We purchased a historic home in Oxnard and got an estimate to replace a number of walkways and patios around the property. The estimate came to over $75k. Joe Camacho was great as the salesperson, but System Pavers has an arbitration clause in their contract (which most people don't know to fight) which usurps my 6th amendment right to a jury trial. If something were to go wrong, I would not be able to take them to court, I'd be forced into arbitration and if either party loses, there is no appeal. I've never in my life had a company refuse to waive the arbitration clause, but System Pavers chose to keep it in the contract and lose my business. BE FOREWARNED about arbitration clauses and any company that is so fearful of court they force their customers to give up their right to a jury trial. UPDATE: I contacted the Contractor's State License Board and found out that the System Paver's contract didn't have the proper wording regarding arbitration clauses. So basically they are requiring all of their customers to agree to an arbitration clause even though California Business and Professions Code Section 7191 has very precise language about what their contract should have in it, but doesn't. I sent this information to System Pavers and they sicked their lawyers on me who said they'd review the information but would "not offer further commentary." Who talks like that??? System pavers exceeded our expectations. We originally met with Jay for our quote. He drew us a to scale map of the project and helped us pick the stone that would work beast for our project with tangible samples of the stones at our house. Once we signed on Colin was our Project manager. He came out before project started to prep us for what to expect. He then came to the job site a couple times every day to make sure the project was going according to plan. We were so pleased with how things were going that we doubled the size of our project half way through. Colin got us a new quote same day and still managed to get his crew to finish before the competition date of the original scope. His crew was diligent and friendly and incredibly talented. System pavers weren't the least expensive bid we received, but they were worth it. No hiccups that weren't addressed on the spot, promptly and professionally. We have three big "No Soliciting" signs but this guy ignored them and walked to the door and interrupted what I was doing. How inconsiderate! Harley and his team did an incredible job completely reinventing our yard. Before System Pavers came along, our yard was a muddy, waterlogged mess. Even when there was no rain, the ground was soggy and muddy. Grass wouldn't grow and the yard was unusable by my family, pets, kids, friends, etc. We explained our drainage issues and concerns to Harley and his team and they took extra care to come up with specific and thoughtful solutions to address our problem. The team worked quickly and diligently to get the work done and Harley made sure to survey the work and address any shortcomings before we signed off on the yard as complete. Back in September of 2011, System Pavers replaced our driveway and adjacent concrete at the side of our house. It was a difficult project and SP crew did a great job. Over the past twelve years, our brick front porch and steps (which we did not replace in 2011) had developed cracks. If price transparency is important to you, then avoid these guys. If morals and professionalism matter, find another company. System pavers was the first company I had come out for a quote, it was the 30th of the month and the sales guy essentially made me believe the $2 off deal was a once in a lifetime/"never happens" and the offer ended at the end of the month and basically strong armed me to sign, so I did. Ironically, when I finally got the work done, the current offer was "$3 off a sq ft". It ended up not even mattering bc what I was sold as part of my contract price was no longer available when my final contract with work was signed - even though I signed to "lock in the deal" (free converter for over $15k). I had 400 sq feet of pavers and an 18 inch high/6ft long sitting wall. The 18 inch wall was actually installed on a slant so half of it is 12 inches and then gradually goes up to 18 inches. I have about $2k in material left over bc it wasn't properly written up and accurately measured by a contractor, just my sales rep (who didn't like me). They said too bad they don't take material back that was over ordered, I just have to eat it even tho they measure etc and they were off. Anyways, I paid $20k for all of this - 400sq ft and a 6ftX18inch wall with Angelus pavers which is the cheaper of the two they offer. I was told, the wall was about $5k, but not even sure if that is right. That would leave $15k for 400 sq ft or $37.50 a sq ft which is extremely high, especially after $2 off, so they charge $40 a sq ft. They will never tell you a per sq ft price, btw. Prices were constantly changing and they refused to produce, in writing, an itemized contract. The sales guy, David, made me extremely uncomfortable and on several occasions was very inappropriate in how he spoke to me. I was