I hired Jenny to shoot my wedding last year, and it was the ONLY thing that I regret about our amazing wedding day. We found her on brooklynbride.com and really liked her style from what we saw on her website. We really wanted someone who could capture the amazing candid moments that really make the day special. I should also preface this by saying that my husband owns a web design studio and works with amazing photographers, so we sort of pride ourselves with having a pretty discerning eye. I also want to add that our wedding was incredible, I wore a Monique Lhullier dress, we had the Dexter Lake Club Band and an incredible caterer. There was no stone left unturned. And we had no problem spending the money if we were getting a quality result. We were so excited to see our photos, thinking that the day and night were so unbelievably awesome, how could you possibly fuck up the photos? Well she fucked them up royally. If I could give zero stars I would, but I think you get the point. We did an engagement shoot with her and we were pretty happy with the results, though mostly because the tinting of the photos looked nice. The photos (after 3-4 months of waiting) had absolutely no depth of field, horrible post production, terrible lighting, awful angles and just all together a terrible vibe. She was completely inept at capturing the amazing feeling and warmth of the event at all. I actually think she had her assistant (some no talent hack) taking most of the photos. Not a single relative asked for a photo keepsake because they thought they all looked so unbelievably unflattering, fat, pasty, shiny... you name it. People were and are pissed since they spent so much time and money getting their hair, makeup, dresses and whathaveyou and have nothing to show for it but fond memories. I was and still am devastated that we don't have any great photos of the wedding. Let alone a framable photo of me in my wedding dress. Shocked at what I saw when she sent me the link to her website (where she charges some ungodly price per awful print) we immediately demanded the raw images so we could even try to salvage them ourselves!!! I went through 4,000 raw images and tweaked the colors in iphoto just so we could have something to put into a frame. The decent thing for her to do would have been to offer us at least a portion of our money back and possibly apologize. Oh well, at least it is better to have bad photos of an amazing wedding than good photos of an awful wedding... I guess. I hope this review saves some of you the strife that i went through.

I feel very lucky to have found Sabina before she rockets into what will be a most stellar career…read more I found myself in need of a photographer for our small civil ceremony back in my hometown of SLO (okay, Atascadero, so shoot me). Being addicted to all things internet, I perused Yelp and Craigslist and found just a handful of postings that seemed credible. I emailed a few and greatly appreciated Sabina's prompt, courteous and informative reply. (Not to mention her online portfolio that showed a creative eye for photography and not a single cliched or cheesy shot.) With only a few descriptive emails back and forth (and not a single meeting or phone call), my husband-to-be and I arrived at the County Clerk's office, met up with Sabina and walked right in for our marriage license and civil ceremony. She did an impeccable job of capturing special moments and expressions in a rather drab county office and extremely small government 'chapel', all the while making everyone feel at ease. And, even better, we then headed outside. Sabina had already scouted out three great spots within two blocks for little, mini-shoots (all-the-while staying away from the Mission where every other wedding photo in San Luis comes from). With each setting, she managed to create wonderful candid shots that were unique and perfect and just looked happy. For a two-hour shoot (and a very reasonable price), we were so happy with what Sabina captured. Given our rather nontraditional wedding, I'm very glad that we'll have these photos and memories to keep. Sabina absolutely understood--and improved on--what I'd described in our email exchanges. And, the full suite of images was uploaded to an online album in less than a week. I would recommend Sabina without reservation. Her professionalism and attention to detail belie her young age and her talent, efficiency and creative eye all trump it all.

An especially admirable quality, is Sabina's willingness and zeal for thinking and literally seeing outside the box. Our most recent photo shoot was quite an adventure, climbing wild oaks, swimming through seas of ivy, and finding our way through barbed wire fences to reach a glorious field of yellow mustard plant. Alwyn was incredibly genuine, responsive, honest, and accommodating and we were so excited to find out she would be the videographer at our wedding! The survey Kiss the Bride provide was extremely useful not only to direct the videographer, but also to refocus what my husband and I really wanted to be captured. Watching all of the past Kiss the Bride highlights together (and ..tbh.. crying uncontrollably) was actually a huge bonding moment for my husband and I! When it finally came to the day of our wedding, we honestly have no words. I randomly came across Lighthouse while doing an internet search for renting a Glidecam camera rig and my interest was peaked by their low rates. Naturally, having never heard of or rented from them before, I gave a call just to get a lay of the land, see how they work. I was somewhat dumbfounded when the guy who spoke to me was belligerent almost from the get go (turns out, unbelievably, he was one of the owners of the place, his name was Thibault.) Asking normal professional questions - I was either cut off or spoken over, the guy telling me multiple times that he "didn't need to explain how he did business". Umm, not the best way to address a potential client. These are all very bad signs and despite all the other reviews here I would steer very clear. I wanted to write this as a warning for others. A rental house that is not professional will bite you in the behind in the long run. AVOID.

When I was shopping around to look for a 5D Mark II to rent back in September, I couldn't believe…read moreat how much some outfits were charging for a 4 year old camera body. I went and checked out all the usual big names (Adorama, CSI, foto care), but I felt as though I should be able to get more for my money. That, combined with the motivation from having a tight production budget (understatement of the century) lead me to stumbling upon Lighthouse. I will admit that I was initially skeptical about getting a 5D (from a shop I've never heard of) with a 32GB CF card when other companies were charging the same, or much more, for only a 8GB card. But in the end, I had no choice. All the other outfits had either rented out the 5D already, or the cost was too hard to justify. So I went ahead and set up an account with them, and came in the next day to pick up the 5D along with a shotgun mic, tripod, light, and light stand. I could not have been happier with the customer service. Thibaut was very patient with me as I threw a ton of questions at him on how to maximize the production quality on such a small budget. I think I actually like that Lighthouse is still relatively unknown amongst the other camera rental shops since I would have never been able to get a 5D on such short notice otherwise. But all good things come to an end I suppose. If you're reading this, then you're most likely debating to rent from them or not, but with their competitive prices and their healthy supply of equipment, how could you not?** ** Unless, of course, you're a Nikon fanboy like I am :). Unfortunately, this is purely a Canon shop as far as DSLRs go.

The day of the party he was there on time and ready to go! I had told him I wanted a more candid feel and he told me he understood exactly what I wanted. And he did! Many people let me know after the party that they saw him everywhere but he was rarely posing people. This resulted in so many shots that were completely natural! The photos really captured the happiness in the air and the positive vibe. The pricing was extremely fair, considering other photographers in the area charge easily 4-5x more. He got us our photos within two days! Highly recommended, am very pleased with his work and he was a pleasure to work with!
