I have recommended countless friends and family members...until today... Today is the last day I will ever patronize Syracuse Nail & Spa. Usually, If I have a bad experience in an establishment, I chalk it up to misfortune and let it go. One bad review in the court of public opinion can really hurt a business and I come from a family full of small business owners. However, my integrity wouldn't let me NOT write this review... Today at around 1pm, my husband and I came to Syracuse Nail & Spa to enjoy his & her pedicures together. We were greeted and asked what services we wanted. I was told to pick my polish color. As i was doing so, 2 female employees became upset and rushed to the front desk with the male manager and started having a pressed conversation with my husband. The salon wasn't crowded so I assumed I could pick my chair and wait for my pedi to start. I was stopped and asked to wait. The male manager asked my husband a question i couldn't hear and my husband's response was "well, we've been here before and she's never had a problem". What problem? The male manager was trying to get the 2 female employees to calm down as they were now speaking rapidly in their language and pointing at me. The male manager explains to my husband: "if she (me) wants just color on her toes, we can do that, but in a regular chair. We can't let her sit in a spa chair for a pedicure because another'big girl' like her came here earlier this week and broke a chair. If you want anything other than polish on her toes, you'll have to leave". Talk about your heart stopping speechless moments. Yes, I am plus sized, always have been since I became a loyal customer here. Until today, I've never had a problem here or at any other salon. Bur to be publicly fat shamed and dismissed from an establishment was beyond my comprehension. If this is now the new atmosphere at SN&S, I will not only not participate with my patronage, but I'll speak out against it. What was the criteria in deciding I was a 'problem' and who else will be subjected to this?? I took the time to calm down and write this review to warn others so they can avoid a repeat of the painful experience I went through today. But no this: this is not the end. I will be contacting the owner in the morning and anyone else I can think of. My family, friends and social media platforms are livid and many will not be coming back to your establishment. This is not for my hurt feelings, this is because decency wouldn't allow you to treat someone like this. So although SN&S was happy to see me go, I will share my experience with EVERY AND ANYONE who will listen. Oh, and for the record: your competition up the street was more than happy to accommodate me & my husband. I was very pleasantly surprised and impressed. I haven't been able to find a decent nail salon since coming to Syracuse that is both reasonably priced and a nice experience, but this place definitely fits the bill. I was slightly nervous after reading a couple of the negative reviews, but appreciated how the owner took the time to politely respond to each of them. I went in for a mani/pedi and John was excellent (I would totally ask for him again!). The owner met us initially and didn't rush us at all as my friend and I decided what we wanted to get and chose our colors. The pedicure was very relaxing and was definitely full service - no skimping on cleansing, exfoliating, buffing, massaging, and taking time applying polish. with both the mani and pedi there was great attention to detail and I felt very well cared for. All would have been fine to stop there, but they also have a 20% discount for students - hip hip hooray for grad school! This will definitely be my place now! read more

I'm so disappointed. I got a gel mani and regular pedi. Paint job on toes was done extremely poorly, it was all over my skin. My manicure paint job was done poorly as well considering it's supposed to be black but it's practically see-through, as if it's like a water color or something (sorry , best example I could come up with ). Also, I paid for a MANICURE. That includes clipping the cuticles, right? He started painting my nails without doing the cuticles and so I said "am I getting charged for a polish change then?" the response was "no it's for a manicure". When I inquired about the cuticles he said they were already pretty low (they weren't) , but it's obvious he just forgot because he tried to cut them after the polish was done. Emphasis on the word *tried*. When I gave a $6 tip ($44 total, excluding tip) to reflect how I felt , the response was "that's it??" The 1 star is only for the fact that there were free snacks and they have a nice couch. they offer a student discount too but I'd suggest just saving your money. My mani/pedi overall looks really bad and I'm beyond annoyed with the service. read more

Horrible experience for my mother...she pointed to the 35 dollar special they had on door advertised and said I just want this. They wanted to up sell her more and she declined just wanted the special. They did the work and wanted her to pay $55! They locked her in the place and wouldn't let her leave!!! It's only taken me 4 years to find a great nail salon!! It's very nice on the inside and all of the employees were incredibly nice. The salon is very spacious and since it's new, everything was very clean. They just opened on October and I don't think many people know how good it is yet. Got a gel fill today and they came out great. The fill ended with a massage with a hot towel and the prices were pretty average. For students at LeMoyne or Syracuse- you get 20% off so it's totally worth it! Can't wait to go back ! read more