very nice and professional and would ask for simple price details or questions and he would get irritated with me. I called the corp office and asked to work with someone else. The manager, Jeff, called me and I said please don't tell David and he said he wouldn't and would call me back the next day, never heard from him again despite multiple calls back to him. The next morning David called me and very direct asked me "I heard you talked to my manager. why did you call my corp office - what's the problem?". Things went from bad to worse with David. I had no choice but to work with him and did my best to stay on his good side and just see it through but in the end pretty sure he over estimated the job and charged me for things he said he wouldn't bc I called his corp office. I will never know for sure but do know I have no idea how much I paid for what etc and have $2k+ in left over material in my back yard. 2 stars bc the men who installed the pavers were incredible, very professional and the most kind people to work with. Called them to and requested an estimate. 10 days later, I finally received a phone call from a local rep, inquiring about my project. I laid out my simple design wishes for a very small patio makeover. I was told 'we have a promo going on now, so that could save you up to $9,000.' Then quoted me $20-$25k to put concrete paver stones on a 300 sq. ft. patio. (So... without the 'promo,' their price would have been $29-$34k?!) When I told the rep that his quote was triple that of other contractors, he said, "Well, we're not for everybody. But good luck with your project." Before I could respond, the rep abruptly hung up on me. Look, dude, you can't be over-priced and rude. Hard pass on this company. read more

I had System Pavers redo my entire backyard back in 2013. The work was outstanding and the support phenomenal. Recently, one of my low voltage lights burned out, or so we thought, and Diego Guzman came out to address the issue. Diego replaced the bulb and all was well, or so we thought, but then that light burned out too. Something was amiss. Diego came back out and did a thorough testing of the circuit only to find there was a short where the wiring was run under the pavers. He took out the pavers and took care of everything that needed to be done to properly fix the problem. Diego made sure I was kept up to speed on the progress of the work, when he arrive, and did a thorough clean up when he was done. Diego is a keeper! read more

We bought our home in Wood Ranch in Simi Valley about 5 years ago. The previous owners had System Pavers install a beautiful driveway and patio in the back yard! We were able to transfer their original warranty to us as the new homeowner. There was a 25 year warranty on the pavers and a 10 year warranty on the turf. Over the last 5 years they have honored the warranty twice on the pavers and most recently on the turf. Without any pushback they fulfilled their warranty. We were fortunate to work with Jimmy from System Pavers and he organized his crew who were polite, on time and very talented. They performed the warranty work with professionalism. A year and a half ago, we hired System Pavers to redo our driveway: changing it from stamped concrete to pavers. At the time, we knew we wanted to do the same thing to our back patio, but we figured it would be smart to try them out on a somewhat smaller project first, and then tackle the much larger and more complicated back yard once we knew we were satisfied. (Back yard is ~2,000 sq ft.) You can find my review of the driveway project below dated ~2/2019. Needless to say, we were delighted with the work they did in 2019, and therefore asked to have the same project manager (Jimmy Jackson) again this year. That said, Jimmy had a long weekend planned out of town during our project, but things continued without a hitch, with Rich Daugherty stepping in to cover in Jimmy's absence -- absolutely seamless service! The project started 2 weeks ago tomorrow, and was completed today: only 10 working days in that time frame! Note that my husband had delayed moving forward on this project because he guessed it would take them a minimum of 4 weeks to complete it, with at least 2 weeks of jack hammering the old concrete. Wrong! It was more like 3 days of demo, followed by 7 days of construction -- and the demo was all by hand: there was no way for a bobcat to access our back yard, so the guys used jack hammers and wheelbarrows to remove all that concrete. They are are FAST! They are also artisans: our house is of modern design, so the pool and back patio have lots of corners, which were mitred beautifully. (See pics). They also added drainage to the patio, thereby solving a prior problem. The detail work was simply awesome! Any question we raised, they addressed, and we saw Jimmy or Rich here daily, ensuring that everything was picture perfect. Our backyard has been awful since we moved into our house about 12 years ago, brand new, originally a dirt backyard and we did our own stone in the back (with a lot of 'direction' from my father-in-law, "...but how about we... can we do... ah, okay, we'll do it your