No square footage quotes means we're going to try and get every penny out of the customer we can. I had System Pavers bid a $100K paver project and was terribly disappointed with the quote. So a couple things here's about System Pavers quoting. No square footage, this is a huge red flag that anybody should be concerned with. How do you know they have an understanding of the amount of material and labor for the job? This is how contractors get themselves into trouble and why people get screwed because they're quoted a price that isn't correct for the job. TOTALLY UNPROFESSIONAL! Second very little description of the job, my quote says "Drive way" or "side yard", this is a very large project and there's a lot that could be miscommunicated and/or misunderstood and I get generic descriptions for the scope of work. I asked for a breakdown of cost (sq footage, material costs, labor costs) and the parameters of the work after the first quote but all I got was another quote with the individual projects priced out with same generic work descriptions. Soooo, Systems Pavers is not a good fit for us but I would be extremely concerned when you ask for the square footage and the sales person tells you "we don't really do it like that" apparently Systems Pavers is using a form of measurement that no one else in the world is using. Of course all of this is my opinion. Also, if you read some of these reviews it sounds like System Pavers is paying/discounting work for 5 star Yelp reviews, if this is true System Pavers, Shame on you! read more

I would give this company 'zero' stars if I could for honesty and transparency. I was looking to install a small paver patio in my front yard. The quote for 234 sq ft was ($9774 or $41.75/sq ft). Although I was told that the project would be about $35/sq ft. This is more than the industry average of $30-$38/sq ft, so beware and do the math before you think you are getting a good deal. System Pavers likes to 'toot their own horn' and tell you how much better they are than everyone else, but I had a very different experience. The terms of down payment, financing, cancelation, etc.. were NOT clearly explained at my 'free in person design consultation'. The contract was sent via email and was cumbersome and wordy. No one EVER said that I had 3 days to cancel before having to pay 10% of the cost of the project! So beware and be sure that you want to pay premium pricing before signing!! I did put a down payment on the project of more than required and have had difficulty getting any kind of refund. I believe all they can legally keep is %10, but the rep. sounded like he was doing me a favor to do that. I had to cancel because I had to make 2 emergency room visits in 1 weekend and felt I needed the funds designated for the paver project to pay for medical bills. When I finally reached someone in authority to refund my deposit, they were less than understanding and blamed me for not canceling in the 3 day window! They are very sneaky about slipping this clause into the contract and rigid about making the customer pay. Other paver companies do not have this business model and are more flexible. Absolutely NOTHING had been done up to this point other than my 'free design' which they took credit for and ended up costing me 10% or $977!! They offered to 'keep the deposit' and schedule for a later date, but I wanted absolutely NOTHING to do with this company!! They do not listen to the customer, have no compassion, just justify all their behavior and make excuses. It is difficult to reach someone and they are not transparent and did not cover all the details in person before making a decision. They were very flippant about financing, but if you need to cancel and don't do it in those 3 days, they will take your money!!! If they keep the excess deposit, then I guess I will need to get a lawyer! Hope this is helpful to any unsuspecting potential customers of System Pavers. read more

As is the case with most large projects, there were some delays along the way, as well as some confusion about the placement and design of some things. I feel strongly that this confusion could have been avoided with a CAD drawing or something similar. I appreciated the attention to detail, and their willingness to promptly correct something that did not look right to me or that did not meet my expectations (they're high!!). Do not hire this company!! Worst contractor I've ever dealt with. They insisted that I make the final payment before the clean-up was completed. Big Mistake! They left a terrible mess and now will not return my calls. I've had to hire other contractors to repair the mess that they left. They use a multi-page contract that is designed to intimidate the buyer from pursuing legal action. I'm going to try the State AG and/or Small Claims Court. read more

We were happy with the paving and pergolas but the gates they recommended have been a problem since they were installed. They never repaired the damage to our stucco and after it rains the gates do not work. They have attempted repair several times but they still do not work. The boards are warped and one gate cannot be opened or closed. The other gate is unstable and there is damage to the stucco that has worsened over time. For the money we spent, we do not think we got a good result. How disappointing! read more