I got a basic mani & pedi, prices were very reasonable, staff was extremely pleasant. they carried my purse & shoes from station to station for me & when I smudged my own nail after not letting it dry completely, they had no problem touching it up for me. I've been going there for over a year pretty regularly but today I'm done. I've been annoyed with them before but gone back to give them chance after chance. They do have good color selection for gel polish and the lady who greets you is very nice and always remembered me but unfortunately her technicians never did. I tip generously but no one ever seemed to remember me or perform the same service the same way. Always skimping on some step or trying to sneak an extra charge in without asking. I get my manicures and pedicures to relax. This is a luxury expense and I go in feeling like I'm disturbing their day. I leave anything but relaxed. They are always talking loudly to each other, or have their phones out to watch a video or play a game. Loudly! Today one technician was on her phone on speaker while she was with a client. My nails come out well the majority of the time but every 3-4 visits they just suck. Today I had to repeatedly ask them to redo a nail. And it took forever! I paid for the VIP membership but I don't even care anymore, I'm done. If I'm paying $60-$80 a visit then I want to relax. I don't know how anyone could give less than 4 stars for this place. I came here once two years ago and I haven't gone anywhere since. They are always so kind and welcoming every time I go-I like to make an appointment because they tend to be very busy, but that's a good thing, right? My pedicures always last me about an hour which is perfect and then stay good for about 2 months. my gel manicures last me at least two weeks to a month which is more than I can say for most places. I've always gone to Syracuse Nails and Spa since being a student and never disappointed until now. My gel manicure was quick and took less than 10 minutes. They cut my nails but there was no work on my cuticles. The polish should have stayed under the light longer and the edges weren't even painted but when I went to a different woman when checking out, she just said that it's because they don't soften hands with water when it's a gel mani. 5 days later and the nails have chipped so badly. I was impressed with how clean the salon looked but when I walked in I was given straight attitude from the lady at the front desk because I had acrylic on my nails and they only use powder. (Which I didn't know) So I sat down to pick my color, and I was rushed to pick a color. This was my first time there. It's very clean and bright and comfortable. I got a gel manicure, but they have lots of different services. I'm never going back to the place I usually go. I'd done my homework and high hopes for this place. It was just ok. I made an appt for a friend and I to get pedicures, and we ended up waiting 20min to be seated. My pedicure was started and finished before anyone came over to start my friend. She say with her feet in hot (then cold water the whole time.) Then while I got a manicure, they finally started her. The price was higher than I saw advertised, I paid $37 for both mani & pedi. After they set us to dry, no one came over again to check on us or anything. Horrible. All male nail technicians (which I thought was odd. Okay, but odd). No one understands or speaks English. Skipped over all the basics of a manicure and pedicure. I had to ASK three times for him to actually clip my cuticles (pedicure)--he just rubbed the cuticle trimmer over my cuticles and didn't clip anything. Didn't scrub. Didn't do anything. He pointed at a bottle and lotion and expressed "do you want?" I thought it was lotion. It was $10 extra callous remover. Slapped it on and walked away. I had to ask the owner/manager what was going on and she informed me that it was extra. No. Remove. He didn't clarify cost. Remove. The manicure was equally awful. If i could rate this 0 stars I would. Asked for a simple acrylic fill for my acrylic overlay that had grown out.. Where do I begin? The technician proceeded to rip my nails off WITH A NYC METROCARD. My entire top layer of nail was ripped off along with the acrylic power using a New York City subway card. I had very long, natural nails and they were entirely ripped/cut/broke off. The technician (Danny) proceeded to cut off all my nails, as well as cut my finger causing me to bleed, to which he laughed and dabbed it with a paper towel. If I end up having any sort of infection from their unclean tools and method, you can bet there will be a lawsuit. Danny then went to put tips of all of my nails - then LEFT while I had full tips sitting on my nails to do another client. When he returned, I asked for him to take the tips off as I was clearly unhappy with my whole experience. He and another technician bickered back and forth with me for 5 minutes about how I 'needed' the tips, when the only reason the tips were put on was because my nails were entirely ripped and cut off. NEVER COME HERE. NEVER EVER EVER. I have never had such a horrible experience with truly rude and horrible staff, unsanitary conditions and an overall TERRIBLE time!!!! read more
