. He threw some suggestions out like lets not do all the nails with that design we can change it up s bit. So I agreed. When I saw it wasn't looking even like the color scheme I wanted i said something. The lady next to him (Loann) suggested I let the nail tech take some created liberty. I did. The pictures speak for themselves!!. They didn't even have the sticker applications I wanted and was on the image sent to them. I can appreciate honesty. HORRIBLE service. My tech was a guy named Tony. He came into work however, his professionalism and manners stayed home. The shop was empty upon my arrival, I'm thinking good and bad thoughts about that but i stay anyway. Tony says, "hey, what you getting?" I reply with my desires and from that point on, Tony only gives me gestures and hand motions as our means of communication. Say what! Not when i am spending my hard earned coins...Absolutely not! Just left this place after almost two hours. I'm assuming because it's literally in the middle of the hood that they don't even try when it comes to customer service, but what I just experienced was flat out disrespectful for someone who spends hundreds a month on nails. I made an appointment two weeks in advance and paid the 25 dollar deposit. Upon arrival I was casually asked how I could be helped, told them I had an appointment and then proceeded to wait 20 minutes. I asked again about my appointment and had one of their clients mumble that I was being a bitch. They said nothing. They got me set up With a soak off. After an hour I was still soaking. I had an appointment for ten, drove from out of state paying tolls to come to Philly to try this highly recommended spot just to leave two whole hours later with half soaked off nails. They took client after client while I sat there. I paid for a specific time and was shown so little respect that I just had to leave. Terrible start to my vacation. Will not be returning ever again. Overpriced!!! The owners act like their shit don't stink. My friend and I were loyal customers until they screwed us over. We would drive over an hour away, to have them tell us that they couldn't attend us because they were doing other people's nails. We always made appointments with them and got a really bad experience. Nails came out so bad that the owner had to fix them. Very unprofessional and can't keep the same employees. I came here because I'm very picky about my nails and like extreme designs. I've been there 3 times and every time, nails would start popping off the day after or they would start breaking. By the time I would be in for my two to three-week refill, my nails look like they've been through a wood chipper and I have never had anything like that happen before in my life. Even my daughter's nails all popped off within the first week and they tried to say some stuff like 'oh maybe her nails are rejecting the acrylic'. I am a nail technician and a cosmetologist myself. I like sometimes being pampered instead of fuming up my own home with that acrylic smell, so I know what I'm talking about and that's pretty much bullcrap. Also, I got fungus and 7 of my fingernails. Don't ever let a nail technician tell you its from water because it's not. Water does not cause fungus... unclean and unsanitary instruments and tools are what cause fungus. I went to another place today and he was in horror at the condition of my nails after he removed my gel polish. It took him long to repair, replace and treat, and sent me along with a complimentary vile of fungus treatment to put under my nails. And....he used a new file on me, which ge disposed of afterwards....the way you must do in accordance to state board laws. Also the salon is extremely dirty and they use bottom of the Line Products. They use acrylic out of a cheap white jar labeled acrylic blend and in this industry that's called Dental acrylic. That stuff will destroy your fingernails and cannot be soaked off with acetone so that's why last time I was there they had to rip the nail pieces remaining on my fingers from when my nails broke off with Nippers and the pain sent me legit through the roof and they didn't even care. read more

I've been going to NuBella for about 4 years now. There have been things throughout the years that should have made me stop giving them my money a long time ago, so I do take ownership in that aspect. However, the last straw was this past visit. Last week I went in to get my eyebrows done. I try to call ahead of time to set an appointment so I can get Lu-Ann but they tell me that it's a "walk in service", but whenever I get there she is busy so I have to wait. I walked in and sat down and another woman walked over to me (attempting to do my eyebrows) and I told her that I would wait for Lu-Ann (she's the only one who can do eyebrows). The woman tells Lu- Ann what I said and she acts like that's a problem (as usual) but I shrug it off. She does my eyebrows and then I go pay Noodle. I give him the money and then he says "I feel like I just seen you" I replied, "no I actually haven't been here in a while" so he makes a face and says "you all look alike".............I guess he seen my face and then tried to turn the joke around saying "don't you hate it when people say all Koreans look alike?" FYI I am not of Asian descent -- at all. I'm black, all day, 24/7 , 365, and everyone knows this and it is evident. The joke was inappropriate and unprofessional but that's pretty much a reflection of the service you can expect by going here. read more

This is an OK location in the hood, directly under the el on York and daulpin. Went for a pedicure, although the location is directly under the el it doesn't stand out at all, I walked passed the place 3x. There were only two workers there and it was around 1 pm, which is odd for normal nail salon. Now to the pedicure the guy was ok he didn't speak English so the language barrier was a little bit excessive. Nice chair for the services be the chair did not massage at all, that's the oddest think I've ever encountered to be in a nail salon getting a pedicure and the chair doesn't massage i thought that was standard. Cost me $30 in total I usually spend around $20-$25 for a good pedicure which is usually in Center City. I feel the services rendered was subpar at best but I was in a rush and I did it. Would I go again probably not, no real foot care, I honestly felt like I could have washed my feet and my house which is what the worker basically did. It's getting two stars because the area inside was nice besides that nothing special and definitely not worth the $30. read more