I had a great experience with System Pavers doing a medium sized backyard landscaping job for me in December of 2015. My backyard was getting pretty muddy, with the dog gradually destroying what lawn I had. The solution to that was to replace the "lawn" with artificial turf and some paving, along with a new retaining wall. Before putting in the new turf the sloped area was made more level, which meant there was then room to put in a trampoline which the kids are loving. I had two disappointing experiences with System Pavers. I had done a large project with them that did not go well, but I decided to give them another shot. I requested a fixed price for the new project (I explained in writing how important it was that the price they quoted was accurate and complete) and they quoted me $16,000. I paid a deposit and put them on the schedule. However, when they came out to start the project, they raised the price by almost 50% . This felt like a "bait and switch" and was unacceptable, when I tried to find a solution with them, they refused to even come close to the original quote. Evidently their representative never visited the site even though it was less than 10 minutes from their office. As a business owner myself, I understand the importance of clear communication and meeting customer expectations. I was disappointed that System Pavers did not prioritize my needs as a customer. When I told them they needed to get within 20% of the original contract if we going to move forward they refused and canceled the contract, then they enforced a 20% cancellation fee. While I understand the need for cancellation fees, I don't believe it's fair to charge a fee when a company is unable to perform the contract that they prepared. To make matters worse, the General Manager, Josh, was verbally abusive on the phone when discussing the situation. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable and unprofessional. Overall, I would not recommend System Pavers to others. Their unwillingness to work with customers, and unprofessional behavior make for a frustrating experience. This review is in regards to the sales team and not the work. TL;DR I was verbally quoted one price and when I got the actual quote they had ramped up the price 20%. When I asked about it, the sales person ghosted me. I contacted System Pavers based on a flyer I received in the mail about a friends and family special. I was looking to install a paver patio and was looking at about 750 s/f. I did a little research on Google and saw that prices in the area should run on the high end about $15,000 maybe as much as $17,000 with a few features I was interested in. I set up my virtual consultation with a Mr. K. The first half went well, we talked about stone color and what I wanted. He assured me they could do it all. Fantastic. Then we started talking price and Mr. K comes in at over $26,000 for ballpark without features. I told Mr. K what I had seen online for pricing and he said he figured his pricing on about $35 s/f. Que jaw hitting the floor. I asked if that included the friends and family discount and he said no. Mr. K seemed very confused and was not even aware they were running that promotion. I start to lose confidence here as I don't understand how he doesn't know where his lead came from, I returned a mailer his company sent me. We talked a little bit longer and decided maybe my project didn't need to be as big as I originally planned. Anyway I asked him to send me a written quote with everything. I get the quote at 489 s/f and it is right at $21,000 before discounts. I pick my jaw off the desk and I do the math. $21,000 divided by 489 comes out to $42.40 s/f a 20% increase from our conversation. He then took off 15% for the friends and family. So I sent Mr. K an email asking him to explain the increase in price. Remember the $35 s/f didn't include a friends and family discount. Mr. K called me afterwards, unfortunately I was on my way out the door to head to work and could not talk long. When I challenged him on the written not matching the verbal quote he said he forgot to add the early booking discount. It was BS, you could tell how he fumbled over his words. So he sends me a new quote with the early booking discount at 10%. Hey now we have a 15% friends and family and a 10% early booking, that is pretty awesome. However, this is coming off the $42.40 not the $35 and if you take 10% off of $42 you get $38 not $35. So Bullshit meter is flying off the handle at this point. I start making other calls around and after five calls I don't have a single ballpark quote over $15,000 without features. Not a single one. So I write Mr. K and tell him this. I mention if he takes the discounts off the $35 s/f instead of the $42 then he almost becomes competitive with his competitors. Still 30% higher but at least in the outfield bleachers of the same ballpark. At this point Mr. K ghosts me. Doesn't return my email, nada. That is fine I do not want to speak with him again. I then call the office and want to speak to his manager, his manager we will call Mr. C. I leave a message for him to call me but not after a certain time as I go to work. He calls after that certain time and I can't take the call. His message basically said that all the discounts I could be given were given. Which was not even my point at all. I have tried to call Mr. C back 3 times only to go to voicemail each time. These are not people I can imagine that I would ever want to do business with and I will continue to spread my story to every single person that will listen. This is my review on their inefficiency in handling new customers and not any specific work they have done or any contractor or employee. It's been more than 4 weeks that initial consultation was done, after that no response whatsoever, no email no phone call even though I was told that a detailed quote and proposed design would be shared the next day. I called their customer care 3 times in 2 weeks and was told the same thing, "couldn't get hold of the contractor who did the work, left a vm etc, escalated to manager, someone will reach to you" It is really disappointing to see how they ignore customers requests and feedback. My wife and I wanted to update our backyard with Pavers and Synthetic Turf. We met with the Project Manager and he drew up a sketch of what our back yard would look like and the cost. When the project started the first two days of demolition went great and when the pavers started to be installed is when everything went downhill. The project manager came by to check on the crew and noticed the wrong pavers were ordered. This delayed the project two days until the correct pavers were delivered. In the meantime, System Pavers sent the crew to another job that must have paid more than our job. The crew was supposed to show up at 9am and would not come until Noon or later. After the crew completed our project, they left a horrible mess that we were left to clean up. We found cut pavers all over the yard, plus crushed empty beer cans. There was a gap in the Synthetic Turf around one of the edges, so System Pavers agreed to lay new turf. The same gap appeared after the second turf install. We were told to sign the final paperwork and pay the final payment and that this issue was on the punch list and would be corrected. After numerous phone calls, I was instructed to file a Warranty claim regarding the turf. The warranty person came out and saw the gap and stated that he would be able to fix in the Spring. Fast forward to the Spring, they attempted to stretch the turf and did not completely fix the gap. I was told that was the best they could do and nothing else would be done to make the situation right. read more

