Syracuse Boxing began at the collegiate club level and expanded into the Syracuse, New York community at the historic Pastime Athletic Club.

Meet the Business Owner: Joseph S.

A native of Syracuse, NY, Joseph Stray started his boxing career back in 2004. Initialing training at the Northside Boxing Gym and then transferring under the wing of legendary boxing coach Ray Rinaldi, Stray's career took him to the Olympic qualifiers. After years of training at the West Area Athletic and Education Center (formerly known as the Syracuse Golden Gloves), Stray enrolled in Syracuse University (SU 2010-2014) where he would take up Sociology as a major. During his time at SU, Stray started the Syracuse University's Boxing Club and organized the first boxing match on SU's campus since 1957. The event doubled as a boxing showcase and community outreach program, bringing together inner city youth with collegiate boxers as organizers of the event. From his academic and boxing career, Stray developed an interest in transference.