Went here Monday morning to get a set of acrylic nails. I told the young woman I wanted them nearly as short as possible, just to add a little length to my nails. She barely trimmed them and I asked her several times that they were way too long, with her reply finally being "they can not go any shorter". (I've had acrylics done MUCH shorter than this many times so I know this wasn't true). She was seemingly new to nails because another woman was hovering over her half the time, correcting the mistakes she was making on my nails. She hardly filed them down, they were extremely thick and jagged looking but I had corrected her so many times that I felt bad continuing to critique her. Finally, she finished my nails and at this point I was frustrated and just wanted to get out of there. It took her 5 minutes just to figure out how to turn on the nail dryer. Walking into the salon I was coldly greeted by a very pretty younger women (she sat in the 2nd booth from the door) who asked "what we needed". Mind you, this was my first time here and the first impression was very off putting. I came with my daughter and let her go first since she was only getting a full set. She sat with a gentleman my the name of "Noodle". Very vibrant, happy guy, extremely welcoming who asked if we could give him a good Yelp review. Well Mr. Noodle, this is the best I can do. As my daughter sat to have her nails done, he offered me a seat next to her while I waited to be seen. Again, this man was super nice to us and included me in his process which I appreciated. Now it was my turn. I was getting a gel mani/pedi done by a young lady who barley spoke two words to me other than to ask what I was getting done. She did a pretty crappy pedicure. She barley shaped my nails, looked bothered to even be working on my feet. I figured she was having a bad day so I didn't say anything to her about how uncomfortable she was making me feel. She started applying the polish and I don't know what the neck happened with one toe imparticular but the gel polish would not dry. She tried to cure the polish a good 10 times (no lie) all the while filing my nail every time she had to remove the polish. Needless to say, the skin around my toe was entirely cut up because of the constant filing. No one came to help this girl at all. They would all come over, look at my toe and begin to speak in their native language. This was very uncomfortable. Finally after about 45 minutes of trying someone came up with the bright idea to switch the polish and it worked. Now it was time for my manicure. I did appreciate that all the tools being used were package sealed. This was the quickest manicure I've ever had. Again, she barley did anything to my nails other than cut my cuticles (which she hurt me by doing so I had to keep pulling my hands away from her) and polish them. I told her I wanted to get two accent nails, one in chrome and another with a design. The design had to be done by the lady that greeted us when we came in. She asked me what I wanted and became bothered by me when I told her to just do her thing. Well, that was the biggest mistake ever because what she did was throw some ugly glitter on my nail and draw an uneven line around my nail in a color thay didn't even match. I didn't say anything about my dissatisfaction and proceeded to see how my daughter felt about her set. She was extremely pleased with her nails and the service given. When it was time to pay, my total came to about $120 dollars. My jaw nearly dropped because the work was poor and the service was even worse. I kindly paid, tiped everyone and vowed never to come back. After getting home and evaluating my mani/pedi I felt ripped off. My toe was all cut up from the filing, I had gel polish all around the skin of my toe that had cured with the light and some toes were partially painted. After a week of getting the full set, my daughter lost 2 nails. Needless to say, I DO NOT recommend this place at all. The nails were not as advertised on their page. If you take a look at the actual detail you will know what I'm talking about. The customer service was horrible. I made an appointment over the phone and paid $25 in advance, so in my head I'm thinking everything will be great, well I was wrong. I had to wait about 30 minutes or more to be attended, I was completely patient but that is RIDICULOUS! I paid $25 in advance for a freaking appointment FOR A REASON! So I wouldn't have to wait not even ONE minute but I had to wait 30 or more. The guy was nice after I sat in his chair or whatever, I was charged $100 for JUST my nails, I didn't get manicure or pedicure nothing JUST my nails, that included the $25 deposit I had given, on top of that I decided to be generous enough to give the guy a $20 tip, which I shouldn't have, the lady who told me the price was not attentive, I had questions and she completely disregarded me like ok, you're done you paid you can now leave, absolutely horrible customer service. Also, I did not know that this place was in the middle of the ghetto, where the smoke of marijuana snacks you in the face & there are crack heads outside, there is NO parking & you can barely find the place because of the renovations or whatever that's happening outside of the place. I also broke 3 nails EASILY a week after, it has now been a month or more & this damn acrylic WILL NOT come off my nails, I saw another review that said they used the cheapest powder that will not come of and I completely agree because for the life of me, I can not take this off.