I filled out a response card, as we have a ton of concrete we are going to need taken out and reinstalled. Biggest mistake of my life. They have been calling and spamming me ever since, in spite of repeated requests to stop. I have told them I'd call when we were ready and they persistently asked when a good time to call back was. I reiterated that WE would call THEM. I just got yet another call from them. We have a new sidewalk, whimsical style, tree ring base, and mowing edge for the lawn. We signed in January of 2018 for work to begin in July. We timed my husband's vacation during the work so he could help with anticipated foundation and siding issues once the front steps were removed. Because System Pavers could not start the first week of that vacation we eliminated the removal of the front entry slab and steps, one-sixth of the $30,000 job. My husband could only help the first week of work in August. He helped with moving dirt and rocks, saving wheelbarrow time, and repaired sprinklers that were damaged with soil removal. Since all the soil that was removed for the sidewalk area was store-bought, we put it on the back of the property instead of having it hauled away. Workers do not have a firm grasp of English. The do not always pick up their fast-food garbage. Often, I would be picking up fast food wrappers or drink cups from under landscaping. I am still finding paper napkins and plastic utensils in odd places. Instead of using a tarp or working in only one place to mix concrete or dump gravel, they dump excess concrete over grass, landscaping, a grape arbor, behind rhododendrons, or wherever they are working. You will find areas of lawn where grass cannot grow through the concrete layer. Workers left four razor blades in the grass after they finished. Workers force things that don't move: they tried to force a gate the wrong way and move a fixed light pole with a truck. Even if you watch them, you will find scratches on your new fence posts and gates, and chips on steps they worked near. One neighbor angrily asked that they sweep up their gravel when they parked in his driveway. They had permission to dump sod and rocks on another side of the house, instead of hauling it off, but there are still big rocks that they lazily threw behind landscaping rather that dump in the dump space provided. Picking up one such rock, I tore my rotator cuff. I have spent weeks vacuuming the lawn to remove gravel so grass can grow, and breaking up concrete to allow the return of grass. Work was completed the third week of August, but as of the second week of October, we have not received 15 of each style of brick they promised. The finished walk is a lovely work of art, but I wish I had known how much work they would make for me. If System Pavers had done the work 18 years ago, before the landscaping and dozens of loads of rock-free soil, these issues would not have irked us so. read more

