Dr. V has been assisting me with a "vestibular malfunction". It's not vertigo, but it's something. Initially skeptical with Rx from my Md. Through manipulation & visual and exercises, therapy seems to be helping. Office staff is pleasant. Crossword puzzles in the waiting room actually have me coming in earlier than appt time. Came for pain in the wrist as I was unable to type for more than a few minutes without pain. I came in for a total of 4 visits and was able to really resolve the issues that stemmed from a sprained wrist. I was really glad to fix my issue without taking a ton of pain med and have a series of exercises that I will be doing in the future to prevent further injury. I can't say enough good things about Synapse. I was referred by my ENT for Vestibular Rehabilitation due to extreme dizziness. Dr. Matt Villanueva was a great combination of challenging and showing compassion. He performed the Epley Maneuver which resulted in quick relief of symptoms and gave me exercises to do to strengthen my vestibular system. I actually got a little teary eyed when I was released from therapy because I was just so grateful to have been given my life back. I first came to Synapses at probably one of my lowest points, physically. I had medical information from about four different doctors and yet no concrete cause for the pain and discomfort I was in. I was so use to doctors being disconnected and only interested in my symptoms and not the person experiencing them. But that wasn't that case at Synapses. They spoke with me, in length, got to know me, and truly cared about my well being. I can truly say I looked forward to coming to physical therapy. Partly because of how I was treated, but also because of the actual treatments themselves. Not just isolated treatments, but whole body health, from the inside out. First few appointments I could feel and notice improvements physically. Each week we worked on the root causes for my pain, being sure to note any new things that would pop up and tackle those as well. My experience with Mila and her staff was more then I could of ever asked for. I went in there a broken mess and Mila not only was able to find my problem areas and diagnose why I was having this issues but showed me how to maintain the services she provided at home in order for my body to sustain the work she had done on me. I really felt hopeless when I began as a new patient with her but by the end of my 5 month treatment, I literally am a new person. I've had back, neck, and shoulder pain for about 8+ years. As a 28 year old, it's been difficult functioning on a daily basis. I've seen various doctors, chiropractors, and physical therapists. I was skeptical starting here at first. But, I am so glad I gave it a chance. Mila is so incredibly sweet, nice, caring, gentle, and friendly. She takes the time to evaluate you and really explain what is going on with your body. She teaches you different techniques and exercises to do at home in order to improve your functioning and decrease the pain. Her goal is to assist you as well as teach you how to manage the pain yourself. She's taught me a lot about my muscular and spinal issues. She also performs manual techniques that are all new to me (I've been to various PTs and none have been nearly as good). She genuinely cares about her patients and it's evident in how she tries to assist you. I highly recommend this place and am so happy to be working with her. It's easy to get appointments (they work hard to make sure there are many openings available throughout the week and every other Saturday). They have various equipment that they teach you how to use throughout your sessions. They tailor your sessions for your particular needs Also, Mila and I have conversations about everything! I had my 2nd neck surgery and was having a lot of pain in my upper back muscles.
