I had been to the Symposium Coffee in Tigard. I was killing time in Sherwood, so moseyed over to their location on SW Pine Street. Absolutely LOVE this place! I really like when a proprietor gets creative with a residential (older craftsmanesque) house and transforms it into a metaphysical space to enjoy an elevated coffee moment. And I'm not kidding when I say elevated. They serve really good quality coffee roasted by Thornton Family Roasters (I bought a bag of the Peru San Ignacio and it's both fuel and yummy). They server a variety of coffee drinks from standard drip, espresso drinks, and cold brew/iced coffee. Their pastry case looks good. I was only able to partake of a snickerdoodle on this visit, so have to go back and really order up. What puts the the coffee here into hyperdrive is they will add a shot of a wide selection of spirits to your preferred cup of Java. They also have, get this, Bourbon and Gin Lattes, Spiked Lemonade, White Russian ("...there's a beverage here!"), and an Irish Coffee. I'm definitely coming back here to imbibe a goodly spirted coffee in the fall when it gets cooler, and park myself in one of the nice cushiony chairs in the beautiful and serene upstairs lounge (the downstairs and outside porch area are all top notch too) and contemplate the meaning of life. When you get to Symposium Coffee in Sherwood, get one of their coffees and a pasty, pick and area to plop down, and you will get my drift.

Great coffee, great pastries, great vibes. My iced white mocha was perfect, my husband loved his black coffee, and the blueberry scone + chocolate cookie was amazing. Super chill atmosphere and quick- efficient service. Highly recommend!!!

We always stop here during our Oregon trips. They have great coffee. They also offer the option to add a shot of liquor to your drink. We arrived at opening this morning. The temperature was a crisp 25 degrees. The lattes were exactly what we needed. The staff was friendly. We enjoyed our drinks in the upstairs seating area. We highly recommend this spot.

Had a business meeting here over coffee and a pastry. Pastry was delightful, coffee was a drip with cream, nothing fancy, but a most perfect cup of coffee. Always been a great place to go to eat, sit, even drink (they have a whiskey and bourbon offering).

Went here for the first time last weekend and it was absolutely lovely. I got a black coffee with salted caramel syrup added in, and my partner got a dirty chai! We also got the BLTA to share. Food-wise everything was great. We are coffee LOVERS and the coffee here is very good. The dirty chai was very well spiced and just delicious. The BLTA likewise did not disappoint!! This place is unique in that it has an upstairs space. We came to study and we got a bunch done. All around were other people getting work done, and some groups just chatting and enjoying themselves. Throughout our time here people also congregated outside under the patio, chatting (even though it was pouring!!) Overall I picked up a cozy community vibe at this coffee shop. Service was great, and the staff were very friendly and patient. There are plenty of spots with outlets, and thus I highly recommend studying here!!

Just an FYI, because this place gets busy they request you limit your visit to 1.5 hours. Now the menu. It is vast and everything sounded so good. Between the pastries, the yummy drinks, and the menu items, I had a hard time picking. I went with a muffin and a latte. The blueberry lemon muffin was large and so tasty. I ordered a plain latte to get a baseline on the coffee making skills. It was pretty good. I'll have to try one of the seasonal drinks next time I go. This place is small. Tables are close together. I could hear everyone's business. So keep that in mind. I am going to return when I have a bit more time. Probably a bit earlier in the morning to make sure I can get a table.

Employees are pleasant, and gave excellent recommendations. You order at the counter and they give you a number. You find yourself a table. They have mugs if you consume your coffee in their premises. They also offer to go cups if that is what you want. I ordered the European fried rice. The Portuguese sausage, and avocado complimented it well. They don't skimp on their portions. I also had the mocha which was perfect. Their dessert case looked delightful. Looking forward to returning, and trying other items on their menu, and of course some pastries. Make sure to give Elka Bee's a try.

Walking in at 9AM, they had plenty of prepicked pints on a table and also an entire field of strawberries available for U-Pick. Pricing is actually cheaper for the pre-picked pints, but I assume that's because U-Pick means you're eating while picking as well. Red Berry Barn grows three types of strawberries on their farm. Firstly, probably 30-40 rows of Hoods, then some Shuksans, and finally the ever popular (for farmers, given the day-neutral designation) Albion. It's actually quite easy telling the three apart. The Hoods are overgrown, barely kept organized into rows, with lighter color leaves hiding all of the strawberry red deliciousness hiding underneath. The Shuksans in the center, are the tallest of the plants, with striking dark green foliage. The Albions in the last rows look almost emaciated, with small leaves barely able to support the ample stock of strawberries growing from them. Red Berry Barn doesn't have any particular system for organized picking unlike some other U-Pick farms. Most the field was flush with berries, so we just wandered around wherever we wanted to pick the strawberries. We went here specifically to purchase and pick Hoods. The strawberries here aren't like those of other farms. For some reason, the Hoods are much larger, perhaps 3-4x the size of other Hoods, but still with the protruding cap. The outer shell is also quite a bit harder than the typical soft Hood. The taste isn't the same either, being still sweet and plump with good strawberry fragrance, but missing some of the perfumy quality an excellent Hood has from some of the non U-Pick farms. The skin is also much firmer - usually Hoods only last a day or two before going bad due to how delicate their skins are, but on Day 2, these strawberries were still firm. I have no idea if it's the terroir or the growing and fertilizer regimen fed to the strawberries or not. The Shuksans didn't seem to be ready at the time we visited. I tried a couple that looked ripe on the plants, but they were still mostly hard and tasted like sour water. The Albions, however, were among the best Albions I've had, at least the most ripe ones which consist of perhaps only 5% of the crop. They're super sweet and almost reach Hood levels of perfumy quality but with a different taste. Most Albions, however, basically taste like cold storage grocery store strawberries. Just to hammer it in more - the best of the everbearing and/or day neutral varieties like Albion can be great, but on average, they are worse than June-bearing varieties! Albion especially I think is built for shelf life thanks to the waxy coat on the exterior and the firm interior. We ended up buying a half flat of Hoods to save us some time, and picked up a $16 basket that probably fit around 3-4 pints of strawberries. Red Berry Farm derinitely does in a pinch to get some fresh strawberries. I don't think their Hoods are as good as from other farms, but they're still miles better than any grocery store strawberry.