I needed to replace a stained concrete front porch and 60 yr old sunken brick courtyard. I hired System Pavers. I was concerned by the poor reviews on Yelp but went with them anyway. Boy am I glad I did! It was a high pressure sale, but that didn't bother me. Brian was very helpful in designing and helping me choose a color. I loved the option of no interest pmts for a year. One issue, the date did change 3 times. That was a bit frustrating, but knowing construction, I wasn't totally shocked. This needs to change. While waiting, I changed my mind. I was afraid it wouldn't be what I wanted. Brian came back out and worked with me. I decided to go through with it. It was supposed to take a week. They found that the concrete on my porch was considerably thicker than first thought. Still, it only added 1 day to it. The workers were efficient, knowledgable and when they left, I had nothing to clean up. It was spotless. Wish I knew their names. One was Brazilian and 2 were Honduran. Very pleasant! One thing I recommend: If they have to break up concrete, they need to put plastic over doors and windows. It took me quite a while to clean up the fine dust that found its way through. The second day, I complained and they immediately covered everything. This is the ONLY reason for 4 stars, not 5! This huge job took just over a week. We hired System Pavers to replace our gravel driveway with a paver driveway. Kirk (sales rep) was very friendly and explained all of our options in terms of aesthetics and cost. He helped us work out a solution that saved us a bit of money on the project overall. Don was our project manager and delivered a beautiful finished result. The quality of the driveway is top notch. We've gotten so many compliments from friends and neighbors, and my wife and I are very happy we got the work done - it really adds to the beauty of the house! The work comes guaranteed for 25 years, which is a great plus. I would say the only downside is that the project was on the upper range of what our research said a job like this can cost. Overall, I'd recommend System Pavers. Updated July 16, 2018 (2 stars, down from 5) While we've continued to be satisfied with the quality of the work, I'd have to say that after putting the warranty to test in practice, we've been unable to get System Pavers to help us. We had to rebuild/repour the foundation of our detached garage. This required some of the pavers at the edge of the driveway to be moved temporarily. I have tried to get System Pavers out to repair and reset the area, but the responses have been slow, unenthusiastic, and laden with excuses. When I thought we had settled on an appointment, the rep didn't show and didn't call. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't go with System Pavers. They justified the higher cost of the project (2-3x of what some others quoted) with the warranty; don't believe the pitch. Go with someone cheaper. read more

Our driveway was in need of a major makeover and we contemplated doing either concrete as a replacement or look into pavers. We contacted System Pavers and were immediately scheduled for a free consultation. The work was finished in roughly 3 weeks including removal of all the extra pavers and debris. We ended up extending the project to include a backyard patio which we know we'll be very happy to use once the summer months arrive. Bob, our project manager for the job, was great to work with. He communicated timely with us and ensured we were happy with the results. He did a good job answering all our questions and making sure things were in order. The craftsmanship is nice (there were a lot of corners to account for and "bends" in the design) and we are happy with how it all turned out. The only constructive feedback I would call out was that the designer who we met with for our free consult was salesy and asked that we give an answer to the cost estimate while he was still onsite for the consult. It was a big job and to expect that on the same day was a little off-putting. A small planter pot was broken during the efforts and there was a lot of asphalt chunks remaining in one of my flower beds following the work. While I realize it's hard to get it all, it would have been nice if the crew had tidied up the area to a higher bar. All this aside, I would recommend System Pavers (and have referred them to a friend) post project. read more

I can't believe this place is still in business. We had a back yard rebuild done by them a couple of months ago. All seemed ok until we turned on our sprinklers, and realized that they had broken pipes all over our yard. So no working sprinklers. Then the turf that they put in starts to come up within a month, lights that they installed are broken. It takes us weeks to get anyone to respond! So then they come back.. a couple repairs are done but still a broken sprinkler system. They left several large nails in the yard risking the safety of our child and our animals and guests. So we call again and no one fixes anything. The sprinkler is still a mess and today's guy comes rolling into my back yard, absolutely no warning that he's coming, doesn't bother to knock on our door and tell me he's here, so warning from the foreman that he's coming, but he tinkers around a bit, checks the sprinkler box in the garage and then breaks my GARAGE DOOR! Doesn't say anything, just takes off and once again, no one is calling me back! We spent $40k and have a complete mess. I am so patient but this has been so unprofessional! We have neighbors we referred to system pavers but have since gone back and advised them not to use their business. We have put complaints into the corporate hq in CA and still are not receiving the support that we would expect. Would not recommend this company. read more

