The class size was small and there are plenty of feedback mechanisms in place throughout the course (and after) so that all your questions are addressed. There are opportunities after the class to practice at the Center with fellow practitioners at all levels, follow up with your teacher for technique checkings and participate in the community through performances and gatherings. So far, it's been a joy to be part of the practice, and to know that there is a beautiful, comfortable local space (filled with fresh flowers!) to visit when I want to practice in a more communal space.

I've been going to this center off and on for a few years. I'm not really a group class kind of…read moreperson, which is why I've taken a few hiatuses but this place is really great (why I've returned). The teachers are all experienced meditation teachers and do a good job making newcomers feel welcome while also helping more experienced people continue to develop. One way this works is that classes are structured so one can drop in anytime and understand what is discussed, but if you go consistently classes you will see how classes build on each other. I think the drop-in feature is great because, unlike a gym, there is no required commitment to try it out. A typical class contains a meditation session followed by a philosophical/spiritual discussion from a buddhist point of view. You don't need to be buddhist to understand what is discussed or learn the meditation techniques. I personally found it very interesting to ponder the philosophical discussions and to incorporate them into my daily life.

Some of my injuries and pain that I have had for years have been greatly relieved by his rolfing work and he's also just a great human being. I would totally go see him for his other services as well. Rolfing doesn't need to be super intense though it can be. He will calibrate to what you need

Soken is an incredibly gifted Rolfer and a wonderful human being. I'm a semi-competitive runner…read moretrying to get my body to feel as young as my mind! Despite being over 40 I still have faith that I'll be able to match the times of my youth. But with age comes little problems, which compound into larger ones. I initially came to Soken to treat a nagging achilles injury. After a couple sessions it was clear that the achilles pain was just a symptom of a greater structural imbalance which had effects all over my body. Soken carefully and effectively treated a host of issues that I didn't even know I had. In between treatments, I was able to train with greater fluidity but after just 3 sessions, Soken has made me feel as good as new. I feel a sense of stability, power and balance that I haven't felt for quite some time. I would recommend him for anyone seeking to increase their performance or address injury (he treated underlying issues from a should dislocation too which had bearing on my achilles injury). In short, he truly understands the connectedness of the body and is a master at helping people achieve their health goals.