quicker way," just sayin') and it came out... meh. But better than dirt. And, I put in the grass, etc. Anyway, our shared fence with the neighbor fell down and we were going to get that fixed, share the cost. We started getting quotes from various vendors to fix that and then some submitted quotes of, "Well, if you want a new deck, we can add that on for x-amount." That got us thinking of other options for just that. But, we had a base of quotes to know what was good or not. We've heard of System Pavers for a while now and got a hold of them to get a quote. David came out and went over everything, offered us a good deal compared to what we were getting. You do pay a little more than some rando company that you never hear of again, but these guys were still right on par with everyone else. We decided to go with their staying power as a company. David came back a couple days later to go over the stone we selected, to show us in person vs. the pictures and I actually thought they looked a lot better than the pictures, but the color was accurate. And, my wife forced him to eat dinner with us... and he pretended it was good :) If you have trees around your new area, they have to either work way around them but ideally you have to cut them down so the pavers don't lift-up. After getting quotes for a ton of money, I bought myself a $70 chainsaw and did those myself... saved money there. We had two very destructive trees with huge roots that destroyed my sprinkler lines and were starting to go against the brick walls and lift my other fence. I got those down but then still had to get two stumps out. After three hours of trying to get one out, screw that, not doing that. I started getting quotes but that was a pain so David got us his guy and it was around $200-something, so that was a lot better than the $300+ quotes I was getting. Okay, the work. I was shocked here... how quickly it came together. I think they got the demo done in about a day (stripping the old nasty weed-infected grass, old stone, concrete, etc.)... then in the next day, they got the cement foundation down then started with the pavers. I think it took maybe four days...? The only thing I'm not totally sure about is that it's held together with sand, so I don't understand that vs. mortar but we'll see how that holds up, but my wife is worried about sprinkler water washing that away, which is valid. So, I trenched some new sprinkler lines to divert that as much as possible. Overall... loved the experience. It went a lot smoother than I expected, honestly. We love the new area and it looks a lot bigger than we expected. read more

Ok, I know this is super cheesy, but after the crews were done and we were admiring the work, my husband literally said "I'm glad we decided to go with System Pavers!" I was like, you sound like a commercial, but I agree! LOL! Danny (designer), Jimmy (project manager) and all the crews were amazing to work with. They showed up to start the project exactly when they said they would. The pavers crew actually finished their work in just 3 days!! They were scheduled to finish it in 5 days which would've also been impressive. I've watched another crew work on my neighbors yard and they've taken 5 times as long... Danny and Jimmy were always available whenever I had questions. They were also great at walking us through the process in it's entirety and keeping us up to date of the schedule if there were any changes. One of my favorite parts was the dashboard they have on the website. It lets you know every little step in the process, including the completion date which they definitely hit! They also offer financing which is great because most contractors in the area don't. That allowed us to get our dream driveway done. On top of all the above, the thing that stands out the most is the quality of their work. I can't see any of the seams for the turf, and the paver/brick work is PHENOMENAL. Seriously impressive how the cut they bricks so precisely. It all looks so organic although it is perfectly constructed. I honestly can't recommend them enough. Not only do they do great work, but they do it with great customer service, quality products and quicker than any other team I've seen working in our neighborhood (we just moved to a new development). We'll be keeping them in mind for future projects at our house for sure. read more

Jose Fernandez did the original installation of our outdoor lighting package. This was a couple of years ago. If I have had an issue with the lights since they were installed, Jose has been good to take my phone calls. We recently had an issue where we lost all of our decorative lighting in the backyard. I called to make an appointment to have them serviced and Aaron Kennedy was my contact. He was well spoken on the phone and set up an appointment to come out. I appreciated Jose and Aaron showing up on time to the appointment. They troubleshooted and found I needed to contact an electrician for my outside outlet. They checked all our outdoor lights to ensure each of them were working before they left. Although, I had simply called about the backyard lights. I was happy they went the extra mile.