1 star for Chris, our design consultant, and 1 star for the end result. The lack of the remaining 3 starts is for everything in between. 1) We were given a tentative start date and were told that if it changes it would be earlier, not later. Our project started 3 weeks after that date. And I had to follow up with System Pavers when the tentative date was a week away since they said there would be a walk through and final material confirmation before the work started 2) They ask where you want the materials to live while on your property. None of the material was where we requested. It was scattered all over my driveway, making it very challenging to maneuver around it. 3) They ask if you want them to work on weekends and we said no. They worked on a weekend and a holiday. 4) Our "professional" work crew was a family of 4, a father who didn't speak english, his early 20's son and daughter, and the son's girlfriend. The son was on work release from prison. 5) Instead of removing the excess dirt from our property, they dumped in my flower beds and other areas of my property, killed some of my plants and created a large amount of work for me to clean that all up when it wasn't necessary. 5) The crew was messy. They left tools, equipment and trash laying around everywhere during the entire process. I still have some of their things and garbage lying around and they're done with the job. 6)The crew ran over 4 of our driveway lights and a tree I had planted. 7) The job should have taken 2 weeks but it took an extra 4 weeks for them to come out, fix our punch list items and clean up a bit. We were no longer a priority for them. System Pavers should consider employing their own work crews. I know it's difficult to manage people that don't work for you but their behavior and work ethic reflects on the company that hired them. Profit shouldn't always be the driving factor. This was a bad experience for us. read more

System pavers really is great company and they are really concerned about placing a quality product and installing it the right way. I feel the success in working with this company was doing my research knowing how a patio system is installed, knowing the different quality and textures of stones (note that big chain hardware stores don't sell really good products, they are usually very fragile and color does not fully penetrate paver) and also knowing the price point. I am not kidding when I say this the price difference for my $15,000 project was almost a $5000 difference between bids and did not include demo of old patio and system pavers included a patio. Here are the most important thing to me done well: 1. Price was good product had color throughout then stone (important if stone is chipped) 2. Planners and designers were spot on when we told them the design we wanted. 3. Started when they said they would 4. Crew was fast, kept sight clean, important to me as I have toddlers 5. They set then outside border in concrete, important as the plastic strip with pegs still shift and move stones 6. Weed guard protects weeds from coming up through stones. 7. Very good clean up. 8. Included a nice border not included with other bids The only downside was the sales pitch was very pressured, but if you do your homework and know what your getting, this does not matter. I called and scheduled for 2 weeks after our deposit was taken. No problem they said. Day 1 "first promised day" We were called the day before to re-schedule by System Pavers at 4:30pm. Ruined one full day of schedules as we planned to be there and had changed our schedules around for this day. Day 2 "second promised day" After a Guarantee from the Salesman and Construction scheduler that they would be there. NO SHOW Again. Called at 10am asking where they were. Song and Dance blah blah Salesman and Manager promised again they would be there and to keep the business gave a poultry discount to us. Day 3 "3rd promised day" Conversation with now construction manager. Guaranteed a 8am meeting the next morning with crew to follow at 9am to get job done in 2 days. Day 3...........NO SHOW again. Construction Manager promised at 8am didn't show or call. We had planned a third day around this company. Telling them we had to leave no later than 8:30am. Called Salesman and cancelled project. Received deposit back 4 days later. In fact Hired a different Company and received the Deposit back After the other company completed the work for 20% less money. Same product. Worst Sub Contractor we dealt with in a 1 year remodel of our home. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Salesman bragged of size of company and how good they were. I fell for it. What a joke. read more

The actually product was fine, not great, but not horrible. The experience leading up to it and afterwards was less pleasant. After being subjected to a very hard sell, where the price kept fluctuating, I agreed to the work based on their guarantee. The work was scheduled to start on a Monday, it didn't actually happen until the next Friday, forcing me to reschedule my work twice. When it came time to pay, the price had changed...not a lot, but enough to make me wary. If you do business with them, I'd get EVERYTHING in writing. The start dates, the costs, the design they are going to use. I will personally never use them again, as I hate being jerked around. read more
